They were by far one of the very best cake vendors there (and there were tons at the event). In the past 5 years my family and i ordered plenty of cakes from this bakery. They had never disappointed us until i ordered a custom 2 tier cake for a Quinceañera. I placed the order with an older gentleman and when i returned to pick it up 2 weeks later, the cake had not been baked. The staff told me that the man was the owner and he had a tendency to take orders and misplace them. They NEVER apologized or offered to bake it the same day and deliver it until I asked. It truly saddens me to write this review. I have been a customer for 14 years, getting birthday cakes for my family four times a year, plus using Delicious Cakes for special occasions many times over the years. I am sad to report that the customer service has become unbearable and the staff that is currently running the bakery need some basic skills in how to talk to other humans. I have been ordering the EXACT same cake since 2006, and the last two times I have ordered, was told what I wanted (Princess cake with buttercream) was "too sweet" and that they wouldn't do it. I had to convince them to let me order WHAT I WANTED. The attitude they all have is horrible and I sent a friend there in the Spring and they were treated so poorly they will never go back. I'm not sure what the problem is...I don't know what happened to Mindy or where she is or Mandy (who used to help us back in the day), but I will not return unless something is changed. The cake I just picked up looks sub par. For $65, I expect it to be beautiful. I asked for the "happy birthday" to be on the board the cake sits on, which is how they usually do it for us, and when I arrived, it was written on top of the cake and looks like I did it myself, which is not a good thing. I'm just so sad. My very favorite cake deserves better. Please consider listening to your long standing customers and hear us when we say we don't want to be treated rudely and we fear you will close because people are really starting to talk about how awful it is. read more

They are great. A little high but worth it. The cakes were beautifully crafted as well as delicious. So creative. I didn't have a picture but yet an idea. Niki aka the "cake pimp" as she calls herself, researched and found gorgeous pictures for my idea and the cakes were phenomenal. I did have to take off a star for the price and bc they cut it pretty close on delivery. Like 30 mins before the event. But it all worked out. I got a wedding and grooms cake for around $800. Cake served about 40-50 folks. Had just a little bit leftover but enough. But...no need to save the top layer, they give u a free one on ur one year anniversary. Haven't hit anniversary yet, but will report in July to verify. read more

While this review should be 5 star, I'm extremely upset that it's not. My wedding was 10/17 on a Sunday, just before football started. When the cake was delivered, the people who brought the cake were extremely rude. They were there all of 3 minutes and when handed the over two dozen flowers we were asked to provide, their response was "what are we supposed to do with this?". Very unprofessional. Since I was the bride, I was unable to oversee what was being done so by the reception, seeing the cake with the flowers the first time compared to what was agreed upon at the tasting and via email, I wanted to cry. Not only did not all the colors get used, but there was no greenery and no thought, just thrown on and they left. When I called today just to explain the situation, one of the guys who delivered became extremely defensive and rude. While explaining there was a difference in opinion, I was told, "timeout. First of all..." and I immediately put a stop to the conversation. If that is how customers are treated, especially the bride, I will take my business elsewhere where they treat their customers with the utmost respect and kindness. I should have done it myself. I meet the owner at an event and she was so nice and delightful. Then I tasted her pecan pie cheesecake and was glad I was sitting down. I'm not a big fan of cheesecake as usually they are too sweet or rich I can't tasted anything but sugar. I ate the entire piece of cheesecake and wanted seconds. The texture was creamy without being sticky and the pecan topping was crunchy & delicious without shocking my taste buds with an overload of syrupy sweetness. Delicious Cakes made my daughter's wedding cake this past Sat., Sept. 2, 2017. It was the talk of the wedding!! And it was delicious. Butch was so fun to work with and the cake was stunning. On one side we had each layer with a different super hero and the other side was all different sweet decorations of varied shades of pink. We purchased a turn table so everyone could see both sides. Very, very disappointed in the treatment we received from Delicious Cakes. We tried to order a custom cake topper, and after three emails and calling the store multiple times, there was zero follow through. But what is worse, each time they said they had received the order and would get back to us with an estimate, they never did. Thus leaving us waiting. And waiting. And waiting. If they didn't want to take the order they should have told us from the beginning instead of making us wait three months. Sad to say we will not be supporting this business in the future. read more

