Well on the way to San Bernardino on Sunday April 28,2019 we stoped for dinner and had fabulous service by a Hispanic young lady. She was the shift mgr she was very helpful and food was pretty good. However on the way back to Las Vegas, Nevada we decided to stop and grab two shakes for our drive home. This was on Tuesday afternoon on April 30, 2019 and thinking we were going to be treated as nice is the reason we stopped here again. Surprise the Caucasian manager was a rude nasty lady. We asked why we only got a small shake verses the huge once you get when you eat inside and instead of just answering our question she said that's all you get!! Wow talk about a shocker. My food was great! Delivered to the table hot. Coffee was ok. I love the waitress. Extremely friendly and able to predict what we need. I can hear the manager or shift leader. I say 3 stars because I have had good experiences .. but the last time we went I found a hair in my eggs ... so I told the waitress and they fixed our food and gave us my meal for free but I just put the food into a To go counter and left it there .. This location did a great job taking care of the customers. The only thing was that it seemed that they were a bit understaffed to take care of the large demand of customers. I want to give a big shout out to the waitresses and kitchen workers for busting their butt off. The ladies dealt with the customers so calmly, while doing the best they could to be of the best service. Please treat the staff kindly! They're doing everything they can to work with you. I usually dont have to much to complain about with Dennys, I do like the majority of their food and the service is usually good. Sadly though this post isn't going to be a good one. I recently went there to eat with my fiance as him and his sister wanted to take their mom out to a birthday dinner and the food was cold, the garlic butter for my overcooked steak was still frozen, my fiance's mom didnt get her soup with her meal. We all did feel bad for the server cause he was trying really hard to take care of everyone including us so that's not his fault. read more

Worst service and food ever. Waited over an hour at 11:15am today for our food, group of 7. Some of our meals were as basic as a cold turkey sandwich with nothing on it but turkey, cheese and lettuce (this was brought out last). Other groups came in around or after us and left before we even got our food. Waitress took forever to bring our drinks, forgot several times to bring water that was requested and when we addressed it, she clearly didn't care that we were patient but frustrated. The 3 burgers that were delivered first were cold by the time the 4 other meals were delivered, all at separate times. We didn't cause a scene, we were polite but this is totally unacceptable. Food was cold, eggs were barely cooked scrambled eggs and she confirmed her lack of maturity, respect and work ethic by failing to send over a manager when she said she would. We will never go back to this Denny's and the waitress, not sure of her name, should definitely receive a write up for her horrible customer service. Here's a tip (the only tip she received from us), if you can't do your job and do it well, you should NOT be a food server/waitress. Maybe you should join the janitorial team, this restaurant could sure use some help, it was extremely dirty! I had given up on Denny's years and years ago after eating at one of their joints in West Los Angeles. My experience was awful, so I just cast them aside. Arriving at Barstow, I have to give this particular Denny's three stars because it exceeded my expectations by far. I still am not a great fan of their using margarine to cook their eggs, hash browns, etc. (or even their grilled cheese toast sandwich). But, I've learned that you can order breakfast with butter on the side, and this makes a considerable difference whether you just want to place butter on your toast or your pancakes. They have a fairly extensive menu. I enjoy their mango drink. Their orange juice is fine, not great but fine. Oddly, their sirloin steak is pretty good -- got great but better than I've had at more expensive restaurants in Barstow. Unfortunately, you can't get this with a baked potato, but their cheesy mashed potatoes are not a bad side, and I like their broccoli -- not undercooked over overcooked. This, combined with their cheesy (or garlic or both) slices of bread make the cost pretty reasonable and definitely filling. I would never have expected Denny's to present a steak that was even halfway edible, but they have. They have a giant selection of burgers -- none of which I've tried to date, but probably will sometime in the future. Other notables are their hot chocolate and a frappacino, both of which are very palatable. Their breakfast is steady. The ham and cheese omelet is very tasty, as is are their regular eggs plus hash browns plus bacon or sausage (if you can excuse the margarin). My wife has tried their pot roast and found it to be satisfying. For a mere diner with a dubious reputation, I have found this particularly Denny's to be very fine. They tend to be a tad overpriced but not so much so as to be entirely totally off putting. You can find the place to be nearly vacant or really hopping. On whole, the waitresses are very good, and you can see them sweating to meet everyone's demands. If I were stopping over from Vegas to L.A., this is the place to come to (and many people do). read more

