My family and I have been seeing Dr. Turner and her team for almost 10 years. I absolutely love them! Dr. Turner is always so kind and helpful. She takes the time to explain everything to you and make sure you don't have any concerns. Every time I see her she asks about my whole family and remembers details about my life that even I forgot I've shared with her. Her team in the front is always happy to see me when I come in which puts me at ease. Dealing with acne is already very emotional and stressful, so the extra care they give to create a calm atmosphere is very appreciated. I've been getting microdermabrasions done here for over a year also and all the estheticians are complete pros. I love coming in for treatments whether I need them or not. PLEASE NO ONE GO: I had a very disappointing and concerning experience with Dr. Ellen Turner's office. I went in as a 16-year-old seeking help for acne and was told the laser facial would cost under $300. Based on that information, I agreed to the treatment. However, after the procedure, my card was charged $1,000 without clear prior consent or proper explanation. At no point was I made aware that the cost would be anywhere near that amount. This lack of transparency is extremely concerning, especially given that I was a minor at the time. I feel misled and taken advantage of. Pricing should be clearly communicated and agreed upon before any service is performed, particularly when working with younger clients. I strongly urge others to be cautious, ask for written pricing upfront, and fully confirm costs before proceeding with any treatment here. read more

I chose Dr. Ellen Turner in part because she markets her practice as offering functional medicine and hormone evaluation, and this was explicitly reiterated to me at the time of scheduling a new-patient appointment. Upon arrival, I was told, by the nurse who began my appointment, that these services are no longer offered. This information and the whole nurse interaction was delivered in a rude, dismissive tone towards me. When I questioned the discrepancy between what was advertised and what was actually provided, the staff response made it clear this practice is struggling with medical burnout and workload issues. This discrepancy constitutes misleading advertising and induced me to schedule a visit under false assumptions. I informed the nurse and front desk that I was not going to waste my time or a copay under those circumstances, thanked them, and walked out. read more

I took off work for this appointment and drove to the location only to receive a text message upon arrival that my appointment was cancelled (appointment cancelled after start time). When speaking to reception, they informed me it was cancelled for not completing the paperwork. I asked when the paperwork was communicated, and they said it had been sent out by email. I have received no missed calls nor emails from the office. I never received an email regarding the paperwork and when I asked them to resend it, they were cold and rude about it. Update: after leaving this review, I received a text message from the office stating that the dermatology office of Ellen Turner "will not be able to see you for your upcoming appointment in the office due to the review that was left." Not one to post reviews, but after billing me $90 for a 2 minute follow-up call regarding a question about my teen's medication (in which the only advise given was to call my pediatrician- who DIDN'T charge me), and the subsequent extremely rude exchange with her office after I questioned the charge, I feel the need to share. This was the final straw after multiple dealings with an unorganized front office (double booked appt, wrong date of birth in files causing delays in prescriptions, prescriptions not called in, long delays in replies to any portal messages (the only way to make contact), on top of a generally condescending doctor- it was time to find a new derm. I definitely don't recommend taking your teen here- there are better places more suited for their care. I'm sure they will say that they can't confirm I'm a patient- but we all know better. Do yourself a favor and go to ANY one else. Ellen Turner is literally a glorified Botox injector cosplaying as an actual doctor. This is just a cosmetology office, with the main focus of filler injections and up charging crappy in-house makeup, rather than actual medical practice that people expect. I stayed with her for WAY too long, giving her the benefit of the doubt but seriously, there's wayyyy better out there who are actual doctors. After almost 2 years of being under her "dermatological" care, I ended up in the ER & then hospital for 12 days from the meds she prescribed. She refused to acknowledge her negligence in not doing proper bloodwork before prescribing me random biologics, and instead insisted I must have cancer (LOL!) because nothing could have been her fault and she didn't "forcibly make me take any of the medications SHE prescribed".. I've been going to Ellen Turner Dermatology ever since I was a teen, basically for many years. I've completely disregarded the terrible front desk for years, which is a absurd of unskilled, rude staff that lack knowledge, expertise, and, most importantly, the ability to care for their clients. You would think a place that charges this much would have professional and expert dermatologists but it's the exact opposite. I've done a procedure with them and every-time they tell you what they will do, and they will explain the results but it all ends in LIES. They're very careless and only care about MONEY. They promise you they can fix a cosmetic situation and promise you a 100% satisfied results yet none of it turns out you want. The dermatologists there do not tell you about prices until they are absolutely done with your procedure so that you can't refuse them. Absolutely disturbing, money greedy and I hope you all can learn from this to NEVER book an appointment with them. read more