We were told that they would put our flowers on the cake at the time of delivery but they didn't. So disappointed! I ordered my mothers surprise 50th birthday cake over a month in advance. I was so excited because between me and the young girl we came up with a gorgeous design. Purple buttercream roses on the bottom tier with gold pearls in the middle of each one then a solid gold top tier with a purple plaque and gold 50. I was to bring fresh flowers that she assured me they would place on top at the time of pickup. I go pick up the cake, the entire thing is purple, and the wrong shade of purple at that. No gold except the plaque. Also the 'flowers' on the bottom tier looked nothing like flowers (everyone thought they were ruffles) or the picture the girl showed me at the consult. When I told the lady it wasn't what I ordered she immediately asked if I placed the order on the phone when I answered no she took the order form and said it matched the form. Unfortunately it did not. There were arrows pointing to the tiers specifying the colors. I then got nothing more than a cold 'sorry'. I then hold out the flowers and she just looks at me when I told her they said they would place them on the cake she came back with 'oh they said that did they?' Not a good experience in my opinion. Major lack of detail and desire to even care what was being ordered. I ordered my son's 4th birthday cake here because I wanted a special image on the cake. He wanted the black Spiderman from Spiderman 3 which I told many times that is was "black." So I got an image online and emailed to see if they could replicate. They said yes that would work. When I called I must say the woman I spoke with was completely unhelpful. I had asked what shape cake the image would fit best, no help what so ever. She really could care less about my order just by the sheer lack of interest in taking down all the details. After placing my order it was about $80, which I thought for a professional cake that was not horrible. Once I got my cake there were several things wrong. First, the image was not black it was clearly blue. I sent an image and verbally said black, not sure how much more clear I needed to be. Second, I picked an image that was specifically laid out to allow for room for the Happy Birthday on the top of the cake, instead they put on the side of the cake... Third, once we cut the cake it was not the correct filling. I was specific and asked for bavarian cream and it was just regular old frosting. My whole point of getting and paying twice as much was to have the filling in the middle. I could have saved $40 and just gone with a one layer cake had I known. At this point I can tell you I just feel disappointed and taken advantage of because I paid top dollar for a professional cake and received grocery store quality service. I did try calling them to notify of my negative experience and let them know the cake was not correct. I had to explain myself to 2 different people after asking to speak to a manager or owner. They did not try and rectify anything or even say I am sorry for your experience. It was, "well the picture kind of looked blue" nothing was even mentioned about the filling being incorrect. All that was said was, " I will let the manager know" Hello, I have been trying to tell the "manager" the first time I called. That lady said, "Ill have the manager call you" No that did not happen, I had to re-explain to another person who said "Ill tell the manager"... Oh just forget it really at this point. My family and I have purchased at least 8 different cakes from Delicious Cakes (Addison) in the past and they all turned out great. Until January of 2013, when I went into their location and ordered a 2 tiered, "masquerade" theme cake for my niece's birthday party. A nice man took my order and I paid the "deposit". The day of the party I went to pick up the cake and found out the man who took my order was the OWNER and he never gave the order to the baking team, so my cake had not been baked! The girl I spoke to was not sympathetic nor did she apologize as much as she should have. They managed to bake a very disappointing cake in time for the party and delivered it. I placed an order for a custom cake to be delivered on 9/8/15 between the hours of 10 am and 10:30 am. The event was scheduled to take place at noon. At 9 am, I received a call asking what time the event was to take place and when I needed the cake delivered. I let them know that it was on my order form, but that the cake was to be delivered between 10 and 10:30. They stated that they had someone out on delivery and that the cake would be delivered between 11 and 11:15, would that be acceptable. I told them yes and reiterated that the event was scheduled for 12. At 11:45 I called to check on the drivers status and was told they were finishing the cake and would be here at 12:15. At 12:25, the cake had still not arrived, so I called again and they informed me the driver had rushed and the cake was messed up so she returned to the store to fix the cake. At 12:50, the cake was still not here, but they told me that they would be here by about 1:15. The cake arrived at 1:47. Remember, this event, which was a farewell to our CEO and being attended by 800+ employees, was supposed to take place at noon. I do not know how the cake looked or tasted because at 1:40, I called to cancel the order since the party was over. It is now after 5:30 and I am still waiting to hear back from the owners who were out delivering other people's cakes. I sure hope they had a better experience than I did. read more

