Ordered over the phone,they said it was going to be 25 mins. We got there and asked if the order was ready,the girl said no. I waited 10-15 more mins. A different girl came and said why is this order still here and the original girl said oh it's him sitting right there. So they made me wait extra time when my order was there the whole time. I have been coming to this location for 10+ years and the service through that period of time has been great. Merced has a few breakfast/diner options so this Denny's location can get busy Saturday and Sunday mornings. The food is usually tasty, I don't have any favorites but my sister loves the pancakes and my mom usually gets their side salad. I gave it a 4 star rating since this is one of the better options we have in Merced for diner food. read more

We arrived at this Denny's with 33 of us coming from our kids' High School basketball game. We are not from this area, but needed a place that was open late. There were 6 of us families, and we all were scattered around with the adults in one area and the kids in another. They accommodated us all and 3 servers split themselves between all the families scattered in different seats throughout! The food was great and the servers were great too-especially Andrew (super personal and fun)!! They were so nice and accommodating!! So thankful for hard workers and great service!!! read more

What can you say about a Denny's that hasn't already been said?! lol Well - our complaint is that the Southwest turkey sandwich deal on the 2468 menu is gone! The quesadillas are gone too! Wow...we find something we like to have late at night and then poof! it's gone! Such as it may be - we did find the new skillet very delicious - the one with gouda on it :-) I can't remember the name of it for the life of me but I bet you after I finish writing this, I will. :-P The servers are sometimes cool at night and then sometimes crotchety. You can't sub nothing! But our server Rose was soooo fun to talk to and was friendly. She made sure our late nite dinner was enjoyable! I'd love to have her as a server next time we go! read more

By far the slowest Denny's I have been to. Even though it was Sunday afternoon but the was way too long . No body came to take the order for 20 min and once ordered it took an eternity to come . I was very surprised when we were able to get excellent service on the phone, the order was perfect, and the young lady who helped us labeled all of the meals. I would give them zero stars if I could. We saw our zesty nachos sit on the counter for 10 plus minutes then we asked the manager how long they've been sitting there she told us it takes 20 minutes to get your order. She knew that nachos were going to be soggy but gave them to us anyways. After a few minutes she must have regretted the decision and made us some new ones. The entire time we were there no one asked us if we needed any napkins or our drinks refilled. It was almost like we're invisible. Maybe because of the recent Asian Hate crimes that this happened to us because we were the only Asian couple there. I never want to play the race card, but it looks like they used the card tonight. We frequent this restaurant but probably will go somewhere else where our money is appreciated. The only time the server came to ask us anything was "are you ready for the check?" This is my go to place. I love the food. It's always hot and ready for pick up when I order on line. The customer service is also very good. Now I have not tried their delivery service yet but they are offering free delivery promo now so perhaps it's time to try it out. read more

Sometimes it takes a while to get a table but the Service is great depending on what waitress you get. Food is almost always hot but be sure if ordering eggs to confirm with the waitress how you want your eggs cooked again and again because the cooks seem to forget and get stuff wrong. My family and I have been here over a dozen times and we like it more than black bear diner down the street. Restrooms always seem to be clean and stocked up. The taste of the water is gross but if you get something other than water-you can't tell. Food is cheap and a standard meal, (eggs, baco, hash & toast & possibly pancakes) will cost you about $9. There is also a cheaper version (approx $6) because they often have specials. Be sure to always ask about them. Sometimes the waitress don't mention it unless the customer brings it up. Also on certain days kids eat free with a paid adult menu meal. Check in and eat up. BTW: theres a green salsa that's a hidden treasures and tastes great on eggs. The worst service I've ever experienced in a Denny's. My boyfriend and I stopped at this location late Tuesday night. We were starving and nothing else was open at the time. I ordered chicken fried steak mashed potato's and salad, he ordered a burger and fries. We also ordered appetizers and asked that they be served prior to our meal (as appetizers usually are but you have to ask these days). 30 minutes later the waitress brings our appetizers and meal all at once saying the cook made a mistake, to make it even worse she hands over my meal which consisted of chicken tenders with gravy on top, mashed potatoes and tortilla chips. As I looked in disgust she goes on to say, sorry I forgot we ran out of patties for the chicken fried steak, you still want it? Instead of giving me the opportunity to change my order so my boyfriend and I could eat at the same time, they took it upon themselves to create a bs meal and look at me as if I'm being a picky customer. I was so upset. The manager apologized and brushes the situation off saying "sorry it's her first day you know how it goes". No compensation given, the least he could have done was comp the soft drinks I ordered. read more

