I LOOOVE living at Denizen! I moved here from the Sunshine State last summer and chose Denizen based on reviews. Mind you, this is coming from someone who probably wouldn't entertain the idea of a blind date let alone do something crazy like move halfway across the country to an apartment I've never seen before. So, read on, folks. After calling this place home for almost a year, I'm happy to report that I couldn't have chosen a better community and location. Denizen is nestled mere steps from the light rail, a few more steps from grocery stores, and a bit more--err, but not too many--steps from a plethora of South Broadway shops, bars, and restaurants. Beyond that, the units are some of the nicest and cleanest I've ever seen. And, as an added bonus, the new Community Manager (Sarah Park) really takes this place to another level with her kindness and professionalism. So, if you like a walkable neighborhood, free coffee, ample dogs to pet, fun neighbors, and the most friendly and attentive front desk staff you'll ever meet, then cancel your other apartment tours. Editing my review 10/2019 - from five to three stars. The first two years I lived here, the staff and maintenance and everything was great. But the last several months I've been pretty displeased. My storage unit was broken into and I wasn't informed even though police were involved, many of my maintenance requests have taken 2-3 submittals to be resolved, and most recently my ceiling has been leaking for over two weeks now and is still not fixed. Besides all that, this is a great location and the building is still pretty new. Many of the residents are like-minded and young professionals like myself. I would still recommend people to consider denizen as an option for living, but be mindful that some reviews may be outdated; there has been a decline in management the last year or so. read more

I recently moved here from Florida, and I swear I've never been more in love with an apartment complex. Looking for apartments - especially out of state - is stressful, but my leasing agent Sarah made it extremely easy. She was super responsive to all my emails and even made the move-in process more comfortable than I'd imagined it was going to be. The staff in general is extremely friendly and welcoming, and I'm impressed they recognize my face every time I pick up a package from the leasing office. The biggest thing that sold me about Denizen was its proximity to the light rail station. I literally leave my apartment, walk downstairs, and hop on the train. You'd think it would be loud with the train so close by, but living here feels pretty quiet! I don't hear the train coming by every minute nor do I hear footsteps upstairs. I don't know how that worked out, but I'm definitely grateful to have found this place. Other big advantages of living here: the community feels incredibly safe and secure, it's walking distance to Safeway, and it just feels like home, really. read more

As a Denverite with a dog and a job downtown, Denizen is a paradise. A normal day for me goes something like waking up and grabbing a complimentary "Jamaican me crazy" cup of coffee on my way to take my pup to the on-site dog park. Once he's taken care of I'll hop on the light rail (trains to downtown come just about every 5 minutes or less) that drops me off 2 blocks from my building. Back on the light rail to get home and I walk up the entrance to the South Patio past the community fire pit and grills on my way to rescue my pup. He and I will head down to see all of his friends who's parents are also getting off work and get him tired enough to go right back to sleep, freeing up my night for a walk on South Broadway for a night out or a chill night on the patio with friends. If you're looking for convenience, comfort, and community you'll find all of that and more at Denizen. This is now my 5th apartment in Denver and I can sincerely say that Denizen has been the best. Also, shameless plug for the maintenance crew that has responded to all requests super fast, even for little things like blinds! read more

I've been living here about 6 months now and it is great. The apartments have everything you need and want, the finishes are nice, and the apartment was in pristine condition when I moved in. The front desk staff remembers your name and your dogs name and are always happy to see you, and they make sure everyone is updated on stuff happening in the complex. The people that live here are nice too, always smiling and wishing you a good day on the elevator. I also feel very safe here, the folks who patrol at night do a great job and will jump into action if needed, the place is well lit and there are cameras all over the place. The location is also clutch, you can walk to a grocery store, liquor store, and Atomic Cowboy for the best pizza in Denver. Transportation is a breeze with the light rail right there, and I've never waited more than 5 minutes for an Uber or Lyft . Bonus, if you have a fun playful happy dog (I don't) they can play in the little dog park with the other cool dogs. It is so much fun watching them all goof around in there. read more

