demtra's ravioli, gnocchi and bread bowl

It's easy to miss (especially at night) since it's down an alleyway and tucked off into a corner but once you see it: you've struck a gem! The servers are very attentive and don't skip a beat to helping if you need a recommendation. We got the ravioli and the gnocchi as our mains. The bread basket (featuring a combination of rye and focaccia) was paired with a nice flavored butter that complimented the entrees well. For drinks we got an aperol spritz and a limoncello spritz--both very strong. We ended the night with a tiramisu served in a cup. If you normally skip on desserts, do yourself the favor and get the tiramisu from here. Absolutely divine. The decor was a mix of modern and roman. All in all an amazing place to grab some dinner after a long day of roaming the streets of Amsterdam.

We were tired and delirious after a day of travel, searching for some decent Italian food in what we soon realized was a very touristy area with pretty lame food options. We stumbled upon Demetra after seeing a good Yelp review and I'm so glad we did because it was DELICIOUS! Andrea and his team were so hospitable and made us feel like we were right at home. Everything is made in house and it shows. From the thin crust pizza to the handmade pasta, Demetra does it right!

We were in the mood for something different and settled upon Eatmosfera. This is a small Italian restaurant that has really good food. I had the seafood pasta and my wife had the ham pizza. The portions and the quality of the food was right on par. Service was also good as we didn't want for anything. It's kind of hidden but well worth the find. These are places that I look for when I am visiting other cities.

Il migliore ristorante Italiano nel Olanda! We were lucky enough to find this lovely restaurant on the first night of our visit to Amsterdam. It is wonderful and completely legitimate cucina Italiana. From the playful name (E)atmosfera, a nod to the Italian word for ambiance, to the cozy decor, warm friendly service, and fantastic food, it is a joy. The wine list is small but a offers lovely selections in all price ranges spanning the entirety of Italy. A very nice Mon Ros Barbera D'Asti started us off well. We started with the Porchetta e finocchio e pecorino and the boccorini which were both fabulous. Two people shared a generously sized pizza di bufala mozzarella and the other two had tagliolini ai frutti di mare which were simply amazing. The Pasta was cooked al Dente without asking and the seafood ragù was superb. Regrettably, we had no room for dessert (siamo pieno!) PS, I forgot to take pictures of the main course.

The desserts here are amazing! The tiramisu is different than I've ever had before and I was very happy with it! And the expresó was robust and flavorful.

Great authentic Italian restaurant hidden away near Rembrandt Square. If you plan to have an nighttime outing at he bars near the square, this is a great place to start out your night. The food here is significantly better than many of the nearby pub food establishments. Only disadvantage is that the restaurant is relatively small and is very popular - we had to wait over 1 hour on a Saturday night. Due to the late seating several of the dishes were no longer available by the time we ordered. Even so, with the super busy environment, the waiters were friendly and we were pleased with the overall service level. Food was authentic and the features a nice variety of dishes between seafood, homemade pasta, and pizza. For appetizer, we ordered the seared scallops. We scallops were fresh and had good flavoring. Would recommend this as an appetizer if you would like something lighter. Our main course we ordered the home made seafood pasta. Great presentation and the homemade noodles were very good. Sauce was not too salty and the dish was filled with seafood. We also ordered a filet of the sea bass. The fish was prepared very very well with good texture - very fresh and great flavor. Desert was outstanding and would highly recommend the Tiramasu. Overall, great experience. Have not been to many Italian establishments in Amsterdam, but this has to be up there as one of the best.

If you get tired of the standard Amsterdam food, this is a great spot for an Italian meal. The waitstaff were super friendly (and fluent in English). It is a small place so be prepared to wait or just get a reservation. We came late and were seated promptly. We had some wine for 5-6 Euros per glass. This was good stuff. Had some pizza which was wood fired and quite good. Lots of monzarella. Sauce was nice...real nice. Also had the ravioli. The pasta was fresh and nicely flavored. I would like to go again.

Fabulous service, atmosphere, location and reasonable prices for the serving sizes. The food is absolutely splendid but it won't blow your mind. You won't be disappointed, this restaurant is as reliable as your '86 Toyota corolla.

Although the noise of Happy diners is a bit high in this tiny restaurant, the graciousness of the owner/server & his colleagues was heart-melting AND the food was exceptional. We loved the tender fish of the day, the pasta, the thin-crusted & chewy pizza, the creative garden salad plus the made-today melt-in-your-mouth tiramisu!! Highly recommend and encourage advance reservations.

Pasta with mushrooms and sausage

Cute little Italian spot hidden on a side street. I've gone here twice now and love this spot. Both times I went right when they opened at 5:30 without a reservation and was able to get in but they do fill up quickly with pre-made reservations. Highly recommend to book in advance. They didn't have any salads on the menu and I was really craving some veggies to go with my pizza. I asked if there were an options and they were able to whip up a very fresh salad with a delicious cheese on top. It was a great compliment to the pizza. I can't remember if the pizza was called margherita or bufalo mozzerella, but either way it was delicious, authentic and I felt like I was back in Italy. The second time I went I tried a pasta with mushrooms and sausage that was amazing. I believe it was called magliatelle de suga. The pasta tasted fresh and handmade. They also bring out fresh focaccia to enjoy with your meal. Definitely a go to for me whenever I'm in Amsterdam! The only thing holding me back from 5 stars was to have salads available on the menu!

Talgiolini alla trabaccolara Wonderful mixed seafood (mussles, scallops, squid, prawns) on pasta in a delicious tomato sauce. To die for.

I am very hesitant to give any restaurant five stars, but I'll make an exception for Eatmosfera.

Everyone REALLY raved about this place but truthfully I felt it wasn't that much different of a…read moreNeapolitan pizza experience than Punch (iykyk). Honestly I might like punch more... The pizza was definitely good but it didn't wow me the way I thought it would given this restaurant's prestige. The service was great and the inside is very nice but yeah. Truthfully I didn't think this was a super standout. Maybe I've had too much Neapolitan pizza... Worth eating at for sure especially if you haven't had Neapolitan before but yeah. Their cacio e pepe bucatini ball was my favorite part of the meal. Sooooooo yummy!!!! We managed to snag this reservation, no clue how. But 100% you need one so be sure to get one! I think they have a take out storefront though so that's also an option.

Supposedly one of the best pizzas in Amsterdam and all of Netherlands, nNea is impossibly hard to…read moreget a reservation. Reservations are often booked up for a year so our best bet was either take-out or walk-in. I don't think take-out is available every day of the week so be sure to check before heading out! When we visited, the wait for walk-in was over an hour and there was no way we were going to do that. Take-out is actually its own building and entrance right next to the restaurant. They don't have the full menu as the sit-down side but you can get your pizzas so much faster. They even acknowledge the fact that people will eat in front of the store so they'll provide plates instead of the pizza boxes to save on waste. They'll also have scissors to help cut your pizzas into shareable portions. Each pizza is large enough for a single person but it's better to do family-style and order a bunch of different types to try more. Their style of pizza has a bit of a larger crust and I ended up not finishing those. I tried the Oyster Mushroom, which was my favorite with the mushroom and garlic flavors. The second one was the Salsiccia and Patate (I think?) and was our meat pizza. I couldn't really understand the cashier but they were out of something so the pizza I got wouldn't have been the complete thing. I'm not sure what was missing but overall, a tasty pizza too. If you can get a reservation, I highly recommend dining in to try more things. But if your wait is over 30-45 minutes, just do take-out because I don't think it's worth the wait.
