Sushi here isn't that great but they offer delivery till like 2-3 am. There are about 20 types of sushi, some are even baked. They charge about 7-9 dollars for 10 pieces of sushi. The concept of a late night sushi delivery is excellent. I'm not a UCSD student but I work at a hospital nearby so they delivery directly to the hospital and to my actual department in the hospital. Serious skills there. They are open 7pm-2am everyday. Perfect for late night mid terms and late night hospital workers nearby. Even got sushi delivered at 130am! Sushi is a 3.5 stars honestly. The love love sushi is awesome and the tuna is cut very well. And the Philadelphia roll kept the rice thin (which I like personally) but low on the fish but high on the Philadelphia cream cheese. So basically it seems inconsistent. The spicy tuna was done right as well. It isn't the most 5 star looking sushi but does the job at a great price. Their website is very user friendly and you just order online rather than call in (which is great for someone hearing impaired as I am). Haha, my suitemates and I loooooved ordering from this place late at night (take orders from 7pm-2pm) and they bring it right to your door (with a dollar delivery fee, if I remember correctly). It takes about 30-40 minutes for them to come though, but its the perfect thing to order when it's late at night and you've been studying for hours. The baked salmon or baked lobster roll are AMAZINGGGG. The California Roll is standard, and I don't know about the other rolls because those are the only rolls I order. Del Sushi always comes through for me... I'd say I've gotten about 15 delivery orders since I moved here a year and a half ago. The first time, I tried a baked lobster roll and some other rolls that contained raw fish. The baked lobster roll was delicious but the raw stuff was pretty gross. Ever since, I've gone through a few phases... At first, I only ordered the baked lobster roll... which, to this day, consistently hits the spot for me. In fact I'm waiting for them to deliver one to my place as I write this review (I switch it up a bit more now). After that, I went through a California roll and a Tiger Roll phase. You can't ever go wrong with those as well. So if you're ordering for the first time... makes sure you stick to these. Their miso soup used to be really good too but I stopped ordering it since it started tasting off a few orders ago. But it's still all good... they are prompt, have good customer service (they always come to my door even though it's on the 5th floor), and incredibly convenient. Man, the quality has really decreased since I last ordered delivery (about a year ago). But, I've gotta give props for the fast delivery (under half an hour? AWESOME!) and the super nice delivery man. Not many delivery services can top that so kudos to DelSushi for continuously meeting my expectations on that front. I ordered the California Roll and the Baked Dynamite because a) I'm a fattie b) I was starving and I needed to meet the $15 minimum for delivery. The baked dynamite was average and smaller than what I remembered it to be. To my disappointment, I also discovered that only one of the pieces had avocado. The rest just showed the barest signs of avocado presence. And lemme tell you, I need my avocado. But hey, it's dynamite and I love me some creamy mayo-y goodness. On to the California Roll. The rice was hard and tasted like it had been left out in the cold for a day. Yuck. I actually disliked the rice so much that I scraped out the imitation crab and avocados and ate them solo. The prices are a bit high (excuse me while I cry over my now empty wallet) but for the late night delivery options here in San Diego, it's something that I can swallow down once in a while. Now. DelSushi is extremely convenient when one happens to be craving sushi after having a bit too much to drink since they deliver. The delivery part? Awesome. They didn't take an extremely long time, but it was 1am, so I wouldn't expect it to be. Unfortunately, the convenience of the delivery is not enough to make me order from here again. My friend and I got the dynamite roll, and the shrimp tempura roll. The dynamite roll was good. Not great, but good enough to finish. The tempura roll? Very bland to the point where we hardly ate any of it. The rice stuck to my mouth and was just not very pleasant to eat. I love Del Sushi! I would recommend the Double tuna roll and Normandy Roll above all else. The baked lobster was also del-icious. They have miso soup and edamame but no nigiri or sashimi. The web-site let's you save your information so you don't have to type it all again for future orders. That's nice! The people that work there are also very friendly, delivery is free, no fee at all, so don't forget to tip your driver! Pretty much what you'd expect. Ordering online is pretty convenient, and they deliver right to your door but you have to purchase at least $15 worth of food. Selection is alright and prices are decent too, but a bit overpriced for what you get. You can't really do much better when you're craving