Neptune used to be a firm favourite of mine when I first moved to Dennistoun years ago. Situated just off Duke Street, across from Coia's Cafe and Tibo, Neptune is a handy chippy in an area that doesn't (oddly) have many fish & chip shops.
On perusal of the menu, like myself when I 1st ordered from here, you might be mistaken for thinking they're not a 'proper' chip shop that does 'proper' chippy chips. What threw me was the fact they also offer many other types of food including pizzas, burgers, baked potatoes, kebabs, pakora, omelettes (I find that a bit of an odd one!...), Munchy boxes, pasta dishes & Southern fried chicken. But fear not they do a fairly decent chip shop supper. I'm not a big fan of the fish here (it's a bit on the skinny side as far as fish goes) but everything else in the chip shop range is really good. Most importantly the chips are really nice. Oh yes. Love me some chubby chippy chips.
Besides the suppers we usually order the pizza Meal Deal 2 which is a 12" pizza with any 4 toppings, 1 garlic bread, 1 bag of chips, a bag of potato wedges & 2 cans for the bargainous £11.49. It's a beast of a meal deal and the pizza and sides never disappoint. With regards to the style of pizza I would say it is very similar to a Dominos deep pan style but better in my humble opinion AND much much cheaper! They're not stingy with the toppings either.
You can either pop in the shop or they do deliveries/collections too and are also on Just Eat should you want to order online. read more
