Del Campo is one of our favorite local spots. I almost always get a pizza, spinach, and Argentine empanadas which are all amazing, but honestly you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. My husband is obsessed with the shrimp--it's his go-to order every time we come. We always save room for dessert because the banana-tella pastry is that good. One of my favorite things about Del Campo is that they offer seasonal items, so there's always something new and fun to try in addition to the classics. We've been to both the Fort Worth/Alliance/Keller area location and the Flower Mound location, and the food is consistently delicious at both. Del Campo is a family owned shop which offers sweet and savory Argentina style empanadas freshly baked in house. I stopped in to try some of their bestsellers. Guava and Cream cheese and their classic Argentine style beef empanada, in it is ground angus beef, eggs, raisins, onions, red bell peppers, green olives, and Argentine spices. The flavors blended in really well inside their signature empanada dough. Just really not too crazy about the olives. I still enjoyed it, I just put the olives to the side. The highlight of the visit was the guava and cream cheese empanada. The sweet flavor of guava and the creaminess of cream cheese inside the empanada though is just hard to explain. I did a pick up order for Del Campo, however whenever I got there I realized it's better to walk in and place your order. The wait time seems to be the same time, unless it's a huge order. The prices for the empanadas are expensive, so this will be a rare treat for me. I ordered the shrimp empanada with banutella for dessert. The empanada comes with chimchurri sauce which is yummy. Oh my goodness what a treat! Just happened on this restaurant for lunch as we could see how clean it was from the outside and boy are we glad we did. Owner and staff were very friendly and helpful. The owners wife also runs the one in Lewisville so we will try it next as we live closer to it. We tried a mix of empanadas and the meat lovers was great and so was the ham and cheese ones. I'm surprised i don't have a review for this place. This place is located in a unassuming plaza. Honestly, it feels like most of the stores in this plaza aren't doing well, and the parking lot is always empty. I'm willing to bet this place is the busiest place in the whole plaza. anyways, as for the food, i've tried a few of the savory and sweet items. The sweet items are smaller than the savory, and a bit cheaper. But the savory items were decently sized. my favorite is the argentinian beef. What i don't like about this place is that if you want more chimichurri sauce, it'll cost you an extra 2 bucks for a small dip. I completely understand they are a business, but i wish it was given freely or cheaper than 2 bucks. Service is good and friendly. read more

After seeing numerous rave reviews, we had to try for ourselves....and if we could give 6 stars, we would!!!! Empanadas is not a dish we have often but after sampling one at a farmers market while on vacation, we returned to FW on the hunt for the best in the area. We bought the dozen pack and had one (or more) of each savory. Loved them all but the Argentinian Beef was just a notch above. Pastry was flaky and all the fillings delicious! Despite it being 40 minutes from home, we went the next week too! Be sure to look or call for the weekly flavor....they have a brisket one that was to die for! I've tried restaurants of all kinds across the Metroplex, and I haven't found anything else quite like Del Campo Empanadas. Argentinian food hand-made and served by an Argentinian family, with a little mix of American flavors. They feature a standard menu of both savory and sweet Empanadas, as well as daily specials, and they do have a few vegan options on the menu. Their marquee item is their Argentine-Style Beef, which contains ground angus beef, egg, raisins, red bell peppers, onions and green olives along with Argentine spices. It's a unique combination of flavors as the raisins and the spices provide a sweetness that is contrasted to the egg and the brininess of the olive. I find that three Empanadas is a good-sized meal, and sometimes will get two savory and one sweet, or I forego the sweet and just get three savory pastries. My favorite being the Beef Classic, which is essentially the Argentine-Style less the egg and raisins. I prefer this because the flavor of the green olives really stands out without the egg and raisin. I usually with also get the daily special. On Wednesday, it's Sweet Corn, which includes cheese, onion and a bechamel sauce which comes together to taste