    Char Kway Teow

I was in Markham for an appointment that ended shortly before noon, meaning it was lunch time! We ended up at Delight Restaurant & BBQ, on Markham Road, for some Chinese food. The BBQ meats hanging in the window looked really good so I had BBQ Duck with Roast Pork over Rice. It was a generous amount of food and it tasted pretty good. The crispy skin on the pork was really good! My friend had the Char Kway Teow noodle dish and it was a huge portion of deliciousness! I had some and she still had enough to take home for another meal. It wasn't a very fancy place but it was clean and it was busy. Some customers had to share tables. With Home Depot across the parking lot, a lot of the diners appeared to be trades people, construction workers and more. Some of them had toolbelts and several wore construction boots. They all come for the good food! If you're in the area, this is a good spot for a meal! Check them out!

I was so delighted with my dine in experience at Delight Restaurant and BBQ. The menu is huge! You can find all the staples items from Hong Kong Style Cafe. I love how it is perfect for single diners. Portion is huge! Price is reasonable around $12-$15. (Before 5 pm, almost all order cones with a drink!) Baked Pork Chop with Rice ($11.99) - pork chop is thick and tender - egg fried rice based - a little heavy on the sauce - sizable portion Service is fast and friendly. Definitely recommend if looking for cheap eats in the area!

Was in the area to drop some clothes off at Plato's Closet and needed to spend an hour nearby. The restaurant was packed on a Saturday afternoon and we only waited 10 mins before getting a booth. The food portions are great for the carbs. Ordering two noodles was a bit too much for two people. The sweet and sour pork portion was a bit small. The iced lemon teas were so big compared to other restaurants. We did order the XO sauce beef stir fry noodles but they took 20 mins to come so they forgot about the XO sauce part. Overall not bad. Would recommend as a very wholesome restaurant. The ambiance was very lively.

After the food poisoning fiasco in August last year with contaminated spice in the sand ginger chicken, we decided to give the restaurant a chance to redeem themselves and we were pleasantly surprised. Delight Restaurant & BBQ is beyond expectation. Came here an hour before closing so they ran out of many of their BBQ items and ginger green onion chicken. It worked to our advantage because we ended up ordering 3 other yummy dishes instead. It came with house soup and rice. They were very reasonably priced, generous portions and delicious. Highly recommend! Choice of Any 2 Dishes 魚香茄子 - Braised Eggplant 番茄牛肉 - Fresh Tomato And Beef 蒜茸炒芥蘭 - Gai Lan with Garlic

My family and I came here on a weekday around 6pm and it was pretty busy. The restaurant has only 4 big tables that can seat about 6-8 people. The rest of the tables can only seat 4 people. They have a big menu with a wide variety of dishes. We ordered the dinner combo with a choice of 5 dishes which comes with soup and rice: beef with mushroom, sweet and sour chicken, fish fillet with sweet corn, shrimp with tomato sauce and braised fried tofu with broccoli. The portions were decent and the prices weren't bad. The food tasted great, would certainly come back again.

Luncheon Meat with Macaroni in Soup

Located at Castlemore and Markham Rd, Delight Restaurant & BBQ is your typical HK cafe. Came here for breakfast on a Saturday (breakfast ends at 11am). Their menu is pretty typical for your average HK cafe with all the staples you're familiar with. A family friend said the baked pork chop on rice was terrible though, which should have been the red flag. Service was just average. We were a party of two but they only gave us one menu even though it wasn't busy in the restaurant. They came to take our order and gave us the bill pretty quickly when asked though. My mom got the preserved pork and veggies vermicelli in soup, and I got the luncheon meat with macaroni in soup (both $8.99). I actually originally ordered the ham with macaroni in soup and the waitress repeated the order back to me, but somehow I got luncheon meat instead. Both dishes were not great, to say the least. The best part of my meal was the luncheon meat - which clearly came from a can and only lightly pan fried (there were no cooking marks or anything). The macaroni was just mushy and the soup had literally zero flavour. I couldn't even finish it because it was just a mouthful of textured water at this point. Similar thing with the vermicelli too - no flavour in the soup. We noticed a lot of other diners ordering the beef brisket noodles in soup though - maybe we should have gotten that instead. Our meals came with drinks and my mom got a hot lemon tea and I ordered the hot milk tea. For some reason my mom's drink was twice the size of mine? There just isn't any consistency with this place I guess. 1/10 wouldn't come again. Go south for 2 minutes and go to Matsuya at 16th/Markham Rd instead.

