This place was recommended to us by someone in town. It was described as a fancy place. This is not a fancy place. It is a bar. However they do have good food for a decent price. Everything came out hot and fresh. We did not wait an obnoxiously long time for anything. The server was very friendly and helpful, refilled our drinks came back to check on us. I really like the way they worded something on the menu. It says that you will get a 3% discount if you use cash. Instead of saying there's a 3% up charge for using a credit card, they worded it in a more positive way. read more

I was staying in Cordele and one evening I walked over from the hotel to get dinner. The restaurant was not busy; only one other table was occupied though it sounded like there were people in the bar on the other side. The dining room is cool and spacious with a black and teal color scheme and stainless steel table tops. I ordered the watermelon Mai tai since it was watermelon festival weekend and the cocktail was good. Nice strong spiced rum flavor, but not as much watermelon came through as I expected. It could have used a bigger glass, something taller, I think. For food I ordered the pasta fresco with shrimp and it included a choice of salad. I had the Caesar salad which was fine. Maybe a bit heavy on the dressing, good flavor though. My pasta was huge. I was happy with the fresh zucchini, spinach, and tomato. The spinach stems probably should have been removed; they were stringy. The shrimp was well cooked. Again this dish was heavy on the fettuccine sauce. Served very hot. The slice of garlic toast on the side was merely okay. It was too tough and didn't soak up sauce well. Also it was small. The toast was the thing I enjoyed least about the meal. Crowded hostess stand led us to sit at the bar which quickly told us this place was not for us. Very loud people doing shots across the bar, dirty menus and obnoxious patrons prompted us to leave thankfully before ordering. We stop here every year on our way to Florida. Last year our service and food was not good. This year it was even worse! Our server was horrible. Took forever to get our appetizer. I ordered the 16 East Salad that was advertised as having a spring mix and avocado. The salad only had romaine lettuce and when I asked I was told, we know how it's advertised that way but this is how they make it. I also had to ask for avocado to add to my salad. Why not make the salad as advertised unless the customer requests a modification. I also ordered their featured Horseshoe Margarita in the regular size. This place was within walking distance from where I was staying, so I looked forward to coming here. I'm glad I did. This place is pretty classy. Not suit and tie fancy, but probably appreciates the collared shirts, Polo Ralph Lauren jeans/slacks Stacy adams, but they welcome all walks of clientele. Has really good decorum throughout the establishment. Even though it's pretty clean for the most part, it could use a good dusting especially on the lighting. I noticed as I was leaving, they had frog legs tonight. Wish I would have went in a little bit later. But I ordered fried Green tomatoes, which were absolutely stellar. We also ordered some fried pickles, which, I've had better. The menu is pretty diverse but small enough to not get lost in. They have a good array of different types of food. Our bartender was okay. Kind of slow on the service side of it, I sat without a drink for probably about 20 minutes before he asked me if I wanted another one which I didn't anyways so it wasn't a problem, but he was nice and professional. We were recommended this place by some coworkers that live locally and it was a good recommendation. We started off with the gator bites, the waiter told us they tasted pretty good, and they were right. It somewhat tasted like chicken and it paired well with the sauce. I ordered some chicken alfredo pasta which came out quickly. The chicken was moist and the outside was crispy. The pasta was also good and pairs well with the baked potato. We were hungry and couldn't have been satisfied with our meal at 16 East! We were served excellent and fresh entrees. The 16 East was amazing with fresh greens and additions. I'm very picky and this was one of the best salads with grilled chicken. My husband enjoyed his pasta dish too but since I'm writing the review I can't speak for him. I have to give a shout out to our server Braylee, she was on top of things and quickly responded to our requests in a very friendly and efficient manner. We were repeat visitors as we returned from FL. We again were greeted with a huge smile and sat in the bar area. Shante told us she would be out server. We ordered a beer an water and said we knew we wanted the Caesar Salad. She got that and then I ordered Smothered Chicken...yum. It came with okra that was outstanding. This is real Southern freshly cooked meals. We got hugs from our now friend Alexay our wait person from 10 days ago. Hubby had the loaded burger and sweet potato fries and of course the warm Pecan pie a la mode. We were also surprised the manager came over to thank us for the review we did on Trip Advisor. I was told by TA I couldn't do another review so I came here. This is a friendly place and they really want you to enjoy the food and service. Unexpected stop in Cordele when our car broke down on our