As I write this review I know that the expectation was already low. Most of the food was either too salty, too sweet or just mush. The chicken tenders were so salty my mouth felt like I had been eating salty sunflower seeds. The oven baked Mac n cheese looked like nacho cheese with floating chunks of pasta. The onion rings were good. Other food we got was the brisket melt and cinnamon pancakes. The pancakes themselves were good just too sweet with the icing on top. The brisket was passable. The server was nice. The atmosphere was ok. It's a small room so everything sound loud. There was a little eating there and was screaming. But she's a kid and you can't blame her. Just like usual desert fashion, this place is incredibly slow. Long line out the door and they only have half the dining area open. We've been sitting for 20 mins and still no one has come to even so much as greet us at the table. I tried to wave down the bald headed man who took other table's orders and he completely ignored me. We got sat at 10:40am and at 11:01am someone finally came to ask to take drink orders. When we told the woman we were ready to order she said we had to wait for someone else to take our order. Came here for a late lunch while exploring Joshua Tree State Park. It's Denny's. So nothing particularly special about the ambience. The place was nearly empty and our server had to be summoned from the back room by (what appeared to be) some regular customers. Once seated and given menus, I wiped the menus down with alcohol wipes. (I do this everywhere!) Those menus were SURPRISINGLY clean. That gets MAJOR points from me. I ordered a cheeseburger and fries and my friend got the Crazy Spicy Skillet. He loved his skillet. Apparently, it's a recurring Denny's order for him. And I really liked my cheeseburger. But, the star of my plate was that order of fries that come with the burger. They were seasoned to perfection. Yes, I was STARVING when we got there. But that had nothing to do with how much I enjoyed those darned fries. Overall, service was better than adequate, the food was good and the price was average. Better to go to John's place.. As a customer of this establishment since 2014 I can easily say that I will no longer spend my money here after today's showcase of negligence, I want to start off by saying I don't blame the cook entirely since I don't know what the available spice situation looks like in the kitchen and the server herself had about 20+ people to manage all by herself. The food took a considerable amount of time given the fact we only ordered burgers. The presentation looked good but when I took a bite it was like eating air-tasteless and bland, "oh whatever" I think. I got fries first two to three fries in were decent but then they were just too heavily salted and later on in the day I ended up developing a head ache from taking eight times the daily amount of salt.. I shrug it off and just get excited for the shake that I ordered if anything was gonna save me from writing the review I am now it was that shake but as you can guess they bring me the shake and it was thin one peg up from chocolate milk and get this no freaking tin for the leftovers... By the end of this dining experience I felt absolutely robbed once they bring the check for two burgers two shakes and an ice tea (plus added jalapeños on a burger) brought it up to a whopping total of 54 dollars for just two people!! What happened to the family friendly model of Denny's? I get it inflation is bad and with minimum wages going to $20 but I honestly felt robbed for the experience I had. I personally hope this establishment can find its way back to its roots but I don't see how it's possible without extorting those in the desert just trying to survive. I always expect mediocre diner food but we were surprised by the customer service here! Thomas was so attentive & friendly, coming in with the jokes. There was also another female waitress who was also friendly. They really made the experience so pleasant. We could tell they were nonstop working as they always had food coming out; I don't think I saw them rest once. We enjoyed our meal of a build-your-own burger (which we loaded up) with fries & they weren't stingy with the toppings. Overall felt we made the right choice coming here. As well as the food ordered was not the food delivered as advertised like missing ingredients on the burger. Some food items as well were overcharged. For example, 3 tablespoons of Mac&cheese were $5 dollars and came in a dish where a side of ketchup would be in. The coffee was burnt and still charged $3.79 even though advised her of it and never drank it, which she also acknowledged. It takes alot for me to go out of my way to make a review, I never do, but this experience overall has been by far one of the worst I have ever had, to the point I have to make it known to everyone.
