I have a french bulldog well behaved service animal, After i traveled to this place, they refused to seat me, even outside w my dog, i tried showing them my medical card and they were rude and literally agressive anti dog people. Very cute place! Almost made me question we were in Mexico. I had asked a few taxi drivers for the best coffee in town and somehow couldn't really get a straight answer. We ended up grabbing regular coffees from Don Cafeto (nothing special) around the corner before heading out on a 2 hour drive, but they didn't offer any quick bites to eat in the car. I then asked our driver for somewhere that sells pastries and we landed here. I wish I would have grabbed a latte from here but I already had a full cup of coffee in the car, never stopped me before but knowing we'd be on the road and possibly without easy access to a restroom I passed on ordering a bevvie from here. My husband and I came back to this restaurant 3 times. The food is terrific and imaginative. The wait staff is attentive and very friendly. Many speak English. Pretty much everything we ordered was great. We had the chilaquiles, muesli, eggs Florentine, brioche French toast and the fruit platter. The latter was bountiful and beautifully presented. Yes! So cute! So hipster! They advertise ac but don't be fooled, it's still warm inside. Decor is modern and cute, clean and hipster. Food was ok. Juice was ok. I got a green juice which had a little spinach and mint in it and maybe some pineapple but it was very bland. Nothing too flavorful (like hearty spinach or sweet pineapple). I also got a salmon tartine which was just smoked salmon on bread with avocado spread. That's hard to mess up, but the smoked salmon wasn't that smoked or cured and tasted almost sour - in a way that it seemed like it was going bad. The avocado spread was too tart too. Overall, the dish gets a B minus. The friend got an omelet and it was just ok to her too. Nothing special. We had such high hopes for this place, but it was a bit of a disappointment. I been here at the old location and now the new. They must of changed the menu a lot. I remember it being a lot better at the last location with a lot more food. The service isnt great. You ask for vegan options very clearly and they always add cheese or an egg and do not honor what u asked. Then you have to wait which takes a while for food. It kept happening to me and my partner would get his food way to early. I got my way late. I even got my coffee and juice 10 min after my remade meal and had to ask 2 times for it. They dont explain why its lagging or apologize for the lack of awareness and service. Even after they write it down. Simple things like just add potatoes no cheese no egg. This is a great little spot (especially if you're staying at La Palmita right next door). I liked the variety of vegetarian options on the menu. I had a coconut matte latte with espresso. It was ok but needed more honey. My wife and I split the Guilt Free Pancakes and the Croissant sandwich. The sandwich was great and came with a tasty side salad with yummy dressing. The pancakes were meh (flat and somewhat flavorless) but did come with an assortment of ripe tropical fruits. We had three different waiters throughout our time there and they don't seem to communicate with each other (which leads to more than one person asking if you've ordered yet). We got the wrong order at first for drinks but they fixed it quickly. They might be better off assigning waiters to different seating areas. read more

I have visited Del Cielo several times. I absolutely love this place, from the wonderful food (at reasonable prices), to the lovely space, to the great music they always play. However, I have to knock them two stars for one big reason. They have a beautiful covered patio in the front, on the street side, with plenty of seating. It's a great place to eat your meal. The problem is every time, EVERY TIME, I have sat there, I am chased away/inside by people smoking at their tables. The patio is fairly enclosed and tables are close together, so there is no escaping it. Allowing people to smoke in this space really kills the healthy vibe they have going. Went expecting really great, fresh breakfast and after bumming around Mex for a month, I'm kind of used to what others call slow service. But....the staff/owners were overwhelmed with just a few customers. Went about mid-morning, most tables were full. Ordering is weird because the menus are right at the cashier and it's a small area. So people are waiting to pay or order, but have to wait for newbs to read the menu, ask questions, chose, and order. Slow if only one, mind numbing if a group of moms and kids are in front of you. I was seated after ordering, but others were left to mill about, lurk a table, or just wait outside. (Recommend posting a menu outside. Also having a few near the door to clear the counter area of people). Either the server was new or she was just not cut to be a server. Watched her repeatedly bring a food order out, then walk past two tables with finished plates. Several times I tried to get her attention to refill or get me another cup of coffee. She would return behind the counter and wait to be told what to do next. It was as if she could only do simple directed tasks and only those. The owners had to come from behind the counter to clear tables and I finally got up and walked to the kitchen entrance to order another cup of coffee. (Recommend training her to be alert and look up/scan the room or hiring someone who can work). I finally got my food. I ordered what were listed as pancakes but was actually French Toast. I'm not that picky but even the owner came out with an order for another table and referred to it as "French Toast". It was a bit dry and over cooked. Nothing to recommend. Fresh papaya and other fruit slices were good. Coffee was pretty good, nothing special for the region. (Recommend correcting the menu or informing people when they order). I was going to get a kombucha to go, but the crowded space and poor service was driving me nuts. After several attempts to flag the server for the check, I just went to the counter and waited to pay. I stepped outside and actually breathed a sigh of relief for being able to get away from the ineptitude. I don't say that to be mean spirited, I was really glad to get out of there. Outside were people trying to eat their orders on the window ledge, people milling around waiting for their orders, others walking up, seeing the madness and just walking away- not all tourists, either. One guy obviously said screw it and was sitting in the waiting area of the farmacia next door drinking his smoothie, the only place to sit outside. This place would be okay if say 6-8 people were there leisurely eating, but they can't handle a full house. Especially not a breakfast crowd looking for something before the beach or a trip. Too many other places to try here before giving them another chance. Sorry. read more

Unfortunately, our third time back in Tulum, Del Cielo had moved into a bigger space and the food changed. We tried 3 times, and every item we got was no good. Pancakes were dried out/no flavor, oatmeal was cold, tartines shrunk, poached eggs were destroyed, food overall just didn't have the flavor or appeal it used to. And to top it off, prices went up, and sizes went down. We had such good food the past two times, and had talked it up to a friend we brought along this time.
