This beach is 12 minutes from our front door, so you can't beat if for convenience. Every year, we…read morego to park headquarters and buy a summer parking pass for fifty dollars (senior rate). At peak times and peak season, parking can be five or six rows back, but we've never had any real trouble parking. The lifeguards here are amiable and efficient. There are good restrooms and a snack bar. The beach is magnificent, with great opportunities to see bird life such as American Oyster Catchers and cormorants. Only problem some years is the seaweed, which can turn some parts of the beach into a soup. On the other hand, once you are on the beach, you can walk as far as you wish towards Long Beach, and set up your beach chairs anywhere. The Parks Dept. continues to improve this every year. This season they have added a large ramp from the restroom area to the beach, covering about half the distance to the water. Regular admission is ten dollars, so we make sure to go more than five times to get more than our money's worth.

During the summer if you don't get there by 10am if you're driving, good luck finding a parking spot. During the summer you do have to either pay to get on the beach, unless you have a beach pass for the season.

Non-resident cars must pay $50 for parking and non-residents on foot pay $25. Residents pay $10. I believe the upped the non-resident fee significantly which is kind of crazy. I would suggest investing in one of those beach trolleys with the large wheels. It makes life so much easier. Unfortunately, I had one with thin wheels so it was a lot to drag that thing in the sand. We picked a spot not too far from the entrance but it was hell getting there with my cart. I have since returned it for a larger-wheeled cart. The water was very rough. I likely wouldn't return here with my toddler in tow but I wouldn't mind an adult's beach day outing here. The beach is very clean and there is ample space where you don't feel on top of other beach goers. The kids had a great time playing in the sand, making sand catles and running around. The seagulls are very aggressive. They were attacking people's unattended food. One guy had to chase away a pack of seagulls that descended upon some unsuspecting person's goodies. They're brazen and will go through your stuff while you're enjoying the water. After spending time on the beach, we went to the showers to rinse off. The shower water is really cold so be prepared for that. It was nice to see that the bathrooms were still clean after a full day out on the sand. Usually, these places look worse for wear after so many people have been using the facilities all day. I'm just happy that this outing made my daughter enjoy the beach and even the sand. She used to not want to walk in the sand. We had to carry her and place her on her chair or a mat but this day, she stopped being particular about her sensory issues with the sand and gave in, enjoying everything else she could do with it. It was great to see her evolution.

Street parking was also free & easy to find on a overcast Saturday night. We enjoy the scenic drive going leading to the beach. We also did some boardwalk walking & saw some guys fishing. Love the fact that this beach is so quiet, and, relatively clean!…read more I've come to this beach on multiple occasions now, once for a Friday company volunteer clean-up event and on a Saturday just with my family. On the 1st occasion that I came here, I was pleasantly surprised at how clean the beach actually was as we didn't have to do much work to spruce it up. Garbage is rarely found on the beach, BUT there are a lot of broken shells and little rocks laying around. It was very quiet when I arrived at 9 AM for my volunteer event, but activity did begin to immediately pick up around 10:30 - 11:00 AM as families began rolling in to the parking lot. The beach isn't huge and neither is the parking lot, but on the summer Saturday that my family and I visited, it didn't feel all that crowded still. No lifeguards are on duty here and I don't think they ever are here since it's relatively small compared to more popular beaches. The one downside of the beach is that there isn't a whole lot around either as the beach is surrounded by a residential neighborhood and stores and restaurants are far off. BUT, the best thing about this beach is that it's FREE and no fee is required to enter!!

Nassau County is SOOOO STRICT about being a resident to enjoy their rec. facilities during "prime time," but after hours/off season, come one/come all (well, sort of...) Beautiful beach, LOTS of space, MUCH less built up than its neighbor to the west (Long Beach) and added bonus the awesome, unique, "space age" picnic pods!! On a beautiful Saturday evening, we had the beach almost to ourselves at about 6/7pm. Walked a few shoreline miles in each direction and wondered how I was EVER going to return to "landlocked" Ohioooooo a few days later!! Questionable "exclusivity" aside (I think the OCEAN belongs to EVERYONE) this is a beautiful place!! ENJOY!!

I visited here before the Memorial Day season open so entrance and parking were free. There is a…read morelot of parking available. It was a gorgeous warm day in May 2025 and not at all crowded. Plenty of parking and beach area to walk or relax on. You can walk to the Audoban land from a part of the beach which is a level and easy walk that offers great views and a view of the Stratford Point Lighthouse. There are several pavilions for rent get togethers. There are resident and non residents seasons passes or a daily charge (more for non residents). There is also an adjacent golf course. it is a livelyovely setting and quite sure it's very popular and packed during the summer season, but opened all year long.
