I lived at Tennyson Place for over two years, starting in January 2019 when I moved to Denver for a new job. I spent over $60,000 of my income to live here. When paying that much in rent, utilities, and parking, I expect top-of-the-line customer service. That was the case until the owner of Tennyson Place switched to BLDG management. Although they claim to care about their tenants (their motto is "BLDG CARES"), that couldn't be further from the truth. They are the least understanding group of people, especially when a tenant is going through an emotionally traumatic event.
Poor communication is just the beginning:
There are no direct phone numbers to any of the apartment managers, so when you call Tennyson Place in need of immediate assistance, you get automated messages and answering machines. The fastest way to get in touch with management is through email. Their response time ranges from a few hours to a few days.
The building itself is not structurally sound:
One of the selling points to me when I decided to move in was the massive patio included with my unit. I invested over $1,500 furnishing it, as being outdoors is one of the best parts of life (in my opinion). I began receiving noise complaints from the neighbor who lived in the unit below my patio. I would have a few friends over (3-4 people) for dinner outside, and simply moving the dining chairs was loud enough to disrupt her. The tipping point was when I received a noise complaint about my two cats (both less than 15 lbs) running around on my patio. The neighbor initially thought I had dogs because the noise was so loud. How is it possible that two small cats running around can create enough noise to file a complaint? That shouldn't be my problem, nor the neighbor's... that's the building's fault.
The safety of their tenants is last on their list of priorities:
I pay $100 per month for my parking spot in the garage beneath the building. I made the decision to pay for a reserved spot since the street parking surrounding Tennyson Place can be a nightmare (example: my friends who used to live in the building had their cars side-swiped by a drunk driver). I also wanted a parking spot for security reasons. Not only is the garage gate broken frequently, anyone can climb over the gate if they wanted access to the garage.
That being said, anyone can get into the building through the garage stairwell. This is a HUGE SECURITY CONCERN, as the only thing stopping an intruder from coming into my apartment is one deadbolt lock. When I complained to management about the garage gate being broken, citing my own personal safety, they stated, "We do not at anytime guarantee your safety or security at Tennyson Place ... We do not guarantee a secured or safe parking space."
A massive disappointment:
I'm happy to say I moved out and no longer live at Tennyson Place. It's upsetting that, of all things, management completely ruined my experience. The elevators are rarely functioning. I have walked into the common area multiple times and found dog feces on the floor. I'm genuinely concerned about the safety and well-being of myself and my neighbors.
Maintenance staff and cleaning crew are the best:
The one redeeming quality of Tennyson Place... the maintenance staff and cleaning crew. They are the nicest, most hard-working people who *actually* care about the tenants living in the building. read more
