The pesto chicken sandwich was great! Wine was 3 stars. Ambience, amazing. Service great. I will be returning.

Great selection of wines - this was the rare Virginia winery where nothing on offer disappointed - with stunning views from the tasting room. Great live music and (somewhat pricier) food will make you want to linger for a couple of hours. I appreciate Delaplane's policies, which are designed to make this much more approachable and enjoyable for small groups and couples who are simply looking for great wine in a relaxing setting than many other wineries in the area. No children, large groups, limos, or buses are allowed - which is just perfect. read more

Probably one of the best vineyards in terms of quality of wine that I've been to in northern Virginia. We went on a weekday with our dog and the staff was very friendly. We ordered two wine flights (they pick 4 wines for you) and the charcuterie plate. The staff walked the food out to the picnic table and I was very impressed with the quality of food as well as the service from their staff. Beautiful views as well. I highly recommend this winery! read more

Not one to get overly worked up about COVID but want to say there was an extreme level of care taken and at the same time an incredibly engaged and hospitable staff. It's been a while since we have been here but will be back soon. Afternoon music was also excellent without being overwhelming. read more

I am very disappointed in what Deleplane Cellars has become. We have been club members for about 10 years but decided today to end that. We visited today and realized the new management is more interested in the entertainment experience and not the wine. This is great if that is what you are looking for. The view is great. The staff tries. But it is no longer about the wine. read more

Delaplane Cellars is perched on romantic Lost Mountain, and views from the tasting room cast a spell of quiet. This adults-only refuge won't be interrupted by big, loud crowds or scampering kiddies, or either - no large groups (more than six), buses or limos accepted. The vibe is cool and calm as you pass through the 8-foot high, solid walnut doors into the tasting room. Neutral decor sets up the centerpiece: a wall of sky-high windows bringing in the rolling mountain and vineyard views. Wines are outstanding, with layers of flavor and the promise of even better things to come after cellaring. Hang-out spots include window tables in the tasting room and sunny side and front decks. A big indoor fireplace is in the plans. Picnics are okay, but limited to the knoll outside the tasting room - not inside the tasting room or on the deck. Winery accepts private parties; no infants, children or anyone under 21; pets welcome on leash in picnic area on knoll outside the tasting room; no smoking on the property. Cheers! This has become my go to winery. The staff has always taken great care of myself and others that I've been with. I've enjoyed a good majority of their wines and I haven't had one that I didn't like. With the covid pandemic I was hesitant on going to the winery after it reopened but I'm happy I did. They've added a huge deck off the back that allows for more seating. If you've been here you know the views are amazing! Nothing better than enjoying a great sunset while enjoying a great glass of wine. read more

Accommodated a group of 12 with no problem outdoors. The wine is also delicious and they had great pairing suggestions.

My favorite winery on the east coast. The view is spectacular, the wine has gotten really good over the past five years, and the staff is excellent. Jeremy, one of the managers, makes my wife and I feel like family every time we stop in. If you haven't been here in a while: give it another shot. They've really turned this place into something special. read more

We had a great afternoon at Delaplane Cellars. They offer several wines that we enjoyed, our favorites were the Sauvignon Blanc and the Duet. We sat in the patio and had an amazing view. The tables are nicely spaced out and there are umbrellas for shade. The staff and other guests followed social distancing rules and we felt comfortable being there. read more

We visited Delaplane Cellars this past Friday with some good friends and fellow wine lovers. There is a small parking area right as you come up the drive to the winery, but don't stop there unless you want to take a short hike up a gravelly drive. There is more parking if you drive around to what appears to be the back of the building which is actually right by the entrance to the tasting room. It was a beautiful day so luckily we didn't mind the walk. The tasting room is huge and modern. There are tables available inside and outside on the deck. Their is a wall of windows and French doors where construction of a second deck has begun. There are lovely views to enjoy while sipping a glass or sharing a bottle. Picnicking is allowed on the tables in the grassy area. We were greeted as we entered and offered a tasting - 4 wines that day for a nominal tasting fee of $6, not a bad deal. They offered a white, a rose and two reds. The white, Melange Blanc, was my favorite of the tasting. It was the perfect summer porch wine, citrusy and fresh without being tart. The Rose I could see pairing fairly well with a nice summer salad. This was not the best Rose I have ever had - just ok. It had a lingering flavor that just didn't work for me, but others in our small group enjoyed. The other favorite for me in this tasting was a Melange Rouge - a nice fruity, easy drinking red. The other, a Cabernet Franc, was quite dry - tough all on it's own, but would be quite good with grilled meat or a hearty pasta. The staff was super friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the wines offered. We decided to enjoy a glass outside before heading to our next destination. Overall a great experience at Delaplane Cellars - great service, nice wines and perfect location/atmosphere. A few tips: 1) They offer live music on weekend afternoons - the tasting room is definitely large enough to accommodate a small acoustical set up. 2) There is additional seating upstairs which I believe is reserved for members. 3) They do not accommodate parties over 6, bus tours or limos. 4) This winery is not a place for kids - in fact visitors under the age of 21 are not permitted in the tasting room or on the farm winery. 5) They offer a military discount! read more

