Heights Dermatology is excellent. The office staff is so accommodating, efficient, and friendly. Patricia always has a smile that shows her kind and personable way. The nursing staff is wonderful and gives personal attention to a patient's needs. PA Elizabeth Finsness (Liza) is awesome. She makes a personal connection and shows compassion and sincere concern in her interactions. Liza is extremely knowledgeable, thorough, attentive, and gives exceptional care. She listens to any concerns and explains things thoroughly. As a patient I feel validated and valued. Liza along with Camrie worked tirelessly to make it possible for me to get a medication that I needed. I moved 100 miles away but still make the drive to continue seeing Liza. read more

I had an appointment scheduled to see Dr. Ryan. My appointment was at 3:30. I showed up at 3:16 and filled out all required paperwork. I was taken into a room at 3:35. I was excited that I was actually being seen on time. A nurse asked me a few questions then told me the doctor would be right in. 43 minutes later NO doctor. There's only so many news articles and Instagram posts that will keep you busy for that long. I got bored by this point. At 4:25 I decided i didn't want to sit any longer. Waiting over 45 minutes is just ridiculous. I requested a refund of my co pay and left. I'll never be returning here. What's the point in an appointment of the doctor won't bother to honor the time or even come close?!? Note: I got a call from Dr Ryan after 5pm apologizing for not being able to see me. She said they overbooked people and that they had some "emergencies drop in" unexpectedly. It's a dermatology office. I guess I'm confused as to what qualifies in their eyes as emergency. Because technically my case was an emergency depending on what standards you go by but I wasn't given priority. I really didn't feel any better after that call. read more

I don't understand why you send a prescription to a pharmacy 45 minutes away from my home because they deliver and this is the pharmacy is who they are suppose to use. Took almost 2 weeks to find out that is where they send there prescription. Will not be going back. PA was fine and treatment was fine. But everything else was subpar. My first visit to see Dr. Menter was on May 17, 2021. While I was waiting to be called back for examination, an elderly lady came in and complained that she had been trying to get her prescription refilled for two months. She had made numerous calls to the office but either couldn't get anyone to answer the phone, or the person who answered did not resolve her problem. She said she would stay there until she got her prescription. I thought there must have been some sort of miscommunication. I felt sorry for the lady having to drive to the office to get some attention. I saw Dr. Menter shortly thereafter. He prescribed two medications. When I got back home, which is 1.5 hours from Menter's office, I found that my pharmacy as well as three other pharmacies in my town could not get the foam version of the RX. My pharmacist tried repeated to call Menter's office, but no one answered. I called five times. Three times I was told by a person that they would get the information to call my pharmacist to the right person and that the issue would be resolved. The issue as not resolved. I left two voicemails with the office manager (I got his extension from the last person I spoke to). He never returned my calls, nor did he or anyone else call my pharmacist. I really liked Dr. Menter, but a doctor is only as good as his staff, and his staff is unresponsive to patients' needs. that in mind, I will not be recommending his office. read more

Dr. Menter is excellent, extremely professional, and courteous. He never makes you feel embarrassed for your issue or look at you odd for the way you look. But I will say I am in the office fooooooorrrrrreeeeeevvvvvvveeeerrrrrrrrr sometimes or they seem to misplace my arrival in the "Que"... Arg... They are constantly giving me incorrect information thus making a prescription expire or making me spend more money, but other than that they usually try to fix any issues. Oh and they definitely will work with a tight budget. I never thought I'd ever be able to afford a dermatologist and fix my acne....Yaaaaaaaay! *On another note they recommended I get a facial through them and the woman permanently damaged my skin and I have a fairly large holes in both cheeks now. read more

