I went to Delicia with a friend during devour indy and had a great experience. We made a reservation and were sat immediately and received outstanding service. Our server was well versed in the menu and was able to answer all our questions. The food we received was really A1. We both enjoyed the flautas for our first course. Then I ordered their rendition of jerk-chicken and my friend ordered the pork pupusas. I liked my dish but not as much as I liked the pork pupusas. I told another friend about my great experience and we visited on her birthday. I was underwhelmed. The harvest salad was more carrots than greens and was supposedly "shareable" but it truly wasn't. It was a appetizing salad just not enough to share with 3 people. I really talked up the pork pupusas to my friend so we all ordered and they came out looking the same as my first experience but not tasting like that. These pupusas were so salty. I didn't finish mine because I just couldn't make it work. I wasn't going to complain but I'd love some consistency in the eating experience. They had a great date/dimly lit dining room. I ended up ordering the fish tacos, which weren't bad but I would have ordered something different if they had chicken options or vegetarian. Went in for dinner yesterday with my husband and the food was so good!! He had made reservations for 8pm, but went in a couple minutes prior and they were able to seat us. The seats were pretty much all filled. Good ambiance going and the interior decor is so Latin inspired with a twist. We ordered some Cafe de olla to start (hubby got it with an orange liqueur shot) and it was so good! I tried drinking the coffee straight from the cup, but it had a weird sour taste to it once I put my lips on it. I continued to use the straw provided. Our dinner was delicious!!! Hubby is a 6'1 man, so he wasn't really full after dinner, but my Cazuela was enough for both of us. Very filling and tasty. Love the bread to eat and enjoy the delicious broth. Love this Latin inspired restaurant! Very cute decor/vibes and the food is always great! For starters we got the queso fundido and guacamole. Both had great flavor. I've been here twice for dinner and twice for brunch. Love the spot and service is always great. We had a friend in town from out of the country so we thought this might be a good spot for brunch ! We started with the ceviche appetizer as well as the queso fundido. Both delicious but I preferred the ceviche. I had the breakfast burrito and added avocado. The burrito was huge and I took home the second half for a snack before dinner. The potatoes on the side were cooked perfectly! Delicia stands up to its name! It was absolutely delicious. Our waitress, Taylor, was super attentive and nice, she gave us her recommendations and knew all the answers to our questions. She was wonderful. The vibes were cozy and modern. For appetizers, we went with a group and had the queso fundido, the guacamole, and the ceviche. The queso was the star of the show, it was super unique and flavorful. The ceviche could've had more flavor, but we still loved it. The cocktails were different than I've ever had, and we loved them. I got the papaya daiquiri and it was fruity and yummy. We also tried the fire n ice and it was perfect for someone who likes spicy drinks. The Ambiance of this restaurant makes you feel like you are not in Indy... 5/5 for the feel here. I loved the fire and ice drink. Balanced with a spicy finish. We had the queso and octopus to start. Both were good but you can't lose with cheese to start and it was the favorite. The octopus was served with a warm potato "salad" which was just pretty round molded cheesy potatoes. The octopus was cooked beautifully. I had the jerk chicken by recommendation of the server. I loved the rice, verde sauce and plantains. My fried piece was greasy and that overpowered the flavoring. My husband had the short ribs and had no complaints there. One of my daughters had the enchiladas (duck) and it was her first time having duck. She practically licked her plate clean. It came with a side of black beans which were a nice addition. My other daughter had the empanadas. She really enjoyed them but wasn't a fan of the cilantro(?) rice. We LOVE Delicia and usually go a few times a year. This time we went with 2 other couples. The ambiance and service was wonderful as usual! The Caribbean Old Fashioned was delicious. The chips and guacamole and salsa trio were great. I was a little bummed the menu had changed and the wonderful steak dish and Mahi dish they have had for the last few years were no longer options. Then I got excited to try something new flavors and combinations, but we were VERY disappointed. I got the Curried Coconut Grouper. The sauce was tasty, but the fish was not prepared very well. It seemed dry, very fishy, and over cooked. It did not taste very good, and the rice was underdone. My husband got the new Lomo Saltado, but said it was not very good. Instead of a nice medium rare steak it was kind of like shredded steak and was more like poutine. I'm not sure if there is a new chef or something else has change. My mom has been wanting to try Delicia and what a better day to do it than on Mother's Day! We had a reservation originally for 7:10pm but we arrived early and they were able to sit us down. The ambiance is really nice, low lights, clean, and the seats are comfortable (at least the booth sides). I ordered the empanadas and they were actually amazing. The meat literally melts in your mouth, the sauce has a really nice taste, and the rice was also a nice surprise and citrusy. My mom goes the chile relleno and thought it was also really good. Hard to notice but have to try! I've been living in Indianapolis for the past year and a half. I've passed by Delicia multiple times, always thinking "I wonder what that place is". Finally, I looked it up online and because of its Latin food, had to try. First thing that is quite noticeable is the