My wife and I have lived here for several years now, and we feel so glad to have found this place. We've lived in many different states, in all sorts of different types of rental situations, but this is by far the best we've encountered. It all comes down to the staff here. The current manager of the property is not only the most efficient, professional, and competent, but also incredibly warm and friendly. This really, is the case with everyone who works here, including front desk staff, maintenance, and cleaning staff. Maintenance is taken care of so incredibly quickly, and really any concern I have is attended with a sense of urgency. The staff here will treat you like a human being, and on top of that, they all take their jobs seriously. Things to know: Denver has a massive homeless and drug problem, and you absolutely need to be aware of your surroundings if you move to this neighborhood. Use situational awareness for your safety; don't just stroll with your eyes on your phone; watch people on the sidewalk and be smart if anything feels wrong. The apartments are right on the light rail, at Alameda Station, which also has several bus stops, so there's a lot of foot traffic, so just keep an eye on your surroundings. There is private security at night, which is really great; the firm that does this work is very responsive. The apartments themselves are very nice and comfortable, unbelievably efficient in terms of heating and cooling, and, at least from side to side, very soundproof. From top to bottom soundproofing is not as strong, but again, current staff is wonderful about making sure people act neighborly. It feels very inviting to live here, and, as long as you are acclimated to city living, I'd recommend it in a second! read more

Moving here from out of state, and signing prior to actually visiting in person was daunting, but Skye and the rest of the leasing team helped make it simple. They've been super accommodating , prompt, and friendly, even when helping out with major last-minute adjustments. It feels like they want the residents to love where they live, which makes a huge difference. The building feels very new. So far, I've found the common areas to be clean and pretty well-appointed. Parking is convenient and a much lower price point than downtown. My unit is spacious and airy. The location is excellent: on the light rail, and groceries, hardware, office supplies, restaurants, some bars, etc. are all blocks away. Close to the city, but far out enough to be clean and quiet (minus the train, but the louder freight train is pretty infrequent/bearable, and I can't hear the light rail at all from my unit). Many units have pretty stunning mountain views so that may be something worth requesting ahead of time (the mountains are in the same direction as the train, so if you have a much lower noise tolerance, the views may not be worth it...the 2 terraces also have solid views). It's still early in my lease, but so far I'm happy (and relieved) to have chosen Denizen. read more

I lived in Denizen from 01/2017 - 12/2017, and had a great overall experience - the neighborhood, the staff, and the amenities are all top-notch. This is the first place I've lived since moving to Denver - I picked it for its proximity to S Broadway, which is its biggest selling point, in my opinion. Several great cafes, bars, and restaurants are easily walkable from here (Bardo is my favorite, but the in-house White Whale is also superb). The front office staff has rotated a few times since I moved in, but all of them have been helpful and kind. Sam and Elise always answered my questions promptly and professionally, and J.J. fixed a concern I had in the parking garage with a way better solution than anything I would have thought of in less than 24 hours. The maintenance staff (I stupidly didn't learn names here) were prompt and friendly - they fixed my stubborn A/C twice (extremely quickly) and even blocked off an elevator for my personal use while I was moving out. Definitely above and beyond anything I expected. I don't go to the gym as often as I should, but the Denizen gym has all the machines, mats, and weights a person could want. 24/7 access is a big plus - you never know when you're going to be motivated. The only downside to this location is that it's proximity to the Alameda light rail station brings its share of occasionally loud drunk folks and unstable homeless population. I tended to enjoy listening to the guy who argues with the lamp post outside my window and the skateboarder that rides off the roof of the pipe-bending factory across the street (natural selection at work, there), but I understand it's not for everyone, and I did have to call the police a few times due to some abusive-sounding domestic situations around the station. In Denizen's defense here, the sound-proofing is great (barely heard a peep with my windows closed). I'm not a huge fan of the rent-a-cops they currently employ (Front Range Patrol), but they do seem to be effective at keeping the building safe, if a bit overenthusiastic about playing cop dress-up. Bottom-line: if you're going to live in Baker, live here. You'll have an excellent experience. read more

There are too many great points to Denizen Apartments. The office staff has their game together! They are on the ball, on point, and some of the kindest staff I've worked with, and I've lived in many apartment complexes. The fact that Denizen is a dog friendly place makes it even more worthwhile to my family, as I have two pups who enjoy Denizen as well. The maintenance of Denizen is taken care of by a few good men who get the jobs done quickly. Denizen is well kept BECAUSE of all the professional people who work here. Being a location that is close to the light rail, gyms, shops, and restaurants, you'd be sorry if you didn't get to live here. read more

