The majority of the then 17 windows in my home were original (1938) and were the type that had counter weights inside the walls. They were pretty sad and I decided to replace them while doing a nearly full remodel. Windows were top on the list so I checked Yelp and got 3 estimates. I chose Deluxe Windows because Yanek was very professional, knowledgeable, and had a good vibe to him. He spent at least 2hrs with us while we decided which Windows to buy and how they would look. We are very particular and he was very patient. In the end we chose vinyl Amerimax. The following week, Alex came to my house to do a final measurement. He showed up on time and was very thorough. Gary and his son showed up 4.5 weeks later to install 15 Windows at 9am on a Saturday. They were able to install them all and only needed to return the next day to finish the caulking. But this does not mean that the job was done in a rush. They were extremely professional and understood that I would have to move my indoor cats around while they performed their tasks. The trim work that was installed looks amazing. It is wayyy better than I thought it would look and everyone is so amazed. I got a bi-fold door more than August 2021 and am still trying to get the proper door lock for the door, which means my door deadbolt doesn't properly lock and has been a safety issue for more than 1.5 years. The shopping experience went well, but after you buy something don't expect any customer service with issues from the manufacturer this dealer works with. I bought a bi-fold door, which was ordered from Milgard who partners with another manufacturer Western Windows Systems to make the doors. The very expensive door came with the wrong door handle and the wrong lock. After contacting Deluxe Windows, they were able to put an order for the proper door handle pretty quickly. The lock has been another story. First Deluxe Windows put an order through Milgard for a new lock, 3 separate times and each time the wrong one came. This was over 6 months. Then I was told to work with Milgard directly, who sent me the wrong lock 3 times until their process changed and they told me I now had to have the issue resolved with Western. It's been the same story. I still don't have the right lock - and the people whose job it is to help you are all sales people so they literally have zero incentive to resolve your issue so there's no customer service whatsoever. The 1 star is because the sale was actually great, but for such an expensive door I would expect much, much better customer service and it's just a joke that I've had more than 6 locks sent to me without resolving the issue. Next time, I would refuse to pay the full invoice until the issue is resolved. Didn't know better, but also didn't know we had a door with the wrong parts. read more

I had to replace a leaking window (new construction was done) plus 4 other original windows that just needed replacement. I selected Amerimax windows and they are great. Easy to use, easy to clean, heat/cool inside the house is night and day compared to my old windows. Yanek was the only company that said it is no problem to install windows with your shutters (no need to remove first). We got all our windows replaced by Deluxe. It was a good experience end-to-end. Step 1. We called the company and asked a for a quote for Milgard Vinyls. Yanek came and measured the windows. He walked with us through the neighborhood to show which houses have full replacement Vs Retrofit (which reduces the glass surface/ viewing area). Step 2. We received a quote by email. After a week, I was about to place the order on phone. To which, the owner (Yanek) asked us to not decide based on the pictures on the internet and invited to the store to physically see and interact with the windows before selecting one. So we made an appointment. Step 3. Store Visit: We showed up at the store and looked at several manufacturers (Milgard, Amerimax, and one more)... and picked Amerimax. It looked identical to Milgard in every way and was $1.5-2k cheaper (they were running a promo apparently). We placed an order then and there. Paid an advance. Step 4. Alex (the measurement guy) came and took measurements. He was polite and explained the options for the bathroom window... original window was placed on top of stone finish (on window sill). He said, cutting it could result in damage... He offered to two choices: cut the stone and install it on drywall; or install it above the stone like the old one was... The latter means, if I choose to remodel the bathroom, then I have to replace the window again. So I decided to get the stone cut. He took measurements suitably. Part 2 of the payment: In order to proceed further you'd pay up to 50 or 60% of the estimate.. only then they'd place the order with the window company. In other words, they do not take on bad debt risk for the windows. Only if your check cashes, they'd order. Step 5. Wait... Wait and Wait. 2 months - it is how long it takes to make 17 windows. 3 days per window. Step 6. Installation... was professional... we had a crew headed by Gary, his son and a friend. They were seasoned and very professional. Got the work done in a week (worked through MLK day). They initially wore shoe covers when walking on carpet... eventually they found that inefficient and installed a plastic shrink wrap type material that stuck to carpet (came off easily at the end), which protected the carpet. For one of the window, they had to modify the framing and drywall because the previous window was not installed right. They did it for a reasonable additional fee. Did all the trims and sill plates, caulking etc. right. They were pleasant, professional and the only thing they asked was "could we heat our food in your microwave/ oven?" (reasonable). Step 7. Best part is they left the scaffolding for two additional days for us to go touch up and paint the new outside trims. I practically begged them to paint it for us... they would not (not sure if it is a union thing or something). So this is the next best thing. I asked them to strengthen the scaffolding in a few places so that I could confidently walk 30' above ground... they did. So we could wrap up everything on our own. Step 8. They were done and gone. We settled the final bill. Then came the bill for scaffolding separately. I realized they never gave me an estimate for scaffolding. Yanek had told me that it would be a separate bill - Just not how much. I do not have a sense for if the amount was reasonable. I did not negotiate, because they did a good job overall and left the scaffolding for additional couple days. NOTE: Make sure you ask for scaffolding estimate upfront (i.e. after step 4). Unexpected cost escalations: 1. One of the door handle was not available in the color we wanted... the next best thing we could chose was slightly more expensive (like $20 more). 2. Sill plates: Original sill plates (from circa 1978) were damaged when removing the windows. Yanek offered to replace them at a fixed rate per window. 3. Framing and dry wall repair: This was circumstantial - based on how the previous window was installed. I saw the problem and approved it. All in all, these were reasonable. The only thing I was actually surprised by is that I completely forgot to ask for a scaffolding estimate. And they did not provide one. I was NOT taken by surprise that there was a bill. Yanek had mentioned earlier on that we have a choice to get scaffolding from either his shop or any other place (like home depot perhaps). I asked him to give a quote. but forgot about it. Thats all. Overall very happy. I will post an update an year later, circa March '19. read more