We used delicious cakes for our wedding and the cakes were superb. A few months before the big day, we called and were invited to taste cakes and icing later that day. They clearly do a lot of events as the tasting was well organized with multiple cake, icing and filling options to try. We were a little hesitant to pay so much for cake, but they were willing to negotiate and made a less expensive cake by making little changes like excluding fondant (which we think is gross anyways). On the wedding day, the cakes arrived on time as promised. Their artistic design was exactly what we had discussed. We only had a taste at the reception but they were SO GOOD. We had carrot, chocolate and lemon cakes and all of them were moist & delicious. They also promise to make a fresh small cake for your 1st anniversary so you don't have to eat freezer-burned cake! (We moved away so we didn't get to take advantage of this perk, but it sounds nice.) I would highly recommend delicious cakes based on our experience. read more

They forgot the Groom's Cake !!!!!! My daughter got married in the DFW area on NYE 2015 (12.31.2015) at a beautiful wedding venue just north of Dallas. Butch, the owner delivered and set-up the Bride's cake at the venue at approx. 5:30 PM for a 8:00 PM wedding, no problem. Around 6:15 PM the wedding coordinator noticed that the Groom's cake hadn't been delivered. She assumed that it was placed in the refrigerator since it was a Boston Cream Pie/Cake with the Dallas Cowboy Star on top. She called Delicious Cakes 4x between 6:22 PM and 7:00PM. When Butch finally returned her call, she was told that the cake order was only for the Bride's cake. She corrected him in saying $1100 was paid for the set-up and delivery for two cakes. She asked if he could go back to the bakery and pick up ANY cake , then we could settle the issue later with the bride. Butch said that it was too late in the day and nothing could be done. We ended up running to Central Market that evening to get a large sheet cake as a replacement. By Saturday, Jan 2, 2016, Delicious Cakes realized that they made an error with the cake order. I spoke with Nicki and she was very apologetic and said that this was on the 2nd time this had happened in 28 years of business. We requested at least a 50% refund, since only the Bridal cake was delivered. Butch said that he would only reimburse $290 which is cost of Groom's cake. To add insult to injury, Butch stated that "I'm not reimbursing her for pain & suffering." The $290 reimbursement was to be mailed on Monday, 1/4/2016, however it has not yet been received. I feel horrible, because I recommended Delicious Cakes! The company I work for has used them several times in the past for Corporate Events and I have personally ordered cakes for my Father's 65th birthday and my Son's 21st birthday. It appears from other recent reviews that there has been a decline in customer service and business acumen. read more

The only reason I'm giving them two stars instead of three is that the cake was delicious, but.... We had extensive conversations with them both when we ordered and after. We also had confirmation emails just three days before the wedding. They were supposed to decorate the semi-naked cake with fruit and our cake topper when they delivered it to the venue. This was what their recommendation when we ordered. When they delivered it, the delivery person to the event manager that they "just deliver cakes, not decorate them." Luckily the event manager stepped in and did her best even though it wasn't her job. She really saved the day. When I called Delicious Cakes to find out what happened, the owner didn't even apologize in any way until he was about to hang up. It was a throwaway statement at the last minute that didn't have an ounce of sincerity. He said that he was going to check with the delivery person and call me back. They ran a special on CBS Local FInds and we were having a family birthday party for my son, so I thought I'd try them out. Wow! They suggested the double chocolate flavor for my son and I asked about putting pudding in the cake as I'd found it made them more moist. They said they could do bavarian cream. It was just a 9" round cake, but OMG was it dense and there was soooo much cake. It was so moist, everyone loved it! They put a sugar sheet on top of an X Box controller and we had to cut it in such a way that my lil' guy could get the "X" on the cake. I wanted to make it as special as possible and they suggested clear sugar confetti. It made the cake shimmer and seem dreamy. Was great for the pix! This cake was so good. Can't wait to use them for some of their grown up flavors, as well. :) Just about the transaction... I got that coupon deal in my e-mail, read all the stipulations before I bought it and then bought it. I then got something from CBS Local Finds saying that they would send me the voucher once the deal was over which was beyond my son's birthday party. I wrote them and asked what to do. No response. I called, ordered the cake, and they told me it'd be $50 and I'd need to put 1/2 down. I told them I had the coupon and she said hold on, I'll have to ask my manager. Seemed to have a smidge of a tone there. She came back and