Another disappointing dinner at The Station! I just don't understand how they can undercook one entree and overcook another at the same table! Food was very bland and cool, I guess it wasn't microwaved long enough. Undercooked beef is not the way to get someone to return to your restaurant. The space is dark and dated, the health department survey score is the best thing about the place, at 100%. They could really be something special instead of mediocre like most of the other restaurants in Americus. Will not return voluntarily! read more

We went here while staying on vacation one Saturday night. Although we didn't have reservations, we got a comfy booth on the bar side. It was still quiet enough for conversations but even more than that, my husband and I both said that it's one of the BEST steaks we've ever had! I was in town for one night and needed a good quality meal. I sat at the bar and ordered a ribeye. Paul was very hospitable and made sure I had everything I needed. the atmosphere was nice and easy. The lovely southern gentry that makes Americus great was on hand to offer a good story and a good time. If you like sitting with empty tea glasses and having to practically beg for your ticket to pay then absolutely go here. Other wise it's mediocre at best. Not impressed. We ordered an appetizer that never arrived. And was still on the ticket when we finally received it. 10 out of 10 don't go here. Thankfully we were just passing through. read more

Perfect place to go if you want a racist server who is shaking and almost crying coming to your table because of a nonwhite child. Our waitress would not even serve my daughter her food. She sat it on the edge of the table opposite from where she was. She then would not come to check on our table. We had to wait 20 minutes just to see her reappear. She slammed drinks down very aggressively and again, would not serve my daughter's hers. We should have trusted our gut when she very clearly did not want to serve us from the moment we walked in. So if you're into supporting racist establishments, this is your place. The food wasn't even good, it was dirty, and half the decor they had out was broken. read more

My husband and I are new in town and visited The Station for a date night. We honestly had no clue what to expect, but man oh man was the food and service wonderful! Chop Salad: bed of iceberg lettuce with three whole baby carrots and two thick slices of tomatoes. Soup of the day: mushroom and sausage: it's ok. Fried Grits: delicious, truly, but served with what tasted like from-a-jar Pace brand Salsa. Spinach salad: again, fresh ingredients just dumped in a bowl. I'll start off with that I am a big city foodie snob (Tampa, FL) and I raised my eyebrow like the Rock when my wife decided to come to The Station for dinner after a tour of GSW campus. So we went to a local store next door to wait until the restaurant opened and asked the staff what was worth ordering. She mentioned the Crab Rangoon and the fried macaroni and cheese for starters and basically most of the dinner menu was worth trying. So we decided to give it a try and started with the Crab Rangoon and the fried Mac & cheese. So let me tell you that they hit it out of the park. The Crab Rangoon and the Mac & Cheese was better than The Cheese Cake Factory! We ordered the ribeye, seaboard chicken and grouper for our entree and they didn't let us down either. Some places are good for groups, others aren't. This one is excellent for groups. Our church group of over 20 people had a wonderful meal here and everyone was served quickly and efficiently. The menu hasn't changed in a decade, but the specials keep it fresh. Their steaks are great, don't miss the fried grits and keep the sweet tea coming. My favorite meal is the Conductors crepes, chicken stuffed crepes with a lemon Stilton sauce over them. If you have a big group call ahead, relax and don't worry. read more

I know why President Jimmy and First Lady Rosalyn Carter travel here on a regular basis from the Plains - the next city over - to spend an evening... it is good stuff! I enjoyed the two tuna salad today - and I really believe every bite got better as I ate. It was crisp and fresh and delicious and filling - packed with thick and juicy and well-seasoned blackened tuna on top of plentiful greens with avocado, tomatoes, cucumbers, mushrooms, onions, other veggies, cheese, and a delicious house made dressing. The restaurant has multiple rooms, and while they are only open for lunch hours and dinner hours (not all day), they do host music and other entertaining events. Train station ambiance is fun, and the TVs on the walls keep folks tuned in to news and sports. The bathroom is wheelchair accessible and clean. The staff is extremely friendly and attentive - though not overbearing. Prices are fair for the food quality of the food. Shout out to Amelia - who took great care of us today. I am visiting Americus this week from Maryland. I wish I had more time here - because I would definitely come back and try more menu items! read more

