I'm not surprised by all the bad reviews for Dell. Buying a new computer or electronics for most people is a huge capital investment and their is nothing more frustrating when you have laid out all that money and the company simply doesn't care. Dell is fine until something changes or goes wrong. Once they have your money, they simply don't care. Dells product is price driven, quality comes a distant second and not customer service driven at all. I spent countless hours and days on hold being deliberately passed around with no intention of helping me. It wasn't until I threatened legal action in writing that I finally got a results. By this point I refused service and demanded a refund as I felt they had no idea how to build customer confidence with service. They don't care about you or your next purchase, they don't think that far ahead. I bought my last dell a few years ago and it is clear by the comments here nothing has changed. My last couple of purchases have been lenovo brand (formally IBM), they got the customer service and quality nailed well. read more

I bought 50 plasma tv and a fax machine from Dell and they both are defective and they fixed my tv but still defective and now warranty expires. I spent at least 80 hours spoke to 20 different times with the company and I am still stuck with the defective fax machine which I can't use. Company like Dell should be closed and it's shame that they still in business to cheat people hard working money by giving them the defective products. My son always had what seemed to be a monitor problem with flickering, then got a Breakpoint exception error the last 2 weeks and realized it was the graphics card.....Had been working with Dell for over a week & the continued to pass the buck! Today - they finally admitted it was the graphics card...When I asked if I could pay to upgrade the card because it lags, they refused - this would have cost them NOTHING! I bought a Dell computer in May of 2015. I used my computer to DJ. I was having some audio problems so I called India to see about the audio settings. They could not help me. They knew nothing. They also said my computer was out of warantee since I bought it in 2014. Not true. My receipt from Staples says I bought it in May of 2015. I have a receipt but they didn't even seem to care. Then shortly after my call I started getting calls from "Dell". It really wasn't Dell...it was scam calls wanting to help me fix my computer because it was being attack by several different viruses. Kind of hard to believe since I don't go online with my computer. I called and complained. They said it wasn't their fault that there were scammers out there from all the computer companies. Yeah right. These people have all of my personal info. Sounds like an inside job to me. OMG - Talk about lack of customer service. It has been 48 days and counting since I started my service ticket on my laptop. I keep being told their technician has tried calling my but I have no messages and no missed calls. Dell is a bunch of cheaters, liars and thieves. Terrible customer service. The people on the online chat are useless other than selling you stuff. And if you want to make an exchange you have to call in to customer service. Tried calling 3 days in a row waited on hold for an hour only for them to hang on me to tell me their closed (at 9pm eastern time which is 6pm my time). I refuse to call before 5pm because ive already wasted 2 thirds of my day time minutes on my cell phone only to not get through to these asshats. OK - this is about the customer service. I am fairly satisfied with the computer (it is very touchy but it works) but I also got a Venue tablet. It worked for about 3 months then stopped. After troubleshooting with the tech department, we determined that it needed to be sent back. They sent a Fed Ex box with specific instructions on how to return it. The instructions said, BOLD AND UNDERLINED, to get a signed receipt from the Fed Ex driver. Fed Ex drivers do not do that!!! After a go 'round with the driver, I finally handed it off and called Fed Ex who said that Dell was quite mistaken so call them. And I did......first returns who said to call customer service. After a 10 minute wait I explained the issue to customer service. Dell's response?? They HUNG UP ON ME!!!! read more

Purchased a Dell Latitude E6430U laptop that Dell said had an i7 processor with 3.2 GHz speed. Laptop arrived and it really has a 2.0 GHz speed according the the computer. I call and am told that the 3.2 is the fastest it can go. Has anyone ever seen a manufacture put the fastest speeds you can overclock (and risk burning out the CPU) as the specs? This company's attitude is "we got your money now you're on your own." I was stupid enough to buy two desktops and a tablet from Dell. It took me a full year to get the desktops to network, and they did not care. I may not be the brightest computer user, but I do have two college degrees, one of which in in computer science. The tablet won't turn on or take a charge and I replaced the charger with no help. Bought a Dell XPS 8900 "Special Edition" 4 months ago. I have had numerous problems including multiple software issues with Windows 10. I paid for tech support and they have been to the house twice to replace internal parts. Dell claims the problems are with Windows 10 but they had installed Windows 10 on it when it was purchased. I keep getting the run around form tech support and have spent hours on the phone sorting things out. Talking with people in another country is now way to run a business. The Dell customer service