Denny's? Disgusting Depressing Damn Bad One of the worst places that I have EVER been to and spent money. My family and I only spent $15, but it was so bad, we couldn't wait to leave, and it wasn't even worth it to complain and not pay. The waitress looked like she was clearly not enthused to work there. We asked for water. She replied "Bottle or Tap". Now, I don't really mind Tap Water, but you can ask without telling us that flat out that we're drinking some Jersey Tap Water. Oh, and by the way, when we got our water, the ice melted in like 4 minutes, and the water WAS STILL NOT COLD. Which tells me that they didn't even have the respect to get it from a dispenser. She just opened a faucet and filled up some cups. Why in the world did the simplest order of food for three people take 30+ minutes??? Pancakes, grits, eggs, and bacon? The place wasn't packed, and it still took you 30 minutes to bring out our food? Then, my wife's eggs were UNDER COOKED? There's HAIR in my son's eggs??? The grits were SOLID, resembling the texture of JOINT COMPOUND and obviously had been sitting out! And, my bacon tastes like someone's armpit and once I chewed it, it turned into a grit, like I'm eating pieces of SAND? Plus you can hear the kitchen staff laughing, joking, and singing rap lyrics? Fire them all...burn down the building...and ban every last person that works there from ever entering a kitchen ever again. Service super slow we waited 30 mins to be seated. Over 20 mins to be given menus, then another 30 mins give our drink order, over an hr for food. The coffee wasn't fresh or hot, the food was luke warm borderline cold. Just a horrible experience. We will never come back again. read more

This place is disgusting. I hadn't been to Denny's in years and I quickly remembered why. I had the misfortunate of sitting at a table within view of the kitchen. I watched the window fill with orders and servers simply not taking them to tables (I guess because it wasn't theirs?) who knows. Weird but whatever. Lazy servers is nothing new. That's not the worst part. Since the window was so full, the cook placed a plate ON TOP OF ANOTHER PLATE OF FOOD. Yes. You read correctly. Stay away from this place! Slowest food service I've seen in a long time. Coffee is super bitter. Ordered Mac and cheese for the kids and took 20 minutes to get their meal. And an extra 10 minutes for a side of corn which was so laden with black pepper they were unable to eat it. Wife had the Caesar salad and it was more salad with Caesar it was a liquid mess. Other diners had similar issues with the food and delays. The restrooms reek and are in worse shape than a bad rest stop. read more

I feel the same way as Alex. I don't know what the reviews are so bad. The staff is friendly and the portions are huge. The price point is low so can't fault them for being a fast food style diner. I mean you can't go expecting pretentious food. Their skillets are served too hot and you will burn your mouth trying to eat it. The coffee is barely drinkable. I just moved to the area several months ago and I eat here once or twice a week. The soup is excellent especially the Chicken Noodle and Clam Chowder (Fridays only). I don't eat a lot of breakfasts so I can't comment on them, but I love the 55+ dinner menu. Good prices and the dinners come with soup or salad. Did I mention I like the soup? The staff is friendly and they always come by to see if you need a refill or more napkins. The building is old, but the food and service are just fine! Even the waitress knew it was utterly disgusting after the huge rat ran out from under the booth behind ours and then behind the counter. My friend instantly said we need to go.now. The woman who looked like the manager was not paying attention and was to concerned about a male friend she had sitting on the counter. This is the first ever Denny's I've been to and probably will be my last if this represents a majority of it's restaurants. The place had an odd smell to it when I first entered. And then the tables aren't the cleanest and the seats are practically worn--at least the one I sat on. Anyhow I know they call themselves "America's Diner" but clearly they could do a lot better if they want that title...at least for this location. The only saving grace this place had was our wonderful server. She was fantastic and truly made me and my family feel at home. She did make an oopsie though (she forgot to put in an order but I let it slide because she was just so caring). As for the food it's typical diner chain fare with the same flavors that you would come to expect at an Ihop or Waffle House. My eggs which I asked done fried was presented to me in a wonderfully burnt way...no words to describe. Anyways looking back on it I can't in good conscience knock down every Denny's establishment there is but as for this one...it's crossed out in my book. read more

So im changing my review from a one star to a three star because one my first inital visit to this place was awful!! This place has done a whole 360 !!! They remodled the whole place and the wait staff has stepped it up a notch. Now idk if it is because we went here at a different time of day or they really have gotten on point! I was waiting to pickup my stepson in the lot and had a few minutes to grab a bite. Went in and took a seat. Ordered the Cali Club with onion rings and iced tea. The iced tea was the highlight of the meal. The sandwich was skimpy for $8. The onion rings had a super crunchy crust that was a bit hard to chew. The waitress was nice and the service was good. The tab was $12 and some change. I could have had a lot better sandwich at any other diner for the same or less. Not a good value for a national chain. read more

The one star is for the waiter. He was the only positive thing about this restaurant. To have people waiting while they are staring at tons of empty tables... First strike. Waffle machine broken... Them or food literally took forever and a day, only to have the kitchen leave out half of our items. The waiter literally hovered at the kitchen to get our orders right and was getting just as frustrated as us. The manager put on a big show of being busy while not actually being busy. All in all I really hope or waiter finds employment in a much better establishment because when the kitchen messes up he had to cover for them (I can say it was the kitchen and not him because I had a full view of kitchen and could see how it was not on point today) The said part is because this is the only place I can get my moons over my hammy in the area, I will probably have to come back read more

I get there 20 mins later & they say we don't have any orders, I'm like here's the order #, & you charged my card, They still said they had no idea what I was talking about. I'm a fan of NJ Diners and Denny's, although a chain, is one of my favorites. The Bordentown one (I've been going there for over 25 + years - to back when it was called Sambo's) and I swear I'm there at least once a week to sometimes 4 times a week. The day crew is tops, the second shift is as well, and when I'm still out after midnight, I always seem to wonder into this Denny's and the overnight crew is fine, but sometimes one or two of them may appear a little grouchy (Can't blame them - they were probably stiffed by a customer) Even the three person management crew staff are great, too ! Denny's food is always served correct, hot or cold as it should be. It's clean, well lit, but sometimes the men's room has some issues. If you're passing thru Bordentown off Exit 7 of the NJ Turnpike and want a bite to eat - day or night - hit up the Bordentown Denny's ! Saturday and Sunday afternoons are the most crowded times and fills up to the max, so expect a possible small wait then. read more