I came here a few weeks ago on the recommendation of my PCP to help treating my melasma (brown patches on face) along with making sure none of my body moles/freckles were suspicious. The office location is great along with the fact that it's located in the same building as the Menter Cosmetic Institute and Menter Research Institute. I ended up walking down the hall after my appointment to purchase some of the daily face sunscreen that is tinted and SPF 40, which was on sale for cheaper than what I could have gotten off Amazon. I also liked being able to see/feel/touch all the products and know that I was not getting a fake product as many of the Amazon reviews warn on products like Elta MD. The front desk checked me in pretty quickly and were friendly. I ended up waiting about 55 minutes after my appointment time before I was taken back to a room. The whole process of getting my history/doing the exam was super quick after that (20 minutes in total). I ended up seeing Cynthia Trinkett, PA-C and although she is a bit brusque in nature, you can definitely tell that she knows her stuff. She was verbally stating my exam out loud so the medical scribe could record it. I work in an ER and I found the whole process to be very similar to my workplace. Cynthia prescribed me a topical compounded medication and suggested some supplements for sun exposure. I'm fairly confident I'll see results in the next 3 months before my next appointment with her. My reason for deducting 2 stars is really the wait time, which based on the other yelp reviews seems to be a quite common factor. I think there might be some overbooking issues because it's not like the providers are spending an hour+ in the room with patients. But if they continue to double-book their providers, they will lose patients based on the fact that many of us cannot wait a standard hour to be seen before each appointment. I started visiting Texas Dermatology Associates early this year. I'd been wanting to establish myself with a dermatologist in Dallas but had terrible luck trying to get an appointment in the next ten years. Unless you want to run in for a quick Botox injection, you can forget finding any open appointments at most Dallas dermatologists! NOT SO with Texas Derm Associates. I called to set up a new patient appointment for an overall skin check and was able to get in the very next week with Dr. Dan McCoy. The office is spacious, welcoming, and modern - everything you'd want from a place where you'll be mercilessly poked and prodded. (Not really, they are very gentle). Dr. McCoy is a very personable guy; he immediately made me feel comfortable, as did the rest of the staff. I really appreciated his frank and easily understandable manner of explaining things. When I found out that I had melanoma and needed excision surgery, rather than letting his ego rule and insisting on doing it himself, Dr. McCoy helped me weigh my options and was very honest with his opinions. In the end, he referred me to a great plastic surgeon to minimize the scarring. His nurse Serena is also one of the best medical professionals I've encountered in a long time. She returned my 7,564 phone calls promptly and never seemed annoyed that I had called with yet another question! If you discover that you need to have any minor procedures done, such as a simple mole removal, they can do it immediately right there in the office, which is nice because that means you won't have to schedule an additional appointment or go to a different doctor. Also, they're very good about accommodating their patients' schedules and working you in if you just want to have the doc check something out quickly. Who would have imagined, a doctor's office that actually tries hard NOT to inconvenience you?!! Definitely a keeper. read more

Doctor's offices always make me uneasy. Maybe because I grew up never having to sit in one (my family is full of doctors), but something about them just makes me uncomfortable. Thankfully, the staff and Dr. McCoy at Texas Dermatology Associates are some of the most caring and efficient medical peeps I've ever encountered. I was running a few minutes behind because I got lost trying to find the place, but the front desk staff didn't seem to mind. I filled out a few new patient forms and within 5 minutes they were calling my name - that never happens! Same thing with the wait in the exam room; Dr. McCoy and a nurse were in within a few minutes. Dr. McCoy listened to my concerns and checked me over for any suspicious spots, all while chatting with me the whole time to keep my mind busy. He was very comfortable to be around, too. I'm not a shy person when it comes to medical visits (hell, they're doctors; I don't care what they see), but Dr. McCoy was very courteous in shifting around the gown to keep some privacy. He ended up finding two weird spots that could develop into something, so just to be on the safe side he recommended removing them. I moved into another room to be numbed up, and Dr. McCoy had them gone in a matter of seconds. It was *almost* painless! I'm definitely keeping this doc in my back pocket. I've been going to my old dermatologist for a long time, maybe 15 years. But I'm tired off making appointments 6 months in advance. Someone recommended Dr. Menter and I made an appointment. When I got there I got worried because three of the men in the waiting room had their laptops out and were clicking away. I thought oh crap, I'm going to be here for a long time. Within minutes, I was called up and was speaking to a nurse who took my history. After that, I waited 5 mins before his physician assistant came and looked me over and made a diagnosis. 5 mins after that Dr. Menter came in. I'm a huge fan of Christopher Plummer and I have to say, Dr. Menter bares a striking resemblance. Dr. Menter's from New Zealand, I think, and we spoke for a few minutes. He confirmed his PA's diagnosis and we agreed on treatment. Like I said, I like my old dermatologist, but I think I prefer Dr. Menter's aggressive treatment style. Also, at my old dermatologist I would get there early and wait for at least 1-2 hours. I think I've found a new dermatologist. read more