is horrible..... : ( I purchased a Latitude 3340 and it arrived last week, but the hard drive makes this clicking/buzzing noise whenever any program runs. This is so annoying so I decided to return it, but I called the customer service support for so many times(no less than 10 times) and my call always got either no response or just got hanged up(even sometimes I had been waiting for 15 mins). So I sent them email and asked if I could have the return done online but I got a reply saying that it can only be done through phone, so I sent them second email explaining all the frustrating calls I had but never got a response since then. Their tactic when you call for support is to pass you back and forth from sales to tech service back to sales then back to tech support and on an on. Sales says "We can replace your defective computer but you have to do that through tech support. Tech support then say, "Sorry we cannot replace your defective computer." When you coplain they say, "Please talk to our supervisor" or someone else (passing the buck) and then it's back to sales. Back and forth, back and forth. I bought a new computer with a 1-year warranty. Since my old computer was still working I continued to use it for a little over a month. When I couldn't work my old computer very well anymore I took the new one out of the box and tried to boot it. It wouldn't start. Troubleshooting with a Dell tech couldn't solve the problem so I was offered a replacement. Then began the yoyo process. After two hours on the phone with all this and when the last tech support person left me on hold for 20 minutes and I determined he had cut me off I finally turned the whole thing over to my credit card dispute dept. who are now handling the matter. If you pay cash you will never see your cash again. ALWAYS USE A CC if you insist on buying from this company because I guarantee you will be contacting your dispute dept. if the product is bad. Horrendous customer service. Ordered a desktop on July 25th with an August 1 ETA. Went in to check the order status today and saw that the order had been cancelled with no notification whatsoever. The last email I have from Dell states that it's on it's way. Now I am left with no replacement for my broken work computer. AVOID DELL AT ALL COST!!!!! If I could rate "0", I would. I bought a Dell laptop 5 months ago and it has been one of the worst experiences in customer service. Besides issues when I first received the laptop which took one whole week to resolve the problems (3-5 hours per day on the phone with them repeatedly on the same issues because the issue were simply not getting resolved - customer service is in India for English speaking or Tunesia for French speaking). My Outlook keeps crashing... Dell will only fix the problem for an additional $130 or pay $240 for only ONE year warranty on the software which equals the cost of the original Microsoft software and which was neither offered or explained at time of purchase. Funny how this was not mentioned at time of purchase..... By the way, Dell had to reinstall Microsoft Outlook on my computer when it first arrived and now once again it keeps crashing. read more

After several hours of talking on the phone was able to get one part of the order delivered but thy failed to change the shipping address for the other item. Result the carrier could not deliver it. More calls even asking for a supervisor and all I got was a leave a message. I have been a loyal customer of dell and seriously never again. 6 agents 2 hours plus multiple contacts with the carrier company and zilch. Totally incompetent. After being a loyal HP customer for years with 3 working HP laptops today, I decided to try a Dell product two weeks back. I honestly did not expect to spend over 20 hours on the phone with the Dell Customer Service Department, along with other unexpected financial reproductions. The order I had placed was for a new laptop which comes with complimentary "Bose SoundTrue around-ear headphones". That equated to 2 different order numbers and 2 different shipping orders. This pair order (2 order numbers) became 4 pair orders (8 order numbers) after each pair was cancelled by the "verification - fraud department" These 2 orders (one laptop and one headset) along with 2 shipping orders were later cancelled by the Dell Verification/ Fraud Department. I called and spoke with Mohamed and Ahmed. Their only explanation was that my bank declined the charges. When asked, both Mohamed and Ahmed said they tried calling my phone number for verification. I did not receive any calls, missed calls, or voice mail messages. As a matter of fact, I had my cell phone on me at all times. I should mention that I used 3 different credits cards throughout this process and when I called the respective financial institutions, I was informed that there were no issues with the pending transactions. Please note that these pending transactions later became charges. After the 4th order cancellation, I spoke with Rency and connected her to one of the credit card companies via 3 way phone conversation. She was able to confirm my details and later called FedEx to have them proceed with the shipping order and disregard the Dell cancellation notice. Thank you very much Rency. Now she knew almost all my private info used for this 3th credit card. But she did her job. When my laptop finally arrived and I turned it on, the first message seen was: "Hard disk - Not Installed". As you can imagine, I called the Dell Customer Service Department again and asked to return the 2 packages (laptop and headset), being