Yes, they got my furnace up and running. But, it was highway robbery. I have used this company twice now and only in an emergency when I couldn't get any other HVAC company. Literally, not even from the suburbs. This vendor is the very last one I go with because every-time the rake me across the coals. This time I was banged almost $300 for cleaning a flame sensor. You may ask...how hard is this? Let me tell you. Often, it is 1 screw, removal of a metal prong sensor and then using a wire brush, sand paper or special cloth to clean soot off the sensor. Then re-install. The job takes all of 15 mins. 30 mins tops. To be generous it's 45 mins after arriving on-site and diagnosing. Had I been in town, I would have done this in my own. But, nope, got it busted off in my ass for being on site 35 minutes and wire brushing a metal rod the size of a paper clip. Save your money and go with anyone else but this company u less you feel like paying a kings ransom. read more

Needed to get an estimate on adding two flush valves to my Navien 95% AFUE tankless water heater (the original installer didn't know they were needed). This company is listed on Navien's website as a certified & approved service provider (1 of 4 in my area). The other 3 say they have 4 employees. This one is listed as having 30! They couldn't give me an estimate over the phone, which is kinda understandable even though I know what basically is needed. They could have at leat given a ballpark figure. But then they don't give free estimates--$89 just to come out! Again, I understand the cost of sending someone out, but they didn't offer to apply that cost towards service (which would be customary in my experience). Then, if I agreed to paying the $89 service call (for an estimate), they didn't have any availability until next week. Damn. I thought with 30 employees they'd have someone available today, or at least this week. Granted tomorrow is a holiday, but today should still be a working day. I called in the morning. Maybe they're giving the whole company time off? That's great for employees, but not for potential or current customers. One of the other companies (with only 4 employees listed) was able to come out today, and seemed very attentive, and that they want my business. read more

outSTANDING SERVIC! They have maintained our 19yearold boiler to keep on ticking without ANY upcharge repairs when doing an annual maintenance. IF you have a hot water system you want a company that hires the best of the best technicians (Jordan) to come out and service your boiler . IN the past we would just let the tec in and do the annual maintenance. Because of COVID, I wanted to know, IN-CAse-of Emergency, "HOW TO SHUT DOWN" the boiler. Jordan (tec) was more than happy to indicate which switch, which lever, which knobs to turn to the OFF position. He also took pictures of the inside of the boiler and sent via text. (social distancing we couldnt be close enough for him to show and me to see) some corrosion that is forming from general use. He was assuring, that the Boiler would continue working (not upcharging for any part, or pushing for a new Boiler) but, to be aware, there is aging going on. All my questions took time to answer. If I didnt understand exactly how the green knob verses the black knob interacted he was more than happy to re-explain. He demonstrated, Professionalism at its' BEST, Complete Knowledge of a Hot water system, Gave me the peace of mind should there be a need of an Emergency Shut Down. I will continue to use Deljo for our next Boiler purchase/Annual Maintenance and would recommend without hesitation to any owner of a Hot Water System. As a new home owner I was somewhat nervous about the maintenance visit from an unknown company. Eduardo and David of Deljo were so warm, reassuring, patient and thorough. They took care of our boiler, water heater, and radiators. The price was customer-friendly and I feel snug and taken care of going into the winter. My husband and I were so satisfied that we signed up for the Deljo cost-saving maintenance plan, not only for on-going upkeep of the heating system but also for maintenance for our mini-splits. I would give zero stars if I could. I paid Deljo $180 to come look at and service my two AC units. They told me that both units are 20 years old and needed replacing. (They did said one was may be fixable but only for a couple thousand dollars which I wouldn't want to spend on a 20 year old unit.) Then their sales guy came out and verbally quoted me about $16,000 to replace both my units. (it's now been almost a week and I still have not received the actual quote). Then my friend recommended a trustworthy HVAC guy she has used in the past so he came out yesterday to look at them. HE FIXED THEM BOTH WITH A $20 PART WITHIN 5 MINUTES OF LOOKING AT THEM. I've been a loyal customer of Deljo for almost five years. We first hired them when our condo's furnace kicked it in the middle of the winter. They couldn't replace it same-day but gave us some room heaters to get us through the night. Since that time, we've also had them replace the AC, water heater, and humidifier. All installations have been flawless and we've never had any problems. We're also enrolled in their Gold Star program which charges a monthly fee in exchange for free annual maintenance and some other benefits. They contact us when it's time for our the furnace or AC check-up and schedule a time. They've always been on-time and super helpful. We just bought a new house and I expect that we'll have to replace the furnace again soon. When that time comes, we'll definitely call Deljo. read more

