I recently hosted a Christian Singles Hub event at Cedar Beach in Babylon, and I couldn't have picked a better spot! We were scheduled from 4:30-6:30pm but ended up staying until just after dusk because it was that good. The back picnic tables made the perfect setup for deep conversations, games, and even s'mores by the grill. A few of us took a walk down to the water and got in plenty of steps--it was totally worth it for the views! I'd love to come back and check out The Salt Shack next time. On a quick walkthrough, I noticed how beautifully it was decorated, and the staff I met were so friendly. Even from the picnic area, we could hear and enjoy the live music, which was such a fun bonus. I was also surprised to see their full volleyball tournament setup--it turns out a friend of mine was even competing that same day! This and Tobay are our favorites on Ocean Pkwy. It was such a nice day we decided to take a drive out early and go. I forgot how big Cedar Beach is. There is a long path that leads through the Salt Shack (always wanted to eat there but it was way too early to pop in for a meal) and out into the beach. The beach was quiet but the lifeguards were out. We let Bubs run around in the sand before leaving. I did see a bit of garbage on the beach...people please clean up after yourselves. But yes, we love the beaches on LI and we have our favs. This is one of them, but if you're not a resident of the town you will pay a ton to park and for a pass. I think they stop charging after a certain time. But if you want to go for a beach day, it's worth it if you pack the car and go! read more

This has been a long time coming since I've been to this beach before. there has been so many improvements since the last time I was here.first the restaurant the Salt Shack has a large beautiful outdoor sitting area that's decorated like a tropical island. The beach has spot to BBQ if you want and a play area for the kids. It also has a large amount of volleyball courts, maybe for tournaments. On the bay side there are plenty of docking slips for boats and a large fishing area. I also seen a large camping area for motor homes and campers and the place is well kept. PS.Town of Babylon residence with a permit get in for free and non residents have to pay a small fee. read more

Hubby and I spent the afternoon here and had lunch. The food and drinks were good. I wanted a pretzel, but they were $15, a decent size, but I couldn't see purchasing a pretzel for that much. read more

I experienced a serious medical emergency while sitting at Mount Sinai Cedar Beach. I was in my normal spot near Tiki Joes Food court saying hello to my beach friends & watching the lifeguards do their vigorous morning training exercises. To the point they were alerted by a beach friend of mine that I was in Distress & without hesitation these young adult men & woman sprung into immediate action. Rendering oxygen while comforting me ie; telling me everything will be ok. In the mist of this they also had called for an ambulance and fire rescue which both made it down to the beach quite quickly. I was taken to Mather Hospital where I stayed for several plus days. From the very very bottom of my Heart I say Thank you, Thank you Cedar Beach Life Guards for your absolute professionalism & your use of your excellent medical training. You Men & Woman are Truly Amazing!!!! May God Bless you all today everyday!!! read more

Best beach? I like to think so, but I may be biased as a Babylonian. One of the perks being in the TOB is getting the beach pass for local beaches and the spray parks for $45. Last time we came the lot for Cedar was full, so we parked in the lot next door. It's an easy enough walk, but if you have chairs, food, towels, etc. just consider it your CrossFit training for the day. There is also a trolley that escorts people back and forth when the lot fills up. We had a pretty large group so we toughed it out. There were about 1,000 volley ball games going on so it was rather crowded. And yes, as others has stated it is a long walk to the water. But once you get there...the view is worth it. And you are away from the crowded volley ball game area. Time to dig your toes in the sand and relax! Once the sun had mostly set, we walked back up where the music was gearing up (live music every night!!!) and perused the food. Bango Bowls is here, which is delicious. Got an acai bowl and a poke bowl (Spicy Sal) to share. Poke bowls are where it's at! Such good beach food. And I couldn't resist a pina colada - a classic summer drink. It was a bit sweet and not much alcohol in it, at a price point of $12 I would have hoped for a little better but... All in all, Cedar Beach is a great spot. If you aren't a Babylon resident, come after 5 p.m. where they don't check the sticker, hang out and listen to the sounds of the waves and some good tunes. read more

As a taxpaying resident of Babylon i am disgusted that they were charing $40 to come in!! They said since today is a holiday (Juneteenth) its $40 to get in. Cedar beach and the town of babylon must be out of there minds charging residents $40 to park. read more

My friends and I came here 2 weeks ago and liked it. Let's get straight to the point- it's $40/car. We were a bit surprised but paid it anyway since we wanted to try a new beach. For us, it was a great experience but not somewhere we are going every weekend during the Summer. Like others have stated, it's def a trek to get to the beach. They do provide a pickup truck to take you to and from but we didn't get on it. The truck would take too long so we ended up walking anyway but that is a nice option to have. They also have another parking lot across the street and offer a little go-cart type deal to transfer people from one lot to the other. The beach itself was clean and not too crowded. The salt shack was pretty awesome and offered a good variety of beach food you don't see at other beaches (pretty good food as well)! They have poke bowls for the healthier peeps and 2 full-service bars for my drinking peeps. Drinks were yummy and we were able to drink on the beach-woo hoo! They were playing music by salt shack and it def got lively toward the end of the day/beginning of the night. I think fri-sun there is a dj/live music so it seems like the hot-spot for locals to go to at night time. They have a small stage area for the bands and area to chill/mingle/drink. The bathrooms were fine when i went and not dirty. Why it won't get 5 stars: $40/car to get in, long trek to the beach, and it was survival of the fittest getting a chair and table at salt shack. However, we had a great day and stood there and got our money worth. read more

