I am a Chef at the DoubleTree Holtel in Jackskonville, Florida. It isn't hard to please me, just do the bare minimum. I know it can be stressful in our business. This Denny's outstanding. Our server Liz (Alizabeth) was amazing. She was ​​far surpassed any expectations that I would have had for a restaurant like Denny's. The food is usually pretty good, but the service was spectacular. We didn't wait at the front, we were immediately sat. Liz was pleasant. She engaged with confidence amd a knowledge of her menu that was refreshing. I was please to have been seated in her sectisection. Additionally the restaurant was clean and inviting. The restrooms clean. The parking lot free of debris with easy and ample parking. When you're traveling and need a meal, you want efficient service and tasty food! I stopped at the Cordele Denny's because it's near a gas station and both necessities can be had in a shorter amount of time. I got the "fit" egg white scramble with the fruit cup. This used to be on the over 55 menu but now it's only in the regular menu offerings. But it has what I like (spinach, mushrooms, and grape tomatoes mixed into the egg whites, turkey bacon slices, and an English muffin). You can get it with the entire eggs, too. The fruit is usually grapes, and sliced bananas and strawberries but also there may be blueberries and pineapple chunks. I got a hot chocolate/cocoa for a "pick me up" and you may order whipped cream topping. I was so hungry that I started eating before I took photos! LOL. I am from Cordele and growing up we always loved going to Dennys. I can say it most definitely has gone down hill!!! Worst I've ever had. Seen our waitress, Natasha (what the host told me her name is) 2 times so I couldn't even let her know that our food was horrible. Didn't want the gravy on the food but they put it on there, potato's were cold and tasted old, didn't even get my salad which was my side for another 20 minutes. My husband who had the skillet said his just tasted burnt and tasted weird. Server never brought the check, after sitting there awhile waiting on her we decided just to go to cashier and see if we could pay without the check. She was able to pull it up. We told her what was going on and she didn't care, that much was obvious. Said that our server was doing a lot tonight. The only way that would even be believable was if it was busy which it wasn't at all. There was no discount, no talk with manager or anything for our problems. We walk outside and see our server on the side of restaurant on the phone and smoking a cigarette. Sum it all up worst experience I've ever had anywhere and that's really saying something. I'm first in line and she had the audacity to look right around me and ask the two Caucasian men about their Togo order. Like I was a pure ghost and she didn't see me standing there. It's a Denny's not a gourmet restaurant, so cant go above 4. But cant get better. Service was top notch though by Brittany L. Very hard working. And thorough. Menu continues to improve. Wife had Cobb salad with grilled chicken and avocado. Daughter had chococana pancakes. Both reported as really good. Son had chicken strips and fries and more fries. I had the super slam, 2 eggs, 2 giant fluffy delicious pancakes and bacon. I substituted grits for the potatoes. Family went to a famous name pancake chain over holidays that were nowhere as good pancakes. Only 5.99 for super slam. Dont forget the aarp 15% discount. Not all dennys are as good as this. I was driving thru from ATL to FL & stopped for take-out. It was NYear's Day 2015 so a bit understaffed. The staff was very nice & polite. They greeted me, & quickly took my order. I ordered the sirloin steak dinner with steamed broccoli & rice & a side of 2 breakfast ham slices. They also filled up my travel cup with complimentary ice. I came here because I was in town on business, and due to covid there was little options for dine in. They had a limited menu but my waitress pulled some strings for me to get all you can eat pancakes. I started off with 3 and immediately requested more, each reorder took 15+ minutes to come out because there was only one chef. The pancakes themselves were delicious, very fluffy with a vanilla taste and aroma. I ended up eating 13 pancakes but I left with room in my stomach because I couldn't wait any longer between refills. Overall a very clean and well managed Denny's, I just wish I had more time to eat their pancakes. read more