The Station is fantastic. We ordered take out as we are holed up in a local hotel for the night. I don't normally expect takeout to be as good as what you get when dining in, but our food was phenomenal. We ordered the Fontina Flatiron Steak with a side of fried grits, Seth's Steakhouse Salad, a side of the garlic butter pasta and key lime pie and Savannah's Strawberry Shortcake. The entrees were so good I'm writing this before we even get to the desserts. Everything was perfectly prepared and incredibly delicious. We would recommend the Station to anyone. My wife and I decided to have date night out, and wanted to try a place we've never been. We settled on 'The Station'. We were not disappointed! I had the fontina flat iron with a cheese grit cake and button mushrooms. My wife had the shrimp and grits (made with their famous fried cheese grit cake), salad with homemade vinaigrette dressing. Neither of us had a single bad thing to say about any of our food. The service? The service was possibly better than the food (if that's possible)! We were greeted and asked if we had a reservation. Wanted to try a new place to eat in Americas. Very nice clean appearance with a campy train station look. Friendly staff although our particular server was very forgetful. Had to be reminded a few times for items we Requested (napkins, sauce, bill). The appetizer (buffalo chicken spring rolls) came out cold and did not have the chilli sauce as indicated on the menu. It was replaced with ranch. They were mushy and not very flavorful. We ordered the Ribeye steak and baked potato. The potatoes tasted dry like they were microwaved. The Ribeye was cooked to perfection. The steamed vegetables were very good in presentation and flavor. The salad was fresh and fair size. The total cost for both meals and two ice teas was $87.48 before tip. The menus did not have prices on them and the menu did not match the menus on line. Coming in from out of town, I had family heap mounds of praise on The Station and was excited to try it. Perhaps my expectations were a bit too high. Nice location and building with train memorabilia on the walls. Very high ceilings led to echos and loudness, making it difficult to hear. Service was very friendly and efficient. The food was very mediocre. I tried the stuffed mushrooms and fried cheese grits for apps. The grits were the better of the two but neither were anywhere close to "delicious". Went with the ribeye, salad, and garlic noodles for entree. The ribeye was cooked to the proper doneness but was either marinated in, or doused with, Dale's Marinade or some similar tasting, Worcestshire based liquid. I've never encountered this in a restaurant, much less when it is not mentioned on the menu. The garlic noodles were disgusting and a complete waste of space on my plate...they tasted like cheap margarine with maybe a dash of garlic powder. Why is this on the menu? The Station is reasonably priced and somewhere to go out for a big steak in Americus instead of driving out of town. Rated against similar restaurants, regardless of location, I felt this was a very mediocre experience. read more

This place is delicious!! My family got Sam's Shrimp and Scallop, Rib Eye Sandwich, Chicken Crepes, and Grouper dish. They were all tasty. They were cooked perfectly. The service was good and attentive. I would be back when I come visit. Most tables are reserved so it would be if you reserved ahead of time, when we came in there were 3 non-reserved tables. Finding a good restaurant in Americus over the years has usually been an exercise in futility. During my trip today, I was surprised to find a nice restaurant downtown that people seem to like. I was only looking for a quiet place to sit and get out of the sun for a little while. I really enjoyed The Station. Pleasantly surprised with this find. We stayed at the Windsor Hotel across the street and were looking for dinner at 8pm. We got in the door at 8:40 pm and received great service. The server was tentative, pleasant, and friendly and had recommendations from the menu. Ribeye, chicken sandwich, and burgers were all good. Would recommend but make sure you check the hours as the sidewalks roll up at 9 pm in this little town. read more