sushi at 1am though haha. I got the Spicy Tuna Roll and the Rainbow Roll. The Rainbow Roll was smaller than it looked in the picture, but the Tuna roll was good. I didn't feel that the Rainbow Roll was as fresh as it should have been; the fish and shrimp had sort of a fishy taste. The Spicy tuna roll was good though. Oh, and they have a comments section where you can request special things for your order; great for if you have allergies or just really hate certain ingredients. Just for kicks, I asked for them to draw a tuna fish eating a rainbow on my box. When my food came, the delivery guy (very nicely) apologized that he couldn't draw it, bummer :( but at least he was polite. I was visiting a friend in San Diego, and was dying for some sushi, but was too exhausted to leave the house. I found Delsushi and gave them a try. They didn't deliver as quickly as I would have liked, however they did deliver good sushi. I ordered the firecracker roll, which was really tasty and SPICY, just how I like it. Really pleasantly surprised with this place! They have about 15 special rolls to choose from and will deliver for $2.50. There's nothing particularly fancy, but the rice, krab, avocado and sweet sauce are all solid, so whatever you order will probably turn out well. Delsushi is the best. Super nice delivery, and the food's great. I highly recommend bake lobster roll. Bake lobster roll has a great flavor, and it's a good amount for a person. Whenever I'm hungry at night, I always call delsushi. When other restaurants close at night, delsushi is opened. I mean, how could a restaurant be open from 7pm to 2am? Before I found out about delsushi, I was spending time eating terrible sushi in la jolla. Other sushi places give you a microscopic amount of sushi, and receive a large amount of money. I had just moved into a new house and looked online for delivery that night. I decided to order from here and it took nearly an hour to get to my house, which seems kind of long for something that doesn't have to go in the oven and cook. The food was also pretty mediocre. The fish wasn't fishy, or bad, but all 3 rolls I ordered were very bland, probably some of the most bland sushi I've eaten. I'm always disappointed with del sushi's food quality. I understand that it is 'fast-food' but it sometimes makes me gag. That said, I always seem to fall back on it late at night when I'm hungry. So basically, it's good if you want a late night meal, but not good at all if you're looking for a nice sushi meal. Delivery time has ranged for me to be either thirty minutes to an hour and thirty minutes. It's frustrating, but the delivery people are always nice and apolegetic so I give them credit for that. read more

So after my horrible service I looked up and found that they had 3 food handling violations upon their last inspection... holding temps, thawing methods and impoundment of their food stock.. not stuff you want when dealing with raw seafood. Secondly, after trying to phone in my order I was told "no".after mentioning difficulty with the usability of the website ordering. I was spoken to in a condescending manner and then hung up on twice... after cancelling I was told my money will not reach my account until 5 business days... completely unacceptable behavior. Found this place on Yelp, and was pleasantly surprised with their service. While their sushi is decent for the price, I was very pleased with the workers hospitality. Clearly this joint wasn't meant for dine-in, like a small pizza joint that lacks seating or any ample space, but they still had menus and even delivered to us while we waited in our car. They gave complimentary miso soups and were very amicable, despite the language barrier, or for lack of a more concise PC term, their "FOBishness". Their hospitality was so noteworthy that I tried tipping them even though I simply "dined-in", yet they insisted that it was quite alright. I did not relent, and so they obliged. My friends told me about this sushi delivery place and at first I was doubtful.... sushi delivery? I never knew such a thing exists. But I decided to try it. The website was nicely designed with pictures of every roll, which helped in the decision-making process. We ended up ordering the Baked Lobster Roll, Dragon Roll, and Shrimp Crunch roll. WOWZA!!!!! You must try this place (pick up, not delivery) at least once if you're in San Diego, if not for the cheap sushi, then for the experience of feeling like you're walking off to go get kidnapped. The kitchen (literally, only a kitchen) is located in the plaza right across from UCSD in THE MOST HIDDEN and RANDOM little shack. A friend tricked us and told us it was a normal restaurant but when we went there I thought we were going to be kidnapped and sold into slavery because of the secluded location. Not to mention they only open after 7pm. That all being said, the sushi tastes great. Slightly better quality than what you would find at one of those super cheap sushi restaurants in the area but around the same price. Never tried delivery, but from what I hear, they're pretty fast.