highly unsatisfied to say the least. I was transferred to the Dell Cancellation Department and connected to Jasse. He insisted that I call the Dell Technical Support line and have them fix the problem. I declined his offer and $50, next $80 offer and proceeded with the cancellation process. About Jasse - he don't have to much time to listen to you. You need to keep him focused to not hang up before he will start on the second order number. You don't want to lose other more than 2 hours on some phone waiting line. The laptop and headset were returned and received by Dell. However, I have to wait up to 30 days for my refund. I am also undergoing a "charge dispute" with one of the credit card that was charged by Dell. About the "charge dispute" on the second credit card for a "canceled order" by the "verification department" - MOHAMED. After your order is shipped the credit card is charged. But because you fedex was canceled before delivery and returned to Dell it is your problem to "dispute" with your card company. Dell will tell you: Credit card not charged because your order was cancelled. Also because you are on these phone waiting lines it is better if you use multiple phones at the same time. Their system will not take the first call. When I called for return, after 20 minutes, I called the same Dell phone number from a second cell phone. After other 20 minutes I was able to speak with Asis - return department using my second cell phone. The first cell phone still in waiting line after more than 3 hours... THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER !!! In summary, I think it would be beneficial for you to know about my experience and possibly share it with your friends. Sam read more

***Buyer Beware**** I had ordered Alienware Steam Machine online with the free upgrade to an I5 processor for my son on Dec 15, 2015 as a Christmas present. I placed the order and received a confirmation email stating the order was placed and went into production. I let my son know it would not be here for Christmas as the CS department at Dell had told me it would ship between Christmas and New Years. On Christmas Eve I called the CS department at Dell to check on the order and was told then that there were parts on the order that were delayed and the system would not be shipping until the New Year. I asked to speak to a Manager and was told someone would call. No one ever did. A week or so later I received a Call from Dell's Customer Resolution Team on and was told that the item I ordered was not coming due to a problem in the configuration of the system and my order would be cancelled and reordered. I asked if I would get the same deal on the new order and was told that no the only thing they could do for me was give me 5% off on any order. This would not even come close to quality of system I had ordered or the cost that I was given for the first order I had placed. Since that call I have received 2 more calls from Dell's CS resolution team offering the same deal. I will not take a deal that basically screws the customer and allows Dell to "bait and switch" their offers. This allows them to treat their customers however they feel like with no thought of repercussion or care that it is the customer that pays for the company's existence. I will never purchase from Dell either corporately or personally again they are a terrible customer service company. I have spent some time on the Dell laptop our school purchased for student use included in a cart. It is typical of most laptops in that it is compact and light. I had no issues other than downloading new software formats such a Google Chrome. It may have just been a setting issue, but it would time out quickly. The display is nice and sharp. I think this laptop will serve our students well. read more

The computer is OK but if you call customer service you will find yourself in phone menu hell. Also, Dell has a marketing site in India that tries to sell you an extended warranty and they don't understand no. They know what kind of computer you bought, when you bought it and what you paid for it. I've read other reviews and Dell ignores people's complaints about the calls. I thought maybe I just had a grumpy person, but after calling back twice and dealing with people over email, I realised that it seems to be a larger problem. The person argued with me over the phone about the features I wanted in the laptop (he told me that I was incorrect and tried to push me to buy features I knew I didn't need). I had a lady tell me my windows key was physically located on my motherboard and to no surprise, I took the laptop apart and the windows key wasn't there. They no longer carry records of windows keys? Not only this but my Alienware R-15 had significant software issues after only having it for 1.5 years. Defective computers and zero customer service. I bought a lap top off shopping Chanel. In the first 9 months it was repaired 2 times and I lost over 3 months use. The customer service staff repeatedly despite many corrections got my phone number and address wrong and in each incident blamed me and threatened to close my complaint because they did not like to deal with me via email as they just refused all requests to either replace a faulty computer or extend the warrantee. They will give you an estimated delivery date, but not deliver, and then send you an email the next day that the estimated delivery is now15 days later. If I could I would not give even one star!!!!! I purchased Samsun 65 inc UltraHD TV from Dell on Cyber Monday. I received a payment plan and extended warranty from