    Burnt toast

As a fellow server, I don't leave negative reviews lightly, but this experience was extremely disappointing. From the moment we arrived, the service felt like we were inconveniencing the staff. The male host/server was unfriendly and made us feel like helping guests was a chore. Instead of placing our food on the table, he handed us our plates, which came across as unprofessional. The food only added to the disappointment. The food took way to long to come out. The toast was burnt, the eggs were cold, and there was very little table service or follow-up after our food was delivered. No one checked on us to see if everything was okay or if we needed anything. Working in the service industry myself, I understand that everyone has difficult days, but being courteous and welcoming is a fundamental part of hospitality. Guests should never feel like they're a burden simply for dining at a restaurant. Denny's, I hope you invest more in training your staff on both customer service and proper serving etiquette. Your hosts and servers are the face of your restaurant, and professionalism and kindness go a long way. This was one of the most unprofessional dining experiences I've had, and it was truly disappointing.

    Special Rudolph meal

The food and milkshakes were amazing; Reina was a very kind and thoughtful server! The environment was nice as well. The overall experience was amazing, and I had a great time! Hope to go back soon.

Rarely come here, the restaurant has made so many improvements everything was excellent. From the moment you walk in you are greeted and seated. Super fast and friendly service considering it was very busy for lunch time. Food was very good. If you love coffee and cream they keep refilling your cup. Plenty of parking, low prices, a lot of specials and different items to choose from. Kids specials and senior specials.

Welcome Offer that server was unwilling to look into for us.

Our server today for breakfast was nice. There is a guy who I think is the busser and last time got us drinks to go, he's a team player for sure. The server came to the table, didn't introduce herself, ask how are we doing or if we've been there before. Anything. Straight to "are you ready to order?" It could be that she is new or was never trained properly. We had to ask for napkins, boxes, etc. which a guest should never have to ask you for. You know if someone if done eating and there's food on the table, you can ask if we need boxes. Everyone who eats needs napkins. Little things like that matter. I didn't give the lady a good tip specifically because every-time we asked her something, she either forgot or seemed like it was an inconvenience for her to get it. When she gave us our bill, I wanted a coffee to go and a to-go cup for my soda but she gave the bill and walked away so she didn't give me the opportunity to even ask. Which to me, I work in the restaurant industry and going the extra mile to ask if I wanted drinks to go would've made a huge impact. I will come back for the food and vibe, but giving excellent service is not hard if you really care and love what you do. The guest can read if you don't, and today it seemed like she did not really care.

My wife ends up getting the same tot scramble every time because of how good it is and I think it's amongst the best things of their menu. A few negatives this time: - asked for an empty plate and was given one that was pretty dirty (almost noticeably dirty) and had leftover food on the side of it from last use. - the price has become a little much. I'd like to see the prices go down about 25% and it would be perfect. - added cheese to my eggs and in my opinion, it could have been a bit more cheese on it. - not much a negative but more a personal preference. The waffle I got had almost too much butter on it. Again, not a negative, and I could have just put half of it to the side, but almost every bite ended up with too much butter. That's my fault. Other than these few things, very enjoyable and I would come back. I loved the bacon and my wife's farm skillet. Last time we came they gave us an envelope to use next time for a surprise discount. I would like to see more of that going forward to fix the price issue.

When Tara and I were dating one of her favorite things to do was grab a meal at IHOP. Breakfasts,…read morelate night dinners, post-film treats--all were susceptible to being done at IHOP. It's because of this I got very familiar with Swedish Crepes or Pancakes, as some might call them. I don't know if they were ever my favorite style of pancakes but they were always an option on those rare occasions I wanted something with more fruit than blueberry. Tara always appreciated me making an effort to broaden my perspective on what a good pancake or crepe constituted. That being said, I hardly ever run into great Swedish crepes. Usually the butter or compote is sub-standard, and I usually feel like I should've gotten something different. Silver Dollar Pancake House makes some majestic Swedish crepes. Yes, it's more of a cranberry than a lingonberry, but otherwise the compote and Swedish butter are spot-on. The crepes came out nice and thin, but still super flavorful. Everything came together so great. Even the fact the special comes with six sausages after you switch out the bacon is amazing. I would get this deal over and over again. The service at the counter was frenzied and focused. Every time I needed my coffee refilled, the server was on it. The food came quickly and there were frequent check-ins. It's literally everything you could want in customer service at a counter. Yes, the ambiance is bit crowded and a bit hectic. I don't envy trying to get a seat in the dining room because everything is but cramped up in there. That being said, I don't think anyone waited longer than fifteen minutes and folks seemed genuinely glad to be there. It's the price you pay for eating at a popular breakfast spot with breakfast entrees this delicious. Plus, eating at the counter always seemed open. And from someone who hates eating at counters most of the time, that's saying a lot that I would suggest it as a viable option. Overall, this is the dream place for those like Tara who can't get enough of pancakes and a damn good option for those like me who are content to keep their amateur status intact by only occasionally indulging in the Swedish signature dish.

Ok so about 1130 am this place was packed and instead of waiting for a table, I opted for a seat at the counter. I enjoy that because you really get to see how everything is prepared and the staff in action, plus you know when your food is coming out. Anyway, sat down looked over the menu, sorry I did not get pics of the menu‍. I ordered the Sante Fe Skillet and a cup of coffee, the server was cheerful and seemed happy I made my mind up in a few seconds. Again I was hungry. I am glad I ordered the skillet. Hash browns, bell peppers, eggs, and chicken... Amanda (server) brought out several hot sauces and then mentioned the homemade salsa!?! Normally I am skeptical about "homemade " anything, ... this time I was surprised. They do make it fresh and it does has some heat . The flavor is spot on, "almost" like moms So good! The first is the AC was set at 78 and when you sat close to a window it was hot. The second is the banana pie we bought. The reason I could tell is because they didn't fully mix the packet (I'm attaching photo of it from the pie we took home) I would likely eat here again (not when it's hot out though) and would skip the pie because it's the same as what I could buy premade at a grocery store

Ever had to take back your words and eat them?…read more Such are my thoughts about El Cerrito Cafe. Quite awhile ago we had breakfast here. Their Chicken Fried Steak was not an experience I chose to remember, with uncooked heavy breading, and clearly not hand dipped. Even the gravy failed. So, it took us some 5+ years to return. It was only because the Yelp masses kept giving them the thumbs up that helped change my mind and try again. This time we left happy. My better half was very happy with his hard taco plate. The shredded beef filling was very good, and because there were three tacos, there was more than enough to ensure he had leftovers. The rice and beans were nicely seasoned as well. The rice never made it home, I found it too irresistable, so gobbled it down myself. Very unusual for me. Then came my breakfast burrito, the El Cerrito Burrito (my sneaky way of tasting all the traditional breakfast meats in one fell swoop). It's a hefty conglomeration of ham, sausage, and bacon, scrambled egg, fried potato, and big chunks of fresh avocado. Wonderful. A little over half of that came home for a second meal. And I could not get enough of their fresh, lightly spicy salsa. It paired perfectly with the burrito. So, while I still cannot vouch for their Chicken Fried Steak, I can assure you, we are going to add El Cerritos Cafe into our rotation of good, local breakfast spots and let bygones be bygones. Final tip, everything was moderately priced, making it a great choice for budget minded families. Service = great. Ambiance = super cute, rustic Western themed. Hospitality = very friendly The only thing missing? No homemade pies lovingly baked by the little ol' granny hiding in the back. I could get pretty excited over that!