We had 7 windows installed, overall good experience. The quoting process was pretty easy with an initial house visit, followed by a visit to the showroom and deposit payment and then another sizing validation visit. The windows did take longer to arrive than originally thought, but once they arrived the installation was quick. Our original concern with installation was the potential for additional work in having to replace the original frame and repainting outside (not that we were against it, but it just adds to my list of to dos). That was mitigated as the installation was done from inside with no damage to the outside original frame, they did have a to remove a portion of the frame inside the house but they easily replaced it. Overall took less than 5 hours for our installation with clean up and removal of all old windows and debris. read more

They came once for the free quote, and another time for a final measurements before ordering the windows. The windows took about 2 weeks to come in. Had 9 windows and a sliding door replaced with new construction. Yanek was very helpful and honest with us throughout the whole process. The window installation and stucco looks great. Love the windows we picked (Millard Fiberglass). The fiberglass was a bit more expensive than vinyl, but it was totally worth it. Excellent quality. We ordered 17 windows and 1 sliding door over a year ago and the screens have yet to arrive. They continue to make excuses and blame the manufacturer for delays in material delivery, but I'm pretty sure at this point they forgot and do not intend to ever complete the job. The bay window they installed leaks and they have taken the position of ignoring the issue and blaming the manufacturer. Poor communication, delays, and faulty construction have been the standard for our experience with Yanek and Deluxe Window. We needed to get new windows, the house had the original 1960's single panes with a lot of gaps around them. Right from the process of the quoting, choosing the window brand/style, contract, and installation, Deluxe windows did it professionally and smoothly. Yanek is straightforward during the quoting process on site and explains everything patiently. At the same time he's not pushy towards getting the super expensive window brands. As promised the windows were ready in about 3 weeks and on the day of the installation, 2 people came over and changed out 5 windows, 2 picture windows and a french door in under a day. And very neat work! They don't leave anything for you to clean up and haul away the old windows! Note that while they are installing, they don't like you looking over their shoulder so have to accommodate that but not a big deal. Yanek came out and gave us a complete estimate for putting in a new sliding door that was from the 1960's, plus a bedroom window that had never been replaced. We were impressed with his knowledge and the competitive prices. He gave us a time when the slider and window would come in. Well, during that time the 1960's old slider fell off and broke. Summary = Misleading pricing, Failed city inspection, Unresponsive communication, No respect for client's time I just finished a project with Deluxe Windows. 10 windows in San Francisco. Took me 5 months to finish. Here is a shortlist of issues I ran into -I was quoted one price. This was revised after the permit, at which I had no way to change vendors. The latter price was higher than other vendors. -When they installed my windows, two had defects and all had missing parts -The first city inspection failed. The inspector was appalled by the mistakes that were made. -This led to 4 more subsequent visits - of which two times they came without the proper equipment or staff -Unresponsive communication throughout - I had to call/email several times to get a response. Of course, the only time they were prompt was to ask for payment. The installers were nice and polite, but overall this has been terrible experience and involved so many wasted hours.