3.5 stars. Brand spanking new facilities. Beautiful, huge, open, Pottery-Barn-looking tasting room with plans for a deck eventually. Nice views of the foothills. Young, friendly staff. The wines included in our tasting were quite good, but none was particularly outstanding in my mind. And all the grapes for Delaplane's wines come from vineyards scattered across Virginia...understandable, given they just opened the winery this year and only planted their own vines three years ago. But it's always more exciting to be sipping a vino whilst gazing out over the very vines from which their grapes were plucked. The wines we sampled were an '09 Barrel Fermented Chardonnay, which I wasn't a fan of but I don't normally enjoy Chardonnay to begin with; an '08 Honah Lee Viognier and an '07 Emerald Lake Viognier, both very nice with a creamy mouth feel; an '07 Old World Cabernet Franc, light and pleasing; an '07 Left Bank Bordeaux Blend; and an '07 Springlot Reserve, a blend of Cab Franc, Cab Sauv, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. While the various staff working our tasting (they kept switching in and out, which I thought unusual) were quite nice, I didn't find them to be all that engaging or informative. Maybe because the bar was a little busy... Since Delaplane Cellars is so new, I give them credit for a nice product and assume they will only get better with age. I look forward to being able to revisit once they've begun reaping the fruit from their own vines. All in all, it's worth a visit for the highly appealing tasting room and views, friendly people, and decent wines. read more

We happened by this winery on our way FROM Three Fox Vineyards and on our way TO Naked Mountain. We journeyed back for this place on our final stop along the way home and are SO glad we did. This winery is new as we found out that it opened (secretly) in November 2009 but had their grand opening in April 2010. The tasting room is (by far) the best we've seen. It's very roomy and comfortable and the views are BEAUTIFUL. The wines were impressive (so much so that we purchased 6 bottles). We will definitely be coming back soon in order to spend the afternoon sharing a bottle of wine with friends along with some bread and sausage (both of which were very good!!!) Thanks delaplane cellars for making the afternoon memorable! Looking forward to seeing you again soon! read more

Pros: Very pretty. Nice service. 12 dollar tasting, quite nice. Cons: Wine is a bit overpriced for its quality. No food beyond a cheese platter. They're also a bit... Pretentious? Uptight? Other reviews have spoken of the no limo or large groups rule. My group wasn't affected by that, but it was still a bit, eh. For example, I love bringing a bit of food, buying a couple of bottles, and enjoying the landscape. However, this winery has a rule that you can't eat your own food on their premises. Granted they have set up some picnic tables a bit removed from the building, but... It just seems so unnecessary. It's not like they serve food on their own. Another rule: you can't drink a bottle you bought at the tasting bar. (That is, I bought a bottle, poured myself a glass, and went to keep my friends doing a tasting company.) Nope, not allowed- please back away from the bar. This was supposedly due to Virginia liquor laws... But I've never had this issue at another Virginia winery. So, yeah. It's very pretty, and the staff is nice, but it's a little overpriced and stuffy. I guess the main thing for me is that you can get "pretty and nice" at a dozen other Virginia wineries, for cheaper. read more

This is a beautiful vineyard. We were looking forward to visiting it all day and as a group of 5 being driven by a limo for a birthday girls weekend, we were having a great day. We were dropped off in the limo and our driver parked off to the side. Wanting to safely explore VA wine country, we thought this was smart behavior. We were not visibly intoxicated - we were well dressed and behaved. We're mid 30s for Gods sake - we're adults. We walked in and were immediately taken by the ambiance of the building & the smell of fresh baked bread. We had already been poured tasting glasses when a woman came out and said we would need to leave because we had arrived in a limo. She literally didn't care that we had just gotten there and didn't give us an opportunity to ask our driver to leave the premises. She sent us out. Talk about absolutely horrible customer service. I will never purchase or drink this wine because of the way we were treated. It was mortifying. read more

