I bought a ticket using one of the kiosks. Unfortunately, the movie didn't start until 3:30 pm. I had a couple of hours to pass and I didn't want to walk anywhere, so I found an open seat in front of the Ten Fourteen Bubble Tea shop and used the available free WiFi to pass the time. When it finally came time to go inside the theater, the employee told me that it was downstairs. He didn't point me in the right direction, so I thought maybe it was the stairs that I saw on the way in. That wasn't it as it led down to the pool hall and arcade. I went back up and pushed on a set of glass doors that led to another area which had the stairs leading down to the theater. The seat that I had picked was okay, but the theater seating was very outdated for movie theaters these days. I guess you get spoiled when you're used to those big comfortable recliner seats! At least the important thing was that the picture and sound was good.

I had a poor experience at Events Cinema George Street, Sydney, on Sunday 4 December 2022. Tickets…read morefor Gold Class were $44.00 each and two were purchased, totalling $88.00. There are three key problems: (1) There was an additional booking fee of around $6.00 for the two tickets (we used gift vouchers). Given the high ticket price, this is unreasonable. (2) Popcorn and drink were not included in the ticket price. Again, given the high ticket price and low cost for Event Cinema to provide popcorn and drink, this substantially lowers the value of purchasing a ticket. Also, Hoyts Cinemas offers popcorn and drink with its equivalent Lux tickets. We will probably go to Hoyts next time. (3) It was really difficult to order food via the website using the QR code. Given staff are available, they should help with the order rather than directing people to use the website/app. We didn't end up ordering any food. This is not a good idea. A very disappointing experience! This complaint was forwarded to Event Cinema's head office. No voucher or compensation was offered (despite asking), which, again, is very disappointing. This company needs to lift its game.

The main drawback is that they are often on very early Sunday morning but the pluses outweigh that drawback. There are also free bickkies, tea, coffee, popcorn, soft drinks and water. Then there is the validation of your parking ticket and whatever entertainment is on offer around Darling Harbour. We saw Island of Lemurs in 3D. The lemurs were cute and crazy but the background music was lame. It was free so can't complain.

Hmmm... ingredients for crinked neck and sore brain. Lucky I booked my ticket in advance. So, yes! Star Wars was showing and I thought it was worth seeing again on the super mega big screen on my trip to Sydney. Tickets are pretty costly and so is the food. But most cinemas are costly and yeah it is big. But, I just don't know how I feel about spending $70 for two people to go to the cinema. But, it's Star Wars... I did notice a couple of things about this cinema. Not sure who they have hired to do the cleaning? They should probably do some performance management on them; there seemed to be mountains of cups and popcorn behind the chairs. Also, floor seemed to like my shoes a lot and were pulling them from my feet. When watching this gigantic screen I notice that there was a thin line on the left hand side of the screen? I thought this was digital? Also, depending on your angle, it seems to have a little darker haze. You kind of need to be in the middle and high. Well, best thing about was the exercise climbing those stairs. I worked off the costly popcorn I consumed for sure! Look, Imax is what you would expect. It's a big screen that you watch things on when you decide there is a movie worthy enough.

Even though we had just travelled about 24 hours, we decided a movie would be a nice way to kill said time. I thought it would be a nice nap time but the movie was interesting and none of us slept. This theater is odd but interesting. You buy tickets at the concession stand. I wish I had tried the popcorn but I assumed I might not be awake so eating was out. The theaters are spread around the floor in different pockets of the area, so it's more like walking to a different shop. Even though it was a matinee, we were told it was mostly sold out and that we'd have to sit in the second row. This worried me but the person selling the tickets said it's where they prefer to sit and, again, I assumed I'd sleep so we agreed. We sat in theater 11 and lone behold, it wasn't going to be a problem because the screen is far away and there's a good amount of space between the front row and the screen. The other unique thing about this room was there was a large window. I've never seen this in a movie theater before and it was cool. Don't worry, the drapes, once closed, were nice and thick and let no light in. The seats were comfy and did manually recline. I only like to recline if there's a leg rest though so I didn't do that.

Came here for a $5 movie deal. Every time you visit a soulless megaplex after your time at Hayden Orpheum it will be a singularly disappointing experience bereft of any aesthetics or cultural value because really, how can anything compare? The cinemas are stunning art deco, they sell old-school choc tops, there's a solid program of the latest blockbusters and art house / doco fare, and they have insanely fun cult classics like a monthly interactive showing of the word movie ever made, The Room. There are love seats in the main cinema, and a freaking organ that rises up out of the floor for matinee performances. I know right! What what all the way. Best.

The Orpheum has kept it's gorgeous original deco interiors and exteriors intact, and the last time I visited (John Cleese triple bill including the Life Of Brian on Easter Sunday- kudos Orpheum!), there was a vintage pianist playing the grand piano in the lobby. I would love to see a silent movie thing here and I would bet money that they do them, it's that kind of place. Check out retro cinema Sundays- awesome and affordable triple bills that people dress up for. Old school wholesome entertainment, I love it.

Attended their first birthday party last night and got to see some of the reasons this place rocks socks. Like the tiny, old-school cinema with all the original touches, like low-slung wooden chairs, green velvet walls, and the coup de grace, the unbelievable old film projectors that they found in the basement of the Paramount Building (when film reels had to be changed every 20mins during a movie). The main bar is low-lit and great date territory, the cocktails are inventive (maple pecan Old Fashioned, anyone?) and they do a small range of big-taste toasties. Oh and there's a secret mirrored performance stage hidden behind a remote-controlled curtain in the main bar.

The bar had a delicious-looking cocktail menu and a nice range of pre-cinema snacks to choose from. It's only a small venue but it's perfect for a couple of drinks and conversation before you head in to watch a film. The actual cinema is really cute. Older-style seating and a pretty small screen might put some people off... but I loved it. Overall Golden Age made me feel like Sydney is finally "growing up"... it's a venue less concerned with trying to look cool and more focused on being a quality, enjoyable option for anyone and everyone. I highly recommend it!

What is special about Paris Cinema is that Hoyts group has built an entire theatre for just fine art films from around the world. You can watch the best foreign films (No need to know the various languages as subtitles are of course included) from travelling international film festivals. I was invited to watch 13 Assassins a Japanese samurai film based on a true story. Having learnt a bit of Japanese I thought it would be easy to follow the movie. Thank God, for subtitles! If you are learning a foreign film, I highly recommend visiting Paris Cinema and watching a flick to learn more about the culture and art of that region. Cinema Paris is also host to Sydney's premier film festival. Parking is free for the first 2 hours everyday before 6 pm, but you can get your parking ticket validated at the movie counter for a general all day ticket as there's more to do and see at Entertainment Quarters (or EQ as its more popularly known.)
