DR NELSON IS A GODSEND!!!!…read more Before hearing about, and being referred to Dr. Nelson, I had unfortunately experienced oral surgery from another surgeon who turned out to be negligent and was responsible for weeks of severe unnecessary pain. That doctor had extracted a tooth, put in a bone graph and placed a membrane due to a small perforation in my sinus cavity. With that other doctor, I was scheduled for one follow up visit but the intense pain I was experiencing necessitated 4 return visits within 2 weeks. I felt strongly that I had developed an infection from the procedure and requested an antibiotic. She refused, claiming there was no infection. She took no tests or CT scan to rule out an infection. Instead she was rude, dismissive and acted like I was making up the level of pain I was experiencing. After a month of her completely inappropriate behavior as my pain increased, I went to Dr. Nelson (referred by my dentist) to get a second opinion. Dr. Nelson saw me immediately and took a 3D scan which evidenced that my whole left sinus cavity was filled with infection. The smell of sulfur was overwhelming, the pain in my head and face was at a level 8-9 at all times. Dr. Nelson put me on an antibiotic and performed surgery 2 days later to check for contamination in the bone graft and clear the infection. Immediately following his procedure I was so pleased!! I had no more sulfur smell and the pain I had been dealing with for weeks had dissipated only leaving minor sensitivity from the new surgery. Reluctantly, I had to give Dr Nelson a call on a Saturday at 4pm because I was feeling a burning sensation in my mouth, which I believed was due to the strong antibiotic. He answered his phone right away, he was so kind and compassionate and he called me in a prescription to help with my burning mouth that had nothing to do with the surgery. He was so communicative that one pharmacy was closed and he took the time to call me and ask which other pharmacy I preferred. My mouth settled down immediately. On Monday, I called his office to see if I could move my followup appointment to be seen by him sooner than Wednesday. I spoke to his office staff and even though he wasn't in until Wednesday, his office staff were so pleasant and helpful. Literally a minute after hanging up with his office, Dr Nelson called me right back. He was with his family driving to Joshua tree and couldn't have been more kind, compassionate and I told him there was no problem and i would see him on Wednesday. In closing, I just finished both of my followups with Dr Nelson today. His staff is wonderful and caring. I'll be seeing him again in June to finish the work started by the other surgeon. I am hopeful that I dont need any more dental work done as far as implants, however if I do, Dr. Nelson will be the first and only doctor I would call. I even returned a few days later with a sinus infection, and Dr. Stabley was extremely kind, patient, and helpful. The surgical care itself was excellent. However, my experience with the administrative side of this office has been very disappointing. I overpaid for my surgery and was issued a refund check, which unfortunately expired before I cashed it. That part is on me. After finding the check again in mid-August, I contacted the office to have it reissued. Since then, it has been four months of calling, emailing, and trying to get a simple replacement check. I have been told multiple times that the issue is being taken care of and that I would receive a call back, which never happens. I've sent and received a total of 13 phone calls since August, plus multiple emails. I've also spoken with the practice administrator--who has been kind--but the problem still hasn't been resolved. I've been given conflicting information: that the check was mailed to my home and rerouted by USPS due to an incorrect address (even though the address they read back to me was correct), that the check was then supposedly mailed to the office instead and expected to arrive on 11/19/25, and later that follow-up would be provided--yet no one ever follows through. I even went in person on 12/8 to ask about the status, was promised a next-day update, and still received nothing. I received another update on 12/10 that the check would be sent to their office by the next week. Given that it's now the 21st of December, I don't think I'll be seeing this check by the end of the year as they mentioned. It should not take months to reissue a refund, and it's extremely discouraging to feel constantly overlooked. I genuinely wanted to continue coming here and recommending my clientele because my surgical experience was great, but the ongoing lack of communication and follow-through from the front office has been very disappointing.

I was very nervous to have this done especially because I had never been under anesthesia. I went in for my consultation on a Monday and they were able to schedule my procedure Friday of the same week. The entire team was so friendly and welcoming during my entire experience. Dr. Wilson explained everything that would need to be done very clearly and helped me to feel at ease. I opted for Exparel to be given during my procedure and it was definitely worth it. I experienced no pain during my recovery only mild soreness which was relieved with Tylenol. I highly recommend Dr. Wilson and his team if you find yourself in need of oral surgery. They even sent me beautiful flowers during my recovery.