Love! We walked away Club Members. That's a first for me. The tasting is $7, as others pointed out, which is only a measly $2 more than the other spots we tried. There was no Yelp check-in offer at the time that I saw, but now that we're members (woo hoo!), we're entitled to four free tastings every time we visit. Makes sense, they want you to bring friends, and we surely will. The tasting included 5 wines (or was it 6? I think 5), and then we nabbed two more on a lark. Well, maybe because we joined the club - she offered us a taste of one of the wines to be included in our "package" as well as a taste of a dessert wine. Not sure how we lucked into that second one (must simply be because we had a fantastic woman helping us), but it was delicious. There was truly not a single wine here that I tasted that I did not care for. Speaking of the staff, the woman pouring for us was very amiable, easy and enjoyable to chat with. Not overbearing, not too pushy, very informative. You could tell she loved her side job. We also enjoyed a nice acoustic set by the guitarist in the corner. Nice voice, nice song selection. (We were there on a Sunday afternoon.) Also as noted, the view is really very beautiful, allowing you to take in the rolling hills, grapevines and turning leaves, with the seating area both inside and out situated to take advantage of that scenic vista. Although this means that you're facing away while tasting at the bar, have no fear! The owners have ingeniously installed mirrors all along the back side. I can also vouch for the absolutely fantastic white wine cheese plate they had running; my hubs was so enamored by the hot peach chutney that we bought one of the small jars they stock. The plate came with three cheeses (apple-smoked cheddar, goat and something somewhat ... parmesan-esque), the chutney, sliced salami and deliciously fresh, warm bread (you can choose from their cellar bread - they were out, French loaf - the route we took, or naan.) We ordered a bottle of wine and the plate and situated ourselves at one of the high-tops downstairs, then simply corked the bottle when we were ready to go. There's also an upstairs area with couches for club members, though we didn't check it out. She told us it's cozy but the windows are a bit smaller. One bonus in my eyes (at least for this past weekend given that we were on a short romantic trip for two) is that they do not take buses/limos/large groups. A few others wineries seem to have this policy as well, which in my mind increases the chance that you have a relatively quiet, relaxed, intimate experience. read more

I first discovered Delaplane while on a self-guided Virginia wine tour with a good girlfriend. We both love wine--especially reds--and generally dislike Virginia wine. This trip was no different. After sampling some pretty awful wines from several nearby wineries, we asked for a recommendation for a good winery in the area. I'm surprised that the woman and ________ winery gave us any suggestions, because we basically said, "Your wine is $h!t, where can we get something decent?" but she told us about Delaplane. My world has never been the same. First of all, the views are STUNNING. I haven't seen anything like it in Virginia. Second, the tasting room is exceptionally classy, unlike some Virginia wineries that cheese it up with dips, hand painted wine glasses, and dogs (what?). They don't serve much food right now, but I could die a happy woman eating a loaf (or two) of their cellar bread dipped in the complimentary olive oil and s&p, with a glass of their bordeaux blend. They also serve heaping scoops of goat cheese and hummus--awesome. But really, we come for the wine, and the wine is OUTSTANDING. I repeat, I'm a bit of a wine snob--I like old world, big red wines, I hate oak (read: cheap chard), I don't drink wine that's been opened for more than 24 hours, and I obviously subscribe to the notion that anything made with apples, raspberries, or other fruits is not true "wine." That said, I've maybe liked one or two Virginia wineries, and that's probably after multiple tastings. Well, I can't say enough about Delaplane wines, except for that I joined the wine club right away. Their whites are fruity and delicate, and even their Chardoney is light on the oak. But their reds...oh, their reds. Their cab franc is earthy, with dark fruits and a spicy finish. The bordeaux blend is more complex with a longer finish. I haven't been back to try their new reds, but I plan on making a trip asap. Everyone has different tastes in wines, so perhaps Delaplanes wines aren't for everyone. But even if you just go for the view, the bread, and a glass, you won't be disappointed. I promise. Someday, I hope to have my wedding here. Until then, I'll keep going back for the good wine and atmosphere. read more