The wait was incredibly long, I was seen almost 45 minutes after my appointment time, but I feel like that's just doctors for you. (I always wonder what takes so long: Are they finishing a movie? Playing craps? Mid-day nap? I'll never know...) Wait aside, Dr. Alan Menter is just as nice as can be, and wonderful to be seen by. I am sure that the other derms in this office are great, but I had a TERRIBLE experience with the PA. She was with me less than 5 minutes, had her assistant inject my cystic acne with two shots that ended up costing me $70 a piece--she didn't explain the cost, what they were doing, etc. Worst of all, she was disappointed that she could not put me on Accutane!! That stuff is HORRIBLE for you!!! I am so frustrated that even with insurance, I ended up paying close to $200 for services that I didn't understand. And honestly--shame on me for not slowing her down and asking more questions. I normally don't review negatively, but am so frustrated by my experience. I came here after a really bad experience at North Dallas Dermatology Associates - basically my doctor's nurse avoided me for a month while my conditioned worsened and couldn't be bothered to return any of my 1,800 calls and voice mails. Anyway, I came here with a very rare and difficult skin condition to treat and while I don't know if Dr. Ryan will be able to get rid of it - OMG the customer service here is amazing!!! Amber, Dr. Ryan's nurse, is so great! She has answered all of my emails and messages within an hour! When she says she'll call me - she calls me! Dr. Ryan was very thorough in her examination and was quickly to recommend an aggressive approach. I told her that I am getting married in 6 weeks and she seems to really be trying to better my condition by then and I can't tell you how much I appreciate them! I don't know if the treatment will work BUT at least I don't feel like a nuisance for trying to get in touch with my doctor regarding medication. read more

Wow, I was really impressed by Dr. Menter and the staff at Texas Dermatology associates. The office was running on time, parking wasn't too difficult to figure out or costly ($2 for an hour in a covered garage off Junius street), and I was in and out in under an hour. Dr. Menter has a fantastic bedside manner, and even though there were 4 med students in the room eyeing over my almost nude body, I didn't feel uncomfortable at any point in my visit. This is definitely THE dermatology practice for pale people like me who need to have some shifty moles checked out and want a doctor who has a history of dealing with our types of skin issues (psoriasis, moles, eczema, etc.). If you are unsatisfied with your current dermatologist, try Dr. Menter. You will definitely be happy you did! read more

Dr. Menter and his staff have always been the most organized, well informed group on the treatment of Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis. I moved to Denton , had a Psoriasis out break and after a month of getting whatever I could in Denton I think I was almost dead. By then I had it everywhere but my face and front of my neck. As always I was treated very very well and with compassion, and Dr Menter made me feel (I already knew this would happen) that he would help me. Most all staff were new to me but they were just as committed to helping me and easing my discomfort. I was at their office Monday , they got a new biologic drug approved and sent to me overnight and I began loading doses on Friday! By Sunday I could see drastic improvements. They have two Psoriasis, PsA nurses and I even saw a Dr who I'd let take a biopsy back when he was in Med school. His top students stay with him because he's that good. read more

Many issues have occurred over my last two visits: - Both times my appointment was delayed by over 1 hour even though I was told it'd be a 20 minute wait. First time was 1 hour and 40 minute wait, second visit was 1 hour late. - Upon second visit, the practitioner (PA) didn't even remember my first visit 4 weeks prior. She wasn't familiar with my case, and couldn't remember what she'd already discussed with me, neither did she reference my chart to familiarize. I had to explain my conditions and her own initial diagnosis and Rx to her... am I the provider, or are they? - On my second visit, I was told that I should have returned after 6 weeks, not 4 weeks (as I was instructed the first time) because the meds wouldn't take effect for 6-8 weeks. Waste of a visit and yet another visit fee. - Lastly, I filled out all forms with my allergies and even made mention MULTIPLE times prior to the electronic prescription sent off that I was allergic to certain chemicals. Instead, I go to CVS to pay and pickup meds, return home and find that the office had not specified my allergies. I am stuck with medicine that I cannot return, and cannot use. This office seems to struggle with patient volume, thereby affecting quality of care. I do not recommend. read more

