I wanted to give this place a glowing review... i REALLY did. I had a craving for brisket and we were in the area and we found them on Yelp. The good: The food. It was incredible. I got a combo with brisket, two sides (cabbage and sausage and bbq beans) as well as corn cakes. The bbq sauce options were limited to two- one sweet and one spicy. The sweet was amazing. The bad: This is probably the dirtiest place I've ever eaten and had i not seen the food on Yelp we would have driven by from the looks of the parking lot. The vestibule you walk into before the restaurant has so much dirt caked around the edges you could peel it with a putty knife. The floor was sticky and our shoes made loud sounds as she walked us across an empty dining room. Every chair in the place was a light blonde wood that had never been cleaned. The legs were absolutely filthy and you could see dirty finger prints on the back of the chairs from never being cleaned. To make matters worse a cat has clearly lived in this building at some point in the past and you can tell when you walk in. Your best bet with this place- order to go. From Saratoga to Atlanta, I headed west because I love the Smokey Mountains, I spent a fair amount of time within them. But I had to get to Kentucky by lunch - 24 East 40 East Chattanooga - Knoxville - ten hours of driving already. I wanted to drive the Kentucky back roads of horse farms & wildflowers. My buddy's '65 Mustang died along his way to meet me - it's been giving him problems, some fuel pressure matter this time, so I sat on the patio with Iris and ordered the Pretzel that the server recommended. Beer cheese and another cheese dipping modifier, the suggestion was perfect - and we waited sitting just off the highway - it'd have been nice to have a beer but the road sometimes never ends, it always starts again. Finally the Stang rolled in - we ordered away. Dry rub wings for me - double combo of meats and sides for him. The drumettes were so plump, oddly more meaty than I prefer which I realize sounds weird - but I like just a bite and a half per - and I much prefer wings to drumettes. With such an abundance of chicken meat, I consumed about thirteen out of fifteen and took the rest. The star penalty is for the prepackaged blue cheese, Ken's brand I believe. I've driven by their sign on 65 a few hundred times now and always giggled at the name. I mean, it's silly and that's why I find it so amusing. I'm from Memphis, love bbq, and judge it accordingly. We were among a group of about 15 family's after a baseball game. Our immediate group of 6 people were the first to be seated and having our drink orders taken. Part of the drink order came within 10 minutes, another part came within 20 minutes a a third drink order came after more than an hour. After an hour, they finally came to take our food order. The waiter gave us some type of chips that we did not order and said that they were complementary because of the wait.. Another meal, their Loaded Spud, came out dry and overdone. A plate of wings were inedible. I had a #1 Combo with smoked chicken and sides of beans and green beans. The chicken was dry and the beans seemed as if it came out of a can and the green beans were salty as they too came out of a can. While complaining to the staff, about all we could get out of them was that they were very sorry. They said that the manager could come out and talk with us, but I never saw that person. They did take off the charge for the Combo that was missing the sides as well as the very late drink. (They did charge us for the 2 "free" plates of chips). Plus, we we're looking to share so she grouped things together to help with cost savings. We ordered pulled pork sliders that were very tender. Then pick either of the two sauces, hot and spicy or sweet and savory, and then that pork is nicely elevated. That came with waffle fries. Somethin' came in the mail today... Deez Butts. HA! GOT EEM!!!!! GOT EEM... Honestly man, how can you drive by Deez Butts' highway exit and not have your curiosity piqued? This might be the best business name in the state of Kentucky (especially since the legendary Louisville smoke shop "Grind Dat Ash" is apparently no longer with us). This is no gimmick joint, though: there's some great BBQ on offer here and the lineup of sides is decidedly stronger than much of the competition. To date, I've had the pulled pork and brisket, and both were thoroughly enjoyable: tender with some satisfying crispiness to the edges, and the sauces complement each other nicely. Aside from the main BBQ sauces (one sweet, one spicy), there's a savory Alabama White sauce that's well worth requesting. For bread, I tried the slider buns first and then the corn cakes; the former are pretty unremarkable but the latter are some kind of wonderful. I've had a perfect success rate with the sides but the potato salad deserves specific recognition. Dill pickle is potently front-and-center in the flavor, and ohhh man, you are going to be craving more after your first visit. The novelty of "Deez Butts," complete with a pig strutting its stuff on the sign, has yet to wear off for me. But even if it does, the crowd-pleasing grub and solid value will keep me coming back whenever I'm in this neck of the woods. read more