We will sadly be moving out and leaving what has been our home for over 4 years. Living here has been a blessing. We had our "wedding rehearsal dinner" here in the community lounge amongst many other memories. The staff has always gone above and beyond to help out even in a crisis. This summer our AC unit went out during the heatwave and Sarah (manager) stayed after hours to make sure we got a portable unit until the repairs could be made. Walker is always on top of answering questions and addressing needs. Maintenance has always been quick and responsive. Love having the outdoor fire pit area during this pandemic which allows for social distanced hangouts with friends. Location is awesome! Highly recommend living here! read more

Living here has been the absolute best apartment experience I have ever had. From the day I moved in, I knew this place was special, and I am more convinced every day since. The staff is incredibly competent, and always willing to address any concerns, without delay. Some staff have moved on, but to promotions within their company, which speaks volumes about the management group. Elise, Colleen, and Walker are the people I've dealt with the most, and I've never been disappointed with any interaction with them. I've been living at Denizen for a little over a year now and I can easily say that this is the best apartment community I've ever lived at! From the management team to the maintenance crew, everyone at Denizen is incredibly friendly and helpful. Everyone here goes above and beyond to make living at Denizen truly enjoyable. Going the extra mile, the team here also hosts regular community events that help all of the residents to have some fun and meet each other. Additionally, any issues are quickly identified and resolved. I previously lived at an apartment where raw sewage would pool in the garage during big rain storms and the issue would not be fixed for weeks on end. If something like that were to happen here, I have no doubt it would be resolved over night. The company that owns Denizen, and the people who work here, care deeply about the residents who live here. As for location, its hard to beat! Literally situated on the Alameda light rail station, it is incredibly convenient to catch a train to anywhere you need to go. There is also plenty of unique and vibrant places on nearby Broadway where you can go and shop, grab a brew or have a bite to eat. Needless to say, not planning on moving anytime soon! read more

My wife and I moved to Denizen in January 2017 and moved about 3 months later when I relocated for work. Leaving Denizen was probably the worst part about that relocation, as it's a great a place to live. JJ and Elise in the management office were always more than happy to address our questions and needs, and the maintenance team was always courteous and professional in our interactions. The good things: - Location directly on the light rail is a huge bonus, especially if you're commuting downtown. Also a short walk to Broadway and all the great restaurants there. A little more of a walk or short bike ride gets you to Wash Park. - The building itself is very nice - we never really heard our neighbors or outside noise, with the exception of the occasional train. - The community is very active on their Facebook page, through which you'll see many activities posted to join - Utilities are cheap - I don't know if Charles from Security is still at the building, but he is the man. It's always a pleasure to chat with him. The not-so-good thing: - Being directly next to the light rail can bring some less than ideal foot traffic, and with it, garbage. I always had to be vigilant that my dogs weren't picking up chicken bones off the ground when walking them All in all, I recommend living at Denizen. From the moment I walked in to take a look at the apartments at the Denizen, I could see myself living there. Elise, JJ and the entire team are wonderful to work with and understand everyone's wants, needs and concerns. So many apartment complexes in Denver are generic, the staff are creepy, and the apartments actually suck (I'm looking at you Cap Hill). It's super refreshing to walk into a place that truly feels like a community. The maintenance team is also wonderful- they are quick to help, very nice, and I have never once second guessed letting them have access to my apartment when I'm not home. Although I often haven't been able to attend (sadly), the community puts together fun events all the time to help you get to know your neighbors which makes it awesome for anyone moving from out of town. If you are a dog owner, that is an extra bonus. All of us dog owners know each other well and we often end up out in the park chatting and letting our dogs burn off their energy after we get home from work. Denizen is the first experience I had moving out of state for the first time. I had a hard hat walk through with Elise, who was always responsive to my never ending panic emails as I planned my first move. When I initially got to Denver the apartment had been delayed for the move in date but the staff was way more prepared than anything I could have anticipated. They had us set up in a nice hotel for the week, had storage units in place to hold our things (with movers to handle!), gift cards for the inconvenience AND little handmade baggies with toothbrushes and treats. I love abq... but I can't think of one apt complex that would have above and beyond in this manner. Obviously, that won't happen again since the building is complete ... but I had to mention it because it truly blew me away and won me over. I adore the atmosphere of our complex. We have an FB group where people can share anything from kickball leagues, last minute grilling on the patio and planning beer crawls. Elise and staff also plan great events (adult Easter egg hunt / Prom- the way it should have been) which I'm ALL about. It's a very welcoming environment and has been great as a newcomer to Denver to feel like I have a built in family. I love all of the staff, but Elise has always been my go-to from the start and I feel very lucky that I'm able to still bother her with random emails or just going down to say hello :). In regards to my studio, it is perfect for me! I walk right out onto the patio to have direct access to grills (as a steak girl, this is ideal) or the fire pit to have a friends come for a few brews. Initially, I was worried it would be loud in my location/space but it is PERFECT and the train is only faintly audible. I very rarely have maintenance issues but if anything pops up I can easily put a ticket in on the online website and it's dealt with the same day. When I have enough energy to wake up early or force myself away from a nice glass of wine after work, I can get some cardio/weights done by walking downstairs to our gym. Or if I want to do the opposite and I don't have a nice beverage on hand, I can meander downstairs to the White Whale Room where the owners (Rachel and Dakin) are always happy to help. Overall, I could go on forever on why I'm happy Denizen is my first home. I would recommend to anyone and always happy to provide more feedback! read more

