I am originally from downtown Los Angeles where you can find a panaderia every few blocks! I was so happy to stumble upon Delicias! For a moment I felt like I was at home. They have all the panes you would imagine like conchas, quesadillas, bolio, and more panes dulce. Very friendly owner and fresh bread!

I was looking for a Rosca de Reyes this morning... I went to Cardenas and it was a mad house. Then I went to La Peña, but it was completely closed! So I searched yelp and found this place. I gave them a call and, sure enough, they had roscas! I must admit I was a bit skeptical about this bakery, but I had no other options. I got there and they had plenty of Roscas in three different sizes. I purchased a small and a medium. The large roscas were huge! We rushed home to cut the rosca and I was pleasantly surprised by the amazing taste of it! The bread was soft, moist and just delicious!! I will definitely return next year for our Rosca de Reyes.

Stumbled on this place today and stopped in to check it out, not really intending to buy anything because we'd just eaten at El Farolito and were pretty stuffed. I'm glad I stopped in. they have an entire case filled with various baked goods; assorted cookies, sweet breads, donuts and the like. It's a self serve case so pick up a tray and a pair of tongs and help yourself. The second I opened the case I was engulfed in the most amazing smell, everything was clearly fresh and made on premise. We got four small cookies, two large cookies and a ginger bred for a grand total of $3.65! Got home and immediately ate two of the cookies. Delicious! Soft, buttery, not too sweet...perfect.

The pan dulce was good. The cafe de la olla was mediocre. Staff was okay. I'll be back for a sweet tooth fixing.

It was great! They have a variety of pan dulce to choose from. The bread tastes good and their cakes.

La Farine Bakery - Lemon shortbread (similar to the yummy edges of a lemon bar)

There are glass cases full of breads, cakes, eclairs, tarts and other delicious looking baked goods. On the top of the cases are jars with a variety of cookies to choose from, as well as, one of my favorites, their lemon shortbread bar. The lemon shortbread bar is amazing. They stack the wedges in a large lidded glass jar, each wedge separated with a sheet of white parchment paper. I believe this is one of the hidden gems at La Farine. The shortbread crust Is tender and buttery and hold holds it shape well when you bite into it. The lemon curd is creamy with the right amount of tang, and there is a thin sweet layer of crunch on top of curd that puts this bar over the top. The balance of textures and flavors is perfect. I also highly recommend the chocolate eclairs. Each one is filled with a generous amount of piped whipped cream, a pate choux with good flavor and texture, and topped with a rich, silky layer of chocolate ganache. Overall their prices are reasonable -lemon shortbread bar $3, and chocolate eclair 3.50. I decided to give La Farine four stars because on a previous visit I had a slice of the Moka cake, and was not impressed. It is an attractive and delicious looking cake with lovely pale moka colored frosting surrounding layers of dark chocolate cake, however, the frosting lacked the coffee and chocolate flavor combo that I was looking forward to, and sadly the frosting was more waxy than creamy. That being said, I will definitely be back to search for the next delicious gems at this very lovely bakery on Piedmont Ave.

Arizmendi Bakery - Organic sourdough thin-crust pizza of the day

Arizmendi is my absolute FAVORITE. I've been coming here for about 20 years and will continue to…read morefor as long as I am capable. Sometimes, the pizzas are a little overcooked which causes the crust to be extra crispy and a little burnt. But it doesn't change the deliciousness of it. It doesn't matter what they put on the pizza of the day, I know it's going to be tasty. Arizmendi's pizza 100% makes me forget about meat on pizza. I have tried a couple of their baked goods, which have always been good as well. They also have soups of the day, which I surprisingly haven't tried. If you're ordering more than 1 pizza, I'd recommend calling ahead of time so that you don't have to wait a while. There's typically 2 cashiers, always a small line, but you'd be in and out under 30 minutes max. No music, just the sounds of pure hustle trying to get everyone served. There is limited indoor and outdoor seating so keep that in mind. Parking may be tricky as well as there are a lot of surrounding businesses.

One challenge of coming here that came up today is that people are often stationed near the…read morecrosswalk or in front of the restaurant asking for signatures for various causes. Everyone has causes they care about, and many of us do our own advocacy in different ways, but not everyone wants to sign petitions while trying to cross the street or grab lunch. Today, one person became very insistent when I politely declined. He then accused me (and apparently others) of not wanting to engage because of his skin color, which was completely inappropriate and inaccurate. My decision had nothing to do with our skin .. I simply was not interested in signing anything or stopping to discuss a petition at that moment. It escalated to the point where two other women nearby also felt uncomfortable enough to respond. One said, "This is not the way to do it," and another said, "I don't even have money." It was unfortunate that his approach put people in that position. Just a heads up for anyone visiting: be prepared to be approached at the crosswalk, especially since the light can be long. On a positive note: the pizzeria itself was busy, but everyone inside was pleasant, I found a quiet corner to sit, the coffee was warm, and my $3 slice and $1.25 coffee hit the spot.