They have an unusual and unacceptable protocol - Staff tells patients: "do not talk to the doctor. do not ask her questions, do not look her in the eyes. She does not have time for this, so ask us any questions you have and we'll speak to the doc for you" - WHAT? I have traveled far to visit this office, multiple times (my bad!) - to be treated like such a peon and for the dermatologist to be so aloof and arrogant is ridiculously unacceptable. It's so bad it's almost comical but sadly, she is wildly disinterested in connecting on any level with patients. Aside from the lousy customer service, the treatments have been sub-par too. Have been going to this dermatology office for the past four years based on two friends recommendations and I am very pleased. Dr. Turner and her staff are the height of professionalism and really finding out what your needs are and make sure they are recommending the appropriate solutions for great feeling and looking skin. I'm updating my review because I've been consistently seeing Rebecca for 5 years now and I still stand by her professionalism and skincare knowledge. She is the best in the industry and I highly recommend her and Dr. Turner for all my skincare needs. My latest and favorite treatment is the RF micro needling procedure. It has lifted my brows and cheeks, and taken years off my appearance. Rebecca knows what she is doing and is very honest when telling me what I need and don't need. I recently had a IPL/Laser treatment (BBL/Halo) with Rebecca at Dr. Turner's office and WOW! It is not my first treatment and will not be my last. I was comfortable the entire time and the downtime was unreal. I healed so quickly. Even my husband was shocked about how quickly I healed...He has seen me get treatments in the past and knows it can take some time. Not with Rebecca...The products she recommended are amazing and really accelerate the healing process. And I am a harsh critic! I have already scheduled my next appointment. I'm sad to report my dissatisfaction with Dr. Turner and her office. For a couple of years now, I've been a patient with Dr. Turner. A lovely woman I might add, but everything changed a couple of months ago. Before leaving my employer I wanted to take advantage of my health benefits, before it expired. I wanted to get a producer remove my Dermatosis Papulosa Nigra. Initially when I first called to a make an appointment, I had forgot the name of my condition and asked for an appointment to get moles removed, but I new it was another name for it. I was hoping to come in ASAP, but I was told Dr. Turner was the one that had to do the procedure, but I knew that wasn't the case. During my consult, Dr. Turner told me one of her girls would do the procedure. I even told the girl who made my appt that, she double checked, and still told me I had to see Dr. Turner. Sure enough the day of my appointment I didn't even see Dr. Turner. Instead of getting my procedure ASAP, I had to wait almost a week and I wasn't even seen by Dr. Turner. The WORST PART was being OVER CHARGED what I was quoted during the consult. For 15 min I was suppose to be charged $145 to burn off my "moles". My procedue didn't take no more then 30 min and i was charged $450. read more

She is a great doctor! She has helped me and m family with all of our Derm issues. I came in for Acne which was all cleared on my 3rd visit . My sister came in for really bad eczema and it has never been as clear it is now. We had visited two other derms but they were not as progressive as Dr. Turner. read more

Dr. Turner will give you get you on a bunch of expensive treatment/topicals/meds that you don't need. It's all about the money. I am so glad I left and got a second opinion. Dr. Turner put me on Spironolactone indefinitely. It wasn't working so she kept increasing my prescription dosage. My new dermatologist was shocked at the dosage I was on. Turns out it's a diuretic and way too high of a dosage for me. Do your research and trust your instincts. Go see literally any other dermatologist than Dr. Turner. read more

I rarely ever write reviews, but I am doing so to warn people of their incompetent billing department. Or should I say, their lack of any billing person at the moment, as Patty is no longer working there and Terra (a nurse put in charge of handling these issues temporarily) is not able to handle billing concerns appropriately. The short version of my experience is that due to an improperly coded diagnosis, two claims that should have been covered were denied. I was assigned a "cosmetic" designated diagnosis per my insurance, when it should have been submitted to insurance as a sign/symptom. I made sure to review my medical records in detail, and it's clear that no definitive diagnosis was made until after my two appointments. After a horrible experience of leaving multiple voice messages and a couple of attempted portal communications, I have had no effective help in trying to resolve this issue. Not to mention that it's impossible to communicate this complaint to the provider unless I book another appointment, which I refuse to do because of this fiasco I would have done anything to avoid in the first place. read more

