I recently visited my friends who go to UCSD and we got in a bit late, around midnight. Being college kids, we were all starving around this time and so one of my friends suggested we order DelSushi. I was sold as soon as I heard delivery and sushi, two of my favorite things, especially so late at night. We ordered a spicy tuna roll, a volcano roll and a baked lobster roll. I honestly think Del Sushi has some of the best sushi in San Diego! I think it's right up there with Sushi Deli 3 in Convoy. I love that it's open super late at night because that's when I'm alway hungry. There is a minimum $15 order and $1 for delivery but somehow they didn't charge me for delivery last time :) I love love love their baked lobster roll! OMG it's SO good! This place has good sushi but they are smug and disrespectful because they are the only place that delivers late to the UCSD. They're probably also annoyed by dealing with college student and annoying requests, but guess what? That's the audience they chose and the industry they're in. The manager uses the excuse that they're busy for being disrespectful and having slow service. What to expect: - Good sushi for what it is: a delivery/pickup only place for college students. - Don't ask for anything that's not on the menu. The manager made it very clear that they would have it on the menu if they could make it so don't bother asking, it just annoys them. - You can expect to wait a while. We waited over an hour for our delivery. When I first called in, I was told there was no wait, so I ordered. I later called and was told I should be getting my order very soon. The way they prepare the sushi disgusts me. This is not a sit in restaurant but a to go sushi. Located upstairs in a more business environment, its almost like a back alley type of place. Upon entering their 1 desk office is immediately to the left, and the kitchen to the right and we had to stand outside. One of the "chef" gave me the decision to rate this one star, if there is a option for zero it would of been zero. He does not have any type of apron when he is working. As he makes the sushi rolls he continues to brush off his hands on his SHIRT and PANTS getting the crums off and kinda dab his face. At least the other guy that was working had a apron and a towel to keep it clean. So not clean at all. The guy working with the orders and making sure food is bagged seems new, its fine. But he got caught slippin also. Touching papers, debit cards, and machines, I see him sprinkling on sesame seeds or what ever the topping was on an order. disgusting. Also the table where they finish the order has like office supplies stuff right next to the orders and what not. I find that not professional. All this is right next to the entry door itself. Right across from the door is like a dirt hillside. With doors open who knows what type of dust and pick up and flow through the kitchen. These guys do not look like chefs. Its more like just trying to get the order out and make money. Horrible sanitation. If you still trust this place, that's you're problem enjoy your food. Only place I've heard of where you can order sushi online and for delivery. If you want to pick up, it's located right above the barber shop across from Dominos. Most of the baked sushi rolls are pretty similar. Very convenient for night owls who stay up studying (or partying). read more

My husband and I are really sushi addicted, this is the only place we really love in La Jolla. They don't have crazy ingredients (which is a plus for me, I dont like mayonnaise in my rolls), but the flavors they have are pure and nice, the rice is perfect, the fish is always very fresh. Couldn't survive finals week without delsushi. Their late night delivery service is just what a hard working student needs when pulling all nighters. In terms of the sushi itself, it's pretty decent. My favorites are the baked rolls, all of them are pretty good and they melt in your mouth. The only downside is that its a little too heavy and sometimes I feel like shit after finishing the whole thing. But I still keep coming back for more lol. I placed a late night delivery through postmates, I was expecting it to be almost terrible but it proved me wrong to be really delicious. 3.5 stars! i'm writing this review while enjoying my baked lobster roll :) i've recently heard about delsushi from a friend of mine who seem to be very fond of this place. the idea of ordering sushi online and late night delivery is brilliant!!! so i've always wanted to give this place a try but it didn't start till 9p.m and i just don't wanna eat so late to gain weight. then i found out that they changed their hours to 7 - 3 & since im home alone and i dont wanna go out at all, i decided to order! i ordered the baked lobster roll and dragon roll (i'm a fatass :( ). The delivery came about 40-45 mins after i place the order, which i think is pretty reasonable considering the making and driving time. i'm a fan of dragon rolls, & thats almost what i order everytime when i go to a sushi place. i dont really care for the dragon roll from delsushi cause i feel like i have had way better ones from other restaurants. The bake lobster roll, in opinion, was pretty satisfying. i feel like the rice that they use to make the rolls was kinda hard. i'm not sure if its the rice itself or because of the waiting time. overall, i do feel like i would order from delsushi again whenever i'm lazy to go out or feel like sushi at midnight! read more