way to Michigan. A local recommended 16 East when we asked for a restaurant with a full bar (required cocktails after the day we had!) Arrived around 6:30 on a Friday. Seated immediately, busy but not full. Greeted quickly by our server Tristan who took our drink order. The house margarita was a little too sweet or mixer heavy but still drinkable, the Manhattan and the Old Fashioned were good - balanced and well poured. I later requested a French Martini, they didn't have Chambord (not unusual, many bars don't) but Tristan told us what they did have and bartender concocted an excellent (and colorful) alternative using vodka, pineapple juice and grenadine). Sadly I did not get a photo, it was pretty. For appetizers we got a dozen oysters lightly steamed - fresh and tasty. Also the house fried chips- a delicious baked, sliced then floured and quick fried potatoes with a yummy dipping sauce. Lightly fried (not greasy at all) flavorful and served piping hot. Both came out quickly. The potatoes were seriously good!! Needs a catchier name... For dinner the red snapper special was fresh and sizable (hubby is a seafood snob and loved it), my Cajun pasta was tasty, plentiful and chock full of the shrimp I'd added. My son's steak was well seasoned and flavorful if a little underdone (rare vs medium rare he'd ordered) but he didn't send it back because it was so good. All in all a great experience. The first time I went here I got a really good medium rare burger. The second time I ordered it and the burger was borderline raw in the middle. Third time I ordered it medium thinking that would solve the problem and it came out borderline raw in the middle. Went this afternoon and ordered it medium well and once again got a burger that was inedible and raw in the center. As usual I ate around the outside. The person cooking is either unable to gauge the temperature of meat or just doesn't care. Well congratulations to them I'm writing this from my bathroom floor where I've been since I started puking an hour ago. Cordel was our layover spot as we traveled from Tampa to Helen. This was basically half way. Yelping for good places 16 east popped up so here we are ! Really nice building and big! Lots of room. We didn't wait long to be seated. Service was fast and or server was great. We started with read service which was really good. Soft and buttery. Then we moved on to the Fried green tomatoes were really nice. The bread was crunchy and the drizzles tasted really good with the green tomatoes. For our mains I had the 16 east catch. I really liked this. Maybe a tad salty but I like salt! Cajun shrimp were awesome. Deb had the Pork chops came in pairs! So tender and juicy. A bit salty but really well cooked. 16 East appears to be the only non-fast food option near I-75 in Cordele, GA. We were driving from Fort Lauderdale to Atlanta on Halloween & wanted to stop for dinner. We didn't want fast food, but we weren't dressed for a fancy place either. We started checking on Yelp, and there didn't seem to be many options that would keep us close to our route. We saw 16 East had American food & was a few miles away, so we thought we'd give it a try. There was a 30 minute wait for a table, but we were in a hurry & said we didn't mind sitting at the bar. (Drinks were very reasonably priced, so we each ordered a beer.). The place is cute, there is tree made from wine bottles in the entry way; but the rest of the decor is pretty standard. The menu is diverse; steaks, chicken, seafood, salad, and bar food. I ordered the 6 oz. sirloin with a side of sautéed onions & peppers & a side of zucchini. The steak could have been hotter, but it was absolutely delicious! The zucchini was good, and the onions & peppers were really delicious as well. (I thought about ordering another side of the onions & peppers.). My husband ordered the fish of the day, which was swai; which we had never heard of, but apparently it's a kind of inexpensive catfish from Vietnam. He said it was just ok; he ordered it blackened but it didn't look or taste very blackened. (It was only $12, so pretty good for the price.) it also came with 2 sides: a good sized & fresh side salad, which he really enjoyed, and mixed vegetables. The 2 girls at the bar weren't super friendly, but they weren't rude either. The food came out quick and we were in and out, with our bill paid in under an hour; so we left full & happy. read more

Hubby had fettuccini with marinara and grilled chicken, garlic toast and side salad...large serving of pasta with a good amount of chicken. The salad was fresh and crispy with flavorful, croutons (homemade??). There was no garlic taste to the buttered toast. I had delicious, juicy chopped steak served with sauteed onions, peppers and mushrooms. For my two sides I had garlic mashed potatoes (no garlic taste) and steamed broccoli with cheese sauce (definitely tasted canned). Hubby had a flavorful rum runner. The garlic (?) rolls were hot, yeast rolls. Again, no garlic flavor...do you see a pattern here? We arrived just before 7 pm and were seated immediately. This place is another hidden gem in small town Ga. Menu and specials were not what you would expect in south Ga, but taste was outstanding. Oysters Rockfella, Grouper, and Ribeye were some of the items we had. Ribeye was average, no real wow factor on flavor. Oysters and Grouper were amazing.