Horrible experience. It feels like they have zero concern for their patients, and definitely have terrible communication unless it's email trying to get you to buy creams or cosmetic procedures. They are running an office where no one can give you results even though the patient portal doesn't work (then close early with no access to any of the office staff on a weekday), and the staff is rude and pushy. They don't take the time to listen to patient concerns and rush through visits. I definitely wish I'd gone to a different dermatologist and will not return. read more

Made an appointment to have a mole check and discuss new acne, but after waiting 45 minutes to be seen I was told she would only do one or the other but would not address both issues in the same visit. They had these concerns on my appointment notes from when I called, but failed to mention that when I booked. Dr. Turner spent maybe 2 minutes checking me, had the nurse give me a cancerous mole handout I could access on google and sent me to make another appointment for my other concerns. I felt like I was not a priority because I wasn't spending tons of money on cosmetic procedures. Fast forward a month or so, I developed a rash on my neck and went back to Dr. Turner because after calling two other derm offices she was the only one that could get me in quickly. After waiting 40 minutes I asked the front desk if they knew how much longer, they said your checked in...same experience twice! WILL NOT RETUN & would not recommend this office to anyone I care about. read more

Waited 2 weeks for an appointment and 30 minutes beyond my appointment time. Dr. Turner spent around 5 minutes with me. I was charged $120 dollars for this interaction as soon as I checked in for my appointment because this office forces you to write your credit card info on your new patient forms. Office staff never notified me of this charge or asked me to sign off on the amount. I was not given a receipt. Dr. Turner and office staff spent my entire appointment pushing expensive products on me. I elected to buy 2 products and took them to the front to check out. My total was $242. I asked an office staff member, "Is this everything for the appointment today?" - meaning is this the medication charge + appointment fee. Office staff said it was the total for today and never mentioned the already $120 charge to my card. Shady, shady business practices. When I called to ask about the charges, I was offered no explanation other than, "I don't know how that happened." I work in the front office of a physician and that explanation is unacceptable. I've been seeing Dr. Turner for about two years now and I guess they just decided to stop treating me for some reason? I went in for my last visit less than two months ago. The visit was mostly in regards to my eczema, however, I also asked for them to give me more refills of my acne medication. I can't remember exactly what the nurse said, but I walked away thinking that they were sending them to my pharmacy. When the time came for me to fill my medicine I realized they hadn't. I left a message on my patient portal asking if they had sent the refills to a different pharmacy and they told me that my visit was for eczema, not acne, and that I needed to come in for an acne visit if I wanted refills. They didn't tell me that while I was in the office (probably because it's a ridiculous policy designed to make as much money off of office visit fees). I asked why they didn't tell me this while I was in the office and got no response. They did end up sending me a three day supply (I'm used to getting a 30 day supply). I've made five attempts in total to communicate with them to figure out what is going on and how I can get my medicine. I only received that one response. Yesterday I left a message asking them to please call me to figure it out because my skin is looking terrible, and they didn't call me back. However, they did have time to call one of my friends about a cosmetic procedure! Overall, I'm pretty upset about this situation because Dr. Turner did help me a lot when I first started seeing her. It seems to me that they just care more about taking money from patients than actually helping them. read more

