We stopped here on our way back to LA we ordered 3 sandwiches Philly melt ( barely ok) cheese melt ( it was decent enough for my 2 year old to enjoy) and dbl cheeseburger which the waitress kept wanting to have me order more things on it and kept suggesting so I added mushroom what a disappointment it was the meat was overcooked and dry to the point of falling apart. I just ate feud and called it a Day. The person who was serving us was super slow to even refill cokes we had to flag other waiters to come for refills. "I love Atwater Denny's!" -No one EVER The food tastes like shit, but the employees sure seem to enjoy it. You can literally see them eating in the back. If they aren't talking to you each other in the back you can find them in their natural habitat "polishing" silverware in a booth. They take FOREVER to bring you your food. DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT ORDERING A MILKSHAKE FROM THIS PLACE! They tend to "forget" or wait to deliver it to you when you're ready for the check. Normally I love Denny's but this one is one I refuse to go back to. I've been to this Denny's a few times and the service was okay at best, my skillet which is supposed to be piping hot was warm at best. My mom had gotten hair in her eggs twice since we've been here the waitress pretty much abandoned my table as soon as we got our food, and it took about 30 minutes for the food to even arrive all in all a bad experience we will be going to the one in Merced from now on. read more

Came here with my daughters yesterday for a early dinner late lunch. It took awhile for us to get seated. They didn't seem busy just under staff. It took awhile for us just to get our drinks order in, and then some more to order our food. Food was great, our waitress was nice. She filled our drinks when needed. My girls wanted to order desserts however when we were close to finishing our meals our waitress gave us our check already, so we decided not to get desserts there. She also never asked if I needed a box to go since I still had half of my food left on my plate. I had to stop her while she was passing by. I went there today on September 28th 2014 between 10 a.m. -11:15am. I was there with my two sister and little brother. I order the value slam with scrambled eggs, 2 sausage and no butter on my pancakes. My sisters had the loaded sandwich breakfast, side of season fries and potato skillet, why my little brother had the sizzling chicken fajita. when we arrived there Betsy greeted us and seated us within 30 to 40 seconds. We had a corner booth on the left side of the room. We wait it probably 10 minutes to actually get some service from the waitress and she took forever. I noticed that she went to greet a large group of Mexican and a smaller group of Mexicans before she came to our table to ask if we were ready to order. She took forever to get a drink.when the food came out I noticed that my pancakes had butter in it but I noticed my waitress told the manager who was wearing purple that I didn't want no butter in it and she took the food back. She also made an ugly face the manager. My brothers fajita came back and it was not sizzling whatsoever it was warm. So that means that the food was ready I was just sitting there. The fries were almost warm my sister had the loaded potato her food was mediocre and they did not had any jalapenos as requested. when my when my pancakes came back I check it to see if it was a different pancake and it was not it was the same pancakes. The pancake the head the butter on top was basically just wiped off and the bottom package was put on top to make it look like it was new, i can tell because there was a big fat hole in the bottom of the pancakes they assume that I was going to eat the whole thing but I always check my food before I eat it. I don't want to ask for another one because I didn't want to wait for another 15 20 minutes for food cuz I was ready waiting for food already.This Denny's had a lot of Mexicans, only two African Americans in there and we were the only Asians in there. the service was lousy, the hostess was nice, loud kids in the background yelling, our waitress sucks this message has been farm approve. Christmas Day - 12/25/2014 - It was already a rough day. Earlier in the morning we'd found out my kids' uncle passed away on their dad's side. He was my friend as well for the last 19 years so we all felt a sad loss. That was early AM, a damper on our day. Instead of cooking, my BF offered to treat us to a nice meal. Bonus was: we had a coupon that didn't state "not valid on holidays". :-) Arrived & saw only 2 other tables occupied. Nobody immediately greeted us but it turned out we arrived exactly at the time the ONLY server was leaving & the ONLY replacement was coming on shift. His name was Gabe & he was very apologetic. Told us that it was in between shifts and offered us to pick any table to sit at. Gabe took our order, was very friendly and smiled a lot. I appreciated that he answered all of our questions. Our food was delicious ( 2 of the super bird, cheeseburger, holiday turkey platter, senior slam ) and hot. We had a nice spot that allowed us to laugh and have a good time regardless of what had happened earlier. The only thing I felt was off was : Nobody came to the table to take away my boyfriend's soup bowl after he was finished. Our dinner hadn't arrived yet but it was in the way. My ex put the bowl on the adjacent table which the manager noticed. I'd saw her eyeball him as he got up to put it there. When we left (over an hour later), the bowl was still there!!! The manager didn't bother to get it herself either. Hmmm... No one asked us to hurry up or made us feel as if we HAD to leave. We took our time and didn't feel rushed. At any Denny's I've ever been to, it's usually rushed. Overall it was a great ending to the day. The 20% coupon made it even better. Would I be back? Probably. The experience itself wasn't an A+ but I don't expect that with Denny's. It's good/decent food, on a holiday and to boot: there wasn't any spit on top! So are we satisfied with service? Yeah, we are. This restaurant in Atwater for some reason just failed my expectations of a Denny's standards. There's not alot of people when we came in but the service was really slow. From the time the waitress took our order to the time when we actually received it took exactly 1 hour. We observed customers ahead of us that just stood up and walked out of the restaurant. The owner of this location should take count on how much customers had walked out because of slow service. The waitress was coughing really bad and should have taken night off. She didn't brought our orders out until we got up and told the cashier that we'll just pay for our drinks because it has taken too long. The cashier went back to the kitchen area and told the waitress who came out upset. The food was dry and salty. My kids could not eat chicken sandwich because of that. Soooo bad! We ate here this morning and the service was so bad. We arrived and the hostess seated us. We had our 3 year old with us, the hostess never asked us if we wanted a booster seat or high chair, also did not give us a kids menu. When we ordered our drinks my wife asked for more sugar for her coffee, which we never got. Still no kids menu, had to ask the waitress for a booster seat. We ordered our food which took forever to get to us. We saw several people who came in after us that had more people in their group get their food before us. Once our food came it was cold and they got my wife's order wrong. After we ate we sat for a good 10 minutes without our check being brought to us. Ended up having to go up to the front and asking for it because we'd had enough. I would not recommend this place to anyone, it was bad even by Denny's standards. read more