I've had great visits before. However, this time as my treatment is coming to an end I got an overwhelming amount of attitude from the front reception. I was asked about payment and upon asking for clarification she became annoyed. Not to mention the few individuals in the waiting area able to hear anything and everything said about treatment within the 2 min span she spoke. After not being able to answer my question and maybe being a little frustrated she directed me ask at the end of my visit with the receivable/scheduler. Anyone who goes regularly to the dermatologist knows the costs associated with visits. Highly disappointed with the way I was treated today and will most likely not return after treatment. read more

I can't say enough great things about this office. Everyone you encounter is friendly and helpful. I was seen by Lisa Ostrowski and would recommend her to anyone, she has great bedside manner, really listens to your concerns, and truly cares about your outcomes. The icing on top of the cake is the billing department, they answer and return calls promptly and work very hard to make sure all the billing information is correct or quickly work to resolve it. I was recommended to Dr. Menter as I have been battling chronic idiopathic urticaria for 7+ years and was seeking a second opinion. I have NEVER been more disappointed in a doctor. I would definitely NOT recommend this practice to anyone. He came in the room asked very minimal questions and started spouting several medicines I should take (almost exactly what I was already taking, just different names) and then basically said Merry Christmas and walked out. Entire visit lasted less than 10 minutes and I walked out in tears. If you are wanting a doctor you can discuss your concerns with and who will really go to battle with/ for you then this is 100% NOT the doctor. read more

Dr. Saucier: good bedside manner, knowledgeable, able to communicate side effects of medications. 5 stars Staff: In my last 3 or 4 visits, the lady who takes your insurance card has not greeted me with a smile even once. I think she said hi one time, only to ask for my insurance card. I was prescribed a medication that has very strict guidelines and limited time in which things need to be completed by the doctor's office. Two months in a row, I had to redo my lab test because they were unable to complete the requirements within the 7 day window. And during this time, I left multiple messages and was unable to reach anyone to speak to. Even when I asked for the instructions to be left on my VM because I am at work until 5, they would just leave a message asking me to call them back. Throughout this entire process, there was no mention of reimbursing for the multiple lab tests that I had to pay for due to their lack of urgency in handling the matters. The worst part was that I was paying out of pocket since my insurance did not cover it. I ended up getting a bill for a $300 lab because their office used the incorrect diagnosis code. 0 stars. The redeeming quality was the actual doctor; but the staff's inability to promptly deal with the mistake and compensate for the extra amount I ended up spending led me to find another doctor, whose office staff are much easier to reach through a phone call. read more