IF YOU ARE A MINORITY - RUN AWAY NOW! This past visit would. have been my 4th visit here at the Dermatology Offie of Dr. Ellen Turner (Dallas). The previous visits went well for the most part. Well, the past visit was absolutely disappointing/upsetting. I wanted to wait to leave a review in hopes of either receiving $150 refund or hearing from the office manager. However, my appointment was almost two weeks and NEITHER HAS HAPPENED (supposedly, the office manager was out of town so I wanted to give some time). This visit, I decided to pay in advance. Once in the office and checked in... I was called back.The "laser esthetician manager" was very rude and short. This was so off putting and unsettling given she was going to be perfuming the service on my face! And this behavior was absolutely unwarranted. I tried to be overly nice and patient. She then tried to up-sell me but I told her I paid in advance for a revitalize peel. She then cuts me off and said, "well let me go and check on this to see what you actually paid for." WTF? She comes back a few minutes later, no explanation, no apology but a curt "follow me". I asked several times along the way if she confirmed my statement because the payment was take from my account. She then turns (by this time we are in a new room and she closes the door) around and states "what you paid for the xxx peel. It was the first peel you received here. If you want the revitalize it's going to be $200." I told her when I spoke to the receptionist asked for the peel that I received last time - the revitalize - before payment. She then starts speaking to me very slow as if I was incompetent and repeatedly kept stating "the person who helped you last time gave you a discount. I don't know why. But if you want that revitalize peel it's going to be $200. Take a seat. If you want to do the revitalize peel then you will need to pay $200." I reminded her that I've already paid and I was under the impression that I would be recieving the last service. At this point, she was beyond rude. And I wasn't going to let her perform anything on me because at this point I was uncomfortable and did not trust her. I asked to speak to a manager and she said "you're speaking to her. I am the manager." I asked for a refund. She walks me to the from desk and blurts out to the receptionist and entire lobby "she wants a refund. Give her refund. She paid for a xxx peel and wants a xxx peel." This is absolutely unprofessional and disgusting. She then walked out but made to sure to smile and say hi to other consumers who do not look like me. I am absolutely appalled. The receptionist went as far as saying that she apologize. I even asked the receptionist to hold off canceling the payment because if I can speak to the office manager and get in with the last tech then that's fine. She then told me she went ahead and canceled the payment because the office manager would not be back in for a few days. This all took place on July 16th It's now the 27th. I have not received buy money back nor have I heard back from the manager. I am QUITE certain you do not treat consumers of lighter pigment this way. I feel discriminated against and robbed. At the bare minimum, you all can give me back my money for a service I did not receive. If you are a minority - do not waste your time or money!!!!! This office should be ashamed about this and I will no longer remain silent. I will no longer let companies treat me poorly and get away with it. So I had to update since my last post, as I now do monthly microderm (Which are $59/month) with Tina (WHO IS FANTASTIC) and I have seen Dr. Turner a few times and my skin has never looked this good. Like the other reviewers, I felt this office did not value my time or business. I arrived to my appt 10 minutes beforehand to submit new insurance. I waited 45 minutes to be seen. I actually emailed the office twice prior to my visit to make sure all my concerns would be addressed. The visit was for an annual mole check and to get a refill of a steroid cream for a pre-exisiting nickel allergy to jewelry. When i finally got back to a room the nurse gave me a list of items not to "talk to doctor about because they would not be addressed" for the nickel allergy she told me to make another appt to be seen for that. Yeah right, like i am going to spend another 45 minutes again lady! The nurse said " if you want skincare products or to talk about procedures do not bring that up with the doctor she will not talk to you about it." When the doctor came in she she did check my moles. I did ask her about my cream and she shot the nurse Amanda a look like how dare this patient ask me this! Then the doctor told me to get an over the counter cream and shut the door! If i hadn't already tried that i wouldn't be going to the doctor! This is worst office experience i have ever had! I told the ladies at check out i will not be coming back! I've been to this dermatologist twice and they seem competent. I travel often so tend to book appointments via website. I've completed their template 4 times and they've never contacted me. The funny thing is that I get a litany of solicitations from them via robocall and email blast routinely. I get a robocall for my birthday from them yet I can't schedule an appointment without waiting on the phone. They seem high tech but have failed the first hurdle in my opinion. Oh they have a new portal and app today but their server won't connect lol. read more

Ridiculous!!! I get a bill Sept. 29 2014 for some supposed service my wife had done in Feb. of 2013. I called...they gave some excuses of billing changes and sometimes no billing at all and then said it is a real legitimate charge. I do not even know if it is or isn't and have to try and go back to research myself?!? I have sense changed insurance providers have no access to old info. In addition these people have closed out their books from the previous year and I lay money down that this account was (if it is legitimate) was written off to the IRS. Made an appointment as a first time patient. I showed up ON TIME, and was asked if I knew about their policy for first time patients to arrive 15 minutes early. I told them I was not, and I was told that I would have to reschedule my appointment, since I was late. What a waste of my time. I left work 2 hours early for the appointment and because of a ridiculous policy that I wasn't informed of, they refused to see me, even though I arrived for my appointment at the time I was told. I made the appointment a month ago, because it is difficult for me to take time away from work. Clearly, this doctor is just a "cosmetic" dermatologist, as they did not seem to care that I was there about something more serious than Botox. My advice: Go somewhere else if you want compassion. read more
