We demanded our money back, were told we would be refunded, but then again were given more lies and no response. This company has no manned offices, their business addresses are either empty offices or luxury apartments in Chicago or Florida. There's nobody to talk to other than Calvin.. This company is not a licensed Lutron dealer or provider, Calvin admitted he uses a buddy's license (Orion) to sell jobs, which is illegal in Texas. We are now unfortunately engaged in a legal suit to attempt to get our money back. Run from Calvin and this company as fast as you can! They have zero integrity or concept of fulfillment of their commitments.

We recently needed troubleshooting for our home theater system and my husband made numerous attempts to reach someone at Empire for assistance. Calls were not returned and when he did manage to speak with someone about a service appointment, all he could get was "maybe we can stop by on Friday". Not exactly what we expected given the money we initially spent. Needless to say, no one showed up on Friday. We ended up finding another company that not only returned our calls, they sent a tech out a few days later who quickly resolved our issue. Then he went through our system and pointed out some optimizations that, honestly, should have been made during the installation. When you invest in Control4, any updates/changes have to be made through a dealer, so it's extra annoying when the dealer you purchased through no longer wants your business. We look forward to working with our NEW dealer to install additional home automation and home theater components.

He definitely saved me from a time consuming mistake with poor outcome that I would have made, because where I set my mount would have been awful! The mount/TV combination was unusual and not something Wesley had encountered before. Before doing anything he made sure he understood that the mount would work for the TV, and that he understood exactly what needed to be done. I really appreciate the attention in the "planning" phase. Work looks great and TV is still up! Thanks!

There was never one company that stood out from the rest. There were either very high installation fees or DYI installation with cheap products and always very mixed reviews. I was starting to get pretty desperate but luckily stumbled across Home Star Protection on yelp. I never thought I would rave about an alarm system but can't stop telling everyone we know how great Home Star Protection is. Tim was great at explaining everything and only sold us what we absolutely needed. Having that initial consultation really sold us on the company. Jes was very professional throughout the installation process and took his time reviewing the entire system to us. I love that they use the current system your house already has and just upgrade it as needed. I feel so secure having this system. The alarm.com app and mymoni.com are very easy to use and offer a lot of great options. It's nice to know there are still good companies out there that won't try to take advantage of their customers. You will not regret choosing this company. Thank you so much Home Star!!

While my project was residential, I know they also handle commercial work, and based on my experience, I would confidently recommend them for both residential and commercial projects. From the initial walkthrough to final installation, their level of knowledge and expertise was immediately apparent. They took the time to understand exactly what I wanted with my network and security camera setup and then made thoughtful recommendations to improve performance while also keeping costs in check. What really stood out was their efficiency and attention to detail. They found smart, clean ways to run cabling that minimized disruption while maximizing long-term reliability. Everything was done neatly and with a level of precision you typically only see in high-end custom work. Communication throughout the entire process was excellent--clear, timely, and proactive. They showed up when they said they would, stayed on schedule, and delivered exactly what they promised. It is rare to find a company that combines technical expertise, honesty, and craftsmanship at this level. Dan and his team exceeded expectations in every way. I would absolutely use them again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a professional, clean, and reliable installation.