    Chinese BBQ

Under a new name and ownership, Delight Restaurant & BBQ is a nice spot for Cantonese food in the East Markham area. They serve chinese barbecue, HK diner dishes and snacks, and also classic Cantonese dishes from fried rice to protein dishes. The space looks clean and service is pretty good. We came for dinner and got the 2 dish dinner combo which comes with 2 dishes, rice and soup. Pretty cheap given rising prices in the area and the portion sizes are very generous. We got the salted fish with diced chicken and eggplant, and a satay beef. Both arrived to the table super hot and cooked well. The eggplant dish could've used more salted fish. Satay beef was good. They have a good chili oil at the table too which is actually spicy. Will be visiting again to try their other dishes.

Solid 3.5 stars. Their food is much much better than the previous establishment. Solid and simple dishes, nothing fancy, but a really great weeknight option when you're feeling too tired to make dinner but still want something somewhat like a homecooked meal. We've ordered takeout and dined in. You get a slightly larger portion when dining in. Prices are fair and decent. Definitely part of our rotation for simple eats when craving rice and Chinese dishes. They have roast pork and bbq meats - haven't tried those yet but will one day. Simple eats, definitely worth checking out.

Came here on a weekday evening and surprisingly it was busy . I only ordered the fried rice and a noodle dish, plus a pea sprouts dish. Portions are good and their pricing was not bad as well. Will definitely come back to try their other dishes, like the set menu etc. I heard their BBQ pork and duck aren't bad too, but haven't yet to try it myself

Came here for breakfast, definitely the worst experience I had. The milk tea taste like sweet water and milk. The macaroni is mushy, taste like it has been soak in water for days. The beef brisket is the best out of all, it's tender but the rice noodles is hard. The toast came as a hard rock and dry.

The space is a bit tight and a little noisy. The food is a mix of Vietnamese tapas and classic dishes. I got the milk bread and spring rolls to start. The milk bread came with this durian butter which was interesting... the bread was nothing more than a dinner roll. I love the spring rolls and perfect starter for sharing. I had the pho and it was good. The broth is nice and well seasoned, though not as fragrant as others I have had. The fried chicken and mashed potatoes were a hit, the potatoes were so creamy. The chicken rice was average, probably wouldn't order again. The menu is extensive and so much I want to try next time. Sadly the service sucked, they were so slow in giving us menu, water, taking orders. No one checked up on us, and had to flag for the bill. I would come back once more to try their other dishes.

The items that took the longest to come were the pho but this was acceptable since we weren't in a rush. The satay pho had a good kick to it and there was quite a bit of rare beef inside. Next time I would probably do a little bit of everything for their toppings. I think more noodles could have been added for a large pho but I was full. Next time I'd come to try more of their bbq items and appetizers. It's a bit of a splurge but definitely has a unique menu!

Both had long lineups around lunchtime, but I liked that this spot offers the option to pair your meats with either noodles or rice. The duck was meaty and plump, with beautifully glistening skin. The roasted pork was perfectly seasoned, featuring that addictively crisp, crackly skin. The BBQ pork was equally impressive, tender and juicy with a glossy, caramelized exterior that balanced sweet and savory flavors really well. None of the meats felt overly fatty or heavy, and when paired with steamed cabbage and your choice of noodles or rice, it made for a really satisfying meal. The vermicelli noodles were thick and chewy, and they come with a side of broth in addition to the soups. The soup itself was light with a pleasant herbal note. The noodle broth, however, had great chicken flavor but was slightly too salty for my taste, so I ended up diluting it a bit to fully enjoy it.

There has been a long debate as to left or right BBQ shop to reign supreme. I find the flavourings of HKS to suite my taste buds more. Not to say Excellent is bad but just not what I was brought up with. To each their own. The combo prices have slowly crept up over the years from the 5.99 two meal combo to the current 9.99 price point I enjoy the BBQ pork and duck as the pork has a nice meat texture with crisp skin along with the duck that is meaty and not too fatty with a nice seasoning to infuse through the meat while roasting. The shop is in a food court and if you are looking for a romantic meal for 2... this may not be your ideal destination. If you are looking for more of a HK hustle and bustle with a side attitude if you take too long to go with your meal, this is the place for you.