This is a great place to satiate late night hunger pangs or to soak up a night of heavy drinking, but as a first choice for a regular diner; id look elsewhere for something to satisfy. The food is not necessarily bad at this location, they offer a very diverse menu, but when it comes to preparation, they are mediocre at best. I don't expect their kitchen staff to be professionals at their job, but they drastically fail when it comes to the basics. It shouldn't be difficult for even the most inexperienced cook to know the difference between overeasy and sunnyside up eggs or to fully comprehend what "light" means in terms of buttering or toasting. Also, if you dine here then don't expect too much from their waiters, many of them are top notch in terms of hospitality, but quite a few of them would be better suited for another job, as they are rude and unattentive at best. read more

We waited about 45 minutes for our food (it was just 2 of us). When my food did come my country fried steak was so tiny! I've been ordering this plate for years and I've never seen one that small. But the worst part of the whole experience was when I tried to send it back! I told her the steak was too small and if she couldn't give me a bigger one that it was okay and I would just take a refund instead. The waitress looked very nervous and said she would have to get the manager. When she takes the food back I could hear the manager already getting defensive before she ever came to even talk to us. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I came in to eat & do a little work after a 5 hour drive. The Wifi didn't work. When I asked the waitress for help, the manager told her the Wifi was really weak and there's nothing she could do about it. Fine. This is a Dennys not AT&T. Disgusting!! My boyfriend and I have been here twice before each time was nasty but he convinced me to give it another shot only because it was the only place in Atwater open so we went and of corse my food comes back super cold nooo flavor and on top of that when I moved my egg there was a long black hair in it! My hair is blonde and my boyfriend has a fade so no way it was ours! Also horrible customer service!! They took my food off the bill but never offered another meal! Absolutely the worst Denny's I have ever experienced. We only chose to eat there because we were on a road trip and got off the freeway and presto, there it was. The food, for our group of 4, was universally terrible. The premises were filthy, the waitstaff was amateurish, and there was nothing that was right about this place.