Great beach, not so great campground. Since there's no separate yelp page for the camp ground I'm airing my grievances here. Not only do you need to book an entire week (no matter how long you actually want to stay) but if you cancel, you don't get a refund! When the town decides to open up reservations for the year, the entire summer season books up in 2 days. Miss the 2 days and you just paid for a permit you can't get a site for until AFTER Labor Day. A good majority of the sites are vacant until the weekend hits, then they all fill up. Can't book a site mid-week since everyone HAD to book the whole week even though they just stay the weekend. (See the problem there?) All the sites have water and electric, no sewer, though there is a dump station on site. Plan on bringing a Costco size supply of bug spray, the green flies are unbearable. Town of Babylon if you are reading this, (respectfully) get your act together! read more

Great Beach, music every night. BUT You have to buy drinks only from salt shack to sit in band area. Some real A-hole mercenaries enforcing that too. NYS Police are common too. Other patrons can be aggressive and take your spot, very rude and then the above mentioned security assholes will side with those stealing your table. So beware lots of A-Holes. If You Just want a calm day go to Gilgo or Overlook. read more

My friend and I went to Cedar Beach. Before we went there we saw a sign it says open to the public. As we get there we spoke to a friendly guy we asked how much it is he said $40 if your not a resident. I said why is it $40? He said because it's a private beach but it's open to the public. I'd have to say that is is one of my favorite beaches on LI. First, they sell alcohol that can be consumed on the beach. Long Beach will have it's young patrol guys issue a ticket for the very same thing that's encouraged here. (You can't bring alcohol from outside, but they sell strong enough here.) Second, during the weekday, it's a quiet beach. Third, it's has a great restaurant. I went on a Tuesday afternoon. It was so quiet. And even after hundreds descended for a volleyball tournament, it was still quiet on the beach. Great sand. Clean beach. And you can bring drinks to it. This is a more family friendly beach than others, but a great place to enjoy. The only downside is that the beach is really far from your car. Wait to take the car tram. Walking that distance -- about 500 yards -- is enough to get your calves in shape for the rest of your life. But that's it. It's a great beach, with a lot of space and great waves. And if you want something a little more crunk, head back to the Beach Hut near the parking lot. They get it in there. read more

All you can ask for in a beach: clean sand, great waves, tasty comfort food, good vibes, and a fleet of volleyball nets as far as the eye can see! The Salt Shack is a beach-front bar / eatery spot with a great list of cool drinks and delicious finger-food made to perfection! (There chicken tenders and fries are amazing). Very family-oriented beach that doesn't exclude the single vibe either. Live music with a dj provided. Also can be reserved for private parties, if you wish. They also provide free pick-up truck transportation to and from the salt shack if you don't feel like walking long ways. Don't forget your volleyball! They have a whole huge beach section dedicated to the sport. It cost about $40 bucks for parking here, but the service and cool vibe at this beach is well deserved! read more

Love this side of the beach the waves are crazy is deep so you really have to be careful if you don't know how to swim. I love the open space and how is not crowded. They also have a cute spot you can get drinks and food. After 3 it starts getting a little crowded on the volleyball area because they have tournaments. read more

Cedar Beach is by far my favorite beach on Long Island. It is a very clean beach and perfect for everyone. If you want to catch some rays Cedar never gets too crowded. If you want to stay away from the sand there is a pavilion with a beach hit that serves pretty good food and amazing frozen adult beverages (I recommend their mudslides!). Since this is a Town of Babylon beach you need to get a recreation pass only available to Town of Babylon residents. The pass is currently $40. I'm not sure of the price to get in with out a pass, but I know it's a minimum of $30. Besides the beach and beach hit there is plenty to do at Cedar. They have a marina for boats and a camp ground for RVs (permits required). Love this clean, quiet beach and can't wait to come back this weekend for better weather. It has that old Montauk vibe without the tourist and the long drive/insane traffic. It feels like a little oasis just an hour outside of Manhattan. You can even walk to the lighthouse nearby which is super scenic and feels incredibly zen. Parking was free due to less than ideal weather, which was awesome, but there were still plenty of lifeguards on duty and staff cleaning up what small amount of litter there was. We came last weekend and it was a little chilly and overcast for August but it didn't diminish our enjoyment. I'll update with more photos after our next visit. read more

My favorite beach on Long Island!! Beautiful and clean south shore beach in Suffolk County. This is a Town of Babylon beach, but it is also available to the public and not just town residents. Admission is not cheap. $20.00 during the week, $30.00 on the weekend... Town of Babylon residents should get the beach/town park pass for $40 and save! ....now you ask WHY so much... Well you get a beautiful, pristine beach, complete with a Beach Hut which serves alcohol. They have a great line-up of live bands that play throughout the summer. During peak beach days they run a truck that will bring you and all your gear/friends/chairs down closer to the water, so no walking all the way to the water with everything!! If you want a nice beach, that doesn't get crowded/noisy/filled with delinquents, this is it... Now get out there and enjoy SUMMER!! read more