Deljo may be an ok company but the problem is they are extremely overpriced. Deljo gave me a proposal to replace an existing wall furnace with an exact replacement. A replacement furnace is around $1300 with 1 hour labor to install. The proposal Deljo gave was $2900 which means a labor charge of $1600/hr! How they can get away with this is beyond me. I contacted Elite hvacs and they did the job for $1750. read more

Was a Deljo residential customer for about 10 years. Received a quote this summer for a top of the line Carrier Infinity system and a Navien tankless water heater. The system that the sales person wanted to sell me was oversized for my house and the quoted price was ridiculously high. Deljo's sales rep. was not trustworthy and not technically well experienced in HVAC. Negative 11 stars. What a rotten, rotten experience. I am not the owner of, but the proprietor of a property, and was set to meet a man from Deljo so they could run a routine monitoring. I saw him on the stoop so I said hello and he asked if I was the owner, I said no, but that it was I he would be dealing with. He wouldn't have it. He turned his back on me and got on the phone and ignored me. So I went inside to show him that yes, I actually belong inside the building, and then came back out and waited behind him, as he stood there with a phone to his ear, untalking. "Are joo waiting fo' me?" And when I went to reply to tell him yes, he would be dealing with ME, he SHOOSHED ME. Several times! And pointed at his phone! This was so horribly rude and unacceptable it was hilarious. So I laughed! Then I looked around for hidden cameras because I thought for sure this guy and his attitude could NOT be for real. He then asked what was so funny! I told him he was being rude and ridiculous and got on the phone with the home owner and he got on the phone with his company. We were just about yelling at each other on the sidewalk. Such attitude. I get along with EVERYONE. I can roll with punches and keep a level head 99% of the time, but this was just unbelievable. He then wrote on his work order slip in broken English something about "ignorant" ??????? and shoved it into the front vestibule. I am still so flabbergasted about this encounter I have that work order slip stuck on my fridge. I still think this meeting is a joke. I can't trust a company that would hire a worker that rude and unruly. I have dealt with a million contractors before, but this I just can't believe. read more

I paid full price for these guys to install a new hot water heater and a new humidifier. The pilot light on my hot water heater goes out about 10 to 20 times a year. I am constantly having them replace it, look at it, etc. I called the owner to tell them about this problem and he said he would call me back. I have left him many many messages and he fails to get back to me. And I was never told that the humidifier screen has to be replaced every year. It clogged up or something and completely flooded the floor below. Again, the owner wouldn't answer my messages. read more

** Please note that this is not a review for Deljo, but one of their technicians, Eric Frost I am writing a separate review for ALL of the problems that I have had with Deljo with regard to diagnosing a problem with my HVAC and the resulting A/C intallation. Eric Frost, Deljo technician, was called by Deljo's emergency call service after the company installed a new air conditioning unit at my residence that failed to correct the problem that I was having with my unit. Needless to say, I was extremely upset and looking for someone to resolve my problem. Enter Eric, my hero! He called me immediately after receiving a page from the call service regarding my problem. He apologized for all of the problems that I was having and promised that I would be his next stop as soon as he had finished the job he was currently working on which he estimated would be about 2 hours. True to his word, he called about 2 hours later to tell me that he was on his way and would be arriving within 30 - 40 minutes. He arrived just as communicated at 5:00 p.m. He was polite, professional and promised me that he would not leave my home until the problem was idenitifed and, if possible, resolved. Following proper protocols, he was masked, wore shoe protectors and was extremely neat/organized/considerate. He asked me to take him to my utility room where the HVAC unit was housed and to describe the issue that I had been having for the past 10 days, even after Deljo had installed a new a/c to correct the problem. He turned the unit on and immediately heard the high pitched squealing sound that I had been describing, inspected the newly installed a/c unit to view the poor installation that had been done by the Deljo installation team, and inspected the damage that they had caused both on my neighbor's patio with their extension ladder, as well as in my home. From there, he got to work. Eric fully inspected every single inch of my unit from top to bottom testing all connections, wires, pipes, mechanical components, etc. After dismantling the unit in whole, he found the problem - the HVAC motor lubricant seal had somehow become unsealed and was leaking lubricant needed for the unit to run effectively/efficiently and without squealing. Note: When I originally called Deljo for service and they sent the original technician to diagnose the problem, I told that technician that I believed it was an issue with the motor and/or fan bearing. He visually inspected the unit and ran it, but never dismantled it to determine the true cause of the problem. Rather, he recommened that I get a new a/c to correct the problem even though the a/c was running and all diagnostics showed it was blowing the correcty level of cool air. That service call cost $425 and the new a/c cost $6,518. Neither corrrected the problem!! Eric then showed me the problem and communicated that a new motor was needed to correct the problem. As he had been nothing but professional and honest, I believed him and agreed to have him install a new motor. PROBLEM FIXED - NO MORE SCREECHING!! He also recaulked a pipe and sealed the unit where it was leaking cool air from the metal cabinet that the install crew failed to do. Lastly, he installed new batteries in my thermostat because the ones in it were getting low. In total, Eric was here for 4.5 hours and did not leave my property until the problem was corrected, poor work by the install crew was corrected, everything was left as clean as when he arrived and I was happy with the work that had been done. Eric Frost is truly a gifted technician! In addition, he is professional, polite, knowledgeable, neat, clean, conisderate and a good commuicator. I am not sure if I will ever use Deljo again due my overall poor experience with all of the other facets, but I would not hesitate to call on Erik again if I had a problem with my HVAC system. If you do need service from Deljo, I would not trust anyone but Erik Frost to do the work, so definitely ask for him by name. You will not regret it. read more

