Had an excellent experience at Denny's! The manager was very professional and made sure everything was running smoothly, which really showed. Our server, Jesus, was outstanding--super friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed! My husband and I moved to Rockwall almost 5 years ago from Richardson. We have been going to the Denny's in Royce City anytime we need a super late meal. We have not had one bad experience. Whoever they hire to do the cooking is consistently on point. Their food is excellent, which is surprising to say for Dennys. Dennys is one of the few restaurants in existence that doesn't price gouge you in our drowning economy. Service is also fast and friendly. My daughter is an East Coast educated chef that works in uptown Dallas. I even brought her to this Denny's one time and my parents when we were doing some late night stuff just to prove to them the food was so good. They said some funny stuff when I told them we were going to Denny's, but they were all shocked and how good their meals were! read more

I came to the restaurant early yesterday morning and was seated in a super quiet restaurant as there was no TV sound or music playing and I could hear the manager and cootalking tand someone in the back about me in a very inappropriate way throughout my whole visit. I felt they were using me for amusement and making fun of me. FYI if you're going to talk smack in the back realize that there's not much wall between us and your restaurants dead silent as well as no one else was in the restaurant and one guest was seated and never tended to and I saw him get up and leave as he said that the service here sucks. Please fire the manager so the restaurant can go back to the way it was. This childish gossip behavior shouldn't still be an issue in adults. read more

Yummm. Pleasantly surprised! Sirloin steak, mashed potatoes with gravy and seasonal veggies. It came with garlic toast. They gave me some A1 steakhouse seasoning which was not needed because it was perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked. Not sure why people are giving this place a bad rating, but if the lady they are talking about is the one who called my husband "Handsome" a few weeks ago, she made both of our days. All the other ladies that serve us dinner are so sweet and right there when you need them, and we feel pampered. Sometimes they have been short handed, but they handle it. We eat there so much. It's really the only place in Royse City where you can get a good variety of great food. We love also that we can get breakfast or dinner or lunch, whatever we want, and we always think it's the best we've had. I went to this Denny's a few times when it was under other management long ago, and it wasn't great, but it's a whole different place now. Not related to anyone there, I promise. Normally, I don't have too much to complain about....But today took the cake.... Me and my wife went to eat there, the food was good and prepared the way it was supposed to be...But when we were finishing our meal, I noticed something in a corner of one of the single booth. Came here on a Sunday at 12:45pm. Place was busy, but not overrunning. We were seated immediately & waitress took our drink order. We ordered breakfast right away & waited. & Waited & waited. 40 minutes later the waitress brought our food. EVERYTHING was cold. Like it came out of the fridge cold. She took it back to the kitchen then came out to ask us if we wanted them to remake it. We asked how long it would take & she said 10 minutes. We got our "remade" food. Mine & my son's scrambles were microwaved & returned. My husband's over medium eggs were redone. Everything was now hot but rubbery. Waitress apologized, but manager was not concerned. Lots of waitresses come and go here... small town I guess that's normal. We eat here every Sat & Sun if we have time so we know the employees very well. I would say that they are hard working and get WORKED very hard because of how often the laid back employees call off work. Yes they will stay even if there into there 13 hr. My son loves this place & most of the time it's pretty good. But today & another time about 2months ago I had to walk out. 2 months ago we got seated & order about 40 minutes later our food was not out when I asked how much long I was told I was like 3rd in line it wasn't even that busy & so I told them to cancel my order I was done waiting & walked out. Today I didn't even get seat I was up front waiting like 10mins & it wasn't full them was like 6-8 booths/table available. TERRIBLE SERVICE. I have dined in and picked up orders- dining in: burnt our hush pup appetizers for breakfast- didn't complain. Asked for a plain grilled cheese- simple right? Not sure if this location is even open. My family woke up early before work/school to get breakfast together, and I hate waking up early. The place was closed at just after 6am! Isn't this a breakfast place? We ended up going to a donut place downtown that was open. After eating we passed the Denny's on our way out for the day and saw it was still closed at 6:45am..... We've been coming here for a while because it's the only breakfast place in Royse city, so we can't complain to much. But, the manager is the worst. Today specifically we were holding open the outer door for a family with a small baby and as they were coming out he pushed passed them not say excuse me or anything then he didn't even hold inner door open for us. Mind you this isn't the first time we've had to deal with his horrid customer service. He allows the staff in the front to be racist to the staff in the back so loudly we felt like we had to say something to let them know that they sounded ignorant. The Denny's site states 24/7, I called today and they said we are open everyday. We went at 3:30am and there was a handmade sign that stated 'closed for maintenance'. We have gone to this Denny's several times as it's one of our few options in Royse City. Their food always seems to taste good and although they aren't always the fastest or friendliest staff, It wasn't until our last visit that made me want to write a review. We got to there around 10:00 pm, 4 adults and one child. The waitress had a rude demeanor about her, but nothing I couldn't get over. THEN, after we ordered I handed her the menus and saw her nails. They were long and nasty. By nasty, I mean dirty yellow fungus looking nasty. When she brought our food out her nasty nails were so long she's basically touching the food, maybe not literally, but it's too close to tell for sure. Her thumbnail was hanging over our food (if you think about how you grab a plate when you have 2 in your hand, you'll get it). Then, there was the fact that a off duty (in regular clothes, but overheard conversations to realize she worked there) waitress that had sores all over her arm (meth head) and acting weird kept going in and out of the kitchen. The entire left side of the restaurant was "closed" with the lights out and a chair blocking the entrance. Well, that just so happens to be the side where the bathroom is and my 4 year old kid had to go to the bathroom twice. There was some guy (again not in uniform, but think it might have been someone's boyfriend) sleeping in one of the booths. We were so disgusted we barely ate anything.