I love Denny's! But today was the worst experience I'v had. First we waited for almost an hour just to get part of our Order and then the oder was not accurate. There was lot of mistakes. Just to name one: I ordered the cheddar mashed potatoes and i first got regular potatoes i pointed it out to the waitress she took my plane only to bring me mashed potatoes with cold cheese on top. I was disappointed that after getting the order wrong the first time they would bring a plate out like that. Its as if they didn't care! I enjoy my mashed potatoes when they have cheese completely melted. I can definitely say I will NEVER eat at this location again! read more

I am very sorry but this place has horrible service. We were sitter by a boy (less than 10) and it was very cute at first, but when we decided to take our food to go he charged for the order and never came back. We waited around 25 mins and I had to tell other waitress to please complete order. Our food got cold and while we were there other three people complained about their service. :( read more

Stopping by off Exit 184 in Barstow,California on my drive along I-15 South to Los Angeles last Wednesday night, I didn't want to have McDonald's for a night's meal, so I went driving up the "hill" and pulled in to the parking lot of Denny's for a quick dine-in,to rest, and for a restroom stop. I altogether stayed longer than I expected. Walking in by the glass double doors of the restaurant, I was greeted by a smiling middle-aged host-waitstaff server who happily led me and my Mom to a table along the windowed Denny's Restaurant. The diner-like setting have seating that is ample enough with tables arranged along the glass windows overlooking Main Street. A flat-screened TV was on on the far end wall of the restaurant where small table and chairs were set up before it. A tri-fold pamphlet I saw on the table have Nutritional Dietary Information good for checking out food nutrition facts. It was late night and I was hungry enough for anything. I chose to dine on "The Ultimate Skillet" which was cooked by the chef-of-the-night; easily viewable from the table across through the bar and the kitchen window. In a short time, my order was served arriving on my table on a large, sizzling platter. Just cooked the way I like it, I ate, loved it, and it was tasty. With such a reasonable price, I had a good meal which led me to try their chocolate fudge cake which was delicious. I took my time savoring the good food! and stayed much longer thereafter over hot beverage both me and my Mom sipped slowly through the night, actually through Thursday early morning hour. The same smiling hostess-waitstaff lady came by to converse with us. I was even able to really have a relaxing "rest". A few more travelers came by to dine in. Hours later, thereafter, I went to the restroom which I found clean. With friendly staff, quick service and good dining atmosphere, and price ranging from $4 on up, this is a great place to dine in while travelling on the open road, as it is open 24 hours in this community situated along the I-15 highway to Los Angeles and in opposite direction to Las Vegas. read more

My boyfriend and my kids n I have been here several time within the past year and I have to say that each time got progressively worse, last night was the final straw. EVERY waitress that works there is lazy. They don't care about the customers. Either they ignore you or are rude. There was 3 waitresses there last night, a white girl with blonde hair, a Mexican with black hair, and a black chick with a high pitched voice. The restaurant was dead, so dead 2 of the waitresses could've been sent home. They people cooking the food can care less also. The food is never presentable, burnt, or has been sitting under a heat lamp for way too long. Last night we left feeling nauseous and grossed out. Not a huge fan of Denny's but this was the best option on a late evening during a trip. My dad loves the senior menu prices and got a plate off that. I took a "lighter fair" meal of some sandwich with avocado, which is about 550 calories. That's light? Yikes! Ice tea wasn't too delicious but they kept filling it up. Neighborhood seemed sketchy as there were some strange people popping in looking for handouts and in the area. This has the feel of an old time diner. My wife and I went tonight, Memorial Day and the place ws really busy but that did not interfere with the quality of the service or the food. Everything was outstanding, as it usually is, since we eat there at least once a week. Our servers Rebecca and Gabriel are outstanding. Denny's is usually not like this so I'm a little disappointed. My mom and I had breakfast here today. However when our food came both of our meals were cold. When the waitress came up to us and asked if everything was okay my mom had told her it was cold so she said she'd give us a discount. The lady that brought us the check (who seemed like the manager) apologized and told us that she voided my moms meal. Which the price for my food, orange juice, and moms coffee wasn't very reasonable and was kind of pricey. So when we went up to the counter to pay she asked how the food was, my mom said both of ours were cold. The lady ended up giving us the meal for free. This was the second time we went to this new Denny's. Each time it took over an hour to get our food! It's Ridiculous...I feel bad for the poor waitress, by the time our food came to the table (it was only a sandwich) we were so mad we didn't even want to leave her a tip (but we did).
