I was excited to try something new while dining in Galveston, looked this place up and saw a positive review about customer service so I was immediately sold. Sadly, I received the extreme opposite. The only kind person was the cashier. Once I received my food, not a single person asked if I needed anything else, apparently I was a ghost because they continuing to work around me assisting everyone else politely. This Denny's is bigger than usual,at least dinning room size. I waited about ten minutes for the country fried steak and eggs in which I had to tell the waiter twice that I wanted scrambled eggs. What does he do when it's busy? The food was what you might expect, although the hash browns were swimming in Wesson oil, and they never asked if I wanted catsup. Lately, as a corollary, I've been wondering how many people have not been diagnosed with having Williams syndrome. There are at least two people I can think of, but who's to say? I'm basing this review off my experience today. My wife and I have been to this location several times and had great experiences and food for what dennys is. Today We had the worst waiter I've had in a long time at any place. We ordered and what we wanted they didn't have we ordered a 2nd meal and my water and my wife's coffee ran out for way way to long while the waitress walked by use multiple times. We finally got our food and had to tell her we wanted new drinks. My wife's side was mashed potato's and they told her after they brought the meal they where out. She ordered chicken strips and asked for white gravy and she final got it. It felt like every part of our experience we had to track down the waitress and tell her to do her job. Then my wife found a bread tie in her food and the waitress acted like this was ok and had to get the manager who came out yo explain it was just a bread tie. Well we knew what it was and it was in the good not on the bread. She ordered another without a bread tie and they acted like it was nothing. This Denny's wait staff/managers REALLY need training. The SERVICE is the WORSE of any Denny's I have dined at (several times/week for many years). There is NO teamwork. (1) Waited to be seated (2) Waited for service(Manager seated me, but didn't take drink order) (3) Had to get up and get more coffee(from cashier as ALL wait staff was in back near kitchen) (4) Waited too long for food (5) Waited too long for ticket (finally went to cashier without ticket). Need a LOT of TRAINING. Have a rotating system where one/two are at front (near register) to seat customers and take drink order immediately (even if not their table(Teamwork). Possibly the worst Denny's in America. I have never been so furious after a dining experience. I know a lot of the other bad reviews are older but please do not eat here. Nothing has improved over those years. I went today, not expecting fine dining but at the very least, expecting to get what I am paying for. When we arrived, they gave us two menus, apparently one was old(we did not know which was more current) and had the bacon Gouda burger still listed. We asked the waitress if that burger was still available because it only seemed to be on one menu and she said "yes, of course" So, we both ordered the burger as it was (it's supposed to come with bacon, Italian cheeses, caramelized onions and a Gouda cheese sauce) but I added sautéed mushrooms to mine. We ordered shortly after being seated and everything was downhill from there. The waitress, who never formally introduced herself, seemed to be almost purposely ignoring us. During our nearly hour long wait for our food, she rarely stopped to refill our coffee and she never brought the water we asked for. These things were irritating but it wasn't until the food (finally) arrived that I became upset. I quickly realized that our "bacon Gouda burger" had no bacon or caramelized onions. She remembered my mushrooms so, woohoo for that. I was really upset that after all that waiting, my food didn't even have some of the main ingredients that were in the name! So, when she finally came to ask us how we liked our food, we told her what was wrong. And this is what makes me furious, she then informed us that it was because the Gouda burger is no longer on the menu so instead she just did a build your own burger that she thought was similar. She told us that even the cheese sauce that they used was not Gouda but some other sauce they had and that she didn't realize it was supposed to come with bacon or caramelized onions. So, to recap, we ordered the bacon Gouda burger and got NO bacon, NO Gouda, and not even the onions were right. I told her if she would have just told us that it wasn't on the menu, we would have preferred to order something else. She told us that she didn't charge us for the bacon (which I mean duh, we didn't get any and since it was supposed to come with what we thought we were getting, it shouldn't have been extra anyway) and took the coffees off our check. I honestly am just baffled that she tried to lie in the first place as if she was giving us what we had asked for. She made multiple changes to our order without considering to consult us. I would have been happy to change my order to another burger and I certainly wouldn't be writing this review if she had given me that option. I will never be back to this location, I don't care if it's the last restaurant on the earth. read more