said that'd be fine and she'd see me tmrw. Since I wanted the XBox picture on it, they said I'd need to e-mail them the picture. I did. I got a response saying I can't order online, I'd need to call. I wrote back saying what I was doing and was confused. They sent me an e-mail back saying it was an automated response and they'd have my cake ready for me. The party was at 7, so I wanted to pick up the cake at 6. They close at 6, so put it down for 5:30. I ended up on that part of town earlier in the day than I thought, so I went by at 3:30. It was ready and beautiful! I showed her the e-mail on my phone that said I'd purchased the voucher. She asked if I printed it out. I told her it didn't say to, so that's all I had with me. She went back and talked to someone in an office and came back and gave me the cake. The next day I hear back from CBS Local Deals (48 hrs after they promised a 24 hr window) and said there was nothing they could do, how did I want to proceed. They have amazing, moist cakes. This and The Cake Guys are my favorite birthday cake vendors in Dallas. I am admittedly a HUGE cake snob and I have had numerous people tell me to use their people, but I have yet to find anyone who compares to Delicious Cakes or the Cake Guys. I would definitely not recommend Delicious Cakes to anyone! The employees are extremely unprofessional, unhelpful, and just plain rude. Delicious Cakes is also not accredited with the Better Business Bureau which should be a red flag as well. My husband and I ordered both the brides and grooms cakes through Butch at the Delicious Cakes Addison. Upon our initial meeting we felt rushed to choose a design but were satisfied with our selections after our approximately hour long meeting. We checked in periodically with Delicious Cakes and Butch to ensure we still liked our agreed upon design. Three weeks to one month before our wedding date, I provided Butch with $50 in faux pearls, 200 inches in length, I also provided double faced satin ribbon for the brides cake per our agreed upon design. Yes, everything has been going smoothly for the most part at this time. Fast forward to our wedding day; when my new husband and I walked up to our cake and the brides design is nothing like the previously agreed upon look. The beautiful faux pearls have been replaced by Mardi-Gras looking dress-up beads, giving the whole cake a very cheap look. We cut the cakes and cake was served, the next day we learned that not only did my groom and I not receive cake but many of the wedding guests didn't either. Many of our family members and the wedding party did not eat cake. We did think this was strange but didn't pay very much attention to it, until two months after the wedding, I find out from my mom and sister that the brides cake had been in a traffic wreck on its way to the reception site!!!! Neither Butch nor any one else from Delicious Cakes contacted us after the wedding to notify us of the cake being destroyed. I do agree with the company's decision to keep the cake disaster from the bride on her wedding day and even on the honeymoon, but Butch had three ways to contact me, email, cell phone, and home phone, there was no message. After finding out about the cake having been in a wreck, I immediately went to Delicious Cakes to question them about their reasons for not contacting me, they had many excuses, one of them being, "we told the wedding planner to tell you." That is not acceptable for a company representative to say - these are grownups! It is not the wedding planners responsibility to tell me about their mess up. Anyway, I questioned Butch about the pearls and why so much cake was missing. We paid for 208 pieces of cake (white and groom cake both), less than 140 people came to our wedding, we should have had plenty of cake, maybe even some leftovers! When this point was brought to Butch's attention, he argued that a venue that hosts 125 - 150 weddings per year did not cut the cake according to Wilton's cake serving chart. I have a extremely difficult time believing this. To quell our complaints we were offered a $40 refund for the pearls and a certificate for a free cake for a second event, Butch assured me these items were coming in the mail. As of today, almost ten months after our wedding, we have yet to receive our check or certificate. This gesture does not redeem Delicious Cakes in the least, it further displays their lack of responsibility and customer service. Two months after our wedding, I contacted the Better Business Bureau to report Delicious Cakes, since DC is not registered with the BBB, they were unable to help me. I will attach my BBB complaint at the end of this review as a URL. I feel that adequate time has been given to Delicious Cakes to remedy this situation, we expressed we would like to be reimbursed for the "missing" pieces of cake as well as the unused pearls - no effort has been made by the company to do this. We were doing a first birthday cake with some cute images. She said she can do it all for $150. We stayed in touch with her over email. And she would never respond, she had a 'messenger' Nikki, who is EXTREMELY RUDE AND SASSY!! After a couple weeks, I went back to complete my order, not a single person knew what I was talking about, they were rummaging for my order details. I finally compeleted my order, and called Nikki this morning to talk about tiers on the cake. She rudely