This was a classic, Greek diner. We came in on a cloudy and stormy day, but it would be great to come on a warm sunny day to use the patio. It might have been the weather, but it was pretty quiet when we came in for dinner. The interior was slightly dated, but in that kind of comfortable way that diners always seem to master. Our server was new, but he was very nice! Not being strangers to the classic Buffalo area diner experience, we knew exactly what to expect food wise. My sister and I met here for dinner. I parked my car, got out, and started to call my sister to ask where she was (as she can't find her way out of a brown paper bag even with a GPS. Sorry sis). I was literally right next to my car when either the owner or an employee came out and began SCREAMING (screaming is even an understatement) at me that I couldn't park there. Sunday dinner. I should have realized by the dirty front glass door and the dirty floor. Waited 1hour for a salad with chicken and chicken souvlaki. The salad came out first then 10 minutes later the souvaki. Each time the waiter apologized and dissapeared. The salad had spoiled greens around the outside and fresh iceburg in the middle. We ordered the fried fish. The breading was hard as a rock, I had to break it to eat the fish that wasn't overcooked and dry. My husband sent his back and was offered one of the daily specials in its place. It wasn't much of an improvement. We were given rice pudding to take home to compensate for the trouble. He was still charged for the fish. It wasn't removed and the less expensive meal added. We were given some lame excuse for the problem-- new oil in the fryer. I don't think that was the case. We arrived on a Monday evening around 6pm to a nearly empty restaurant and was ignored by two employees who when asked finally went to find a server to seat us. Drinks arrived promptly and it took almost 45 minutes to get our open chicken souvlaki which was only okay. The lettuce was not fresh, the Feta cheese was skimpy and very salty and the Greek dressing was mostly vinegar. We ordered three servings of rice pudding to go which we intended to enjoy at home but when we opened them up the pudding was rancid!!! Obviously no one bothered to check the meals or dessert before serving. The only reason we left a tip was the attentive server. The food here was worse than bad. I got the broiled seafood combo ($25) and it came with 4 shrimp, 4 scallops, 2 fish, coleslaw, 4 greek potatoes (not too bad), and a piece of bread. They were all super small and hard. All of it was over cooked significantly and did not taste good at all. It was absolutely disgusting. My brother's meal was also very subpar as well. On Monday we stopped for dinner on a bus trip. We were given 2 choices of Greek dishes. Greek salad with a pita, chicken or beef. The chicken was fine, the beef was hard to chew. We were also supposed to get bakalova or lemon meringue pie for dessert. Instead we received a packaged cookie the waitress threw down on the table. The wait staff was very rude. The location of a Demetri's is interesting It's by the pier in Dunkirk on Lake Erie. It's a nice viewing harbor and boats . There's outside dining. The interior is a bit old fashion and has some wear, but it's kind of nostalgic. The booths are very comfortable. The waitress was very friendly and efficient. The menu is big and has a variety of choices ! The house cuisine is Greek. There is a good selection of Greek salads , wraps and entrees. We had the Greek Omelette and the Gyro wrap. Typical everything's on the menu restaurant. The location by Lake Erie was pleasant and the restaurant was clean and well populated with locals. Service was ok but not great. The food was disappointing. The grilled gyro was just weird. Not a typical gyro sandwich but not really a plated dinner. No tomatoes and the sauce was not a cucumber sauce. I eat it with a fork and knife. My wife's stuffed cabbage arrived cold, she sent it back. After it was reheated she ate it but it was just ok. Maybe in the summer, on the deck it would be a good stop but I won't go there again. read more