Our group of four noticed this place en route to our charging station. Our experiences were polar opposite, but higher reviews for the friendly service. I ordered a loaded potato. The toppings were good, but the potato tasted like it had been sitting for hours and reheated. A microwaved potato would have been more appetizing than what they served, but I was in the minority in my displeasure. The other parties enjoyed their brisket and thought the portions were generous. Our first time eating here but definitely not our last. We arrived on Saturday afternoon to find the parking lot quite full, but went in anyway since I was hungering for bar b q. If you haven't been there, Deez Butts is located in the building where the Jerry 's used to be at Dixie Highway and I 65 Elizabethtown; though the restroom & facilities are old, they were clean. We were seated right away, and even though we only saw two waitresses, service time was quite acceptable, & the food was delicious! I had the brisket, cabbage with Polish sausage, and barbecued peachy beans.; Hubby had smoked chicken, creamy slaw, & pinto beans. He said the smoked chicken was incredibly tasty, a bit of a surprise, I think. His pinto beans & slaw were good, too. My brisket was so tender that I pulled it apart with my plastic fork, & my beans were spicy enough that I considered asking for sour cream but didn't want to ruin the flavor. The cabbage was too little with too much of the slightly dry sausage. Our banana pudding & beignets were excellent little dessert bites. The next time I eat there, I will either take my own utensils (I hate wrestling my food with plastic that breaks.) & a plastic/ceramic saucer or I'll take it home to eat. The one thing I hate worse than plastic forks is eating wet paper with my meat. I actually refuse to eat at another popular restaurant simply because they, too, can't provide adult dishes. Organized a work group to visit this restaurant during their Micro Wrestling event. It cost 30.00 to step foot in the parking lot where the event was held and you were required to bring your own chair. No biggie, we chose to order some food and drinks on the patio. Most of the drinks were hot because they kept running out of ice so we settled on Luke warm beer and a pork sandwich. The food arrived fast and the staff were extremely pleasant. I took a bite of the pulled pork where I spent the next 15 minutes trying to chew it enough to wash it down with a hot beer. The meat was so dry, it was like snacking on dryer lint. Gave up on the sandwich after that failed asphyxiation attempt and moved inside to enjoy some music. My coworker who is typically the life of the party was feeding the jukebox and getting the other patrons song requests ensuring everyone in the bar area was having a nice time. I took note of the typical gaggle of drunk girls feebly attempting to bob their derrières to the music. One little filly stood out amongst the herd as the social butterfly, grinding on the other dance participants, male and female. I became aware of a middle aged gentleman pacing the bar area like a neutered house cat glaring at the male patrons. I said self, that one is going to cause a ruckus! A few top 20 later, we moved back to the patio to listen to the local artist finishing up his set. It was at this point, my coworkers fan club, including the leader of the drunken dance team descended upon him as he sat in a patio chair. He indulged the chaos briefly until the neutered house cat quickly approached him, looming over his seat insinuating that he had become too friendly with his wife, the queen drunk. As my coworker was being verbally pummeled by this disgruntled husband figure, the top drunk took it upon herself to join the battery. At this point I stepped between the ensuing attackers and my still seated coworker and asked them to back away. Queen bee then became belligerent, clapping her hands in my face and trying mightily to master the attitude head swivel. Finally the show down of testicular fortitude subsided after a quick insinuation from the house cat that the arms in the car may be required. Sounds like any typical Friday night bar story however there is a twist! The House Cat and the Queen Bee are actually the owners of this establishment.
