That other dental office changed management and suddenly was recommending several treatments and they were very intense about it. I decided to get a second opinion and was so glad I did. It turns out that I didn't need any fillings. I eventually moved to West Seattle and continued coming here just because they always did such a great job! The appointments were scheduled to be quick and efficient, but not rushed. Also, everyone was just so friendly and knowledgable. I unfortunately moved out of state, and just went to a new dentist here. Comparing experiences led me to want to give this review. I wish all dental offices were as great as this one! I'm going to miss this place now that I've moved :-(

After my first visit, there was an uneven part of my tooth that I noticed and came in for. I was quickly assured by the doctor that it was normal and that nothing was out of the ordinary. I took her word for it and went home. Then over the next few days, I noticed that on the same tooth the part that I had felt pressure was not missing because it had broken off due to this pressure that I had felt. I came in right away, but was told that I cannot be worked on because the bill was going to be $1900 without insurance. Needless to say, I feel misled. However, the more I think about it, I almost feel manipulated into now having to get a crown due to the integrity of my tooth being compromised and then neglected. I find it extraordinarily unprofessional that now I am going to be charged for something that should be free as stated by your own office.

Making and rescheduling appointments is also fairly painless. However, what makes me truly stay is the doctor. Over the years, I have had many visits to do my braces and clean my teeth, but I still remember the time I had a couple back teeth removed. Before that, I had a negative experience with another doctor, so I was a little nervous going in. But Dr. Huynh truly surprised me with his technique. The removal was virtually painless! The last doctor that removed my tooth was rough and seriously lacked the necessary hand-eye coordination. Dr. Huynh, on the hand, was not only gentle, but also efficient in taking care of my teeth. At the first appointment, it took multiple (5-6) injections - never had that many before. I experienced discomfort and pain for about a week after this first appointment, which I heard is abnormal for this sort of procedure. Then when the doctor could not successfully apply local anesthesia, yet again, at the crown fitting, he just went ahead with the procedure even after I told him and his assistant multiple times that I still felt pain. While anesthesia is not always required for this procedure, I specifically shared with the team that I wanted to be numbed due to my pain tolerance and teeth sensitivity. When I kept squirming in the chair and groaning, the doctor remarked, "Oh, you really feel the pain?" as if I'd been faking it all along. After this experience, my partner and I decided to look for a new dentist - someone who actually cares about his patients.

Every time I visit, a playlist from my favorite band is already playing in the exam room which is a great touch. You can also watch Netflix shows during your exam. But onto the important stuff - the dental work! I really appreciate that Dr Yen, even with all of her fancy equipment and new-construction office, is not a pushy money grabbing dentist. The office is also only about 8 minutes from the ID, so it's also a perfect excuse for me to swing by Uwajimaya for my favorite groceries and try out local restaurants for a meal afterwards. I recently went in for my first cleaning in two years and to be honest, it was probably the most dirty my teeth have ever been! I was worried I'd be judged for my recently poor dental health (I was traveling overseas for the past year in countries where I couldn't drink tap water to clean my teeth), but they didn't make me feel bad about it at all. I left feeling very positive and hopeful that I can take better care of my teeth. Dr. Nartea has a very gentle hand which makes going to the dentist a lot less scary. I will likely be getting some preventative care to avoid some cavities this next year and I'm not even worried as I know I'll be well taken care of by Dr. Nartea and the Seward Park Family Dental team!
