    Eight course experience menu
    Sho R.

I was there for an eight course dinner. It was a fancy dinner. Most of the people were dressed up for the event. I took a bar seat, as that was cheaper and I was alone. I was the only person having dinner in the bar seat. Every course starts with chef explaining the food and the source of its ingredients. They will have a personalized menu with your name printed on it. I didn't go for wine pairing. I think that would have been fun. Dinner started with Canapes, which was 4 miniscule items. If anything it made me hungrier. Tipi farmed compressed cucumber was the next course. It was a veggie course close enough to salad (not salad though). J&S farmed purple and green asparagus was the next course. It was flavorful asparagus with some shell fish. They also gave fancy towel to wipe hands after this dish. There was a blindfold course, which was to taste 4 ingredients blind folded to appreciate its flavor without using visual sense. Right after that, a salad made with that 4 ingredients will be served. Spring green ramp risotto was a heavier course. This also happened to be my least favorite course. Something in the flavor combination was off for me. Before getting into the next course there was a 20 minute break. One can explore their wines, cocktails etc and can buy any. It was the time to stretch legs. Braised generations wagyu chuck eye can be treated as the entree. Though it is small to stand alone as an entree. There was a cheese course that followed with 4 good Wisconins cheeses. Finally there is the dessert course which was ice cream and stuff. The dinner took slightly above 3 hours. Because the 8 courses were spread across 3 hours I felt the food was adequate. Some people were taking boxes though.

First time eating here and what a great dining experience in Madison! Located in Hilldale area with plenty of free parking. The concept is an open layout kitchen serving 8-10 courses which vary depending on what local ingredients are available that season. They also only do dinner service with the seating beginning at 6:00 PM. Cost breakdown: A $20/person deposit and $8 booking fee is required to make a reservation! $120/person + 20% service charge for bar seating at the table where the chef prepares food. Only advantage is it's easier to chat with the chef during the experience. This price is without wine pairing. $99/person + 20% service charge for general table seating. I sat here and still had a view of the chefs plating food. If I return I would pick this seating again. Food: The food is locally sourced, well presented, and tasted great. I especially enjoyed the blindfold course where you wear a blindfold as the waitstaff bring out the food so you do not know what you are eating. As each course is brought out, chef Ben explains the ingredients of each dish and where they were sourced from. There was an intermission of about 15-20 minutes where you could stretch your legs or enjoy complimentary samples of whiskey, oil, and other condiments. Another Yelp review mentioned the intermission was 45 minutes which concerned us initially, but ours wasn't that long. All of the waitstaff and chefs were super friendly and attentive. My only criticisms are that I was there celebrating a birthday and the birthday cake they provided was very basic, especially for a place charging $100+/person and the experience was 3.5 hours which is quite long for 8 courses!

Celebrated my birthday and it was a chef set menu $100/pp. A $20/pp deposit is required plus $8 transaction fee. Plenty of parking. We arrived at 6 pm and it started around 6:30 pm with 20 other guests. You walked past a shop and the cashier checked us in. The chef explained each dish and the highlight was the blind folded one. We are a huge fan of omakase and did dining in the dark. Google those and if you haven't done any. Perhaps it's a good idea to try this first. Attentive service and 20% mandatory service fee. I'd like to have more seafood given the price point.

Visited DelecTable for the first time, celebrating my birthday and it was truly a treat. Upon entrance, the venue has a bunch of liquors, oils, and various novelty spirits that you're able to purchase. Towards the back, we got seats in front of the chef and were able to watch him masterfully create the beautiful dishes. I was equally impressed with the both quality and taste of the dishes and the story behind each dish (chef would explain where each ingredient came from and always had a thoughtful reason for including). I will say I had not tried over half of the dishes / ingredients before and was so excited for the unique combinations and flavors. Truthfully, I was not a fan of a couple of the dishes but everyone has different flavor profiles / types of food they like (not a negative on the chef or the cooking whatsoever) it's me lol. The experience was incredible - there's a seasonal and ever changing tasting menu and chef even had a blind course (which was equally exciting and terrifying). We were given a blindfold and had the ingredients of a dish to truly isolate on the taste. Overall, so cool to have a unique restaurant like this in Madison and would definitely recommend!

We visited twice. The first time was the cooking class. We learned how to make Indian food. It was fun. You were not always eating the foods you prepared which sometimes could be a disappointment because you wanted to know how well you did. The second time, we did a chef's tasting class. It was a fun experience because we got to try different things. They were very accommodating with my boyfriend's weird citrus and shellfish allergies. Most of the dishes were very creative and delicious. There was one dish that we didn't like as much. That was the risotto with ramp kimchi. I think the ramp kimchi and the greens made the risotto too bitter. It was very creative but not my cup of tea. They also introduced me to a Wisconsin cheese that I became obsessed with, the Carr Valley Airco. Also, their dessert was so delicious. It was a chocolate mousse with strawberry ice cream on top. Overall, fun place.

If you're new to fine dining and coursed menus then this will be a fun experience. It's a very casual environment and the wait staff are very nice and professional. Here's the bad: there was a 45-minute "intermission" in the middle of dinner. It was abrupt and confusing. Other than Thanksgiving, who would ever need an intermission during a meal? It was presented as a generous gesture for patrons to stretch their legs, but in truth it's an invitation to direct those poor, cramped legs into the Vom Foss store right outside the dining room where you get 10% off--tonight only!! Here's the sad: don't expect anything special or thoughtful if you're celebrating a birthday. The birthday person at my table and at the table next to ours got the same deconstructed dessert as everyone else. Except the chef glued a generic birthday candle onto their plates with frosting. You get more effort at Olive Garden. I doubt the intermission will ever go away, but I genuinely hope that management considers that when a 3-hour dinner costs over $150 per person, it would be a prudent practice to make guests' celebrations feel celebratory... and not perfunctory.