We love this place. 2 years in a row, my wife's high school has had a informal reunion here. From a big variety of years, they get together to celebrate and catch up. Classmates who still are playing in various bands formed as one and rocked out on the deck. Friendly atmosphere, clean, great staff and the food is outstanding. read more

Our favorite beach spot on Long Island hands down! From the food, music, parking, playground, etc. all amazing. Most important was when my family had an emergency today 7/14/18 when our 2 1/2 year old son dislocated his elbow (for the 3rd time) and the staff was simply amazing. They stopped the truck going back and forth to the beach just for us so we could gather our belongings up and head out. Asked if we wanted an ambulance, helped carry our stuff out to the parking lot and just went above and beyond without hesitation. Kudos to the staff at cedar beach we truly were blessed to have you with us today. Can't wait to be back next weekend with a fully healed baby boy! FYI... he is all good! Went to a pediatric urgent care and his elbow was put back in place. Most common injury for infants and toddlers! read more

This is a nice normal beach - but for $30. $30 of hard earned cash just to walk up to the ocean and sit down. Maybe it would be worth it if there were something special about this place, but there isn't; it's absolutely normal. It's pretty crowded, just like Jones Beach or parts of the Rockaways. The walk from the parking lot to the beach is very long, just like you might expect at most beaches. There are gross bathrooms with wet floors like at many beaches. There is even a restaurant with normal food, just like you might find elsewhere. All of it is just fine and reasonable, except for the exorbitant price of $30. For a less expensive nearby option, try Jones Beach. Or for a free option with a great restaurant nearby, try the rockaways at 105th St. and eat at Caracas Arepa Bar. read more

Happened upon this place on while attempting a spontaneous trip to Robert Moses, but ill-equipped as I was, the journey turned into a desperate quest for a snack for my four year old. We had an amazing experience here! The beach is so clean and not crowded, and we loved all the amenities, including the classic rock blaring out of the beach shack. Beach shack fare was decent, too. Just what we needed. Those Babylonians are a civilized crowd! read more

This beach is a gem. There is a pick up truck that takes you back and forth to the beach. The beach is maintained well, soft sand, clean and well groomed. It's not very crowded and even when it is you can walk a bit to get away form it all. I love the Beach Hut. The food is good and the selections are many. The bar serves up Mud Slides to name a few and the bartenders are friendly and fast. Some nights there's music and it becomes a beach party. I just love going to this beach. I only wish there was a hotel or house rental near by. I travel all the way from Westchester and would love to spend a night and another day or two or three!!! read more

It's got a good sized shoreline on the ocean and fairly clean sand. There is a park, volley ball courts, basketball courts, deck area, grills and a Beach Hut. It's a Babylon town beach but others can go here too for a fee. There is a September 11th memorial and a Par 3 golf course also, giving a family plenty of activities. The one downside is the distance between the ocean and the parking lot, although this is not nearly as far as when I was a kid due to the erosion over the years. read more

After reading the reviews we decided to give this beach a try! All I can say is WE WILL BE BACK!! We live in Westchester County so it's a little bit of a drive but it was totally worth it! The "adult beverages" they serve at The Hut are delicious and my kids enjoyed the food! The restrooms were very clean and the beach itself was perfect! The sand wasn't loaded with rocks or shells so walking barefoot was NO problem at all :) I thought because it was Memorial Day the place would be crowded but it wasn't! That was a huge plus for me because the last thing I want is to feel like everyone is laying on top of each other! We will be back very soon! read more

T.O.B. Beach with nice concession. The beach has grown over the years making the walk to the ocean literally a 1/2 mile long.

Bathrooms are disgustingly unclean and in need of renovation!!!!! There are no changing tables for babies. The ridiculous $40 entrance/parking fee for weekends should at least cover employees to clean the bathrooms every hour (even fast food restarants do that). Beach was clean but a very far walk. They do provide a pick up truck that can transport you to and from the beach which was nice. read more

When it gets busy at the end of the day people get very aggressive and take over your spot. I mean you'r their early to get a good spot for music and then people are extremely rude and so aggressive as to try and take over your spot. I was miffed by this and when I complained corporate security told me I WAS WRONG! And threatened me! It's a nice place but forget fairness, I'm a Babylon person and I was very poorly treated. The one star is only because of the horrific condition of the bathrooms, specifically the ladies room. The beach is great, the beach hut is awesome, the food, the drinks, the bands are all great. As per my girlfriend, the ladies room is always so bad, it brings the whole thing down. Last time there, a park's department worker commented to my girlfriend that there was no sense cleaning it now as it would just get dirty again. Then, right after the band went off and people were leaving, same employee closed the ladies room and told all the woman looking to use it to go to men's room. So to be clear, the beach hut and it's workers are easily 4 or more stars. Park's department workers in charge of ladies room are so bad they bring the total to a one. read more