I might be a little biased in my review because I am a wine club member. However, that really doesn't matter with what this winery has to offer. My fiance and I came here one Sunday afternoon looking to try a new Virginia winery. I did some quick yelping of what was in this area, and Delaplane showed up. The negative aspects were that they didn't allow children or limos. well HELLO, that's exactly what we were looking for! The things that stood out at Delaplane were the quality of the wine, the views, and the standard of atmosphere. My fiance and I both love reds. However, I do enjoy white wine, especially in the summertime. This is one of the few wineries where we did the entire tasting (about 6 wines, mixed red/white) and would have purchased a glass or bottle of EVERYTHING we tasted! Usually we can only find one or two that stand out. However, here at Delaplane, they do an excellent job on both white and red wines. This winery has incredible sweeping views of not only the vines, but also the mountains. The tasting room inside offers several glass french doors, allowing you to still enjoy the views in the colder weather, accompanied by an outdoor deck with tables with umbrellas for sunny summer days. The one downside is that you can't bring any outside food into the tasting room. This was on the one thing I didn't like. However, they do offer a few picnic tables out back where you can bring your own food after you've done your tasting or purchased a bottle of wine. A decent compromise! On the other hand, their bread they offer is SO good (and accompanied by free olive oil). Most weekends they offer live music which provides for nice, but not obnoxious background music. read more

I'm not sure why the negative reviews? Most of the reviews reflect some simple rules the establishment expects patrons to follow... It's simple. The property doesn't have the room for limos or busses to turn around in their driveway, thus the no limos or bus rule. Also, the parties less than 6. I've regularly gone to other wineries and seen large parties (8/10 +) do tastings. These tastings take an hour or more to finish. Imagine having to wait 45+ minutes to do a tasting because there's a large groups in-front of you. Many people talk about "rude staff". I've seen countless times people on their phones or ignoring the server. Then complain they aren't being attentive. The staff there has a lot of knowledge and expertise if you open up to them and appreciate their knowledge of the wine. As far as the food. They do allow outside food/picnics on picnic tables on top of a hill. They offer a small selection of local cheese/bread/salami. Some will complain it's expensive but it's all local sourced from VA, but it's comparatively priced to other wineries in the area. The reason behind no outside food is unfortunately like everything else, customers abused it and brought buffet dinners with them and stayed all day, not appreciating the me wine. The wine is by far one of the best in VA. The wine makers do a great job making quality wine. They are priced on the higher end because they locally source VA grapes, but the quality and taste is reflective of the price!!! As far as the "no-kids/dogs" rule. This is CLEARLY posted on the website and MULTIPLE signs as you enter the property. I certainly understand if you have kids or dogs, but I'm not sure why people take it out on the staff when it's clearly listed before you drive up the hill. Personally, I enjoy the adults only environment, but understand the need for other accommodations. Lastly, I will say the owners take a lot of pride in their property, wines, and company. I STRONGLY ENCOURAGE anyone who has any type of negative feedback to ask to speak to one of them about their experience. They are both very down to earth and receptive. They are REGULARLY in the tasting room and facility. If you buy a wine you don't like or anything else, they go above and beyond to accommodate reasonable requests!!! read more

We went to Delaplane on a nice Sunday afternoon and are regulars to Virginia Wineries. When we walked in they were busy but not completely packed so we stood by the bar. We were not even acknowledged for about 10 minutes and the first person to say something was another couple who gave us their tasting notes. Throughout the visit we waited at times 10 minutes between wines before our next pour. It just left a bitter taste in our mouth. As for the wines they were okay for a newer winery. The Chardonnay was very good and we would have purchased if we weren't so annoyed after the poor customer services. The tasting room was very clean and the view was awesome. If you want people to buy wine then you need to make sure they feel welcome! read more

Wow! Delaplane Cellars knocked my socks off. This may be the first time I've enjoyed every single wine at a tasting. The tasting room is stunning, lots of light and warm wood (with space for live music) and the patio view is beautiful. This is not your usual boisterous dogs, kids, and bachelorette parties galore kind of winery. It is adults only, no pets, and much more sedate and elegant than the other wineries I've visited. I thoroughly enjoy the cute kids and dogs when at other wineries, but it is so nice to have an alternative with a more peaceful (dare I say romantic) atmosphere. Just to clarify, I don't mean stuffy. We showed up scrubby and sweaty after a day of hiking and still felt completely comfortable here. If you are exploring Virginia wineries, put this on your must-visit list! read more

