There are 2 franchise groups in the Fresno/Clovis area and the differences between them are consistent. Del Taco is Americanized Mexican Fast Food that also sells burgers and fries. In fact, the fries are crinkle cut and come with every meal. I am a fan of crinkle cut fries. The tacos taste a little better than Taco Bell. The sauce are easy to find because they are literally all over the shop in neatly sectioned baskets at every table. The better franchises are always busy. When entering the restaurant the give away is the counter. The lesser franchises have a straight counter with a refrigerator behind one of the registers. This creates an impossible sight line for customers to be seen, unless someone is waiting at the register. Understandably this is an inefficient use of labor if traffic is slow. It was a solid 5 minutes before anyone saw myself and another patron walk in. Then the order took another 7 minutes to be ready. To compare, the better franchises have counters that are in the shape of a French curve. Also, there are convex mirrors to help stop when a Customer comes in. Better sight lines make for quicker service. In the better franchises, an order is ready in under 4 minutes. This location on Herndon is definitely one of the Lesser franchises. In order to survive, they will need to improve upon their sight lines then work on cutting down the serve times. read more

Been to this new location twice and bad both times! First trip we orders burritos and was not told they were out of refried beans. Had black beans on all the burritos and took 25 minutes to get our food. Second trip we stopped by at 1am as we had been to a concert. It was nice the dining room was still open but had one person taking orders and filling orders. Took 20 minutes again and all the food was cold. Would not recommend this location. Go to Blackstone instead. Haven't worked out the new kinks here yet. read more

I've always loved the Del Taco chain, however, I feel like the quality in their food and service has declined, or maybe just at this location. They have good food, but the last few times I've gotten anything, it's been lackluster. And while I always chose them over Taco Bell because of seemingly healthy options, Taco Bell has taken the reign on the healthy food side of things; innovating where Del Taco has not. I love the food here, this rating is solely based on customer service. 6am is the time this business opens. I leave my house every morning at 6am and on my way to work I like to swing by Del taco and get breakfast. What's really disappointing is that even though they are supposed to be open at 6am, sometimes even at 610 the employee working still has not removed the cones that block the drive thru. I understand it's early and it's the last thing they think about doing, but come you guys. If you open at 6 then everything should be ready to go by 6. It's not like I'm waiting there at 5:55 complaining. It's at least 10 minutes after and 9/10 times I can't get food because the employee hasn't removed the cones. Management and owner are horrible. Terrible customer service. They yelled at us and refused to serve us our food after we asked why we couldn't use one coupon per order on two separate orders in the drive thru. Their policy clearly states one coupon per person, not one coupon per car and we would have ordered inside and been able to use the coupons separately no problem if their dining room was actually open. I've never been treated with as much disrespect as the owner of this franchise treated me and my partner. You think that it wouldn't be that hard to just accommodate a customer and just use a coupon for a $1 Taco, but this owner was adamant that he was right and we were wrong and didn't care about keeping our business. Also, every time I've ordered here before my food has been wrong. This franchise needs new ownership in order to be worth going to. I will be going to other locations instead. read more

My fave fast food of all time! I grew up on Del Taco in southern ca. So happy they opened one a lot closer to me! The store it self is so modern and clean! Food was hot a fresh and the new employees did a great job! Faves include bean and cheese burrito with red or green sauce, chicken soft tacos, regular beef tacos, fries and the bacon double del cheeseburger! So bomb. read more

I've been to this location several times. It seems good for a Del Taco. It cracks me up every time I see that big block of cheese and the heads of lettuce in the refrigerated case behind the register, like it's Panda Express or something. This is the cleanest, nicest, friendliest fast food restaurant I've been to in a long time. The bathroom was clean and graffiti free. My order was taken by an adult who was dressed professionally and acted politely and courteously. The food is still standard fare, but the presentation makes all the difference. We tried Del Taco for the first time tonight and had been looking forward to it. The tacos and burritos were okay but Taco Bell has better tacos and you can get better burritos at taco shops in the area. The taco meat seemed over seasoned and very salty. I like that they put more cheese than Taco Bell but it was almost too much cheese. We also tried a burger. It was terrible. Thinnest, driest patty ever. I don't understand how a restaurant that prides itself on the freshness of their ingredients could serve that. The one thing that was stellar was their service. This place just opened in Clovis. Good location, everything is new. Walked in to a line "out the door"! Then I realized they had ONE person taking orders... ugh! 20 mins waiting in line and we get to order, food arrived hot and fresh in another 6-8 mins. Found a seat and wondered if one of the window was open, but found out the AC was on. Absolutely FREEZING inside the restaurant!! Asked the manager if the AC could be turned off, and only received a sneer from management (literally a dirty look, absolutely NO communication what so ever). Some people were leaving the seating area to eat inside their cars! Luckily we found a seat next to windows so we could soak up the sunlight, but we kept our jackets on to eat. Food was good and quick. Atmosphere was very below grade with the freezing interior temps and terrible 1970's Muzak playing above our heads. Will use the drive through from now on! read more
