***BUYERS BEWARE!!!*** At Denny's in Hanover, I had the worst dining experience I have ever had at any establishment, ever, in my entire life. We were served burnt food, overcharged for food, told we couldn't eat there and had food taken away from us by the manager Hamid who is irrational, unjust, rude, disrespectful and desperately lacking in critical thinking abilities who also decided called the police on us.
Our menus were filthy. They were very grimy with a nasty film on every page. It was disgusting trying to imagine what some of the colors in the stains came from. I closed the menu and ordered from memory and also cleaned off my silverware with liquid from my drink on a napkin. But what I should have done was leave. I've been frequenting Denny's about 30 times a year for the last seven years, so I figured I'm here and I guess it can't get any worse. I was wrong.
My sister told the server Bryan her eggs were burnt and that she was unhappy with them. He gave her two options, we could wait as he had them remade or he could just take the eggs off of the bill. There was only one cook and she didn't want a repeat of the same disaster or a wait so she chose to just keep them.
About five minutes later, Hamid (wouldn't give his last name), came over to the table to tell her that since she opted to keep the eggs she had to pay for them regardless of what our server told her and regardless of whether they were bad or not. She said that she was disgusted with the service now and to just take them if he insisted. Hamid reached down and took the plate that she was still eating from; a plate that had more than just eggs on them. And keep in mind we had just started eating 5 minutes earlier.
So, according to Hamid, it's not ok to keep eggs that the server offered for her to keep, but it is ok for him, the manager, to take her plate with the eggs and other food still on it; the food that we were to pay for? And we were charged for all the food, even the eggs that he so brazenly took away from my sister. All this said, even after he came to our table and took my sisters food, he called the police as he said he didn't want us to eat there... and again, WE WERE STILL CHARGED FOR THE FOOD HE TOOK AWAY! Is that not crazy irrational behavior or what? I didn't look at my receipt until after we left. I called later and spoke with Abbey, the woman in the picture with Hamid. She said she took the charges off but Hamid took over and added them back on and that she couldn't undo a "superiors" actions.
For him to give this kind of treatment to long time paying, well tipping customers who had previously, before the decline in service started some months ago, considered the Hanover Denny's their favorite location this kind of treatment over $1.99 eggs; shows Hamid cares nothing for the customers, the business, or its reputation.
Although the manager Hamid's actions were ridiculous and uncalled for, and I can't say for sure but he certainly seemed to be chemically imbalanced, our server Bryan was really nice, as most have been throughout our past visits. I don't know if it's the Hanover location, the manager, or just management in general. But this location has really gone down hill. A little while ago they were closed for renovations. I ate there again the very first day it opened back up and it still looked the same. Although, there was a weird smell before that isn't there now so maybe there was some hidden reason they were closed they don't want to publicize.
It says on the menu the eggs were $1.99 and the cheese were $0.79 @6% tax.
I was over charged $2.94 for food that was rudely taken away from us. And it's not about the money I tip on average $10-$14 depending on the server, it's about how you treat people, and it's about what's right.
I'm sorry Denny's of Glen Burnie for ever leaving. read more
