To cap off my whirlwind weekend tour of Denver, I started my Denver Microbrew Tour off at River North. The tour guide was Derek, who was an excellent, cool, and knowledgeable dude to lead our group up and down the beer blocks of LoDo. Talk about a guy who could relate the beauty, art, science, process, and intricacies of a good microbrew while simultaneously cracking high-energy jokes and encouraging generous pours and no empty glasses. The tour takes you to River North, Rock Bottom, Breckenridge, Falling Rock Taphouse (EPIC), and ends at Wynkoop. The variety of good, fresh, beer is really too many to count. And depending on the volume of your drinking, too much to remember. Memorable moments for me were sampling the fresh and intense Agave Wheat and Vanilla Porters from Breckenridge (already favorites back home in MD, though in bottle form), being overwhelmed by the 110 taps at the accurately described "Best Taphouse in America" Falling Rock, standing outside of Coors Field and making fun of Coors' comparatively inferior beer, trying Rocky Mountain Oyster Stout at Wynkoop, making friends with all the super cool people that join you on the tour and getting local tips, and then stumbling around LoDo afterwards, happy, content, and full of some of the best crafted beer in America. Definitely one of the highlights of my trip. Totally worth the price of admission, and then some. Flying Dog is right, good people drink good beer. read more

Was in Denver for a bachelor party for 2 days before heading to Breckenridge. Our group of 7 signed up for this tour for a Friday at 3PM to make sure that we could get our hands on as many microbrews as possible. The Denver Microbrew is the way to go. We were staying at The Curtis so walking two blocks to start the tour at Rock Bottom was perfect. The total group size of the tour was about 15-20. We also went to Wynkoop, Falling Rock Tap House, and Breckenridge and each had a space reserved for us. The amount of time at each place was sufficient. Maybe too much so as I forgot to collect the souvenir glass that I paid $4 for. Our tour guide, Steve, was knowledgeable and friendly. If you like microbrews and you are in Denver...DO IT! read more

I went on this tour a few months ago. It was a terrific way to sample a good many brews from Denver. The tour introduced me to some beer that I would never have gone out of my way to try. Some beers were surprisingly tasty and other beers perhaps not so much but I'm glad I was exposed to all of them. That's what a tour is supposed to do; introduce you to something outside your normal palette. As a bonus, the tour guide was very informative about the breweries as well as Denver history. We went on this tour with my in laws, for fathers day. It was the best time. Tour is just the right amount of walking through downtown, so you get a good little tour of the city. Steve, the tour guide, has a nice bit of knowledge about the history of the city, and a ton of knowledge about the breweries we visited. Even though my wife ain't much of a drinker at all, she knows I love my beers and signed us up for this microbrewery tour on our last afternoon in town. We got our start down at Breckenridge on Blake Street on Saturday afternoon in the back, and unfortunately this is a bit indicative of my main problem with the tour - it felt a bit rushed. When my wife and I showed up (at 3:10 PM, per the instructions), there were all of 8 of us there at the time - and while everyone eventually showed up, that definitely took some time off the clock - and it ended up making us have to rush a bit at every place (save the last one) as a result of the time deficiency. Given the space you have at each place (except for Falling Rock, which was a bit on the tight side), that wasn't an issue, but the more people you have, the more likely it is that you end up running late - and then you're chugging craft beer, which ain't the proper way to enjoy good beer / is a quick way to get a bit more hammered than you'd like. Aside from that, though, the tour was quite enjoyable. Despite being relatively new to the Denver area, Bryce was quite knowledgeable about the breweries and the beers we were being served, and he has a great, positive attitude and is very outgoing in engaging folks and making the tour a truly social event (why shouldn't it be? That's what drinking is about!). He was great about making sure everyone got a pour (and got extra if there was some left over), and he always made sure that we were entertained and learning as much about beer as we could through our questions. If you're in town for a short period of time and don't know which breweries to hit up, this tour is a great way to get exposed to multiple places in a few hours' time without overthinking where to go. With everything within walking distance (although we did take the free 16th Street Mall bus up to Rock Bottom from Wynkoop Brewing), it also doubles as an active experience that ensures you won't end up being too tipsy by the end of the tour. Bryce was a great guide, but if there's one thing I would try to improve (which is hard to enforce, and it may just be me because I'm a stickler for on-time scheduling), it would be the pacing at the beginning - or possibly even cutting a beer from the starting brewery, just to account for the fact that folks will invariably show up late, leading to a spillover effect at every other stop. read more

Bryce was a great tour guide who is really, really smart and totally ready to share his beer knowledge with you. He knows what he's talking about and is incredibly entertaining to boot! A nice walking tour around Denver. Generous servings of beer at each stop, and I actually learned a lot about many beer things - what's an IBU, about saisons, and what happens when you use nitrogen to brew. My favorite beer was the Chile beer from Wynkoop brewing! A nice pint glass as well when we booked is a cool souvenir from the trip. A very enjoyable way to spend a hot afternoon in Denver, and Bryce was the best. Only thing that was REALLY unfortunate about this tour is its not a circle tour. You end up really far away from where you started (and parked). If you're a young lady and unfamiliar with Denver, it's not pleasant to walk back (Even if you're NOT by yourself it would be sketchy). It would have been five stars if we ended up on the busy part of 16th again instead of far away in some corner by Coors Field. read more
