He was able to take 6 for a banana boat ride while 2 sat in the boat and took pictures. We had 11 people for the banana boat so he made 2 trips for us. Everyone had a great time from the youngest (5 yrs.) to grandma and grandpa. Keith was so accommodating to all the needs of our large group and everyone liked him so much. My husband and boys went fishing and caught a couple fluke. The boys were excited to catch a couple of crabs and robinfish as well. We definitely felt like VIPs and we will only use Fire Island VIP for our yearly vacation from now on! Thanks for a great time we all thought it was awesome!

SEVEN STAR FISHING EXPERIENCE Jul 2025 * Friends…read moreFour of us went fishing on Long Island Sound yesterday from 12 pm to approximately 6 pm with Eric, AKA Captain Fish, from Port Jefferson, Long Island. What a glorious experience. It was the first time of deep sea fishing for two of us. We not only caught tons of fish but got wonderful lessons from Eric as to how to do it right. He is a great teacher, always watching and correcting you so that you don't develop bad habits, but doing so with a ready smile. He is also very ethical and would only let us keep porgies (11 inches +) and sea bass (16.5 inches +) that meet regulation. Our end of the day haul was 30 large sized fish which was way beyond expectation. Most importantly we had 6 hours of pure fun. Also, his boat is extremely clean and well kept. If you ever want to go deep sea fishing, look no further and just call Eric / Captain Fish! I have already recommended him to all my friends who are chomping at the bit to go. They are, I bet a little envious as well - wondering how a novice like me could so much fish. All credit goes to Eric!

Eric had so many spots in his GPS that we had no trouble getting on the fish right away. We had loads of action the whole time and got a few beauties for dinner. The boat is fast, comfortable, and the Cap't was a super nice, laid back, non-smoking!, knowledgeable guy. As an avid angler I appreciate a captain who truly enjoys fishing, doesn't watch the clock, and doesn't mind sharing his knowledge. Plus he is a dog lover - just an added bonus in my opinion. Upon check-in we'd learned that the limit is typically 4 people (700 lb maximum), but since most of us are pretty small we were well under that weight limit even as five people, so they allowed it (and I lived to write this review so, all good). After signing my life away and a very quick motor tutorial by a kid who looked like he couldn't be older than middle school, we were on our way. The motor on this boat took a little getting used to, but once I got the hang of it I was a pretty good captain (I'd like to think). We put down the anchor and got out to explore Bird and Gull Islands, then headed over to another beach with a hill to climb up and get a bird's eye view of the area. Before we knew it, it was time to head back to the harbor, but we kept the party going with some drinks and food (will review that separately). Jay (who I think is the owner or manager?) told us we were only allowed to rent a boat if we took a picture and it turns out he was serious (see the photo shoot results in my photos which turned out pretty cute). He took these on his phone so not sure what else he plans to do with them.