beautiful decor. It's trendy and fashionable while still giving a swanky vibe. There were all different types of people there. On the cantina side, happy hours and young professionals. On the restaurant side, there were families, singles, and couples. The drinks are great. The smoke & stone was my favorite! I saw that many people had tried the fire n ice, so I got one and while it was delicious it was definitely spicy and very tart. My friend got the American matador which was also a little too tart for my palate, but it was beautiful and had great flavor. We really went all out on the food: got the octopus and ceviche appetizer "para picar". We got the carne asada and the pork belly as well. I like that they switch up the menu seasonally. Delicia is phenomenal. Not only is the atmosphere perfect for a celebration or date night out, but the people are warm and the food is phenomenal. I first drank a pisco sour in Chile where it's a very common drink (bordering Peru where pisco is from). They were so good. I've never ordered one in the US, let alone even seen pisco on a menu. However, I can confirm a pisco sour at Delicia is just as good as in Chile The red mole pork cheeks were so tender and tasty. A little spicy, with a lot of mole sauce. Visited Delicia with two girlfriends for my birthday one weekend eve. We made reservations through Resy which I highly recommend, as it's not a large restaurant and gets busy fast. I was seated promptly as soon as I arrived and waited for my friends. The decor has remained consistent since opening here, which isn't a bad thing! I love the open concept dining space and modern, cozy feel. The dining room tables/booths sit parallel to the large bar area. As I waited, the server offered to bring me a drink and confirmed we were there to celebrate a birthday. She was quite attentive and friendly throughout our visit. We ordered a mushroom appetizer (that we saw on the table next to us). along with chips and guac, then entrees and drinks which were all served promptly. The mushroom appetizer was amazing! Glad the couple next to us extolled it's virtues. I also appreciate that Delicia always has at least one vegan option and several other vegetarian choices. I chose the Trinidadian curry with shrimp, one friend had fish tacos and the other chose a fish entree special. We all agreed that the food was delicious, beautifully presented and unique. One friend brought in a carrot cake from it outside bakery. The server was gracious enough to plate and serve it for a small cutting fee and we were able to visit a bit after dinner. We had an excellent dinner with four different dishes that were all highly enjoyed. The Mahi looked amazing and the Empanadas were nicely elevated. Salsa and guacamole were also excellent. We sat in the section to the left as you walk in the door, an area that used to be a separate bar. It was a great place to sit both a little quieter than the main room and a little brighter. !!!! Wow. Wow, wow, wow. Latin/Caribbean fusion and insanely good. I had the Walleye and a jalapeño infused tequila marg. The Walleye was superbly cooked, super crispy on one side as if there was still skin and super soft, flakey, and tender everywhere else. The spring onion salsa and capers on top were so complimentary and to die for. The patatas bravas with arugula and garlic aoili were the icing on the cake. Kudos to the recommendation from our server on this dish. My mom and bro both had the empanada, and I tried it... wow. STUPID GOOD. Out of this world. My dad had the short rib dish and thoroughly enjoyed it. All around amazing experience. Churros to top off the night. 1000% recommend. Oh wow, how has it been 7 years since I first reviewed Delicia? Anyway, definitely time for an update! I had an absolutely delightful dinner here with friends last week on a cold rainy, icy, snowy night. For any reading this who are not Hoosiers, yes, we can get all 3 within an hour or so...we had a 6:30 reservation and were seated right away. I had to get a Fire and Ice cocktail; I thought about trying something different, but this is a favorite of mine and it seemed perfect for the weather! If you haven't tried this it's like a slightly spicy margarita; the rim is coated with a mix that includes chili powder which I absolutely love, but obviously this wouldn't be a good choice for anyone who doesn't like a little heat. We started with the queso fundito with chorizo which was outstanding. Our server recommended it and he did not steer us wrong. It was delicious and a very generous portion that worked well for the three of us. We also shared an order of guacamole which was delicious as well. For my entree, I had the smoked pork pupusas which were so good! The version they make here featured a very generous portion of smoked carnitas piled on the pupusas rather than just filling them. The pork was tender and incredibly flavorful. The slaw and sweet plantains complimented nicely. Service was excellent and everyone was friendly and in a good mood. It really was a perfect evening out! They were busy, but not totally packed on a Thursday night, but I'm guessing the weather probably kept some away, so I would definitely suggest making a reservation. Parking is available in lots in front of and behind the restaurant, but there's also a lot of street parking. Pro tip for anyone from out of town...if you're coming south on College you can't turn left into the lot due to the red line, but you can make a U turn legally at 52nd, which is just past the restaurant and then turn right into the lot...Google maps hasn't added this yet... read more