Solid spot for eggs. This is a Greek diner with an extensive menu. Very extensive. I was cautious in my ordering and had a veggie omelette with Swiss cheese crispy hash browns and a side of rye toast. Food was very solid and I was pleased. We often come here for breakfast because we were not thrilled with their dinners. However, I am not sure we will return anytime soon. The eggs, homefries, sausage and ham tasted very greasy. Ordered a grilled gyro pita and french fries. Received a plate of salad and a small pile of cut up, hardened, old, over crisp pieces of gyro. No fries. The waitress told us there was only one overwhelmed cook and she kept apologizing. I showed another waiter the pile of burnt small pieces of old cut up gyro and he said "That\'s how gyro is always served." I remember the good old days of delicious, strips of fragrant gyro are long gone. Dimitri's has taken a big nosedive. I've been coming here off and on for a few years. I always felt they were consistent. I use them as a lunch spot and typically get the same thing. 4 stars for what I get, but cannot really comment on the Greek food or other plates outside of my norm. I get breakfast (omelet) or a turkey club. They do a pretty good job with omelets and the hash browns. Nothing to rave about, but consistently good. I dig their turkey club with fries. Fries are good here. I could probably eat that sandwich a few times a week and be happy. I've had friends that got the burger and pot roast and always liked it too. Nice place with good service. Ok Soo we went here because family have tried it and liked it before. The food is extremely dated and bland. I've had a lot of Greek food. It's always fresh and inviting. This place delivers none of this. We had a large party with us and tried a variety of things. Everything was not good. Food tasted old or frozen. Also everything I tried was bland and not very fresh. Perfect for a cup of coffee and appetizer we were looking for mid-afternoon. Right on the lake - plenty of parking. Ordered a Greek appetizer platter. Where I come from in Florida, it would have been served for two. I asked the waitress if it would be enough to share for three and she looked surprised. I guess it could have fed five. We couldn't finish. Everything was very good except I think the spanikopita was a little oily. Good service, no rushing, just letting us enjoy our snack and coffee. Back again this year. What happened to the service? Do they make the servers cook also? I had to get up to get a second cup of coffee after waiting quite a while. OHEMGEE it's not Italian! I've been coming to Dunkirk for that past 3 years to fish the harbor and I've never made an attempt to stop here. It's right on the lake so I automatically assumed it was some place with bar food or it was Italian food since Dunkirk seems to be a pretty small town. I mean what are the chances of something good? Yes, I know my mentality is screwed. Anyhow, today I decided to grab a bite to eat here not because I was curious, but because I was trapped. Today the town had their Memorial Day parade and it blocked the exit/entrance to the ramp. I couldn't leave and I looked like I caught the middle of the parade. Hungry and not able to drive anywhere, I decided to walk into this establishment. I walk in and it was dead. There was a sign to seat yourself. Kind of odd but okay. The server comes over and gives me the menu to look over and I was presently surprised. They offer a lot of Greek dishes here. I used to date a goddess so I was somewhat familiar with what was offered. My goddess used to make Dolmades so I order that as an app and ordered the open beef souvlaki as my lunch. Food came out rather quick as expected since they were dead. The Dolmades was good. My goddess used to add some pork and steamed hers over the pork so it was more flavorful that just he rice filled ones here but they were still good. I don't know what souvlaki is but it came out with the beef, a salad, and some pita bread. I believe throughout my entire life of eating pita bread, I've been eating the fake stuff. This pita was out of this world compared to what I've had and have seen. It seems like it was made fresh there and I liked it so much I'll even say it's almost as good as Naan. Almost the same thing but naan is on another level. Regardless, I can finally say I've had real pita. I was never a fan of pita til now and nothing less will ever suffice. The beef was cooked perfect. I didn't really care for the salad as it was just iceberg lettuce with a pickle, two slices of tomatoes, olives, red onions, a pepperoncini, and what I believe is a butt load of feta. I finished the beef and was good to go. As I sat and waited for my food, I looked around and was amazed at how I missed all the somewhat Greek/Mediterranean accents going on. I even noticed that the owner was ethnic and probably Greek. He reminded me of my old Italian buddy that I know. No BS'er and straight to the point with the employees while being somewhat humorous at the same time. Overall, it's a pretty decent place if you want to try some Greek food. Greek food doesn't seem to go beyond Greek salads and Gyros here in the states though. I know octopus is a big thing over there in Greece and I would love to see it served up here in their fashion. read more

Where do I start. Nice view of Lake Erie from the deck. Now for the other stuff. Wife ordered the fish fry, the fish was over cooked on the outside and under cooked on the inside. How do you do that ? Need to call the "cook guy" and check. I, on the other hand, ordered the club sandwich. It had american "cheese" on it and two (2) slices of bacon, (american cheese ? ) The bread was slightly toasted, so much so it was mostly white and soft. Oh yeah, I almost forgot the hash browns that were deep fried,. Who does that, demetri's does that. A $38.33 lunch that was picked over at best, and the waitress says, would you like a box for that ? Nope, just a garbage can. One more thing, the "waitress" cleaned of the table crumbs with the back of her hand, knew we were in trouble right quick after that move. read more

It took them 40 mins to prepare 2 pitas, baklava and a dish with chicken in it. I guess they had to decapitate the chicken and pluck the feathers. I said NO onions. The box had a mark NO ONIONS.
