Running errands around the area and started feeling a little hungry, so I thought... wow, I haven't been to Denny's in forever. When I pulled up and saw people standing outside, I was already preparing myself for a long wait. Surprisingly, the hostess said only 10-15 minutes. Not bad at all for a busy day. I tried the Bourbon Chicken Skillet first, and the sauce was sweeter than I expected. I can see how some people would love it, but personally it wasn't really my thing. The Crazy Spicy Skillet though? So good. The chorizo was cooked perfectly, the potatoes dipped in melted cheese were super satisfying, and the thinly sliced chicken had just the right amount of spice and flavor. Ok... we know Dennys... is just a late night joint we used to go when everything was closed when we were in college or as young adults. Came in on Saturday around 11am and the placed was packed. Got seated 5 minutes after walking in. Got the super grand slam for $10 with an additional surcharge of 50cents for the on going egg shortage at this time. Staff was friendly, but the first 30 minutes while dining in the AC seemed off and it was quite stuffy. Near the end of our meal the AC eventually got turned on or it was dropped lower. So this visit started off with a sweet woman greeting and seating us. We waited about 15 minutes before anyone acknowledged us. That same sweet woman who I would find out was Maribel H and it was her first day, she saw we had no drinks, menus still laying on the table and sitting there as wait staff after wait staff walked by us. She grabbed a tablet and took our order the best she could, she was attentive and a pleasure to talk to. If it wasn't for her I would be trying to give negative stars. A team is only as good as their leadership and it was missing hence the 3 stars. Yet with Maribel H, you are lucky to have someone that was observant and stepped in. This is our local Denny's and we love it! Most of the waiters are really friendly and efficient. I will say they can get pretty busy and at times do not have enough servers. The food is good. Your typical American breakfast, and I've never received my food cold. This is a nice place for the family and they've recently remodeled which makes the place look nicer. Meanwhile two tables of people lined up behind us to pay their bills. One of them reported that their bill was never brought to them, and eventually left since they never did receive a bill. Once seated, we waited a half hour for someone to take our order or bring us water. They never came. But we did hear a waiter explain to the next table that they didn't have much of the stuff that was listed on the menu. We left since it was obvious that they didn't want our business. Nursing a migraine and decided since I'm gonna. I was up all night in pain, so why not get some grub? Sadly, I regretted this decision afterwards. The food was mediocre. It's Denny's though- so what did I except really. But my options were limited at 3am in the morning. I ordered the All-American Slam breakfast with no meat. So, it came with eggs (I added cheese and paid extra for this), hashbrowns (I added cheese and paid extra for this), and the double blueberry pancakes. The hashbrowns were OVERCOOKED. And they threw the cheese on top to cover up the burnt part. The eggs were fine. And the toppings on the pancakes were not fresh. The bananas were mooshy and the strawberries were not ripe. I think I was most upset about the hashbrowns. I love hashbrowns and these were inedible. And the toppings on the pancakes, I just pushed off. The mozzarella sticks were good, but they forgot the ranch dipping sauces I ordered. Overall, half of my food was messed up or not edible. read more