I don't normally post reviews, but I felt the need to in this particular case. My parents, my husband, and I stopped into Delaplane Cellars after going to Skye Meadows State Park for a glass of wine before heading back into DC. Now, the views are great and the wine is nothing to write home about, but is decent. Because it was a sunny day, a few tables (including ours) opened the umbrellas on the patio. It was a bit windy and it became quickly apparent that the umbrellas were not well reinforced to cope with such conditions. The umbrella at the table next to us came out of its holder at one point and ours was shaking at any small gust, so we had to hold the base down with our feet and a grip on the umbrellas pole. Finally, an umbrella came straight out of its holder, flew about 5 feet and almost hit a gentleman at a nearby table right on the head. Fortunately, he ducked and was able to grab the umbrella before it fell from the patio. Once that happened, some staffers inside came out and closed all the umbrellas, but this is clearly a massive liability waiting to happen. There is absolutely a way to reinforce these umbrellas so they are safe in conditions like that so they either need to invest in making modifications like that or they need to clearly state and enforce a strict policy of no umbrellas in semi-windy conditions. Just wanted to share this as a word of warning and advice to the owners to address this issue before something terrible happens. read more

Delaplane Cellars is five stars across the board. The venue offers plenty of space including a large patio with heaters and fire pits. Incredible views! There isn't a spot inside or out that doesn't offer scenery worthy of a postcard. The staff goes above and beyond to create an amazing customer experience. Tom is knowledgeable and very accommodating, he truly bent over backwards to make sure my party had an unforgettable stay. If you find yourself lucky enough to meet winemaker Rick you're in for some laughs and education from someone passionate about their craft. The food I enjoyed ranged from hummus to a selection of paninis to homemade tomato basil soup all of it carefully prepared and delicious. Every step along the way staff was there to answer questions and offer suggestions. Finally, the wine! Aromatic and flavorful, thoughtful and creative, the selection runs the gamut and everyone from novice to expert will find something new to love. My husband and I have been members for a year now, and have to say the change in management has been nothing but incredible. The tastings are more connected and engaged, the staff more positive and friendly, and the food is incredible...all with the same great wine. I finally had the chance to try this winery and was so excited. It's a boutique style, so no kids, no big parties (6+), no limos/buses, etc. With our small group of 3 that day, it was perfect. The wines were very good and the atmosphere was great. They're big on the green movement, if you're into that. They appeared to have a great food menu, but we weren't planning on staying to eat this time. I'd like to next time! The views out of the wall of windows is gorgeous. GREAT wines, good view, nice people leading the tastings. One of my new favorite Virginia wineries. I would love to see them offer a true dessert wine, and next time I'll arrive early enough to try their food offerings. Note: they don't take buses, limos, or groups larger than 6 people. read more

Unbelievably awful service. Our one vehicle party entered this establishment at 3:45 on 3/2. We were told by the so called manager that we needed to leave because we were larger than 6 people and they needed room for "their wine club or smaller parties". The tasting room had several tables open and we were willing to support a local winery. The manager was adamant that their policy would not allow us to pay for drinks since we had more than 6 people. Visit another local winery - Blue Ridge or Barrel Oak we're so customer friendly. Visit these locations before you think about this terrible location. read more

What was a good time with friends and family in the upstairs room turned into a sad affair when when the service turned nasty and tried to charge us for a security deposit when there was no damage. We purchased 18 bottles of wine which may have been more wine they served to all customers that day. At not point during our stay did we receive any notice about our noise. With 20 people in the party in a echoing room I don't know what was expected. They have lost 20 customers today and the potential customers of friends who will be turned away from hearing of our experience. The carpet in the upstairs was already stained and we said nothing when others customers came upstairs during our get together to check out the room and the view. At the end of the event we put everything back to the way we found it. There are many wineries in the area and I recommend you try any other. Also the members who threw the party have been members since 2007 and will not be returning. read more

I stopped here with my BF this past Sunday after taking a great hike at Sky Meadow Park. Since we were right down the road and had never been to Delaplane before, we decided to give it a spur of the moment try. Parking was strange - we parked in the front (or the back?? - first try parking around on the opposite side of the bldg). It was a beautiful Fall day, and there were a good number of people there enjoying the views and the wine. The room was striking with floor to ceiling windows - very pretty and seemed to have a good energy. We were greeted by a woman as soon as we walked in who set us up for a tasting.....she told us where to stand along the bar, and then went back to greet the next people walking in the door. We stood for several mins waiting for someone to do our tasting - felt like an assembly line almost. We were just left there, that was until Matt finally came up to us. MATT WAS HORRIBLE - Now honestly, I never pick on individuals on Yelp, and understand how hard it is to wait on people all day long (I have been there myself). He was doing tastings for at least 4 other couples that we saw - he seemed rushed, uninterested and a bit irritated. He would leave us for up to 5 mins at a time (that's a long time in a tasting) and for some reason, he barely put any wine in my glass - just MY glass. Not that my friend got a generous pour, but it became a joke by the 3rd time he came around and gave me my squirt as he dully told us what we were getting ready to taste. (NO - that is not why I am only giving them a 2). He was just plain rude, and honestly ruined the experience for us. We had planned on buying a bottle of wind and sitting out on the deck, but we couldn't get out of there fast enough - I will not be back. I am not picky or uptight in the least, but there is no excuse for poor service in an environment like this. We went down the road to Barrel Oaks and had a wonderful lady do a tasting for us - she was friendly, answered our questions, and at least acted like she was glad we were there. We bought a bottle to enjoy there and one to bring home - just what we had planned on doing at Delaplane - won't be back and can't reccomend you either. You get the two stars for the beautiful room with the view. read more

