This place is beyond ridiculous…read more We stayed in the hotel next door and got warned to arrive early. Arrived early to eat at the retro diner, got turned away. 30 mins later. After seeing people driving past we attempt again. Get let in and get parked in a waiting lot. Instead of checking tickets and parking cars in groups of what movie they are going to see, it's a giant free for all. Cars driving everywhere. No traffic control. No one gives way. Eventually get in and park. Off for dinner. DISGUSTING. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE. My husband and I are both extremely sick from eating the overpriced garbage they pass off as food. Before the movie started they announced ticket checks as people had snuck into the wrong movie, as it was sold out. Gate control and ticket checks earlier would fix this. All in all a huge waste of money. People left their cars on and chain smoked the entire time. Wish I could get a refund and my time back. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY PEOPLE

The fact that it is still called 'Greater Union' and not 'Event Cinemas' speaks of how much of a…read moredinosaur this place is. That being said, there is something magnificent about going back in time and experiencing things from another era. Throw that in with our amazing western Sydney community and you are in for a treat! The comfort level is up to you. As a kid I remember we used to drive here in our 1986 Mitsubishi Star Wagon, all the seats would fold down which meant we could fit in a single bed mattress. We'd bring our pillows & blankets, open the boot of the car and fit all 5 kids lying down single file across the back. I have seen people bring camping chairs, two seater sofas on the back of their utes, camping tents and cars with really really really dark tint which makes no sense cause how can they possibly watch the movie!? Anyways, you really do need to be comfortable because you will get two movies for the price of one [unless stated otherwise]. $15.50 for an adult, $12.50 students/pensioners, $12 for members & $11.50 for kids. BYO snacks & drinks is a bonus. A word of warning for those who dislike smoking. If you have your doors open and/or windows down you will get that unpleasant smell. As the only drive-in in Sydney, there is not much to compare it to however, it is a great novelty and definitely one to experience. I would highly recommend it to anyone

I love going to the movies and the Gold Class is the epitome of the movie going experience. Big…read morereclining seats, timed seat service, lounge to relax to have a drink before the movie and individual bathrooms. Unfortunately at Castle Hill they continually drop the ball. One time we ordered popcorn and a drink and the popcorn came out after 10 minutes and finally the drink came 15 minutes after, which meant it was a very dry popcorn experience. This time I thought I would be smart and got a drink at the Kmart just below. Except the popcorn never came, I pressed the call button continuously for over 15 minutes (after over 30 minutes of waiting). The dude finally came out a bit peeved letting me know I am pressing the call button, I let him know that I haven't got my popcorn and presto it arrived. It shouldn't be hard to deliver simple food at the start of the movie. It also shouldn't take 15 minutes to get service. Also they decided to collect empty plates 10 minutes before the movie ended. Why? Doesn't really make sense to disturb everyone during the climax of the movie...

Theres no getting around the fact that Gold Class is very expensive. Firstly the tickets are double…read morewhat a normal session costs ($40 v $20) and then there is the cost of the food & drinks. They have a nice foyer with little booths to sit in which I can only assume is so you can come and eat/drink before the movie. No idea why you would though when the cinema is in the middle of a shopping centre which has loads of cheaper and better food options. I went there once to have one of their 'signature sundaes'. It was the first time I saw it in normal lighting and I was surprised to find it was half the size I thought it was! They've also gone with the odd choice of unisex toilets so you walk into a unisex room with a big long mirror and basin and off that room is a load of doors each leading to a little ensuite. Who knows what they were thinking but its just odd. The seats are quite nice but the place is getting on now and because they haven't treated or repaired any of the seats the leather is torn or cracked on many of the seats. All in all its a nice experience but something I usually only end up doing in January to use any movie vouchers I picked up at Christmas time!

I'd give it more stars if it weren't for the lack of cleanliness in the cinemas and the conduct of…read morea large minority of other patrons, along with pared back service. To begin, the seats smell musty and are stained, the carpets sticky and some of the screens are streaked with dirt (or is it food thrown by patrons not cleaned off adequately?) Hmm. The behaviour of other patrons can at times ruin the cinematic experience here, with loud conversations between friends, knees and feet shoved into the back of one's seat and even mobiles ringing during the film (which are then answered!!!) along with people fiddling with social media/sending texts, screens shining up from the rows in front. I once had to ask someone to put down their smelly bare feet off the top of the seat next to me and they, in all earnestness, wanted to argue about it (?!). Unbelievable. Then there are the filthy toilets with the one perpetually out-of-order cubicle. There's never an usher in sight. At any one time in this large complex, only a handful of staff seem to be working. I shudder to think what would happen to patrons if there was ever a critical incident. That being said, the staff are lovely and no doubt long suffering. They do a great job in the circumstances. Lastly, I was a cinema usher back in the 1990s. It's a shame to see how cutbacks in the industry and high ticket and f&b prices have preserved profits for the large chain(s) while ultimately cheapening the experience and thus lowering expectations of what was once a fun and worthwhile outing. No wonder streaming services and sales of massive televisions are doing so well. Lift your game, Event.