This place definitely made me change what I look for. I came in on a Saturday afternoon while on a business trip. Looking for a quick bite decided I would come here. Was seated quickly and within 10 minutes my order was taken. (FAST!!) I started to get my phone out to do my usual routine while waiting, Facebook, youtube, etc. next thing I knew the good was ready. As a regular customer of Denny's in Merced as well as Denny's in general, I was disappointed in today's service and food. It's one of the few food places open late at night in Merced. However, it is located in a sketchy area and tends to attract obnoxiously loud drunk people especially in the early AM. Also, the water tastes gross (probably tap water). Seated relatively quick but was a couple tables away from a group of 8 obnoxiously loud drunks. We did not even know that there was music playing until we requested to be moved. We wanted to move to the opposite side of the restaurant, but the waitress said that it was "closed" and was reseated marginally further from our original seating. Less than 5 minutes later, a loud group of 4 drunks were seated literally right next to us. I ordered Eggs in a Basket, which at the time sounded appealing. We had been waiting for food for over half an hour even with the restaurant being mostly empty. When the food finally arrived, one of the bacon pieces was chopped up for some reason. The eggs tasted weird (not in a good way), hash-browns were good, but the sausage and bacon were OK. I lost my appetite before finishing my food, which is rare. We left 70 minutes after arrival (group of same size seated after us ended up leaving before us). I plan to update my review if the service is improved upon next visit. read more

Oh boy, where to start??? Let's start with my visit after a night at the Partisan last week. Two friends and I went in just after midnight. After about 5 minutes the manager for that night, who will remain nameless, approaches our table and "chews me out" for being loud and vulgar. Granted, I WAS drunk, but me nor my friends recall me being vulgar at all, or excessively loud. Now, just FYI, this manager and I have history...she does not like me, I don't like her. Having said that, my husband and I just returned home from a visit to Denny's, and we both immediately ran for the bathroom(mind you we came STRAIGHT home). But afterthoughts aside, let's talk about our meals. I am a sucker for the Slamburger, which I had tonight except I ordered the 'new' one with bacon. It wasn't all that much different than the original. My burger was delivered to our table, almost in shambles. The toothpick thing was stuck through the burger, with the bun halfway off, touching the plate, my patty was IN PIECES thrown together on the bun, there was next to no cheese sauce or hash browns. Very disappointed. I only seem to get this sort of treatment when this particular manager is there. Maybe I should call ahead of time and find out who is on shift before we choose to dine at this fine establishment. But getting back to the previous issue...we walk in and get seated fairly close to the door. Right in my line of sight is an overweight, overbearing family. The two large ladies were loud enough and classy enough all by themselves, with their "munchies" but then they threw a couple of little lovely children in the mix. These kids were 10X as obnoxious as the 2 lovely ladies. The little boy couldn't seem to figure out what an 'indoor voice' was or how to properly cough without being a complete drama queen. He is standing up in the booth yelling and screaming. And what happens??? Said manager walks over and "shoots the shit" with these apparent regular customers!! How about telling the kids to shut the hell up?? I understand this isn't some high-class restaurant or anything, but seriously??? I was appalled. It's experiences like these that make me want to rip out my uterus. The cherry on our date-night-sundae was when the little boy stood up and boisterously stated that one time his mom called his dad a bitch. read more
