Unfortunately, at the end of the dinner, the staff accidentally threw our leftovers in the trash instead of boxing them up. What followed was a masterclass in poor service recovery. We watched the staff and waiter huddle around the computer, visibly stumped, for over 20 minutes. Finally, the owner came over and offered to comp our cheese fondue ($26) and toss in a complimentary chocolate dessert. Given that half of our expensive entrees were gone due to their negligence, we countered that discounting the ribeye and chicken by 50% would be far more appropriate. They agreed, but it then took another 30 minutes just to get the check. What bummed us out the most wasn't just the mistake, accidents happen, it was how poorly management handled it. It shouldn't have been up to the guests to negotiate fair reparations for food the restaurant literally threw away. A truly high-end establishment would have immediately remade the discarded dishes or comped the affected meals without hesitation. Instead, the owner seemed indifferent, and we left feeling deflated and exhausted/annoyed/offended by the lowball rather than excited. We won't be returning any time soon.

The individual tarts (lemon, raspberry, etc.) and cakes are beautifully designed and are appropriately sweet. The tart crusts were legit. I'll miss coming here for pastries/desserts. Maybe I'll try the bistro when it opens, but now I've found a new spot on the Cape for French patisserie and viennoiserie items.

Now it's quite underwhelming. The apricot croissant is now some smaller glorified danish that has no richness or personality. The plain croissant is quite "bready" now, whereas it used to be light and buttery. I have a sneaking suspicion that they have a different croissant supplier now. What saved this spot from a lower grade is that the pain au raisin and chausson aux pommes are passable. Also a save is that they still offer various French products, from soaps to cheeses to canned goods. I have to find a new French bakery in the area.