Where do i start. Walking in, it was nice very welcoming. Got seated. Waitress came by n took our drink order. At that time we gave her our appetizers order n ordered our meals as well. It was only me and my daughter. Drinks came out. Daughter got a refill before appetizers finally came out. No big deal played on our phones. The waitress came by once after we was done with appetizers to let us know our food will be out in a minute. Now i could be wrong but every Dennys i have dine at the manager usually walks by and checks on the guest as well at the waitress. We sat there for i say 45 mins no dinner. Finally i said lets go. Went to the front to pay for the drinks and appetizers we shared. While also exspressing how i shouldnt have waited that long and still did not get my dinner. I was told because of a party that came in. Well that would have been nice to know when i walked in that itll be a lil bit longer wait. Im a truck driver n i am on my 10 hour break. So i normally try to go eat where i know they are quick. I arrived at 6:35 pm. 7:22 is when i walked to the front. Now through out the time waiting n everyone staring n looking at each other wondering whats taking so long. I made eye contact with the manager. At that time i didnt know she was the manager. So when i finally had enough n walked to the front because no one checked on us since the last time waitress walking by n saying ur food wil be out in a min i expressed how upset i was. I told the young ladies theres no excuse on why i was not told this from the beginning. Or even later while i was waiting. One lady went n got the manger to void out our food we didnt get so i can pay for the rest. N well thats when i found out the one i made eye contact with was the manger n well her attitude needs to be adjusted. She tried not to give me my receipt and said she needed it cause it showed the voided items. I said then make a copy cause i need one for my books. At that point the waitress said well her food is ready now. I said nope we good trash it or do what ever. The manger walked to the back to get the receipt. She then came up to the counter with 44 mins written on the copy of the paper of my receipt. And said maam u only waited 44 mins. I said since she put in our food she said yes. I asked how long have u worked at dennys or any restaurant. She didnt want to answer and said she has customers to deal with. I then said now u want to handle customers but u wasnt worried about us when u was in the kitchen just standing and talking. Like i told the 2 ladies at the host counter she should have been out not once but twice already checking on everyone making sure we understood it was going to be a minute before we got our food. At that point i would have stayed. But to see a whole room looking around n staring and the look of wheres my food on everyones face and she not acknowledged it is crazy and lazy. But to also try and check me about my time when i put my drink, appetizer, and food order in at the same time is crazy. But then wouldnt take construction criticism and walk away. I was not loud i was not disrespectful. I had the same tone she gave me and was ready to leave. All i was going to tell her is that to be a manager u need to read the room better, n when you have a party come in and know things are going to be behind coming out. Express that to the customers. Make sure our drinks are filled and stay smiling. Nope none of that happen. Im not from here and was not about to go to jail for being ignorant. The two ladys in the front i give them props for apologizing and trying to explain the issue. Even do it was not they place to do so. The manager didnt once even apologized or show that she even cared that i had a problem. She did do try to keep my receipt and when i asked for someones number to speak to over the store. She said i can call the number on the receipt cause she doesnt have any other number. So ill post my complaint here. read more

I didn't want to eat at Cracker Barrel again, and I was at the same exit that I'd stopped at on the way to Atlanta, but now I was going the opposite direction.. So I chose to eat at Denny's. The place was HOPPING. It was Sunday evening and apparently a church group was making the most of the night. I came in and used the rest room - very small for such a large place, with an oddly placed column in the ladies room. No Actual Handicapped stall either.. Like I said, strange. However the staff was friendly and prompt. I was sat off in a quiet section and treated well. I'd asked that my Post Roast not be served on the bread, but the bread to be served on the side. When it was given to me, the bread was on the side ... AND... beneath it. Oh well, I didn't eat the soaked bread, but did have the dry, and it was tasty. I asked for my diet coke to go, and they had no issue with that. read more

The new menu was a pleasant surprise! We stopped in on our return trip home and stayed in a hotel nearby. Mediterranean Chicken was my husband's favorite topped off with the apple cobbler dessert.
