I am usually pretty easy going when it comes to service. I don't ask for much and I know how it is being previously in the customer service industry. The food was good however the service was terrible!! Before we even had a chance to look at the menu the hostess asked for our drinks which was fine but then the waiter Francisco came to take our order immediately after. We told him that we needed a few minutes he came back and we gave him our order and wrote it down and left pretty quickly. He came back a few minutes later and asked about my order again which I repeated to him. When it came out he gave me the skillet I did not ask for. I still ate it anyways because I've had it before and I don't like making a big deal out of things. He did not come back the whole time to check on us and we waited 20 minutes to get our check. We didn't get helped until the manager checked it and asked us if we needed anything and he said he would help us at the register. They were not very busy and the man just seemed like he was in a rush. Being a server at 2 different Denny's in the past there was no way you are weeded at 12:30 in the afternoon to give bad service. read more

It's really sad when a waitress ignores you to such a point that you make eye contact with her and she can't even say "I will be right with you" we sat for 10 mins waiting to order and watching "Catalina" dote on the table next to us..then a second family was seated and another waiter went to them passing us up. Staff is extremely friendly and food comes to your table fast. They let you know when they are getting moved around the restaurant and will introduce their new waiter. They are very attentive and food is great. Nice place to stop by after finishing from the Del mar fair grounds. read more

Okay so this gets 3 stars from me. I have been coming to this Dennys location since I was 10 years old. I have always had great experiences until today. My waitress Yussi was very impatient and never came to our table to see how we were doing. I had to ask other waiters/waitresses around to order more food because we were growing impatient with Yussi. I later received my hash browns and found a minuscule hair in the middle of my hashbrowns. Worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. Definitely never coming back to this location. To readers, I advise coming to this location at nightly times when the waitresses and waiters seem more relaxed and overall friendly. read more

I love this place, I worked there for quite some time. They treated me like family and we were a team, but due to irreconcilable differences I needed to leave. This place just had really poor service. First the server never came back to take our orders so we had to go find them. Then one of our orders got messed up and it took about an hour for the food to come out. So overall poor experience at this particular Denny's. read more

My party was waiting for a seat for almost 10 minutes when a party of 18 came in who suddenly became priority. I asked the manager if we could just squeeze into a both that had been sitting open. His response? A very, very rude "we have a party of 18 to tAke care of". So we got pushed back even though we'd only take up one table. Worst Denny's experience ever! We eat at Denny's often. Usually our regular spot, near home, but decided to eat at this Denny's as it was very close from SD County Fair. First issue is we have twelve in our company. The staff who sat us, sat us on at an eight chair table. The staff than places two chairs at each end of the table to fit twelve people. But how in the hell are you expected to eat, comfortably, at the end of the tables when you seat two? We request a different table and still did not have enough room. Okay, so be it...get over it and order. We request for twelve straws, from Eva(our waitress), as we usually do not like drinking from the glasses. Eva makes a comment that she is only allowed to give out certain amount of straws, umm....we want straws! Eva, fyi.....lose the attitude. I'm usually a great tipper but friendly service comes a long way. Even if the service isn't perfect the positive attitude makes up for it. read more

Food was fine but half way through our meal, the manager approached our table. Apparently someone was eavesdropping on our private conversation and was "offended" by it. We were not loud or unkind, just discussing conservative viewpoints. With a pretty consistent 3.5 rating, he should consider that we still have freedom of speech protected in this country if not in his restaurant. He should have reminded the eavesdroppper of that. The worst sandwich I've ever had. Ordered the "Philly Cheese Steak" sandwich for $11.99. When the sandwich was delivered, it smelled funny, sort of a "sour" smell. I reluctantly took a bite and to my surprise, the meat was not sliced thin, as a Philly Cheese Steak sandwich should, but consisted of about six big chunks of spoiled meat. Can't say what type of meat these chunks were, but they tasted and smelled sour!! Also, the "cheese sauce" that smothered the sandwich smelled and tasted sour too. How on earth can they serve spoiled meat and cheese sauce to their customers??? They are knowingly making their customers sick! After a couple of bites of this mess, I couldn't eat anymore. So, my $20 meal consisted of some fries and a glass of Iced tea. I told my server that the ingredients of the this sandwich were spoiled and her response was to drop the check on my table. I'm going to report this to the authorities and hope they close the place before someone dies from food poisoning. read more

I had the chance to try this place the week of Christmas the 28th to be exact. I have been here not once but twice before in the past and did not experience very good customer service at all. Every booth has seats that sink way low putting you in a awkward position when eating and the restrooms are in bad need of remodel. The food was mediocre to say the least. To begin with the hostess her name was "Nanette" she seemed more worried about "covering the front" her words not mine telling us she couldn't get us coffee after she sat us. I really don't care to have your duties outlined to me and what your responsible for covering are those are your duties not mine! I glanced back to the front and there was no one even there at the front?! Apparently the place she was supposed to getting back to!?! She continued with her sarcastic comments about where we where sitting because we had moved to get a better view of the TV. I know moving can throw off the game a hostess may have going on but it wasn't even very busy and our server didn't mind at all. I will not be coming back anytime soon! read more

Okay, to start with I wasn't very happy when my husband decided to stop here. We haven't had the best of luck with this chain.It can be hit or miss depending on the location. It was late, we had had a long day at Legoland and I just wanted something close for our little family of four. As this was next to our hotel it fit the bill nicely. Driving in and out of the parking lot is a nightmare. Not their fault but something to keep in mind. Luckily we walked over. Part way through trying to decide what he wanted to order my ten year old son had a meltdown and started crying. Apparently there were too many choices. Our waitress, Sam, was great! She came over and talked him through it, slowly narrowing down the choices. When she was finished he was laughing and had decided on a double cheeseburger. She let him sub hash browns for the fries. My daughter ended up with a slam and since I am not in the habit of giving my eight year old coffee she let us order two hot chocolates (instead of juice and coffee) and my son drank one. Oh, and by the way, the double cheeseburger was huge! My son truly enjoyed it. Thank you Sam for making what could have been a very awkward dinner into a pleasant family meal. Went in today with my family to eat pancakes, unfortunately we found our experience to be horrendous. The food itself was delicious, no complaint in that department, however, our experience with out waitress Carolina was horrible. The minute we sat down Carolina greeted us with a cold and look of annoyance. Anyway, I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt and so I ignored it, however, I began to notice Carolina's attitude towards other guests and noticed that she was a lot friendlier and even laughing with customers who were caucasian/white. I even noticed that she was cold and unfriendly to an elderly woman. I really felt discriminated due to the fact that my family and I are Hispanic. She has to learn to be friendly to everyone despite race and age. Before I left I made sure to let the manager know about Carolina's attitude towards us. Manager Robert was attentive and promised me that it would not happen again, as soon as my family and I left, I did see Robert pull Carolina outside to have a serious talk with her. ok so first of all it took us (a group of 4) a while to get seated and its not like it was packed. We didn't get seated because there was nobody at the front desk which i thought was very odd. second of all it took us 40 MINUTES to get our food and our waiter never came to check on us. We were about to leave. the food was ok, not worth waiting 40 minutes for. The couple sitting behind us was also getting mad that their food was taking forever so it wasn't just us. lastly when we went to go pay we had separated checks and one of the waitress asked for a total, looked at the tip (which we tipped them nothing) and she chuckled at us in disbelief. i felt really disrespected. i was so mad. horrible business doesn't deserved to be tipped. i definitely won't be coming to Denny's anymore they just lost a customer. i would give them 0 stars if it was possible. read more