He attempted to upsell me into a yearly plan but was not overly agressive and politely understood when I declined. My experience couldn't have been better. I was referred to Deljo via text from a friend as I woke up to no heat this morning. I called, got the nicest man on the phone- knew who it was that referred me and said he could have someone out between 2-4 pm the same day, the service tech showed up just before 3 pm. Nice as could be, explained all along what he found, what was wrong, what he was doing to remedy the problem. Only got charged the service fee ($89) and away he went, and I have heat- the best part! Really disappointed on an appointment for a follow up on my water heater venting. I called DelJo 4 times in setting up this app't, each time sharing more information about a water heater that the gas company could not re-light for me as it was venting more CO than was safe. I advised Del-Jo that I needed someone to fix the venting stack to the chimney as the gas company said it was blocked. I clearly said the water heater was fine. Del-Jo said they did the venting repair work and would send someone who could do that work. Del-Jo sent a young inexperienced water heater repair person. He came and after spending a good deal of time checking out the water heater, spoke with my tenant sharing that the problem was the venting. He was supposed to call me, not speak with my tenant, as I had requested. I then called as I was waiting to hear of the problem. He told me the water heater was fine, it was the venting, that he could not fix the venting but I should call another company, Ignite. I got frustrated and asked why he told me what I had already told DelJo, how I was paying $106 for them to tell me what I had told them. The worker then hung up on me and left the apartment. This happened on Friday afternoon. Monday came and no one contacted me about this issue nor contacted me to explain what they actually found in the inspection. DelJo sent me a text asking if I wanted to review the service. I texted back that the water heater guy had hung up on me and never did what I asked them to do and I never got a report for what they actually did and did they want that review? The manager then called me and apologized and said he would remove the charge from my bill. They then explained all the reasons that how they could not do the work until a chimney company came but then there was work they could do after that and how they would be happy to come back, do work and charge me again. It's now been a week and the charge is still on my bill. I used Del-Jo since the 1990s and never had a bad experience but this experience has been really awful. Purchased new HVAC/Furnace for our home from Deljo, which Deljo installed in a way that blocked access to a storage closet full of our things, which now we can not get out. They also "couldn't figure out the wiring" for the thermostat, so left it un-installed, with exposed wires coming out of our wall. Unresponsive to our follow-up requests to address either problem after more than a month, and multiple emails and calls. And, I paid for the service/maintenance package which they continue to charge my credit card for monthly, without any return phone calls! My wife and I have a new small infant, temperature drops here recently in November and of course our furnace/heat unit had failed. We called DelJo and they were extremely responsive to our not having heat and quickly provided a very competitive quote to replace and install a new system within 24-hours. The technicians, Brandon Clement and Wesley, who serviced our home were top notch, extremely knowledgeable, great communicators, friendly and respected our home..! We feel greatly satisfied with the service, products and overall value. Also they offer a 24 mos no-interest finance program to though Wells Fargo...! Great for cash-flow. We will be replacing our A/C unit soon and adding a UV air purifier. Since we are in Logan square it is great for them to have their service location/office here as well. Good stuff..! read more