Got here at 1:15PM for a 1:30PM reservation. Party of 7. We were promptly seated; the table given to us did not have enough shade, so we asked if we could get another open table with the exact same capacity. The staff indicated that that table was already reserved. It could be that a regular at the venue reserved that exact 7 people table. So, we asked if we could get an additional umbrella. We were told one umbrella per table, and it was manager's decision. But then another table seated very near our table were given two umbrellas. Theirs was a party of 7 too. We asked about that to the server and he simply said he needs to talk to the manager and vanished. This review is not merely about shade/umbrellas; although that was very important because ours was a Father's Day outing with elders in the group. This review is also about what happened once we were seated. No one came to our table to ask about our experience. Our group kept moving around as the sun-shade provided by the umbrella changed. All this while every table at the restaurant were visited by multiple staff members at least multiple times. After about an hour, the table that we had requested was still available. read more

The wine was excellent, the atmosphere was beautiful and cozy, and the staff was very customer oriented!!

Very nice tasting room, modern/new. Wines are good, sometimes they have a band. Wine pourer lacked some character, she kept looking at me in a judgmental way and seemed unenthusiastic, it felt so awkward. But I don't think others would have that issue. I still recommend going. read more

I came here this past weekend to cross another item off my east coast bucket list. It's only about an hour and half away from DC, which I didn't think was too bad. And the drive was quite relaxing with all the gorgeous green scenery. We drove up the gravel driveway and parked next to the cars midway up the hill. Note: you can drive all the way up and park in the back of the building. The interior is very quaint, clean, and nice. Tastings were $6 per person for 4 different wines. Unfortunately I wasn't a huge fan of any of them, but we decided to get a bottle anyways to enjoy the scenery and what not. They also offer the typical food to pair with the wines (cheese, crackers, meats, etc.). We opted not to eat (bad decision if you keep drinking), but the table next to us had a nice looking combination. I really enjoyed their limit on the size of the party, as it kept the ambiance calm and relaxing (again, I hate crowds). It was a nice place to start before moving on to more crowded and louder wineries. read more

Pro tip: Park at the top behind the building. Go there first to see if there is parking then back down and walk up if there is not. There are yummy food options to enjoy a bottle/glass on their fabulous deck. Unless you buy a good quantity the tasting is $7 for 5 tastings... hrmph. The view and beautiful tasting room covers a myriad of sins, but I can't overlook the awful service (on a relatively slow day with many bartenders we had a difficult time getting anyone to pour our tastings) and borderline wine (BOW and Aspen Dale's were significantly better). First I must say as a Loudoun County resident I have visited many wineries in Loudoun County and have yet to venture out and try other wineries, well Sunday my wife and I ventured out to Deleplane Vineyards late in the afternoon. It was a trip I was glad to have made. The wines were all good to very good including the reds and the most notable Rose. Yes Rose, a wine I have never spent money on buying a bottle until now, was very French in style and not to sweet, actually was a little dry. The wine pourer was very knowledgeable and courteous as well. Able to talk about the wines, and the local vineyards in the area. A wealth of information. We decided to stay and order the cheese and local meats platter, most excellent the tasting room is great, spacious and big windows for viewing the pastoral mountain landscapes. People who complain about not having Yelp check in discounts should know by now that Yelp is now profiling businesses encouraging them to do this promotional crap in exchange for preferential treatment, that is what happens when these sites like facebook and Yelp get bought out. The same can be said about Washingtonian Magazine. I would not mark down my personal experiences at a place based on a Yelp Check In discount. Please! I work in a place that offers this deal and they get all positive reviews posted on the first page regardless of the date. So again, Deleplane Cellars has earned a return visit and I can only hope that the other wineries in the area are as good as Deleplane which has got my high marks for a winery that has not been opened as long as some of the others in the area. read more