I moved cross country and had never seen my apartment before the day I moved in. I picked Denizen because of the amazing reviews, perfect location (right on the light rail, which makes my commute downtown easy) and awesome amenities. The leasing team was (and continues to be) super helpful and helped me find the perfect apartment. I have only lived here for a month, but I can't imagine living anywhere else. This is an ideal community for young professionals, especially if you love and/or have dogs. The entire complex is very thoughtfully designed and the maintenance staff keep it in pristine condition. read more

Denizen is just the best place to live. After my better half received a job offer to move from sunny San Diego to (turns out) even sunnier Denver we had to act fast to find a new apartment in a city we didn't know. Honestly, the website sold me on the property and we moved in after processing the lease with Samantha through email. She was very quick to respond and helped us secure the amazing apartment we have. Location: The Alameda train station is literally steps from the building. It's a huge perk to only need to walk something like 40 feet from the south building exit to get on the train. The convenience of that for exploring a new city, going out, and getting to work is a huge time and money-saver. The shopping center nearby is lackluster at the moment. The K-Mart and Alberston's in particular are pretty awful, almost dystopian. I've heard rumors of a project where they will replace that whole shopping center soon, and the Denizen building feels like a precursor to those exciting changes. South Broadway is just a few minutes walk away and features awesome bars, shopping, and restaurants. It more than makes up for the drab shopping center. Building: The complex is Platinum Leed Certified, meaning its hyper efficient and has a low carbon footprint. If I'm not mistaken, it's the only residential building of that sort in the whole of Colorado. The small decisions and design pieces that afford that designation allow for some pretty cool perks for someone that lives there. An example is the insulation, I'm not sure what they've used but we've never once in 8 months of living here have heard our neighbors. We also get to enjoy two amenity decks with fire pits and grills at both, a green park area with a pretty artsy and not entirely ugly sculpture, business center with free wi-fi and printing, fully equipped gym, and a lobby with dog treats and free coffee. Apartment: We rented a top floor 1 bedroom apartment with city & mountain views. Again, this was completely sight-unseen and trusting Samantha, our leasing agent, worked out. We love it so much. So so much. The kitchen is all high efficiency stainless steel appliances, there's a full sized washer and dryer. The layout is very open and comfortable and easy to decorate to your own specifications. I think my favorite thing about the apartment is the flooring; it's some sort of tile or laminate that has a beautiful gray wood floor look but is so durable and well placed that spills (mostly wine) are easy easy easy to clean. Staff: Clearly I'm a fan of Samantha. The rest of the staff is great too: Elise is incredible and comes up with these community activities that really help you get to know your neighbors, have fun, and sometimes even win serious prizes. She also has the cutest freaking dog in the universe. Shout-out to Birdie. JJ is great too, always present and helpful. I've never had anything resembling a negative experience with any of the staff. The bottom line is I love living here, my dog loves living here, and we are planning to stay for a few years. If you're looking for comfortable, convenient, clean, and a community feel this is the place for you. PS. that bad review by Eddie M. is insane and should be removed. Reviewing a place you've never lived is really unfair and bothers me, also acting like you were denied because you're a gay married couple is a pretty serious accusation, and in your case absurd. Myself and my boyfriend have been treated incredibly well and it has been a complete non-issue. I'm also happy it didn't work out for you to be a tenant, cause you sound pretty terrible. Cardinal Management has a great team working at the Denver Denizen Apartments. I've lived here since they opened, so I've developed a great relationship with the group. Elise & JJ have illustrated amazing customer service and patience throughout the move-in process, and community development of the apartment building. I love the vibe of Denizen. It was the perfect choice upon relocation, as the staff is completely welcoming & make it a priority to create bonding among the residents. The apartments themselves are in great condition. Our apartment has great finishes & design, & it felt clean from the beginning. We have amazing amenities & our bills are low because of the LEED building! This location is extremely walk-able and accessible to public transportation. In fact, after a few months of living here, my boyfriend sold his car because we have such a great spot near the lightrail. I love that we are situated close to downtown & it's an easy commute to DTC. This apartment complex offers everything we need, plus the staff has made it feel like home. read more

