Upon entering the large, spacious building, the two receptionists are very friendly, helpful, and make the client feel more comfortable. Each of the eye surgeons have Surgical Coordinators: One outstanding coordinator is Te'Mekka, who is the Surgical Coordinator, for Dr. Aleksey I. Mishulin, M.D. Ophthalmologist., better known as simply, 'Alex.' She is extremely friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and has also had eye surgeries and can indeed empathize with all clients visits for specific procedures. Dr. Alex is a warm, compassionate, fully empathic/sensitive doctor, who fully understands his patients and can calm a worry or problem which may arise during the first interview after the series of several eye tests with the latest state-of-the-art equipment. He asks several times if their should be any questions of the patient to make sure that the patient may fully understand the eye procedure involved. The Flint/Grand Blanc area should be fortunate to have Michigan Vision Institute in this area with such excellent professional and staff and eye surgeons. Follow up is excellent as well.

*** BEWARE: FRONT DESK STAFF IS UNPROFESSIONAL AND MALE EMPLOYEE IS AGGRESSIVE AND CONFRONTATIONAL…read more**** I would leave 0 stars if I could! The front desk staff is extremely unprofessional, they will continue their own personal conversations at their desk while customers are waiting in their lobby to be seen. I have attempted to call their business number for two months straight leaving multiple voicemails to schedule an appointment, they do not answer their phones during business hours and they do not return calls or messages. The employees that work their front desk are incredibly rude, they blame their lack of professionalism on personal problems that have occurred outside of work that have nothing to do with the business. The front desk staff will misquote your services, HIGHLY UNETHICAL. I was told an exam was one price and when I retuned just a few months later to schedule, the same employee told me it was $10 more than what was previously discussed. After asking the employees why I hadn't received a call back after attempting to get ahold of staff for scheduling for TWO months, the employee insisted I was lying and requested to see my cellphone call logs to prove that I had actually called their business number business. While visibly upset over the experience I was receiving from the employees at the front desk, they laughed in my face and told me to leave. While sitting in the lobby waiting to speak to the doctor that owns the practice after receiving such terrible service from the front desk staff, the staff continue to speak at me discussing their person problems out loud. Once the doctor came out to speak to me, he laughed at me while I was expressing how upset this experience made me. The doctor denied my experiences, even while having proof of my attempts at contact and the staff openly admitting to changing the pricing on me. The doctor then told me he will not continue to see me as a patient. Once the doctor dismissed me from his office, a male employee RAN AT ME with AGGRESSION while I stood in their doorway! Stating to hit him! Would not recommend to anyone that values their time, money, safety or peace! This place offers nothing of value and I left being threatened!

It took several calls and complaints to get it rectified in my insurance's company's favor and mine. This was ridiculous. I was referred to this office only because my other eye doctor was not available at the time. I wouldn't choose to go here, but I needed to be seen by another eye doctor immediately. I was not impressed by much about this place. I wasn't too happy about the referral here and have since switched back to my regular optometrist, whom I am happier with and they don't mess up insurance paperwork and co-pay invoices, either. The behavior seemed pretty unprofessional to me and the screw up was more than a little inconvenience. I shouldn't need to fix their mistakes. It was a big waste of energy.

I had a very poor experience here. First, refraction was done by someone who did not know what she…read morewas doing, as witnessed first by her poking me in the eye when she didn't realize there was no lens in the refractor, and secondly by the person who was busy taking my medical history saying "Sorry, she's just learning how to do this." I have no faith at all in my glasses prescription being correct. About 20 minutes later, the ophthalmologist came in. He briefly looked in my eyes with a scope, all the while talking very fast about his unmatched experience at cataract removal (hundreds of procedures, low infection rate, etc.) He made no remarks about whatever he saw or didn't see in my eyes, going on about how satisfied his mother was with the cataract surgery he had performed on her 12 years ago. When I expressed some hesitation about scheduling the surgery (since no one--not even him--had told me at this point that I even had cataracts, so I was kind of trying to absorb the information), he immediately began to up-sell me, offering a more expensive (out of pocket) cataract lens that would allow me to stop wearing glasses. After about 4 minutes in the room, he paused his rapid-fire monologue for breath, and I jumped in with some questions I had about dry eye and glaucoma. Rather than addressing them, he said I would have to make another appointment if I wanted to be evaluated for those, but mentioned I should start using a special eyewash before that appointment. At no point did he ask if I had questions or talk about anything but his desire to sell me a cataract operation. When I was checking out, I mentioned the special eyewash to the person waiting on me (after she had confirmed twice that I really did not want to make an immediate appointment for surgery). She took a bottle from the shelf and said, "I just started in this position so I don't actually know how to use this, but I've overheard others say to apply it twice a day and wipe it off with a dry cotton ball." When I got home, I saw that the instructions said once a day and wipe off with a wet cotton ball. My eye doctor recently closed his practice, and when I made this appointment I was looking for a new one. As you can imagine, I'm still looking.