like a delicious corn chowder pot pie-of sorts! Del Campo Empanadas has been on my list of places to try, and I had that opportunity today! From what I read, they opened in May of 2021, and over this past year, I have seen them mentioned several times in published "best of" type lists. I figure a new place that is already getting thumbs up throughout the DFW metroplex - and even throughout the state at times as well - would be something worth trying. I was very glad that it wasn't crowded when we arrived because everything looked wonderful and I had a hard time deciding! The young woman at the counter was so helpful! She said the shrimp was her favorite so I tried one of those and a cheeseburger empanada. Rich got an Argentine style beef and a cheeseburger. There is a cooler with a variety of drinks and they serve coffee as well. The woman offered to hold onto our ticket in case we decided to order dessert so that was really nice. There were about 5 tables available, if I remember correctly, and the restaurant had sort of a cozy, comfortable, family feel. Our empanadas were delivered to our table after they were warmed. We were told which was which, and we went to town on them. They were absolutely delicious!! They were not at all greasy, the crust had a slight crisp on the outside but was tender inside. The fillings were plentiful and well seasoned. Add a bit of the chimichurri provided and take it up a level! I can see why they sell the chimichurri in jars - I'd put that stuff on everything! We did return to select dessert. I chose a sponge cake that was rolled up with dulce de leche that was a given. She had me at dulce de leche! We also tried a guava cream cheese and the banutella, which was filled with Nutella and banana, and drizzled with chocolate sauce and sprinkled with powdered sugar. All were great with the sponge cake fill being my favorite, followed by the guava pastry then the banutella. The banutella is apparently their best seller, but I thought it could have used a bit more Nutella. Pro Tip: check in on Yelp and get 2 free banutella pastries! Overall, I am thrilled to have finally tried Del Campo Empanadas and can't wait to return! The savory empanadas are $3.90/each and you can get 12 assorted empanadas for $42. They even do catering, offering not only the large empanadas, but also medium size and minis! I had Del Campo bookmarked a while back and then forgot about it. We were on our way back to OKC, and discovered by happy coincidence that Del Campo was a mere 6 minutes away from where we were staying. So, obviously we needed to stop by... The sheer number of empanada options made it to where we kinda wanted to try all of them. So, we kinda did... The Mixed Dozen Special was $35.99 or something, and you get to pick the empanadas you want. We got to try: - Beef Classic (good) - Argentine Style Beef (great!) - Ham & Cheese (good; very cheesy, if that's your thing) - Shrimp (meh; cheese and shrimp is a weird combo) - Spinach (great!) - Meat Lovers (great; tastes like a delicious version of a Hot Pocket, if there is such a thing) - Cheeseburger Chimichurri (amazing!) The Chimichurri sauce kicks everything up several notches (in the best way). They'll give you some with your order, but if you want more, it looks like they charge extra. You shouldn't need more though, unless you're planning on bathing in the stuff. The empanadas travel well. Most of them, we took to OKC; they were sitting in the car for 3-4 hours and it didn't affect the flavor/quality. Depending on if you're planning on eating them sooner or later, the staff will offer to heat up the empanadas for you. On that note, the customer service was fantastic; pleasant, helpful, gracious. The prices were higher than what I was used to paying, but considering the location, it makes sense. They can get away with charging a little more to the bougie folks who don't know better ("What's an empanada? Oh, it's like a Pop Tart!"). All things considered, the quality was pretty good. They have a weekly repeating daily special (all of them you must check out) and they have several every day options to choose from. I am very much a savory person, so I don't personally love the sweet options, but the ones I have tried I enjoyed (just not as much as the others). My wife loved them though! This place is so stinkin good!! The empanadas are very filling, I usually only need one or mayyybe two if I'm really hungry, so at $4.75 each I'd say it's a great deal for a quick meal. The restaurant is quaint and not too busy, It only takes a few minutes to get your food heated up. I really like the cream cheese pastries as well, they're the perfect size.
