Their drivers are super fun and very laid back. I've done pedal pubs in other cities and they are really strict about rules and waivers and everything in between. The DPR has rules and makes you sign a waiver but are really laid back and super fun. You can bring your own music, snacks, and drinks. The driver lets you pick the bars you stop at - typically three, and has great suggestions for stops. Each time I've gone, my group has chosen a theme and dressed up, which makes it tons of fun!

Here's a quick tip for you - some seats on the Patio Ride are pedal free. I think about 10 of the…read moreseats actually pedal this thing around and then there are 5 more that are just freeloading seats with no pedals. So, if you want to do this ride, but don't want to pedal push just bring at least 10 other people with you and hop over one of the back wheels or in the way back and voila! you'll be sitting pretty. Here's another tip - the seats closest to the front are the highest so if you have long legs sit up there. If you have short legs sit toward the back. You'll be able to reach better. Here's something that I would have never guessed about the ride - no matter how hard everyone pedals you're never going to breach 5 mph. So don't plan on going too far or getting anywhere fast. But, truly in my mind that's part of the beauty of the ride. Here's something you should know about the owners and drivers - they are awesome. They stay sober for steering as the riders get progressively tipsier and tipsier after hitting up one bar after another. Most of these bars are spots where the Patio Ride peeps have set up a deal for a shot and a beer. Just be wary - most of the shots are straight liquor. Luckily most of the stops also have food to fill your tummies. Lastly, think of these drivers like a cab or limo driver and tip them too. How much is up to you, but it's always nice to show your appreciation for the person who stays sober amongst the drinkers so they can "drive" you around town. The Patio Ride is ridiculously fun and I can't even say why. Just that you need to experience it yourself to see. I also hope they get approval soon to be allowed to drink on board because I don't know if I'd ever stop my bike ride if I could pedal while sipping on some adult libation. They have the ability to play your iPod or they'll play their own and I believe they do rides with specific DJs on board if you want a real party ride. I believe the hourly rental rate is $160/hour Sun - Thurs and $180 Fri- Sat for the whole bike, but when you break it out over 15 people it's something like $12/hour per person which is a steal. They also sell individual seats for $15/person per hour for certain rides. And that my friends is my 1200th review.

However there were some pretty severe technical issues with the bike itself: the gearing was WAY off leading to some people having all the resistance and others barely being able to do anything. This meant we barely moved faster than a brisk walking pace (our friend actually managed to keep up with us during a phone call walking along the sidewalk!). This also fed into a secondary issue where the board above near your knees was a bit too close and, especially with little resistance, it was all to easy to smack into it hurting yourself. Lastly adjusting the seats was a bit difficult. For the amount of money I expected a bit more direction and time but you can only drink so fast. The tours listing 3-4 stops on their site seem ambitious even with a faster vehicle. In two hours we managed to hit two breweries. While we had a good time and the bike made for a fun team experience we could've just as easily have walked the whole thing. I'd home in the future they can make the experience a bit more worth the cost. We saw many of these types of tours in the RINO district where the breweries are closer together and the roads less intimidating/car-filled so that might be a better area for this.

There are two different tours, but since we already had tickets to the New Belgium Brewery, we opted for the other one including: Avery, Oskar Blues, Fate, and Left Hand. We got picked up in a Wal-mart parking lot if my memory serves me correctly, and then we went to another stop to pick up some other people. The website didn't say this, or maybe I missed it, but they actually supply beer on the bus! One of the other guys brought beers and stuck it in the cooler they supplied for everyone to help themselves to. The bus was decorated in all sorts of hanging Oskar Blues cans and stickers from the breweries. Our driver had some trouble with the directions, I think the told us this was her 2nd day on the job, but we didn't sweat it. What gets them 5 stars is the fact that they are a well oiled machine. This isn't some fly by night company. They pick you up when they say they're going to pick you up and they leave when they say they'll leave. Upon getting to the bus at 9:15 am, the driver, Kevin, checked me in and said, "Help yourself to a beer in the cooler." S'buh?! Ok, Kev, I surely will! I think that's there earliest I've ever had a beer besides a red beer. But it was nice. And the beer just kept flowing like wine. Plus, they create a playlist based on music requests you submit when you buy your ticket, which is a really cool bonus, unless you happen to be riding with people who have bad taste in music (I'm looking at you whoever requested all the Jimmy Buffet songs), which was slightly the case on my tour, but that's not the Brewery Bus's fault. I blame society for the amount of Matchbox 20 and Maroon 5 that was played. I digress. This is a great, reliable, friendly company that let's you be responsibly irresponsible and have a great time actually getting to enjoy beer. The ride there was extremely hot with no AC or fans on a 90+ degree day, and we weren't given clear instructions about where or when to meet the bus after the show. The ride home was worse: we struggled to find the bus, waited 10 minutes for the driver to return, and then spent about 45 minutes detouring to Lakewood to drop off one passenger while the other 8-10 riders were headed downtown. The driver seemed unfamiliar with the company, including its routes and drop-off locations, and the language barrier didn't help. We didn't reach Union Station until 1:05 a.m. and ultimately paid $20 for a Lyft home, even though we could have walked home from our original pickup spot at Schoolyard which the driver had no clue about. To make matters worse, a passenger also aggressively harassed another passenger for nearly 20 minutes, and the driver did not intervene, making the ride very uncomfortable. I learned by calling that Bus to Show is using a third-party provider this summer. Regardless of who is behind the wheel, Bus to Show is responsible for the service it provides, IMHO. The driver appeared to lack the information and support needed to succeed, which is a management issue. I appreciate that Bus to Show ultimately refunded our tickets and provided a discount code for future use, but reliable and safe transportation should be the baseline. I respect their nonprofit mission, but they need to address these operational issues. After this experience, I'll pay for one of the $50+ bus options and would be hard-pressed to try Bus to Show again.

Policy states: NO bags, purses, back packs in brewery -- supposedly due to safety & security.... That's a straight up lie.... Nowhere on that tour is there an instance where ANYTHING could be anymore unsafe if carrying a purse/bag/backpack. It is impossible to contaminate the beer in any way, harm any machinery, or have any instance where the machinery/conveyers harm guests. EVERY BIT of the tour exhibits are behind plexiglass windows or shown via video. The most dangerous thing that could happen is someone fall up/down while walking on stairs. During the tastings, someone could possibly choke.... But still not by cause of a bag, purse, backpack. Face it.... The truth is they don't want you to steal anything from their gift shop! Okay.... Off my soapbox! Our ID was checked (to provide of-age patrons with a wrist band for the 3 (8 oz) free samples.) We were then herded over to the first video... a very short required safety video. Then the actual tour began.... Our tour guide, Sara, was very personable and punctual. She, without doubt, was knowledgeable of the malting, brewing, and packaging processes, as well as the company's history! However, I personally felt like she tried too hard to be witty in her presentation. The 90 minute tour seemed much shorter to me, but it included 2-3 pre-recorded videos, 3 tastings, and viewing of numerous historical advertisements. We learned of the several new brands that Coors has quietly acquired during recent years and that they have a subsidiary company named Coors Whiskey Co. that brews both whiskey and bourbon. We also learned how Coors stayed afloat during 18 years of prohibition in Co with Malted Milk and non-alcoholic Mannah beer. In my opinion, the best part of our particular tour was celebrating a guest in the hospitality lounge whose 21st birthday was today!