Deljo takes care of our boiler that heats a three unit property here in Chicago. From the the initial post purchase inspection, to regular maintenance, to an emergency no heat call (all three apartments had no heat in the middle of a major cold snap) Deljo has always taken care of me. I will start off saying the work performed was good. But the price!! $3300 to replace a water heater. I looked up the model online at best $1500. Techs were on site 4-5hrs.(Sat in their truck for an hour waiting for parts) And lets say they charge on the high side $120hr. so there is $600 in labor plus the $1500 for the tank... so what is the other $1200 for? No invoice was sent before the charge was made. And when I called to have the invoice sent all I received was the total billed. No breakdown of the bill. And I called to dispute the bill they said there was nothing they could do. I was told "it's The cost of business in Chicago" I think they new I was between a rock and a hard place by needing a water heater. I feel taken advantage of for sure. Beware of this service. They came out to do an AC checkup on several units in my building. They charged for the service and spent time "checking" everything. They gave each owner a written report of the maintenance needed. These estimates ranged from $300-$1500. In nearly every case they recommended buying a whole new system. We had our commercial vendor check behind them and the information Deljo provided was inaccurate. Parts they claimed needed to be replaced did not need to be. They gave an estimate for a new system that was 50% higher than a different residential service and even higher than that from our commercial vendor. We compared them for service costs, reliability, honesty and replacement costs against three other suppliers and they failed on all fronts. read more

We bought a new Condo in chicago 8 months back ,the AC unit was 15 years old and poorly maintained . When our monthly bills shooted up crazy we had a serviceman come in to check and were recommended to change it . We got quotes from quite a few vendors and Deljo's rate was competetive though not the lowest. I read up on how installation is a important aspect of AC , and went with Deljo. Firstly the Sales guy Matthew was very respectful , removed shoes and entered the house which i very much appreciate and he was well spoken and did not try to sell or push us . He gave us the details and left asking us to think about it and answered all our questions and was very friendly. We had the installation done this morning and I cant stop recommending the installers Brandon and Chris. Chris worked mostly inside the unit and Brandon worked with the compressor on the roof . they were here at 7.30 am as promised and left before noon . They went about working without creating noise or disturbing us. in a single level Condo that is a commendable thing . and they were well co-ordinated and did a v good job cleaning up , laid a tarp and left no footprints in the house. Brandon spoke with me in length after the installation on upkeep , maintenance and answered my innumerable questions with a smile on his face . Had a tech come come out to my home because I had no heat for 3 days. Tech proceeds to read previous notes from last repair and says he can not do anything because it's too dangerous and difficult to fix. Charged me $109 !!!! This could have been done before someone came out instead of on-site. I ask why.. tech tells me why by reading notes from previous tech. I ask for the notes because we just purchased home and information was held from us by previous owners. The owner of Deljo Bob refused to give info, only way would being subpoenaed by a lawyer. Then I ask them to have a sales person come out to give me quote because my family is without heat. They quote me a crazy price because they knew I was desperate.... I called another company had then come the next day and install the same quoted furnace for $3000 less. Stay away from this company !! They only care about their pockets. Unfortunately I cannot recommend Deljo Heating and Cooling. They were recommended to us by our real estate agent and although they were more expensive than other companies we explored we went with them to get our furnace cleaned. We had the secondary purpose of getting a second opinion on whether or not to replace our furnace before selling our home. When you arrived Wednesday, Jordan, who was very nice and professional, likewise explained that the furnace was too old and in bad shape to service. Instead, though, he turned the furnace off, leaving me and my husband and our two children (ages 1 and 2 1/2) without heat as the temperatures at night dipped to 29 degrees. Jordan suggested I purchase some space heaters. In a panic, I called your sales line to see if we could set up someone to come in and arrange a new furnace to be installed asap. I was told over the phone that Luke would call me back in 30 minutes or less, and he called me back in an hour and a half. In that time, I had called and arranged for yet another HVAC company, Ferarro, to come and take measurements. Luke was taken aback that I went to another company, but when your heat is off for your children - a vulnerable population - time is of the essence. Ferraro came later that morning and took measurements. He also tested for CO and determined there was no leak or danger to our house. We were charged the full fee of $109 for the cleaning even though no cleaning was made. By comparison, Ascot did not charge us for the cleaning they did not conduct. By comparison as well, $109 is approximately $30 higher than any other HVAC company we inquired about a cleaning, but we went with you because our real estate agent recommended you. I have also let him know of our experience with you and I am doubtful that he would continue to recommend your services. - I need you to know that when you turn the heat off for a family of four, with two small children, you need to make it abundantly clear why that is happening. I asked multiple times if it was a direct danger, and the answer was unclear. When Ferraro came, he did not find us to be in danger. - It is not reasonable to ask people to just purchase space heaters when you turn off their heat. People do not always have the means to do so - in time or money. If you turn the heat off, it would be the moral thing to do to have a few space heaters on hand, and take them back when the new furnace has been installed. Bonus, this would also ensure that they purchase the furnace from you. - It is unfortunate that your company's policy is to charge the full service fee for a service not completed. Perhaps it saves you money in the short term, but we are currently having Ascot install our furnace because their business practice of not charging us for the cleaning, but also, having options readily available, made their company seem much more empathetic and customer-forward. In effect, because you chose to charge us the full fee for the service not completed, delayed any kind of sales options for a full hour and a half (and over the phone - how hard is it to pick up the phone), and turned off our heat without convincing reasoning, we are going with Ascot. They did not charge us the fee, they were able to arrange sales and pricing on the spot, and they did not turn off our heat and leave us with no options. When I called yesterday to arrange an installation, Brandon knew exactly who I was, what I was looking for, and he called me back literally within seconds of talking to the person on their main line. Two men from Ascot are currently installing the unit as we speak. read more

