Update: House of optical reached out right away and offered for me to see another doctor. I also want to shout out the front desk staff. They have been super nice and helpful. Original: Office staff were very friendly and helpful. I saw Dr. Robert Feldman. Although I felt he did a good job with the exam, the entire second half of my appointment felt extremely rushed. I specifically came here because I have had issues with my glasses prescription. When I asked if we could discuss my glasses, after he said we were done, he seemed very annoyed. He did take a look however, but his annoyance continued and he made me feel very rushed and unwelcome to ask questions. This is extremely upsetting considering I looked at many reviews and had this place recommended based on a community Facebook page. I am leaving with questions and concerns that were not addressed and will now need to come back because he already was gone immediately after my appointment ended.

When I arrived, they were quite busy and I wound up waiting for approximately twenty minutes to be seen. I completely understand the wait as I came there during one of their busiest times. Once it became my turn i was greeted by a woman with unnaturally dyed red hair, and I could tell, had an already karen like attitude. She sat me down and I tried on my glasses. The first pair, we're my riding glasses. Everything was fine. I could see good. The bifocals were lined up perfectly. The second pair are my daily glasses that I wear all the time. The distance vision portion was perfectly fine, but I couldn't see a thing out of the bifocals. The woman immediately became a bit frustrated and said that all the measurements were what they were supposed to be. And she didn't understand the problem. I told her regardless, I can't see out of the glasses in their current state. Could you please check the measurements? Make sure they're right. We have to send these back. She took the glasses and went into the back room for another 10 minutes came back out and told me to try them again. I put them on and still the same issue. The bifocal portion was way too low on the lens for me to properly see out of I took them off, placed them on the table. And said, very quietly and very calmly, no I still can't see a damn thing. She then immediately began to chastise me and dress me down in front of everybody in the store about my language, and that I am never to use profanity around them and the children that were in there, there was one child. If you can call him that in the store and he was about seventeen years old. And I think he's heard worse things than somebody whisper the word damn. I am a 59-year-old man. I have never been chastised and dressed down by anybody in public that way, that was the most embarrassing thing. I think I have ever experienced. And because of this house of optical is losing a twenty five plus year customer, his wife and his children as well. The only decent thing about that place that I can tell at this time is Priscilla. She was extremely helpful, extremely polite. She took over everything from this vile woman and come to find out, figured out that my eyes were not measured properly by the technician who initially took the measurements, and that the glasses were wrong and needed to be remade. Priscilla deserves a raise. The red headed. Karen deserves a pink slip.

Wow, where do I start? My recent experience at America's Best Contacts & Eyeglasses was incredibly…read morefrustrating. The front desk employee - an older woman with white hair whose name I unfortunately didn't catch - desperately needs a lesson in respect. I don't care what your previous customer's issue was; you gave us attitude even though your office was the one that canceled one of my two appointments. My online account clearly showed the appointment as active, and it was moved to a different day without any email, phone call, or text notification whatsoever. To make matters worse, while I was there, I overheard two separate incidents where other customers were dealing with your company's inability to deliver their glasses with all the paid-for services. In both cases, your staff accused the customers of not having purchased those services, despite it clearly being documented in your computer system. Honestly, stay far away from this place. I'd rather keep using my three-year-old glasses than deal with this level of incompetence and disrespect again. Go somewhere else!

Now, as far as optometry offices go, you cant really stray to far out of the norm so you cant expect anything extravagant. HOWEVER. the office assistant did her very best and was able to squeeze me in on the only day that i could have gone. the office was very clean, and bright, and friendly. as i am genuinely a funny person, they were very appreciative of the humor i brought to the room. my favorite part was my optometrist. Dr. Scott McDowell is the friendliest eye doctor i could have asked for. he was very intelligent; not only in his field, but wherever our conversation went. i plan on not going to have an eye exam until im back in michigan next year just so i can have him as my eye doctor again. now, being a very frugal person, the only thing i did not like was the prices of most of the frames. BUT you cant expect any less from a private doctor office. I suppose to make up for it they had a 30% off sale. if i was picky enough, this would have earned them 4 stars instead of 5. again, though, i reiterate the fact that you really cant expect anything else from a private office. also, quality glasses ARE going to cost more money than inferior glasses. enough of the rant. Dr. Scott McDowell, you and your assistants are a very hard working, fun loving, educated group of individuals. and im glad that i chose your office to have my examination.

After two weeks, I dropped by to see what was up with my order and he declared snidely that he called twice and was told wrong number. I looked at the number on the paper, and it was my correct number. I said he must have dialed wrong. He says he absolutely did not dial the wrong number and insists that an older woman answered the phone and said "wrong number" both times. Very indignant. I guess I must have blacked out and decided to play pranks to delay getting my lenses. Such a shame, because the optometrists and the rest of the staff have always been amazing. My husband and I will not be back, and I will certainly tell other local people my experience. I feel sorry for anyone who has to interact with that toxic personality on the daily... my sympathies are with you.