After the "murder"... with the victim

Soooo we went for a murder mystery evening! Justin, the host and owner, did an amazing job keeping it all moving. The food was delicious, drinks were flavorful and seasonal. Unique flavors. Prime ingredients. We laughed and giggled... don't we all need more fun in our lives? Our co-diners were great fun too. We all left totally full!

WOW! This meal was incredible. We went for the Epicurean tasting menu with paired drinks. Disclaimer, it was expensive. But it was so good and worth every penny. (Sign up for the club for free and get some money back in rewards to buy things in the store!) Every dish was made at the head table where we could watch on screens, then described in detail and served. The drinks were wonderful! This was definitely a meal to remember. We loved the steak and asparagus dishes, but honestly it was all amazing!

We had so much fun at DelecTable! The dining room was full but was not crowded or too loud. The staff were delightful and attentive. The owner, Justin, and the head chef, Ben, give their notes of the course before you begin. It was so fun to hear them talk about the food and wine, you can tell they are passionate about what they do! Okay, now for the reason we're all truly here. The food and drinks. My husband and I have been learning more about wines lately and had great fun trying out the pairings on the menu. We each had a full tasting pour and a cocktail before the meal. Each course was remarkable. Chef shared with us that the first half of the menu was his favorite and I could see why. I couldn't think of a single critique if I tried. The blindfold course was a truly unique experience. You put on your blindfold and a member of the staff brings you a plate with a small bite of each part of the full course, which you are served in full with a wine pairing, after you sample each bite blindfolded. The only complaint I had about the whole meal, and let me tell you, it is small. Is that we thought the Magic Molly Pomme Anna could have used a bit of salt. This however, did not keep me from clearing my plate. The strawberry ice cream made with liquid nitrogen was interesting to watch and delicious! All of this and there was an intermission where we had a break to walk around the vom fass storefront, sampling their selection of balsamic vinegars, liqueurs, and spirits. We had the best time and will absolutely be back, huge thanks to the entire DelecTable team for an exceptional evening.

    Prime rib dinner
    Isabel C.

This is a review for their Saturday night prime rib takeout dinner which I would highly recommend! For about $50, the portion sizes of each of the courses was what I expected and very filling. The prime rib came with roasted vegetables and smashed red potatoes. There was enough food to fill each person's plate and then some, which was great because I was really craving a home-cooked comfort meal. The other two courses were a Caesar salad (which was pretty standard) and raspberry cheesecake (more of a deconstructed kind of dessert than a traditional cheesecake). Overall, I thought that everything was delicious, packaged well to retain the quality of the food, and very reasonably priced. Their paired wine was about $12 and went well with the prime rib. It all made for a really great evening at home and I will definitely be getting more of their take-out dinners in the future.

The food was exquisite and the ambiance was romantic. I loved every plate and it was perfectly paired with wines from around the world. The quality of food and service was exceptional! The balance between watching the show and enjoying dinner conversations was perfect. Highly recommend getting this on your calendar soon!

All I can say is wow!!! We went for our anniversary and it was definitely the most memorable one yet! The whole production was amazing and the food was delicious. Highly recommend, it's 100% worth every penny!

In…read morethe past, my experiences with the employees were also pretty darn charming, or at least satisfactorily neutral. The last time I was in the store, however, I was made to feel chastised and unwelcome, and while I recognize that this is a very personal response to an impersonal slap down, it left me feeling so stung that I doubt I'll return. What happened was this: I needed a new pair of reading glasses, and I'd gotten the most adorable Peepers from this store in the past. It was 5:50pm, and I saw on their door sign that they closed at 6pm. Great! I thought. I'll pop in and grab a pair. Immediately upon entering, one employee said, "You know we close in ten minutes." "Got it! I'll be quick!" I replied. I went to the rack of glasses, considered a few pairs, and checked the fit in the little mirror on the rack. In that little mirror, I could see the employee behind me, who was frowning and rolling her eyes in exasperation, mouthing to her fellow employees on the other side of the room that , "No, not yet, she's still here." Yikes, I thought, checking my watch. It was 5:55pm, so I chose a pair and went to the register. One last thing--I wanted to get an e-cloth, a product a different employee had recommended to me the last time I was there. I mentioned this to the employee as she grouchily said, "Will that be all?" She huffed, "Well, the e-cloths are in a different part of the store." She strode off, and I said, "Any one will do!" She said, "No, just come pick the one you want." She proceeded to lead me to a section of wash cloths and sink cleaning scrubby brushes? When I explained that no, I was looking for a microfiber cloth to clean the lenses of the glasses with, and that they used to be stocked at the register, she huffed again and said, "Well, they're not anymore, are they? Also, we're just about to close...?" I bought the glasses, walked out the door, and checked my watch. 5:59pm. But golly, those nine minutes I spent in their store, encroaching on what I assume was their rush to be done and escape their pesky customers, left a bad taste in my mouth that nine days later still hasn't left. Which is a bummer. As I said, I really liked that store. Problem is, the cutest merchandise in the world can't make up for poor customer service.