Best ribeye ever! So flavorful. No sauce required! Very moist. Wedge of fried grits? Shut up! They were AMAZING! I forfeited the twice baked potatoes once I had the grits because I was getting so full (they were a bit spicy). My husband and I split the ribeye and the portion was impressive. We were both full at the end of the meal. But hey- we went for dessert and coffee and YUM! Kids chicken fingers were real chicken breasts, no processed stuff here! What a concept!?!? The crepes- very good! Not too eggy and paired well with the whip cream and strawberries. The peanut butter pie was very good. Tastes like one big peanut butter cup. Second time I have been as I pass through Americus. Food is good and service is also solid. Had the wings last time I was there and they were good, hot, but really dried out - like they oven warm them after they were cooked and sauced. Can't say I didn't like them, as I am a fan of drier wings, but they were different as they had no wet sauce on them at all. They were also kind enough to do a half chef salad for me at their recommendation. My daughter had the grouper, which she enjoyed. She got it grilled and they season it well. Prices weren't bad at all, especially for the amount of food they provide. We will be back when passing through again. read more

Living in Atlanta my expectations may have been too high for this small town restaurant. Either that or we should have had the hamburgers (which looked amazing coming to other tables.). But we tried the shrimp dishes - I had the "Stuffed Shrimp" which weren't really the type of shrimp you "stuff" so the crab stuffing was just a dollup on top of each small shrimp. The shrimp were "mealy" texture that you get from frozen shirmp out of a bag. The menu said they were "tiger shrimp" - uh, no. The whole dish was swimming in garlic butter. My wife had the shrimp and fried cheese grits. The grits were good but the same mealy shrimp were used in the dish and she couldn't make herself finish it. My baked potato was good. The salads were just cut iceberg with a couple of baby carrots on top. Service was attentive and fast although one of the three waitresses didn't seem to have much personality. She did finally smile when I worked extra hard to engage with her. I gave it 3 stars since, in all honesty, the beef and hamburger dishes looked like they may have been a better choice - this isn't a sea food place. read more

Eh, hit and miss ... mostly miss. Definitely call and try to get a reservation as this seems to get a quicker seating time than walking in, even if you call last minute. Wife's salad was pretty basic--iceberg lettuce and other veggies. Ranch was average. She had the flat iron steak medium well but the thing was pretty well done. Good flavor, a little dry as you might expect. Thin. Kids got the pizza, corndog and chicken tenders. Fries were really good--nice crisp on the outside, good size, tender inside. Pizza and tenders were pretty standard. Corndog flavor was a bit off. Not sure I would subject the kids to that again. They do have 312 Urban wheat on tap which was a lifesaver. My prime rib sandwich was exactly that--a slab of prime rib on bread. A little difficult to eat as you would imagine. Served with au jus and horseradish sauce so I figured it would be sliced meat in the style of a french dip. Regardless, the meat was good and the horseradish was pretty good as well. It was a little weird to have lettuce and tomato on this thing but still, I dipped it all in the au jus which had a nice flavor. Service was hit and miss as well. Flow was okay till the latter half of the meal. It took a while to get the check. The waitress even commented how everybody was on their phones/devices/books when she got there, indicating she realized the delay. However, after putting down my card, it still took a good 5 minutes for her to pick it up. That on top of probably another 10 waiting for the check seemed like a long time. The oddest thing about the whole experience was that every single person on the waitstaff was speedwalking like I have never seen in a restaurant. It was a Saturday night and they were certainly reasonably busy but there were lots of servers as well. Even though I never felt rushed to finish my meal to turn over the table, I had this uneasy feeling the whole time with these gals nearly running everywhere. It was really weird. All in all, this place is decent but nothing spectacular. Price/quality ratio was a little higher than one would expect. read more

Drove over from Leesburg (about 30 minutes) and it was more than worth the drive. Excellent food, service, and atmosphere. The Fried Mac n Cheese is an amazing appetizer. The ribeye was perfectly cooked and seasoned and on top of that it was very reasonably priced. A ribeye in Albany that is not as good is about $5 more. This place needs to open a second location in Leesburg!! Will be going back soon to try the lambchops, they looked amazing! read more

This is the best restaurant for dinner in Americus IMHO. If you go eat here, you have to try the fried Mac & Cheese - it is delicious!!! Can't get enough of it! The steaks are fabulous. The service is great, but keep in mind that on weekends at dinner time, the restaurant fills up fast.... and it's because the food and the staff are so good! read more