In addition to his worldly contributions, he makes an impact on each and every patient.. just simply by his kind manner and presence. He is sharper than a tac, and very aggressive in treating whatever skin condition may ail you. On top of that, it's quite evident that he is as close to a perfect human being as he can be because of the way he concerns himself with each person he comes in contact with. I will never go to another dermatology clinic after finding the best doctors in the area, possibly the world, in Dr. Alan Menter and his team. I began with Dr. Menter back when my children were young and we all needed help with sporadic acne. His treatments completely cleared up my teenagers acne along with my adult acne. I didn't see him for many years since we didn't have the need. But many years later, I began experiencing a terrible rash on my neck and face. I called every dermatologist in Tarrant County,where I live and could not get an appointment for at least three months. Even when I explained I was having symptoms that were uncomfortable, I was told by the dermatologist offices in Tarrant County to go to the ER. So I did. The young ER doctors were attentive, but gave me every diagnosis under the sun, including lupus and made appointments for me to see other gyneologists and specialists. I knew this was not the answer. I was so frustrated. I finally made an appointment with one of the Tarrant County dermatologists -- even though it was going to be two months before I could see her. When my appointment date neared, I received a call from her office saying she was going on vacation and my appointment would have to be postponed. Are you kidding me? That was the final straw. I decided to call Dr. Menter's office even though I had not seen him in years. I was told to come in the next morning. Amazing! A doctor who would see me with a medical situation instead of giving all the appointments to people who only want Botox or Restylane! When Dr. Menter walked into the treatment room and saw the rash on my face and neck, he was appalled and sympathetic. I broke down and cried and hugged him for seeing me. I'm sure it took him by surprise. But when you call a doctor's office for treatment and cannot get an appointment for three months and then are told to go to the ER, it becomes ridiculous and frustrating. I was so relieved to be with Dr. Menter again. And again, his wonderful, sound treatment cleared up the horrible rash in two day! He even gave me his private number to call if I ever had any other skin-related issue that needed immediate attention. Take a lesson from a first-class, world-renowned dermatologist, Tarrant County dermatology community. Dr. Alan Menter rocks the world of not only dermatology specialists, but doctors in general. I have learned my lesson. I will never, ever go to another dermatologist even if I have to drive 25 miles to see him He is worth it! I came here because of the highly rated reviews.Let me tell you this is the worst medical place I have ever been to in my entire life.Please read my review and reconsider going here.First I was made to explain in detail a very long list of things that I needed help with.I went into very much detail so as to get the best help possible.I was then made to do this another three times for a total of four times, first time to the person writing down my details as it was my first visit as I have no medical history in the US.Second time to the intern working there, a third time to Dr.Saucier to which after I was done explaining she asked and these are her words 'So what is it you are needing help with?' Unbelievable. Nothing wrong with the person who wrote down my details.The male intern working there though basically said to me that what I had in my face was just an acne cluster as opposed to an infection.This infection is 2 inches deep in my right cheek, I have acne but it is no where near this infection and when on a course of accutane(strongest anti acne med available) only the acne disappeared, not the gunk from my pores or the infection.Clearly the acne is just a symptom to anyone who feels my face properly and compares both cheeks, he even commented that the right side of my face where the infection is is noticeably more bloated.The infection is the reason I have the acne as well as the gunk and bloating, but according to him Im wrong.Ive even had my friend check the infection there, Im not imagining it, it literally is 2 inches deep into my cheek and can be felt if you press down and compare both cheeks. I told him I used to have psoriasis until I removed grains from my diet and did a heavy metal cleanse which got all of the mercury I had stored from my mercury fillings which I dont have anymore, that its not noticeable anymore and only flares up if I eat things im allergic to or if I dont tan regularly.He told me its more then likely I never had had psoriasis even though he noted the small patch of it on my feet.Funny that because when I left the place I went to somewhere to eat and forgot to ask for the tomatoes to be removed.I had a severe allergic reaction a few hours later and psoriasis from all under my armpits, arms, elbows and feet reacted and went extremely red, dry and hot.Just because someones psoriasis is not bad at the time and the patient in question has not had it medically verified but knows how to control it extremely well does not simply mean it never existed... He also told me that he would advise I dont tan(If I dont for a period of a month or more then my face literally turns into a dry flakey mess and Im not exaggerating and also the tanning helps my psoriasis A LOT.I can eat anything I want even if slightly allergic to it except tomatoes if I tan regularly.Of course I dont do that but you get my point.)He also had the audacity to imply my skin was showing signs of skin cancer without pointing out any specific area.When I told him about studies I have read about skin cancer and tanning he simply dismissed what I said. I inquired about accutane for my acne, he basically said they need to try other methods first(more money, more visits for ineffective drugs) I also talked about the side effects of accutane mentioning conclusions of studies etc, he dismissed these and said I was wrong. He then went out for awhile and I guess explained to Dr. Saucier I wasnt youre typical patient who sat there, said nothing and just accepted everything.She came in extremely nervous and only for 5 minutes or so, asked a total of one question which was her fault for not listening.She was so nervous seeming it was really unprofessional.She completely relied on the male intern as if he was her boss.I would have been embarrassed if it was me.In the end they only were going to address the acne and completely ignored all my other requests and didnt even comment on anything other than the acne and infection.(I wanted help with infection, acne, gunk coming out of pores, a mole removed, microdermabrasia for some minor aesthetic skin defects and an allergy test.But they didnt address any of these fully.Just the typical 'take this to cover up your symptoms and come back with more problems which we will be glad to not address but give you more drugs to cover more symptoms.' This institute is the absolute worst specialty office I have ever come in contact with. They have NO COMMUNICATION SKILLS. Zero. They never answer the phone. There's the option of leaving a voicemail after a 20/30 minute hold or having them call you back and your place is saved in line. They said to message through my chart because it is "faster", no it's not. Besides communication, they are out of network with my insurance as of 8/1/21. I have been going to this office on a monthly basis since feb/march. Instead of telling me that they are now out of network, they took my co-pay on 8/4/21 and allowed me to schedule another appointment in September without letting me know they are now out of network with my insurance. When I had an urgent matter come up I was scheduled to see Dr. K the next morning. So I drive 30 mins to the office just to find out that not only am I not being seen today but that they are now out of network. This office has the absolutely worst staff an office can have. They need to replace them with people who know how to run an office. read more