I was mailed an odd ledger showing my balance due with no details just an accounting list. I asked for more details and was read over the phone the charges which some dated back 2 years ago. I asked why I hadn't been notified or billed all this time and was told that they have over 2000 patients and they don't send bills. She said it was the patient's responsibility to check with them if they have a balance due. Over those two years our family visited their practice probably 5-6 separate times for cleanings and was never once told there was a past due balance. She also told me that some patients don't check because they are hoping the dentist makes a mistake and doesn't account for their visit to avoid paying. Didn't appreciate the insinuation. Upon reviewing my bills (btw this was a small amount of money) all of the charges ended up being their billing mistakes by either incorrectly coding the insurance claims or not honoring their cost proposals for work completed. Please don't put yourself through dealing with this very unprofessional staff.

I explained this on my first call in to Brittany at the front desk. I then found out I have to wait a month due to office policy to see them. I then get a call 1 day before my appointment that I was not setup yet. I explained again I don't understand hmo well and they stated I needed to call my insurance. Then waited a month to find out the day off still not moved and then I put them and insurance on a 3 way call. I was already setup but they didn't have me on the registration list. The insurance company explained this was the office not them. This was my first red flag. I am excited a few months in to get a cleaning finally I thought. Nope, I get 1.5 hours of xrays and scans. They state I have no cavities but my gums are having issues and need my root canal tooth rescanded and need a deep cleaning (even though i had a cleaning 4 months ago and 12 years no cavities). I have a 2 week trip to Netherlands coming and explained this but go to get the recommended scan of my tooth that cost me 200$ out of pocket and no cleaning still. This is the last I speak to a human and next six times I call in I get a text message back and will attach the screenshot of some of it. Over and over told I will get a call back due to questions about the cleaning and future work. I am in shock after trying to talk to a human for 3 weeks they only call me on time after I told them I was going to travel at 3 am local time there to leave a voicemail. I then called back that day 3 times and never got through. Then called and texted when I got home for 3 days in a row. This is a ton of calling and texts about something I explained I have anxiety about to get no response. I travel alot for work and don't have time for an office that can't make me a priority. I now have to start over next month with new dentist after my next trip. Ps I know they have a service that will respond to this message with "sorry for your experience and we apologize for the inconvenience " just like they did when I was calling over and over ro get help.

I was visibly nervous when I went back about being put under and Rachel talked me through and really put my nerves at ease. I am so grateful that she was there. If I may offer a word of advice, looking back I wish I had been told more about what to expect in terms of appearances at the extraction site. I was quite alarmed when I first looked at one of the holes and have been relying on the past experiences of family and friends to judge if I should be concerned. My visit lasted approximately five minutes, and I was told the issue was TMJ -- which was completely unrelated to the reason I was there. There was minimal examination and no meaningful discussion of the actual concern that prompted my referral. The following day, I sought a second opinion from another oral surgeon, who was surprised that my condition had not been properly evaluated or treated. The difference in thoroughness and concern between the two appointments was significant. I then attempted to resolve the billing issue directly with the office. For nearly two months, I repeatedly reached out to billing and was told the person in charge was on leave. After finally getting in contact with her, she was extremely rude and stated the charges were non-negotiable, insisting that Dr. Golding did everything "appropriately." When I explained my concerns and the circumstances, I was told I would be sent to collections -- which ultimately happened. I was sent to collections for over $750 for this brief consultation that did not adequately address the medical concern I was referred for. Being sent to collections under these circumstances is incredibly disappointing and stressful. Patients deserve to feel heard, thoroughly evaluated, and treated with professionalism -- both medically and administratively. I cannot recommend this office based on my experience.

Dr. Broumand's entire office is one of the most comfortable places I could ever imagine having any…read moresort of oral surgery. I've had multiple treatments with him, and will never go anywhere else. During the consultation for the first treatment I had, I overheard another patient saying that they actually flew across the country just to see Dr. Broumand. That level of trust and loyalty from a previous patient speaks volumes about the positive experience that patient must have had. When I had an implant under sedation, everything was absolutely seamless. He explained the treatment well, and I had no complications from the anesthesia. I felt great by later that day. Everyone in his office genuinely cares about you, and they're extremely personable. They follow up to make sure you're okay, and happily answer any questions. I had another lighter procedure with local sedation while I was awake, and quickly found out why all of the staff at Desert Ridge Oral Surgery are always so happy. The incredible communication and seamless teamwork between Dr. Broumand and his assistants made me feel like I was in great hands for the entire procedure. I was truly able to relax. I cannot recommend them enough. Their office is truly incredible, and I am so grateful for the experience I have had with them.