I moved to Denver in December, 2018 and lived in a one bedroom Denizen apartment. When it came to getting a larger unit 18 months later, I didn't even look elsewhere. I have had an amazing experience with the staff. They are incredibly responsive and so easy to talk to. I couldn't ask for a better experience in apartment living in the city. The facts that the RTD is steps away, the grocery store is one block away and all the stores/restaurants on Broadway are just 2 blocks away make Denizen a perfect location for me. read more

Great place to live! Apartments are nicely appointed and well maintained. Common spaces, especially the gym and office, are super nice. Gym is fairly large and has everything. I LOVE that the light rail is right there for convenience to getting downtown or the airport. But my favorite part has been the staff--they are extremely nice and helpful. They've promptly taken care of any issues (rare), even the small ones. Would highly recommend!!! read more

This is a wonderful place to live! My boyfriend and I moved in here around thanksgiving last year. Everyone on the team is wonderful!! We only got to live there for about 4 months before we had to relocate for work but it was wonderful. The apartments are beautiful- the parking garage is clean and safe. The safety team is always on top of things and the management team treated us like family and even emailed us after to check on us and see how we are liking our new place. You could not pick a better place to live so close to the Lightrail. The sense of community was incredible and we truly miss it. If we ever move back to Denver we definitely want to move back to Denizen! read more

This location cannot be beat with bars and restaurants walkable. The light rail is in your backyard and you can easily take it to union station for a night out! Denizen is the very best. The management team is exceptional and there is a real community feel living here. I love living here - while I live by myself, I really feel like I have neighbors and it is so easy to get help with anything because management is always so responsive. Maintenance is on site and if anything needs fixing, I don't think I've waited more than a few hours! Facilities are always so clean and well kept and the people are all wonderful. The move out process was very unorganized and you will not get your security deposit back. You'll also be charged a cleaning fee even though management admitted our apartment was just normal wear and tear. Happy hour events do not happen monthly and the office turnover is very high. This is hands down the nicest place I've ever lived. The maintenance specialists, property managers at the front desk, and security detail have all taken the effort and time to get to know us (and our dog) and have made our transition so smooth and comfortable. They've been more than accommodating to every request (and have even provided support and assistance before we even thought to ask), and have gone above and beyond to make our whole family feel at home. Surprised to see there's only one view of this place so far so I needed to put my $.02c in. My roommates and I applied to Denizen in October 2015 as the North building was just opening (the South building had been open since July 2015 I think). There were zero reviews online and our apartment wasn't even done being built yet, so it was a blind faith move after only seeing the demo apartment. That move turned to really pay off, this is the best apartment I've ever lived in. Sam and Elise made the application process incredibly easy and were very up-front about all the fees and costs of living in the complex. When we moved in the place was built immaculately, which I was very relieved about because I've seen other complexes like Denizen with some really poorly executed construction and apartment designs. I will say the only downside is that the light rail is really loud if you're on the west side of the building. It's pretty easy to ignore with the windows closed but if you're looking to have the windows open and watch TV you're going to have a bad time. Management is fantastic - extremely responsive, helpful, and friendly. The little extra things they throw in like concert ticket giveaways, social events, outings and the like make living here extra cool. I haven't participated in a lot of the events but I think it's great that they have them as an option, and drinking leftover keg beer is always a plus! I would definitely recommend this building to anyone looking for a luxury apartment in a fun neighborhood with good public transit access. read more

We just moved into Denizen in August and so far it has been 100% amazing. The people who work for Denizen are the nicest and most helpful people I have ever had the pleasure of working with. The apartments are absolutely stunning and so functional. I cannot say enough about Denizen. I hope I never have to leave. read more