I love Dr. Menter. I've been to countless doctors (some even have been derms) who have misdiagnosed me by saying a particular skin condition I have is boils, staph or MRSA. It took 12 years for me to figure out that it's called Hidradenitis Suppurativa. He deals with many other patients with the same condition and is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I do feel a little rushed and wish I could have more time to speak to him about the other issues I have, but that seems to be the case at most doctors offices. read more

I had an appointment so see Dr. Ryan last Thursday. I got in promptly which is good, but I wasn't seen by Dr. Ryan, but by the PA. I am not sure why I they don't tell you that when you schedule the appointment, since my circumstances were urgent enough to see the actual Doctor. Anyway, I was in and out in 5 minutes, did NOT get tested for my condition and was given a prescription with instructions to call back if it got worse. IT DID GET WORSE. I called back very early on Monday, missing a work day. I had to go to urgent care and got prescribed another medication. I wrote in their patient portal, left a voicemail, and still have not heard back. I don't expect to hear back from them, but I am extremely upset that I had to pay for that consultation and medication only to pay AGAIN at an urgent care facility. read more

Dr. Menter is fantastic!! He can cure anything. He's smart and aggressive with treatment. I have used him for any skin issue for 16 years, as has many friends and family members. Everything from acne to eczema. He trains other doctors from all over the world. And, not that this matters, but he's also blazing hot. COVID petri dish. Nobody is more than 2-3 feet apart. I saw 3 patients with masks BELOW their nose and nobody policing it. When I stood on the "6 foot" mark to the front desk, my left leg touched the knee of a seated patient. It's a sardine can. I objected (I was with my elderly mom, who is high risk for that and other reasons) - and we were moved to a tiny 2nd waiting room alone, seen immediately (early), and Dr. Sears and her assistant spoke so fast that even I couldn't understand much of what they said. Luckily, I didn't need to - or I'd have asked them to repeat themselves. They ignored my Mother - they talked to me and didn't make eye contact with her. It's not uncommon with senior citizens - but doctors should know better; Dr. Sears is not a young doctor, she should know to address her patient. Mother is established patient, but "Randi" or "Randy" setting up the appointment and verifying insurance was awful - seemed confused, unable to work the computer, etc. The worst part tho - COVID protocols are being ignored. Even the clean and dirty pens were not monitored. I saw 2 patients put dirty pens back into the clean pen container. read more

I had a small flat wart on my foot and needs to be removed. It is my first time visiting. People there are really nice. Doctor told me that usually it takes more than one treatment to remove the wart completely and I agree with that. However, I thought they would try to remove most / some of it for the first time. I got two burns of liquid nitrogen on my foot for my first treatment. But the wart looked almost the same after the treatment and it cost me $250 for that. I don't think it is a huge wart which can be only removed 1/4 for the first time, or not even 1/4... My next appointment will be 4 weeks later. I am not hoping that after waiting for 4 weeks and done my 2nd treatment, it still looks the same... How many times more I need to go for this little thing... read more