As a patient who values fair pricing, I feel that I was significantly overcharged for a service. Specifically, I was charged over $400o for a tooth extraction. When I called to ask about the approximate price prior to the appointment, I was told I could not be given even an estimate until I was in the chair. We were leaving town soon and I was in a lot of pain, and I couldn't get in anywhere else. Once I was in the chair I and was told that my dental insurance would not cover this procedure. When they showed me the quote, I wrongly assumed that this is just what it must cost at other practices, I would have thought dental surgeons charge roughly the same amount. (As stated before, I was in pain and not in a place to visit more surgeons for quotes.) After the procedure, I was still shocked at the cost. I called around to other offices to get exact pricing. I found out I paid OVER THREE times what at least 3 other dental surgeons would have charged me. (Even my insurer, Delta Dental, was shocked at what I was charged, but said there was nothing they could do.) I did try to discuss this concern directly with Dr.Broumand and his office staff. While at my check up appointment, I did mention to Dr. Broumand that what I was charged was a considerable amount of my income and that other practices would not have charged me even half as much. He stated that visiting him was like going to Nordstroms and that going to the other practices I mentioned were like going to Kmart. He then did tell me that he understood and wanted to take care of people like me, an educator. However, after weeks of waiting and phone calls back and forth, I found out that they weren't going to grant any adjustment to the price. I am very disappointed that he said he would help in person, but then his office manager said he wasn't going to adjust the pricing at all. I understand that dental care can be complex and costs may vary, but the lack of fair pricing left me feeling uneasy. As a patient, I want to trust that my Dentist is not gauging me when I am already in pain. I urge the practice to reconsider its pricing strategy for people who might not have certain procedures covered by their dental plan. There is messaging all over the office about him being the oral surgeon for the suns and diamondbacks. Somehow, I couldn't help but feel that I, as an educator, paid considerably more than these professional athletes would ever have to pay. I genuinely hope that Dr. Broumand takes this feedback constructively, and will not further gouge people whose insurance might not cover a procedure. In the end, I feel taken advantage of, having to pay way more than another patient, just because my dental plan didn't cover this procedure and I picked the wrong place to go. I would like to note again that I did try to make my concerns known to both the office manager and dentist before being so unsatisfied to then compile this review. As a patient, I believe that fair pricing is essential in a positive healthcare experience, and I hope to see positive changes in this aspect in the future.

I went with a different place at first because it was closer to where we were living. Well, that turned out to be a mistake. I ended up having a bad experience there and finally switched to S&L. Dr. Ngo and his team fixed everything the other dentist had messed up. Right away I knew my wife had been right all along. I've been going to S&L for four years now and they really are the best dental office I've ever been to. Dr. Ngo has removed all my old metal fillings and replaced them with modern ones, plus he's done a couple of crowns for me. Everything looks and feels great. My wife has also been extremely happy with all the work he's done for her too. I'm almost 55 and I've seen a bunch of top-rated, highly recommended dentists over the years, both here in the US and a couple in Mexico. Nothing else comes close. One thing I have to mention is how good Dr. Ngo is with people who hate dental visits or get nervous about pain. His work is excellent, but it's the way he takes care of you that makes the biggest difference. For example, the way he does Novocaine shots is unbelievable. You barely feel it at all. Every dentist out there should learn his technique. With all that said, I do think the front office experience could be better. If the customer service up front matched Dr. David's clearly caring vibe, it would be 100% perfect. If you're looking for a truly professional dentist who gives five-star care and service, this is the place. Dr. David Ngo at S&L is the only one I would recommend without any hesitation.

He is knowledgeable and professional and always takes time to check in, even during routine cleanings. I usually don't wait more than 5 minutes for my appointments. There have been times where I needed immediate dental care and they are able to work with you to fit you in as quickly as possible. I have recommended him to many people throughout the last 8 years! At a previous dental office in Miami I had a terrible experience that started with a routine cleaning that turned into a root canal 6 hours later and left me with significant anxiety with all things dental related. I found out a few years later after moving to Arizona that the root canal was not performed correctly and I had to get it re-done. Dr. Ngo is incredible at calming nerves and making you feel safe when in uncomfortable situations, especially with anxiety. He talks through every step in advance and during the procedures, so that there are no surprises. He takes extra time when numbing the mouth so that the pain is tolerable and at times barely noticeable. I really appreciate this and feel like it's rare to find. I highly recommend Dr. Ngo and S&L Dental for all your dental needs.
