It was a little chilly since we were seated near the door, but the manager, Sebastian, made sure we were quickly reseated and comfortable, which we appreciated. It's been a while since my (pretty horrific) experience a few years ago. My teen wanted to try it, so we went during Spring Break, and everything was five-star, especially our waitress. She made the whole experience genuinely unforgettable. Fast forward to May 2026: I took my teen and his identical twin friends back for the twins' birthday and we decided to go for brunch. I'll never do that again. Our reservations noted the twins' birthday, but the waiter didn't acknowledge it, and after I mentioned it, he still kept forgetting. He made so many mistakes that I stopped trying to track them. He did, however, push hard, more like beg, for us to order the buffet. We told him we'd already chosen entrées because the presentation of the food mattered most to us, and that's not really something you get with a buffet. He promised we'd still get that presentation with all of our drinks. The drinks arrived about 20 minutes later, with none of the smoke, hoopla, or anything special...he told us he forgot. We also asked to view the buffet before ordering. We explained that most stations were empty, so we weren't interested. He assured us everything would be replenished. It was replenished... eventually. After waiting about 30 extra minutes and asking multiple times. The refills came out at a snail's pace, and the empty bins stayed empty far too long. We were also seated upstairs near the windows. A waitress spilled some of a drink on the small stair area near our seats and continued walking without picking it up. By the time we left an hour later, no one had cleaned it up, and multiple staff members walked right past it. A five-star experience followed by another one-star experience has to be enough to finally put the place on pause. Spending several hundred dollars each visit is just not worth it when the experience is this hit-or-miss. And they didn't even bring out two cupcakes for the identical twins birthday. Honestly, you could get a better meal at Golden Corral -- and that's no shade to them. Also, the presentation of the drinks and food were fun and instagram worthy! Cons: Though provided with large portions, the quality of the food was lacking. First time I have returned since my visit in 2021. This is definitely a place to take someone to impress ! There were 10 of us and one guy was celebrating his birthday. They gave him a crown and a smoking septre. Each of our items were served with ridiculously outrageous presentation. I tried the crab dip with pita bread and it was delicious! I also tried a bite of the steak bites and they were pretty good. For an entree, I got the lamb chops. They were tender and had a cilantro cream sauce and slices of pickled red onion. My cocktail was witches brew ($20) and it was absolutely fabulous! My husband also got a raspberry bourbon cocktail that was also very good. ($18) For dessert, I got the chocolate mousse cake with side of hot cocoa sauce and fruit. The chocolate sauce was amazing and reminded me of one of those chocolate lava cakes. Tip of 20% is automatically added to groups. There is a note on the menu that they WILL NOT SEPARATE CHECKS FOR 12 PEOPLE OR MORE. So be aware of that if you go with a group. The bill for my husband and I for 2 cocktails, 2 lamb chop entrees, and one chocolate dessert including tip was $195. Parking at the lot across the street is expensive ($14.) One guy parked in a garage and walked farther for $10. They redecorated since the last time I was there and it is much more colorful and fun ! Did they change the name too ? Came here on a weekend despite the reviews on Instagram it was quite empty. The place was clean and well organize the had several awards on the wall from 2020 to 2023. They were no current awards. Paid for parking upon entering was greeted and had a reservation. We were seated and waited for a very long time. No one came to the table not even even bring water. So we left the table because I was so hungry and went to the bar area as it was empty. I grabbed some food from the bartender. I enjoyed the lychee mimosa the popcorn shrimp. The shrimp and grits, lacked vegetables and real flavor and only had four shrimp. I quite enjoyed the Godiva brownie. The food came around a good time. The temperatures and textures were good. So let me start by saying that whoever is making videos of this place has been doing an amazing job promoting this restaurant. I saw this restaurant first on a video that someone posted on Instagram. It looked fun and exciting and we had some friends that we wanted to bring with us and have an outing together at a cool fun place. The menu is a little tricky. They promote a $45 brunch that gives you one starter, one main course, and one desert, but there are only a few items on the menu that match the $45 fee. As you look over the menu, the items on the menu have a "+$x" where "x" is a dollar amount to add to the brunch fee. For example. The burger was additional $24 so you pay $69 for the burger. The chicken wings are additional as well. So there are only a few items in the main course that are "included" in the $45 brunch fee. The representation of the food is really creative. I've never seen food displayed this way. So it was quite an experience and made that part of the brunch very fun. Popcorn shrimp brought out in a popcorn maker machine was one of those. The food, however just wasn't making the grade. And there was a mistake where the table beside me ordered the 24k gold chicken wings and I did as well and the kitchen brought their plate to me. After they sat it down, the lady beside me said "I think that is my plate" and I said "you can have it, I didn't touch anything and all I did was take a picture". But she insisted on not taking it. That made it weird for both of our parties. She was the only one at her table without food and I was the only one WITH food. The staff really screwed that up and for what you pay for this experience and the food, that was a big issue. The chicken wings were dry and not very meaty at all. More bone than meat and just not something I'd ever try again. I regretted not getting something else. The burger had lobster on it and we shared the lobster with others at the table and it just wasn't up to par with a $69 burger with lobster on it. You have a choice of ordering water only and it was warm to barely chilled, which added to the dryness of my chicken. There were 5 of us. My daughter had a $12 Caesar salad. I had the 24k chicken wings, there was a child with us that had the chicken nuggets, and the two others in our party at the shrimp & grits and the burger. When the bill came it was $292+ and I realized there was a $45 surcharge on the bill (tip is included by them). That's sad because I give a HUGE tip for good service and less if it's not up to speed. But enforcing a tip on ALL sales is really odd. I can see this for big parties. But not a group of 5. We took the desert home. It was a brownie for all of us. The brownie was not fancy restaurant style brownie. It tasted like something you'd buy at the grocery store. I'm not trying to be this critical. The food just simply didn't match a $292 meal for 5 (when one was a kids meal and one was a salad only). That's pricey for such low quality. Another interesting thing that turned weird was that during the start, a guy comes up with an SLR camera and says "can I take your picture?" By the time the meal came out, he walked up and showed us a very fancy frame with our picture in the frame. He said "you can buy this for $25". What? I mean in the 90s this was probably a cool thing. But it's 2025 where people can take a photographer grade photo with their phones now. And surely nobody would want to pay $25 for it. We chose NOT to buy it. But as I was leaving the waiter approached me and said "hey sir, did you want this picture". And I said "no thank you". I would give them 10 out of 5 on presentation and cool ways to display food. I would give them a 2 out of 5 on the food - it just didn't satisfy me. Maybe it was just the dry thin wings. But it just didn't do anything for me. I would give them a 1 out of 5 for how they price their food and how they add a tip to every ticket. I may come back. But I'll have to really think about that before doing it again. read more

Based on how Deluxe Fun Dining is advertised and the pricing I expected an elevated dining experience from the area, ambiance, food and service. However, I feel like only 2 of the 4 were met. The area is downtown Charlotte but on the edge. It looks a little run down compared to the photos. Additionally the inside of the restaurant looks a little DIY when it comes to decor. But the food was absolutely delicious! I thought the salmon Wellington was a unique and flavorful dish! The flakiness of the pastry was just right! I also really enjoyed the seafood pasta. It comes with a huge piece of steak, broccolini, steamed or fried lobster tail, and fries. It was BEYOND AMAZING! Even though it did take an HOUR for us to receive our food, it was well worth it. The steak was cooked medium well and to perfection. Seasoned right and very juicy! The lobster tail was delicious also. Tasted great. The fries were the best. Just enough crisp to them, very well seasoned and fresh! We were happy with our meal. Everything was spectacular. They brought our meal out on a board with a sparkler! They definitely put on a show. It is a bit pricey but I say a nice treat for a special occasion. As we were leaving, we noticed they had show girls dancing on the first floor, and everybody was hyped up and dancing to the music. We were told they were making their way upstairs, but since we were already heading out, we missed the show. This is located in uptown, so be mindful of parking. Extremely disappointing experience during Charlotte Restaurant Week. Our food took two and a half hours to come out. Instead of resolving the issue, we were repeatedly given appetizers to stall, offered apologies, and told it was the kitchen staff's fault. What made the situation worse was the manager repeatedly saying he was going to "crack the whip" on the kitchen staff--an inappropriate and uncomfortable comment to hear as guests. The restaurant was clearly overbooked, disorganized, and unprepared for the volume of diners. Poor management and lack of