I guess the best part of this place is that it's open late. I only tried the alaskan rolls. When the rolls came, they all got separated and were just scattered around the container. The rolls look almost plastic. It didn't look fresh, it looked more like it was made a day in advance and just cut up when someone orders. I honestly think the ones from the grocery store look better. So i tried the roll and it was seriously so flavorless and just not satisfying. Visiting from Hawai'i, this place was right across from our hotel, needed that late night hunger fix, decided to check them out! They are simply a pre-order/delivery kind of place, but I rolled up and ordered from them, they were very friendly, took my order and had it ready in under 10minutes! I wish Hawai'i had a place like this...hawai'i is known to have some of the best sushi eateries around, but this place really ain't to shabby for take-out sushi! As a sushi loving student, Del Sushi is a lifesaver for me. Every sushi I've tried so far has been really good. Open for online orders until 2 in the morning, Del Sushi provides a fast and filling service, which is something us students love. Plus, the sushi's are way above the expectations for "just a late night joint". For those who like to stay classic, the dragon roll, cali roll and philly roll are both cheap and good compared to other sushi places. All you have to say is DELIVERY SUSHI and whether it's good or bad I'm sold, but lucky for me it's REALLY good sushi surprisingly. Their baked rolls are all great especially because I love lobster. It cool because you can go to the store and get all sorts of Asian goodies like candies, udon noodle bowls, mochi, and various drinks that if you know they have ahead of time they also deliver if you put in a special request. Great sushi and extremely convenient after a night out or a long night studying. Friendly staff, always delivered within the hour, and good hours of operation. Perfect for students doing some late night studying and no time to cook or go out and get food. It is a little pricey with a minimum order of 15$ for delivery but the food is good (especially considering it's delivery sushi...) and overall convenient! A co-worker told me on to Del Sushi about 2 weeks ago. Since then, I've ordered 4x usually around 12 - 1AM. I work nights close to Scripps and UCSD. I've always looked for sushi but no one delivers or is open late.... until now! $15 minimum order for delivery and usually takes around 45 mins to an hour. I created a profile and it's super easy to order online. You can pay cash or by card. Prices are good and quality is on par as well. I've only gotten spicy tuna rolls and miso soup but co-workers have tried various rolls and have said good things. They only give you 1 packet of soy sauce per roll so if your like me, be sure to ask them for extra packets in the note section before you finalize your order. 5 stars for late night delivery and all of my orders have been on point! read more

Been meaning to write this review for quite some time because honestly I've never been treated so horribly by a business. I got home pretty late one night after a very long day and the only thing I wanted to eat was sushi. I found that this place was open on Yelp, so I decided to create an account and order online. I paid and everything but noticed online that it preselected pick up for me, but I wanted delivery, I was so tired. So shortly after I placed my online order I called the actual restaurant and and asked about this. I specifically said "do I need to come pick it up or will it be delivered?". A seemingly kind man told me he changed it to delivery for me and it would be on its way to me shortly. Hours pass and I still have not received my sushi. I called again, and the same employee answers and told me the driver was already on his way and I should have it soon. Okay.... maybe 20 minutes before the business closed I got a phone call from maybe a manager only to tell me that my sushi was actually never ever going to be delivered and they don't deliver where I live... this wouldn't have been an issue but why lie to a paying customer over and over again? Not just once but twice. I don't believe I ever was refunded for my purchase either. Stay away from this awful business. Clearly they do not care about paying customers at all. I decided to try this place both because of word of mouth and the yelp reviews. You can place your order online starting at 7p.m. before that the website is shut down...sort of. Anyways you place your order and pay and you select your method of getting the food pick up or delivery. Now I have only gotten delivery and it can come anywhere between a half hour after you placed the order and an hour and a half...I guess it depends on how many orders they have. Now the food is good but don't expect high quality sushi from this place. The food is good but its not the best and a lot of their rolls are stuffed with crab meat. The rolls I have gotten were good but the taste depends on how long after you order it you get it. The rolls after a half hour were good the ones that came later were not so good. read more

Service: N/A. Delivery only. I actually walked all the way to their location to see their establishment and it was literally a kitchen. There was a woman making rolls inside and that was it. I was hoping to have a place to actually order and pick up, but the woman told us to call our order in. Having been here, I feel disillusioned that the pricing would be so high. Sure, they are still cheaper than the other sushi joints, but given that they are operating on such a small location with no need for decorating, I expected dirt-cheap. We ordered the Lobster, California, and Dragon Roll. Lobster was very well done and still warm when delivered with ample amounts of meat. California was the usual fare, but the Dragon Roll did have ample amounts of unagi too. In terms of quality, this place definitely is as good if not better than the other sushi places in La Jolla. Unfortunately, the delivery was slow or they skipped us. After making the order and heading back to my apartment on campus just across the street, we called to check on our order half an hour later. They told us they were on the way and then about another half hour later, the delivery guy came knocking on our door.