Their engineer Matthew evaluated my needs and gave me three levels of options/ choices. Installation by Alex and Rick was on time, professional and neat. These guys really know what they are doing, totally professional and enjoy their jobs. This whole organization impresses me as high-quality. Do not use Deljo Heating & Cooling! I used them to install two new furnaces, a/c units, dehumidifiers and a new hot water heater. The crew who did the installation did not want to wear masks and I had to remind them multiple times to put their masks on. Then four days after spending $20k on brand new systems I had to call them out to repair one of the furnaces because of poor installation (bad wiring connection) it would not heat my home! Deljo is pretty good. They were extremely on the spot and responsive to us during the polar vortex. Even during that frantic period, they got back to us immediately. They also recommended to us an expensive A/C system, that would not have worked out so great for us because our house has no return grilles in the top floor. I did a full walk through of the house with their salesman, nice guy, including the upstairs. I didn't know jack about returns and vents and how they work to keep the air moving through your house to keep you cool, etc., and the salesman didn't mention it, either. He may just not of noticed. Because of some surprise medical bills, we ended up luckily going with a cheaper system, anyway. One of the system installers explained to me why my upstairs was still so warm and humid, even after the vents had been opened all the way and the doors had been left closed for a couple of hours. It was because we didn't have returns and vents creating higher pressure and a better flow of air. Of course, I understand heat rises, so there will ALWAYS be a difference between an upstairs and downstairs, regardless of the AC system, but knowing that I would still have to use a window unit, even after the installation was finished and the system was running, because I had no return grilles, would've definitely factored into my initial decision, at least price-wise. Thank god we went with the cheaper option. Good enough for us. But on the plus side, they got all the work done in one day and the system they put in works just great. And we really feel that their Gold Star program pays for itself. read more

We have been paying Deljo a monthly service fee where they come out twice a year to check out our AC and Heating. This Gold Service package is also suppose to guarantee they are available to come out in an emergency. We have been signed up for this package for 2 years and the first time we have an emergency they said the can't come out until 3 days later. When I told them that is unacceptable they said they can have a technician come out late this evening but their we be a $200 after hours fee. When I mentioned we would be looking for another company because of the poor service they could care less. read more

Charlie found a part that needed replaced sooner than later was honest with me gave me the option we could replace later however I chose to do it now as I didn't want to be in the middle of the winter and then replacing the part. We had a great experience with Deljo when it came to replacing our rooftop heating and cooling unit. When Patrick came out for our estimate he was knowledgeable and communicated our various options in a very clear manner. As well, while Deljo is more closely connected with Carrier, he researched what was available from Rheem which was what we had before. In the end he found a Rheem unit that fit right on the existing connections and didn't require an adapter of any sort. The quote we received had competitive prices that were able to be locked in. On the day of the installation Bill and Wesley were on time, and got things going right away. The entire process went faster than I expected and the new unit was in place before a heatwave showed up later in the day. Bill set up the new thermostat and ran through its operation and features with us to make sure everything was running smoothly and we didn't have any additional questions. We have been paying Deljo a monthly service fee where they come out twice a year to check out our AC and Heating. This Gold Service package is also suppose to guarantee they are available to come out in an emergency. We have been signed up for this package for 2 years and the first time we have an emergency they said the can't come out until 3 days later. When I told them that is unacceptable they said they can have a technician come out late this evening but their we be a $200 after hours fee. When I mentioned we would be looking for another company because of the poor service they could care less. read more