Finally got to Delicia after it being on my list for a year. Went during Devour but didn't do the Devour menu. Had reservations with my mom for an earlish dinner. Great location and great decor. Couldn't decide on an appetizer, and the whole menu looks amazing, so instead we got the entree Shrimp Curry as our "app." It was great. It was my mom's favorite dish of the evening. For entrees I got the jerk chicken and she got the Mahi. The jerk chicken isn't your traditional jerk that you'd get but it was this amazing twist. The hot honey that they put on it really sets it off. The Mahi and curry were awesome together. I think I liked the chicken the most. Somehow we had room for dessert and got the churros! Best churros I've ever had. Comes with a chocolate dipping sauce that's good, but I think they are better on their own! Next time I'll definitely be trying the mofongo or the scallops. I think I may go here once every 2 weeks until I try everything on the menu. It's probably my 2nd favorite Indianapolis spot behind Vida. I was truly surprised by just how much I loved my experience at Delicia! The atmosphere was fresh, fun, and refined. I ate there pretty early in the day, but I can tell that it would be even more fun later in the night. The food was incredible! I had the Pupusa and I would highly recommend it! The many layers of texture and flavor worked together so well and it was so different from anything else I have had in Indianapolis. The menu is a little heavy on seafood, but they were super receptive to my shellfish allergy and I felt completely safe eating there without fear of cross contamination. The other girls had positive reviews for their drinks. We then ordered appetizers - guacamole, queso and taquitos. All were perfect to share and great portion sizes. I can't say enough about this place! We walked in and were immediately greeted by the sweetest hostess, we sat at a high table in the bar area and with in a minute our server was at our table. My GF and I dined at Delicia with another couple who had been once before and spoke very highly of their previous experience. The inside has an elegant yet casual feel, with dim lightening. They have a large bar, with several high top tables in the bar area. On the other side of the restaurant, they have more traditional tables, including a few large round booths for bigger parties. The menu is straightforward. A handful of appetizers, variety of entrees and two dessert options. This is not the place to come if you are looking to eat for cheap as most entrees are in the $25-30 range. We started off with the 'queso fundido con chorizo' appetizer for the table. When we placed this order, our waitress asked if we also wanted a side of guac and salsa to come out with the queso suggesting "it's what most people do". We assumed this meant just a small bowl of each to have in addition to the chips that would come with the queso, or even perhaps just complimentary as that is sometimes the norm at many Mexican restaurants. The four of us looked at each other and kind of all gave the "why not?" grin, so we then spoke up and said that would be fine. Come to find out, by suggesting we add on salsa and guac, the waitress was effectively ordering our table two more regular sized appetizers which we discovered when they were brought out. The queso was by far the best tasting appetizer. It was unique from other quesos as the cheese had a thicker texture and you essentially had to use each chip to cut out a bite of the cheese. The only downside to that was the chips had a tendency to break off in the queso -- thus I started using two chips at a time to add some reinforcements. We also had fun trying the three different salsas. Although after having a cocktail as well as casually picking at all three of the appetizers, we were all pretty full by the time we had to place our entrees. However, we persevered and each ordered our own plate. I ordered the enchiladas de pato, a duck based enchilada dish topped with habanero cream sauce and chihauhau cheese with a side of black beans and green rice. It was very tasty and I enjoyed the sauce. Unfortunately though, I was so full from the appetizers I was only able to eat a few bites before having to throw in the towel. Overall, we had a good time at Delicia but not going to lie we left feeling a little duped by our waitress slyly suggesting we add on two more full sized appetizers. Obviously, we could have done a better job pacing ourselves and saving room for the main entrees but that is easier said than done when the food's on the table and we're engrossed in conversations. And unfortunately since we were not going home after dinner, we were unable to take the rest to-go. Oh well, lesson learned -- if I come back, I would not order an appetizer so I can fully enjoy the main meal! read more

Located on 56th, Delicia is Americas, Carrie an and Spanish inspired. Took a friend for her first visit. She had a beautiful pulprinda drink made with Mango purée and other ingredients but the fun begins with a tajin rim (I tasted the rim and it is so fun with a mix of salt, tamarind and a bit of spice). Love the color. Their guacamole is one of the best-chips are good too! This time I had the street tacos with refried beans. I would probably not get this dish again as it's a bit heavy on the grease for me which made the soft shells pretty greasy. They do have a very good flavor so I ate the filling and left the shells. My friend had the plaintains and she really enjoyed them with the Mofongo meal. Service is quite good, love the decor and ambiance. Good is notably good. My only regret is not coming sooner! We had a reservation for a Friday night, and the table was ready when we arrived. Be sure to allow extra time for parking if you go at a peak time. Our waitress was very kind and personable. She did seem pretty busy though as it took awhile for her to come back between taking orders. However we were in no rush, so enjoyed the long dinner. For apps we ordered the Queso and it was delicious. I ordered the empanadas for dinner, and they did not disappoint. I did pay for it later though since it was so rich I didn't feel the best. But I do think it was worth it! Since we were celebrating a birthday, they brought out churros. We were stuffed, but they looked too delicious not to try!