accountability completely overshadowed what was supposed to be a fun dining experience. The Brunch Menu - There are two weekend brunch menu's one is for the food ala cart and the other is what you can get for the $45 brunch. No cocktails included. Also, there is an uncharge for items that are listed on the menu as + whatever the additional cost is. Food - low level food experience. I love seasoning and I love salt, but I'm pretty sure my ankles were swollen after leaving here. The decorative experience also goes but so far. If this is a restaurant that is supposed to highlight the experience it lacked in some areas. A few of the members in our party ordered drinks that required the server to come and provide the experience for them when they served their drink. The server stood at the end of the table furthest from the people that ordered the actual drinks and lit them on fire and then passed them down. Some of the stuff just came out with like oversized birds on the board, which just takes up space it's nothing like cool about it. We ordered: Diced Pineapple (10/10) - Hit the mark! Popcorn Shrimp (4/10) - It came out in the popcorn machine and which is likely the coolest experience. The actual shrimp were over-seasoned. Like s-a-l-t-y. Lobster & Crab Dip (7/10) - The best thing we ordered. However, they can do without the cheese coating on top. It's over load when the dip by itself is superb. Shrimp & Grits (5/10) - the base (gravy) was watery and again the dish was salty. Chicken & Waffles (5/10) - The chicken was solid. Like no complaints. The waffle was too dense. 24K Chicken (7/10) - This is a dish that comes with an uncharge. Honestly they put gold foil on the chicken and give you fries and charge $24 additional dollars. Think modern New American cuisine. Also brunch is a pretty fixe menu. What you see is what you can order with no substitutions. My fault for not reading the fine print aka Reading is Fundamental . DFD specializes in avant guarde unusual but somehow familiar food items served in a way that's both interesting and appealing. Made reservations for 8pm on a Friday. Arrived 5 min til reservation and seated when were greeted. There are 2 levels and only stairs from what I observed. The space is very decorative and holiday themed, cute. I was concerned about how much space we had at a table for two but throughout the outing I felt comfortable. The service was great although our server seemed to disappear at the end of the meal. The food came out HOT!! Prices are elevated as are the dishes. I had the burger and it had great taste 5/5. I usually don't order burgers at higher end restaurants but it was worth it. The drinks come with cool presentation but I was not impressed by the simplicity of the cocktails and ingredients. 2/5 I would love to try their brunch but def worth a visit! read more

My bestie and I came here last weekend to celebrate our birthdays. It was my first time trying deluxe fun. The decor is eclectic! I like it! It was their usual decor mixed with Christmas decor and I love it! Cute for a girls outing or a date night. The only thing I would change is the variety of music. There was one song that seemed to be on repeat 90%of the time we were there. Someone finally noticed it and changed it right before we were about to leave. The service was okay. I appreciated the display of the food and drinks that came out, however, the servers weren't very energetic or enthusiastic about it so it was kind of a let down. We didn't get our birthday song like other groups in the restaurant but we learned that our waitress was new and learning. The food and drinks were delicious! We had the crab dip, the popcorn shrimp for appetizers and for our entrees had the seafood shrimp and salmon Wellington. We also got a little birthday tart to share. Yummy! The drinks were also very very good! I intend to come back to deluxe fun again. Given the pricing, it will more than likely be for a special occasion. I was pleased. read more

Went to deluxe fun dining for a birthday celebration. The service provided by Paul out waiter was impeccable. He was very attentive and helpful. Especially with us not being able to accommodate a large party during that time requested, they were able to seat us directly near each other. Paul answered our questions and offered recommendations which was helpful. The atmosphere was truly fun, exciting and fresh. Every aspect of that night was over the top, the dining experience was unusual and unmatched. Bright colors, large serving plates and platters. They aimed to please all your senses. Drinks were beautiful made, most were more on the sweet side but very pleasant and pretty on the eyes. Due to our celebration of a birthday they gave us a very good shots on the house. The shots were better than my drinks. Unfortunately in my opinion the quality of my selection missed the mark. I was very unimpressed. I ordered the Caesar salad, with the filet mignon kebab. The salad while a large portion it was just at par, not real favor to the dressing and included tomato's which I did not prefer in my Caesar salads. The beef was dry even with me requesting it be cooked rare. While that presentation was amazing it left my palate seeking more.