them. The delivery date was set for 12/15/15, which was before Christmas. When the date came and TV was not delivered I called and learned that my delivery date was moved to 12/28/15. I knew that something is not right with this order after I have learned about the extended delivery. I have bought a desktop from dell in August 2009 which was of an average performance and is not why I am writing this review, what I would like to let everyone know is that when I placed the order I was misled into having the option of financing it for a small monthly payment to which I said why not. Here is why NOT! The purchase was around $1800 to which the monthly payment determined by them was $37. what they didn't tell me was that the interest rate was going to be 28% and that out of the monthly $37 almost $30 will be taken to pay the interest and only $7 will go to the principal. Now lets make a little math here, if I were to take the loan for a period of 5 Years with a 28% interest rate I would end up paying $3816 for it which is more than double its amount and will have to pay it a little over $60 a month which is ridiculous and outrageous and if was to pay the same $37 a month it will take me 8 years and a half, but guess what, when I called to find out why they are still taking money for this desktop as it has been more than 5 Years and it should be paid off, I was told that I still owe $1225 on it !! After a long discussion I asked according to their calculations, how long will it take me to pay it off, the answer I had to pull out of them was almost 20 years and will have paid almost $10000 for it !!! $3816 doesn't look so bad now !!! I am fully aware that there will be some fine print somewhere stating this ridiculous agreement but I believe that this should be in BOLD and made very clear to the consumers just like when you take a mortgage since it seems to take the same life span of one!!! Dude, don't get a Dell! A friend got me Dell laptop. it started to have errors in about 4 months of getting it. and then a line showed up then another and so on, I called Dell tech support (which obviously outsourced in India or somewhere in that area, could barely understand some of them), and sent my laptop in for repair since it still had it's warranty. And they called me and claimed that there was liquid spill damage on it and said that they will charge me 210$ to repair it. Heck no, When I know for a fact there was no such damage. I don't drink or eat near my computer's or laptops. It's always in my room on my desk it never moves, and I'm the only one who uses it. I called to make a complaint about their false allegation and get at least something done. I was tossed around 5 times over a 2 hour period trying to find someone to help me. I eventually got fed up and told them to leave the screen as is, and just check the other stuff that is covered under warranty, because I can replace the screen myself 40$. but they said no we can't do that. Brought a Dell Inspiron 15 i5559-4682SLV model from Microsoft Store Canada website in April 2016. In 3rd month Enter key popped out of the keyboard. Called support, they tell me system is registered in Microsoft name, so fill an Ownership Transfer form to transfer it to my name and that will take 10-15 days !! Only after that they will deal with keyboard repair issue. While dealing with esclating this issue, the power key stopped working. Previous laptop which was a HP Pavilion is still going strong after 9 years, except for the O/S which made it slow, but hardware quality is still great. Dell makes their laptops very cheap and in turn uses inferior quality products. A computer should not have too much down time for it to be of any use. Also, I have read numerous horror stories of machine being sent to Dell Repair Depot and coming back with other things broken. I regret not doing my research and now since it is beyond the 30 day return policy, I cannot even return this to Microsoft Store. read more

After numerous hour long calls finally confirm that the cracks will be covered by warranty and send it to them to get fixed. Bought an Inspiron 7720 one year ago....worked good up until the very last day of my warranty. The Motherboard went. Of course, at the time, I did not know it was the motherboard, I thought I had a virus. Service is unbelievably hard to get. I was told at that time that my service contract had expired, even though I still had until the end of the day but if I was to renew my contract then they could help me(I didn't). I called again about a week later to see if my dell data safe online was in tact but that information is impossible to get and again I was told that my contract had expired so no help. I had told them at that time that I thought it was probably a virus, but I was mistaken, as it was my motherboard. Since then, I have talked to them and they will not help me, they just keep transferring me to another person, and another, and another, and last they said was it was not covered because I said I thought maybe I had a virus. I asked to speak to a manager and held for about 20 minutes and then hung up. It is unfortunate that I have to buy a new computer as mine is bought for work and I work at a Senior Citizen's Lodge so all monies come out of our fund that should be for taking the seniors out and buying things for them....not replacing my computer. I thought that by buying one from Dell, I would be buying from a reputable company and therefore would have no issues if I had a problem, it would be taken care of .....apparently that was very naïve and incorrect thinking. read more