commented that she had 'redesigned' the cake for me, and she cant take any more changes (fair enough! ), but with this horrible of a customer service, I don't see anyone being satisfied. So we finalized the order, and I did tell her the truth about how their website is not so 'expressive' when it comes to specialty cakes (they have a good variety on their wedding cakes). Unlike some other companies in town. She apparently could not take critical feedback, and called back within an hour and cancelled my order (said she will refund my money, hope she does!). A few days before the party!! She called back and said she cannot do what she had committed to herself! I think the entire team needs to stay organized, communication clean, and a CLEAN MOUTH. I hope no ONE ever steps into this store ever again, for how arrogant and bitchy they are. First off, they made a mistake in telling me that they can DO IT ALL, now they BACK OUT. Very unprofessional and dis-organized, not an inkling of etiquette that a cake store should have. We have dealt with several top notch Dallas cake store (mostly family owned in the past). Last month I pre-ordered and paid for a cake for my in-laws' 50th wedding anniversary. I ordered via phone and didn't really know exactly what I wanted. The woman who took my order was extremely helpful and gave me some excellent choices for decoration. I ordered the orange marmalade with buttercream frosting. On Friday I picked up the cake and it was beautiful! Although the store was busy, Jarrod came from the back and helped me immediately. He was very courteous and professional. I liked that you could see the bakers making the cakes in the back of the store. The cake was a huge success at the party, and was moist and flavorful. I had my wedding earlier this year and Delicious Cakes did both my bride and groom's cake. From beginning to end this place was amazing. We had a great time at our tasting. It was the only place we went to that didn't look down on us because we didn't have a huge budget. In fact, the owner was so amazing that when the cake we wanted was way over budget, he went ahead and did both cakes for what we had originally budgeted for one. When the wedding day came around I was not disappointed at all. It looked beyond amazing and far exceeding my expectations. All of my guests were in love with the cake and were asking where it came from. I will never go to another bakery. I love this place. This place is owned by a bunch of crooks. We ordered 2 face cakes for my husband's 30th birthday party, and we were given inedible cakes. They were dry and dense. When we called to get a refund, the managers were never available nor did they ever return our MULTIPLE calls. When you pay over 100$ for a cake, you expect good customer service and the decency of the company to assuage a situation when a product is given, not as it was presented. I ordered a cake from them for my wedding. A large man, the owner it seemed, came out to consult with us and provided our tasting. After going around town trying many different cakes, they definitely had the best cake. The consult was also a success; not pushy, super friendly, great sketching abilities.... I provided a picture of the cake I wanted (a white cake with magnolia sugar paste flowers on it -- very popular on Pinterest... go find it and see what I mean). We also wanted a Rugby ball grooms cake of which the guy showed us a pic of a cake he made to replicate a dirty rugby ball and gloated about how awesome it was and that ours would be the same.... WELL we ended up with a cake with texture, REAL small flowers that did not resemble anything like the sketched out flowers, OR the picture I provided, and the ruby cake looked like a cartoon cake, and nothing about it was dirty like the cake he showed us. The contract specifically called for sugar paste flowers, and they charged us accordingly too! So, I am not sure where the confusion was. I think they delivered the wrong cake. When I called to get our money back, the woman said (after requesting a photo) "OH, look at that. OK, I will refund you". No apologies, not explanation... I was disappointed to say the least. I loved everything about my wedding cake until my wedding day. I bought beautiful topper for our cake. We even had it painted to match everything. Butch said that he would have them put a support in the cake to hold the topper because it was kind of heavy. Sure no worries. I went in when I was suppose to and dropped off my ribbon. I paid on time and there were no problems on our end. Then on my wedding day I got to take a first look. I didn't cry because there was nothing I could do. But I was mad. The design on the cake did not match the color of the ribbon that I gave them. Two different colors of pink! It looks like a 4yr old made the cake. I moved on it was too late. When they were setting the cake up with our topper before the reception, our topper sank in to the cake. The support was not there. The topper fell breaking our heads off. Now our amazing topper was broke and we had a huge hole in the top of the cake. After the honeymoon we called to let them know how upset we were that we paid so much and got a horrible wedding cake that we did not order. They got back to us and said it was perfect and not their fault but to make it up to us they made me my birthday cake. Well it was a nice birthday cake but nothing that I wanted.
